Survivor
When everyone runs, who will stand?

Nova is a new recruit to the Jagged Maw: an elite bounty hunter guild.

During a routine collection, she finds herself dragged into the middle of an alien uprising.

The Ancients, merciless beings set on reclaiming the universe, have only one person left to stop them: Nova.

She must battle the Ancients, time, and her sanity, in order to stop the annihilation of the human race.

Fear the hero who has nothing left to lose.

Pilgrim
After her encounter with the Ancients, Nova is more determined than ever to break free of the Confederacy.

When she arrives on a planet that’s been silent for over one hundred and fifty years, she discovers that the planet is far from abandoned.

In order to survive, Nova and her companions must fight.

When a historical enemy emerges, there will be more than their lives at stake.

Hunter
Ever wanted to hunt a vampire?

They're nothing compared to the lecheons Nova faces in this gripping action adventure.

The blood-sucking lecheons are running rampant on Boullion Five and the police have been over-run.

Nova is the only one who will take the job, but with deadly cunning, super reflexes, and a thirst for blood, the lecheons could prove too much, even for her.

It will take her killer instinct to survive, and even that may not be enough.

Gambler
When Aart goes missing Nova is forced to travel back to her hated home planet of Tabryn.

Her latest job to solve a casino heist takes her deep into the fetid underbelly of the corrupt planet, and faces from her past start to resurface.

It will take all of her strength to stay afloat as the past tries to pull her back to where it all began.

Discover the planet that made the bounty hunter in Book Four: Gambler.

Justice
After the Ancients and the lecheons, Nova is looking for something simple, but life is never that easy.

Murder, man-eating plants, and rumours of cannibalism from the Inner Galaxies all await Nova in Book 5: Justice.

Saffron Bryant is an Australian author with a passion for fantasy and science fiction. She began writing at a very early age and hasn’t stopped since.

She has a degree in Biomedical Science (with honours) and recently completed a PhD in chemistry at the University of Sydney.

Unfortunately her cupboard didn’t open onto Narnia, she didn’t get a letter from Hogwarts, and a strange man in a blue box hasn’t shown up… (here’s hoping for an old Wizard on my 50th!!)

So she spends her time writing stories and releasing them to the world.

~Happy Reading!~

Saffron is best known for her science-fiction action adventure The Nova Chronicles , which she describes as "Tomb Raider in Space".

5 books in one with a great story line!

Some distracting punctuation issues in book 5 (perhaps a Kindle issue?)is my only complaint.

Please continue to write about Nova! Thank you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Action, Cliffhanger, Action, Cliffhanger, etc., etc. and then it gets exciting., January 13, 2016

This review is for: The Nova Chronicles: Books 1-5

Except for the Space Travel, Plasma Weapons, AI Robots that fly (are powered by almost anything, have thought controlled communications between devices and people as well as between other devices), Anti-Gravity tools, etc., this could be an Action Adventure series. Our main character is not quite a "Rags-to-Riches" individual but she started life as an orphan taken in by a Madam in a Whorehouse. She is expected to transition from a housekeeper/maid/waitress to become another of the "Working-Girls". She's a tough defiant kid who breaks away from the expected path by learning to become a Mechanized Fighter by mentoring under an experienced one and develops into one of the best.
She's a quick learner and eventually buys a derelict Spacecraft and barters for spare parts and training to make the craft flight worthy. This allows her to achieve her goal of escaping from her vile crime ridden home planet that she's learned to hate. She quickly develops a well deserved reputation as a courageous warrior skilled in Weapons, Tactics and all forms of Combat in addition to Leadership skills. Her abilities and reputation allow her to be accepted into "The Jagged Maw", one of the three most prestigious Bounty Hunter organizations...in the Universe.
This series chronicles her many and varied assignments (and escapades) across the Universe to all sorts of Planets with incredible Fauna and Flora. Some of these Flora are sentient, mobile and deadly.
I bought the package of books one through five in this series and was very glad to see it's not over yet. A synopsis of this series could be: Action, Cliffhanger, Action, Cliffhanger, etc., etc.. Each time Nova gets in trouble I get the same feelings I did as a kid watching Superman, The Lone Ranger, etc. and worrying; Is this it? How will she get out of this one? All of her many experiences, talents, courage, and loyal friends come into play and you never get tired of the different ways she "gets away". I especially liked that she rarely gets away Scott-Free. I'm going to order the next books in this exciting series as soon as I finish this review. If You do also, you'll become a fan as well.

4.5 Excellent space adventure

Nova has a knack for trouble, as in getting into, and mostly getting out of. She has good friends in spite of her surly moods. She just needs to upgrade her ship and her trusty companion Cal.

