I read, I think 3 of the twilight books. I can say that this book is better than the original lol. In my opinion, I like this one even though it's a bit similar to the twilight series but it's also different. The (main) girl character is just like Bella in (Twilight) she cannot decide who to choose between Vicent and Victor. Just as to Bella with Edward and Jacob. In my opinion, I hope the author let her be with Vicent why every female in a Vampire/Werewolf (these both creatures in one book) also choose the vampire smh. I don't understand smh.
i liked the fact that this was a very original story but set within a familiar backdrop. Very ingenious to weave a contemporary story into a real town that has been impacted by pop culture, and while attempting to feed that pop-culture to keep the town going with tourist dollars, you can easily believe that there would be many others attracted, as well, who have their own reasons for being there. curious how this is going to play out. great story!
I knew I read this book; it had to be in a different version because I know I reviewed this book. Hm, weird but I need to get part two because I want to know what happen next. It's crazy how this story is similar to Bella and Edward also I know she's going to chose Viktor like Bella had done with Edward when she didn't choose Jacob, I wanted her with Vincent in my opinion, but Viktor had to be in the way of everything. Can't wait to read part two whenever it comes out on Amazon where I can buy it. I was hoping the main girl in this book would date Vincent. But it's crazy how she likes both. But I bet she's going to date Viktor. Just like Bella chosen Edward over Jacob. I think Vincent is a werewolf and Viktor is the vampire. But how is that even possible if they both are siblings what is Vincent a werewolf vampire lmao.

I'm mad because the second book isn't out yet. I'm curious as to what will happen next. I was hoping the main girl in this book would date Vincent. But its crazy how she likes both. But I bet she's going to date Vicktor . Just like Bella chosen Edward over Jacob. I think Vincent is a werewolf.
This book was strange. I thought I would give it a try because I love Twilight! Ok so what I got from this book is: yes it is in Forks the place we all know and love and is set after all the fame of the books and movies, but it makes you wonder; what if twilight was based on a true story? I really like that thought. As for the characters I think we should have found out more about them. I mean the details are really important and I think the characters needed a few more dets. But yes I would recommend this book and this author and I can't wait to read book 2
This book is set in the town of Forks. This is the town made famous by the Twilight series. I have not read the Twilight books but know they feature a Vampire and Werewolf. Amber has just moved to town and has not read the books. She makes friends with some local boys and her mother is dating a deputy. There are some incidents happening and Amber finds herself in danger more than once.
Once I re-started reading, I had to finish the book to find out what happens. It is very well written. The book was chosen for the What's in a name Challenge?.
I am going to say this is a retelling but it isn't really. The world of Twilight exists in this book, like the book and movies came out... Maybe alternative reality is a better word? The book was interesting and I feel if you are a twilight lover you might really really love it. I can say I did enjoy the book a lot, but it felt predictable maybe because I read Twilight??? Cute and fun story that I think Twilight fans will enjoy.
I found this book frustrating due to the copious grammar errors, lack of character development, and lack of originality. While fun to imagine that Twilight is based upon truth, this drags and drags. It basically follows Twilight, but with Amber as the disbelieving Bella. No information is given or develops. Read on? No thanks.
A great story idea and better fleshed out than the actual Twilight but has the same novice mistakes. Bad punctuation and multiple missing words means often you're not sure what's happened and scenes seem to skip whole sections, which is disconcerting. Aside from how annoying it is trying to make sense of what's happening at times, still a good take on the Twihard craze.
wtf did I just read. Firstly, the movie was filmed in Oregon, so how they were able to have Bella's and Edward's houses in Forks is a HUGE mystery to me. So, what the hell is up with the mother? She acts like a 5 year old...a horny 5 year old. Hitting on any teenage boy who comes over, and even asking if any boy your daughter mentions is hot with self interest is just wrong. Thirdly, why does everyone keep acting as if and calling amber stupid because she doesn't know what's going down in this whackadoo town when NO ONE will tell her anything other than vague ass answers?
Not certain what I read. One thing I do know is I had to force myself to finish AND there were still so many untied ends and unanswered questions. It drove me MAD! I'll not be reading any more books in this series. While the author is a good writer. The main character annoyed me to no end. There's so much more going on, but I'll leave it up to the rest of you readers to find out for yourselves. 2 and 1/2 rounded to a 2 star rating. Just not for me.
I read this book because I got it free and I am fascinated by the whole Twilight phenomena. A book about it from a Forks resident sounded great. Unfortunately, it wasn't and I may have over paid. The book read like a very early draft before any editor had looked at it. There are substantial problems with grammar, punctuation, spelling, idiom, and structure, all of which detract significantly from the story itself. I frequently had to stop to decode the meaning of sentences in which overuse of pronouns confused which character was being referenced. In the final passage of the book, one of the boys shows up, and I still don't know who it was. The story also suffers from 'author fatigue' which happens when an author tries to do all his or her own editing. Basically, it is better edited at the beginning and gets steadily worse as the book goes on.
