One piece of advice my grandmother always shared with me growing up was, “Your person will find you when you least expect it.” That sentiment echoed throughout this story and felt especially fitting for these characters.

This book follows two people who have each experienced heartbreak, loss, and sadness as they learn to overcome the wounds left by their pasts. Watching them heal, grow, and slowly open their hearts again was one of my favorite aspects of the story. Their journey felt emotional and authentic, making it easy to root for them from beginning to end.

I also absolutely loved the found family element. The relationships beyond the romance added so much warmth and depth, reminding me that healing often comes from the people who choose to stand beside us.

As I read, I kept thinking about how much our past can shape our future, but only if we let it. The story beautifully shows that while past relationships may leave scars, they can also help us recognize and appreciate the love that’s truly meant for us.

Overall, this was a heartfelt, emotional read that left me reflecting long after I turned the last page. I absolutely loved this book and would happily recommend it to anyone who enjoys stories about healing, second chances, and finding love when it’s least expected.

Book Review

“Funny how the road I never meant to take—the one I thought was just a detour—ended up leading me exactly where I was meant to be.”

“a blur of white and black, soft chaos and new beginnings all tangled together.”

Kat Kingsley, you did an amazing job writing this story and keeping me hooked from the very first page to the last.

This story follows Aubrey, who has reached a point in her life where she doesn’t know what to do next. On her way to California, her car breaks down, leaving her stranded with no signal. Then along comes a six-foot-tall man built like pure muscle and strength, with mismatched eyes, driving a tow truck to rescue her. Rooster is a biker who’s rough around the edges but has the biggest heart. What begins as an unexpected detour turns into something so much deeper and, in the end, feels like home.

Watching Aubrey and Rooster heal from their pasts and slowly learn to trust each other again made this book so special. The string that had been tethering them together slowly began to break until it was finally gone. Then something happens that makes her want to run again and causes Rooster to shut down. But Aubrey isn’t the same woman who first arrived in Pinecrest, and she’s no longer willing to back down.

I fell in love with all of the characters and the roles they played in the story. I was already invested in Aubrey and Rooster within the first few chapters. The Iron Demons isn’t just a motorcycle club it’s a family made up of people who once felt like they had nobody.

This book is about found family, emotional romance, a fiercely protective biker, healing from trauma, and finding hope and yourself again. If those are the kinds of stories you love, I highly recommend picking this one up.

I can’t wait for book two so I can read Maddie and Axle’s story and hopefully get to see a little more of Rooster and Aubrey’s love along the way.

“Sometimes the road you’re forced onto leads you exactly where you’re meant to be.”

This book completely stole my heart. What starts as a story about heartbreak and starting over quickly transforms into a beautifully emotional, slow-burn romance that had me rooting for Aubrey and Rooster from the very beginning.

Aubrey is a heroine you can’t help but admire. After having her life turned upside down by betrayal, she takes a leap of faith toward a new future, only to find herself stranded in the middle of nowhere. Enter Rooster, the rugged Iron Demons biker who looks intimidating on the outside but has a heart of absolute gold beneath all the leather, tattoos, and grit. Their chemistry builds naturally through quiet moments, heartfelt conversations, and undeniable attraction, making every step of their relationship feel authentic and earned.

Kat Kingsley perfectly balances romance, emotion, and found-family vibes. The Iron Demons MC feels like more than just a backdrop. They become a family you want to be part of, adding warmth, humor, and loyalty to the story. Rooster is the ultimate book boyfriend: protective without being overbearing, fiercely loyal, and exactly what Aubrey needs when her world is falling apart.

The pacing is addictive, the emotional moments hit hard, and the romance delivers all the butterflies. It’s a story about healing, second chances, and discovering that home isn’t always a place. Sometimes it’s a person.

If you love:
🖤 Motorcycle club romance
🏍️ Protective alpha heroes
❤️ Slow-burn chemistry
✨ Found family
🌅 Fresh starts and second chances
💛 Emotional, heartfelt romance

…then Detour deserves a spot at the top of your TBR.

Kat Kingsley has kicked off the Iron Demons series with an unforgettable first installment, and I cannot wait to see where this ride takes us next.

Wonderful Book

What do you do when your life implodes? You gtfo. At least that's Aubrey's plan until her car decides to die in the middle of nowhere. Enter one sexy biker who turns out to be her knight in denim and leather. He finds her a job and a place to stay while her car is being fixed. What Aubrey doesn't count on with the universe's little detour is what it is doing to her heart. Now she has to decide when the time comes does she keep running, or stay in this place that is starting to feel less like a detour and more like home?
I loved every moment of this book. The world building was phenomenal. You feel like you are walking through this small town, from the diner to the clubhouse. You can imagine yourself riding on those mountain roads. All of the characters are well developed, even the minor characters. You feel the emotions of the main characters so deeply. Aubrey and Rooster both have suffered deeply in their pasts. Neither have really dealt with that while trying to be strong for everyone else. They are both good people that were dealt shitty hands. It is touching to see them open up to each other. It is also touching and definitely comical to see how all of their friends care about them and want to help. This book definitely contains a group of people who are loyal and understand the meaning of family. You even have a few villians to hate. I look forward to reading future books in this series. This is definitely a wonderful and exciting world Kat has created.

I was lucky enough to receive an arc of Detour and I loved every minute of it! She's a thicc one, but so worth the read!!!

Aubrey's life takes an unexpected turn when she finds herself stranded on the side of the road, and Rooster, a member of the Iron Demons MC, ends up being the last person she expected to rely on. What starts as a chance encounter slowly grows into a relationship built on trust, healing, and genuine care for one another.

Rooster was easily my favorite part of the book. He may look like the stereotypical tough biker, but underneath it all he's loyal, protective, and has such a big heart. I loved watching him show up for Aubrey in all the ways that mattered.

The found family dynamic within the Iron Demons was another highlight for me. The club truly felt like a family, and it added so much warmth to the story. The romance was a slow build that felt natural, and Aubrey's journey of healing was handled with care.

If you enjoy protective biker heroes, found family, emotional romance, and characters who help each other heal, I'd definitely recommend giving this one a try. I'm already looking forward to reading more from the Iron Demons series!

I was lucky enough to receive an Advance Reader Copy of this book. I loved it! What is not to love an extremely hot biker with tattoos named Rooster. Who’s intimidating on the outside but a squishy teddy bear on the inside. Then the FMC is tougher than she looks and has a beautiful voice. I loved how everyone was so accepting of her in the clubhouse. I definitely look forward to more from this awesome author!

I absolutely loved this book. My favorites are the Chao Gremlins (if you know, you know), Axel and Diesel. They accepted her from day 1. I do wish her brother would’ve come to visit and met everyone, he and the Chao Gremlins would be attached at the hip. I really want to read Zeus’ story. I can’t wait for Axel’s. I was sucked in from the 1st page! Amazing work!!