Simply put

Awesome. Inspiring. Marvelous. While it does leave a lot of questions unanswered it is one of the best reads I've had in quite some time. You simply must read The Nova Chronicles. Going to go find the next batch of this series. Ciao!!

I didn't like the writing style at all but stuck with these reads for two reasons, I thought they would get better and S J Bryant is a friend of Richard Parry's - an author I admire. I've slogged most of the way through the last book as of today. The books did get a little smoother in prose but the simplistic writing style didn't improve much.

I thought I had read other works by Dr. Bryant but not according to Goodreads or Kindle. The writing seems to be the work of a young mind - almost as if they were intended for children. Some of the stories were way out there, especially the one about The Ancients. The science didn't make sense and the backdrop story just wasn't there. You can't just make shit up and call it science fiction. It has to have the look and feel of at least some basis in known science. One can tell that Bryant is a very sweet gal, I just wish she would learn how to swear when she writes. You know, hang out with guys like Richard Parry, Michael R Hicks or Rick Partlow a little and that should do it. (Would I like to be a fly on the wall for that!)

I have other stories by Bryant in the Kindle queue. Last Escape and Unconnected by name. Assume that Unconnected is about Tanquin, one the characters in this series. Hope they are better than this series.

A similar setting like “FireFly”. Nova flies by herself in her own ship. Rusted, constantly replacing parts, etc.

Survivor
Pilgrim
Hunter
Gambler
Justice

At this point it is a seven book series. Yet to read,

Adventurer

An excellent start to this space opera about a group of misfit hunter’s who take on jobs most would not even dare to try. The main character is Nova, an orphan born on a planet, taken in by a Madam, in a brothel. She has no idea who her parents might have been and had to fight her way to freedom in the fighting pits of her home world. She along with her ship and robotic friend Cal, take on impossible jobs with the help of her other hunter friends. The imagination of this writer is awesome, the creatures and planets she creates are great. This writer has made reading her words such fun.

A Four, if.

I'd give the story, the whole series to date, a four if I was a YA type person. I'm not, I'm 70. The book, if written in a style more fitting to us old geezers would be very good reading. The current style suits the YA to a "T". Beginners probably as well. It is a sort of SciFi. It's not bad!

This series is not very sophisticated writing, however it does entertain. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this series, with a Firefly-like feel. It has a nice atmosphere and works well as a space crime series.

Nova is a young space traveling bounty hunter with her own rusty transport ship and CAL, a laborbot with a personality. These five books cover her adventures with murder, vampire like creatures, ear-invading slugs that control people, a hostile terraformed planet with carnivorous plants, and of course bounty hunting. If I had encountered and survived the stuff she gets into, I would have settled down on a nice safe planet.

Not a massive, mind-crushing, philosophical megatome. But is is an easy to read and get into set of books. I enjoyed reading them.

Very good sci-fi story Nova has many adventures with her robot or if in trouble a group of good friends come to her rescue a heroine in a rusty airspace ship that is sentient and has a class act of sarcasm and Cal her floating Robot. I have read the first 5 books in the series , but I will buy 6-10 with my Amazon account cos I love the story's and the characters recommended to sci-fi readers.

I couldn't believe I'd get addicted to Nova

Usually the hero or heroine is too fabulous, too perfect, too good to be true. So perfect you can't stand them. You almost wish they 'd meet their maker. (Have I made my point yet?) I was surprised that I actually liked Nova in these books! I wanted to read on and not because I had too, I wanted too. Nova is the type of character that I would have as a friend. The writing is cute, clever, witty and entertaining. Thank you S.J. Bryant, On giving us a heroine I don't want to shoot myself! The Nova Chronicles are a good read.

A good read

Nova Tabryn is a strong female lead in this entertaining series. There is everything from blood sucking echelons to mobile people eating plants to the mysterious ancients. And Nova takes them all on. She is smart, tough, and always in trouble as she and her trusty robot Cal leap across the galaxy finding bad guys to bring to justice. It's a bounty hunting space opera and well worth a look.

Great hero and action and series progression!

I am hooked. Thoroughly enjoyed meeting Nova, Cal and Crusader. Series action packed with plot twists, character development and creation of a multi-galaxy universe in the future. Excited to see what happens next and how Nova and her friends handle it.

It was ok. The main character was fairly well developed as was the universe they lived in...just lacked on the plot for me.

The Nova Chronicles

This heroine is a credit to heroines everywhere and she takes insane risks. Non-stop action and Nova has a morality that keeps me enthralled.

Like chewing bubble gum

Easy to read. Nova always wins, it's a fun, sure thing. Not complicated and has a nice flavour to it.
