Rose and Colin are blissfully happy, already successful and very much in love. On their wedding day, with their lives stretching out before them, Rose can’t imagine a better day.
But there is something about Colin that isn’t quite right…

25 years later, Colin finds out that sometimes the sins of the past really do come back to haunt you…

Blighted Nuptials is a whirlwind of revenge, fear, blood, and paranoia. Elements of folk horror, haunted house tropes, and botanical horror all fit very nicely together in this carefully woven tale. I found myself flying through the story, desperate to know what would happen next. As with all of her stories, E.R. Vickers showcases her innate skill to hook the reader with a single paragraph, and she doesn’t ease up on that grip until the bitter end.
With twists that I didn’t see coming, this story is short but brutal. I kind of wish it had been longer so I could spend more time in the isolated world that Vickers has created. Somehow noisy and peaceful all at the same time, you can feel the tension as the house is suddenly full of life.

This is a perfect read for anyone who wants a novella which doesn’t pull any punches, and will simultaneously lift your heart and wrench it out. If you’ve not already discovered E.R. Vickers, this is the perfect opportunity; she is an immense talent in the indie scene.

Blighted Nuptials is a short but brutal horror novella that transforms what initially appears to be a beautiful love story into something dark, bloody, and deeply unsettling. Rose and Colin seem blissfully in love on their wedding day, but the creeping sense that something is not quite right immediately had me hooked.

E.R. Vickers packs revenge, paranoia, folk horror, haunted-house atmosphere, and botanical horror into fewer than 104 pages without making the story feel overcrowded. Colin is manipulative and chilling, while Rose’s story gives the horror an emotional weight that made me genuinely care about what was happening.

The tension builds quickly, and several twists caught me completely off guard, especially that ending! My only complaint is that I wanted the story to be longer so I could spend more time in this eerie, isolated world and allow some of the revelations to breathe.

Blighted Nuptials is fast, gripping, wonderfully vicious, and surprisingly emotional. I highly recommend it to readers who enjoy revenge stories, toxic relationships, creeping dread, botanical horror, and short reads that pack one hell of a punch.

Thanks to E.R. Vickers for gifting me an eARC of Blighted Nuptials. I am leaving this review voluntarily. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

ARC review :
What a read this was!! A short story that packed a punch!! I adored this story it drew me in from the very first chater!! I thought at the beginning awwww what a sweet love story!! How quickly did that opinion change!! Poor Rose. Colin i took a huge dislike to his character. Hes evil, manipulative, sadistic and a total psychopath!! Rotten to the core. I did not see the ending coming but I loved it!! I made my daughter jump as i realised what was unfolding!! I can get very animated when reading lol! BUT this is a 5 star read!

This book may only be just over 100 pages, but every single one of those pages is a lesson in fear, pain, paranoia and revenge. You're gripped from the start as the story opens with a blissfully happy couple about to get married and the twists and turns keep you guessing throughout, leading you into brutality and mind games. I couldn't guess where this tale was going to end up, and it's testament to E. R Vickers incredible talent that she created such an immersive and unputdownable story.

A wonderful, spooky short story about death and revenge. It's short enough to finish in one sitting, and there's never a dull moment, right up to the twist ending. And there was enough gore and blood to keep me satisfied! Quite an enjoyable read! I received a free copy of this story and write this review voluntarily.

I received this as an arc from the author for my honest opinion/review.

This is a short story about Colin and Rose. Rose is a successful business lady who has worked her way up in the hotel industry and now owns her own hotels, this is where she meets Colin. They fall in love and get married but unfortunately Colin has a dark secret. Colin is evil!!

This is a dark revenge story. It's disturbing in ways but doesn't have too much gore which is quite different for these types of stories. The author does capture the evilness of Colin and does a great job in seeing into the mind of a psychopath.

The ending was good but me personally would have liked to have read more I felt Colin deserved more to happen to him, I just felt it was over too quickly but it didn't ruin the book.

This is a wonderfully spun tail of love and romance...at first... and then the dark clouds roll in and we are hit with deceit, betrayal and final revenge.

Rose and Colin appear to have it all. A wedding, a life of love and a wonderful future ahead, except not everything is as it first appears and as the wedding comes and goes some sinister happens that changes both of their lives forever.

This is a novella, but make no mistake about it, Vickers quickly builds the tension through fast-paced storytelling, blindsided you with twist after twist until you cease to continue trying to guess the ending.

I've enjoyed every thing that Vickers has written and this one of her best releases yet. Grab your copy now and if you've not tried her yet, then what heck are you playing at!?