Aside from these technical issues, the story wanders with no real arc, dozens of story threads are simply dropped, characters behave inconsistently, and there is no tempo to what little action there is. The storyline lacks clarity and I had to force myself to read the whole thing.
At first, I thought that the book might be a parody, then I thought it might move to erotica, what with three possible boyfriends. It did neither and finally resolved into a paranormal mystery (sort of). I started thinking of it as a re-imagining of Twilight because of the many parallels and some plot similarities.
This could have been a good story. Some of the characters showed real promise of becoming interesting and the author's unique perspective as a Forks resident has wonderful potential. The end pictures were a nice touch, too. I would advise the author to find an unbiased reader or two, along with a qualified editor, to assist in the story writing process. I think there is talent here, but this has DIY written all over it.
I'm not really sure where to start with this one. Although it's not supposed to be like Twilight, there are too many similarities, like the h just moving to Forks, her computer taking forever to boot up, a cop as a fatherly figure and vampires vs werewolves (at least I think).
As far as the editing... There weren't very many typos, but wrongly edited punctuation and spelling of certain words drove me crazy. 'Ah' is different from 'Uh' and was incorrectly used over and over. 'Monies worth' should be 'money's worth', for example. And then you have the repetitive sentences. 'A shiver of unease' was used way too many times throughout the book.
The story itself... While I did enjoy reading it, I'm still confused. I was hoping the entire time things would be cleared up, but they weren't. Not even a little. Now, I understand some secrets need to be kept to keep people interested in the series, but I'm so lost, I really don't want to keep reading. Between the weird dreams, the glares she gets from EVERYONE, and the "imagined" things Amber sees, well it's too much without even a hint of clarity.
I live in WA and have been to Forks and La Push. Therefore, I really want to be supportive of a local author, even though I don't know her. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be buying the next books. Sorry
When I picked up this book I thought that it might be interesting. What I didn't expect was to love it so much. I got sucked into Amber's world and her trying to make sense of everything that is going on in the sleepy town of Forks. Vincent and Viktor are pulling her in two different directions. Glinda who is Amber's self-proclaimed best friend acts strange at times. One minute she is fine and one minute she is giving Amber the evil eye. Then there are all the strange events happening, the window in her room that never stays shut, the weird dreams and her Mom's newest love interest Sheriff Ken. I cannot wait to read book two. Amazing read for any Twilight or Forks lover.
Honestly I was a little iffy about reading this. Being a fan of the twilight books but not the movies I didn't quit understand what this was going to be about or like. But it ended up being really good. I like the characters. Lots of mystery yet at the same time things seem obvious. I'm hoping my understand if the book is accurate and there won't be too many disappointments. Lol but in all seriousness it's a great book. Loved the story and adding the popularity of Twilight made it a bit more fun. Looking forward to the second. Hope more come out soon so I don't have to wait long. I know I'll finish the second quickly.
What did I just read? This was a disaster start to finish. When teaching 5th grade writing you are happy to get them to understand two basic concepts of good writing: focus and coherence. This has neither- and I am pretty sure it was lacking any sort of editing of top of that. The Idea of this story intrigued me- but execution was appalling. The characters have no depth. Originality is severely lacking- the main character is described as Bella, Twilight phrases are used throughout the book, and scenes from the Twilight franchise are copied in several places as well. Thank God it was free.
I wondered what this book would be about. I wondered if some hack was trying to profit on the coattails of the Twilight series. Boy, was I surprised! I was hooked from the first page. A.E Davis tells an interesting story with interesting, well-rounded characters. In another fantasy ride in the Pacific Northwest, Davis keeps us on our toes trying to figure out who is which fantastical beings. Thanks A.E. Looking forward to Forks II.
The book is a quick read and as a fan of the Twilight series I was intrigued. It was an interesting take on the town from the series. The opening states most fiction is based on fact, it was eerily familiar with descriptions of places. It ends with me wanting to read the next to answer all the questions.
I will admit it. I was sceptical, but figured what the heck.... I'm so glad I did. While yes it could use a little editing it was a great story. It was nice to go back to Forks. It's almost like going home after having been away for years and everyone you knew has moved on. I've already bought book 2 and I'm ready to dive in!
I wasn't really sure what to expect when I decided to read this book. But it was awesome! Being a fan of the Twilight Saga, this was very cool and I can't wait to read the next book!!! : )
Very neat story, started reading on a whim on nook app when I couldn't sleep and was too lazy to get up and get my next book on book shelf. Read half the night and finished the next day. Looking forward to next book
I thought this was a cute story. I like the little mystery going on and that the reader still doesn't know what is completely going on at the end. It left me wanting to read more.
