James Earl Carter, Junior, known as Jimmy, the thirty-ninth president of the United States from 1977 to 1981, creditably established energy-conservation measures, concluded the treaties of Panama Canal in 1978, negotiated the accords of Camp David between Egypt and Israel in 1979, and won the Nobel Prize of 2002 for peace.

Ronald Wilson Reagan defeated Jimmy Carter, the incumbent, in the presidential election of 1980.

He served and received. Carter served two terms in the senate of Georgia and as the 76th governor from 1971 to 1975.

Carter created new Cabinet-level Department of education. A national policy included price decontrol and new technology. From 1977, people reduced foreign oil imports one-half to 1982. In foreign affairs, Carter pursued the second round of strategic arms limitation talks (SALT). Carter sought to put a stronger emphasis on human rights in 1979. People saw his return of the zone as a major concession of influence in Latin America, and Carter came under heavy criticism.

Iranian students in 1979 took over the American embassy and held hostages, and an attempt to rescue them failed; several additional major crises, including serious fuel shortages and the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, marked the final year of his tenure. Edward Moore Kennedy challenged significantly higher disapproval ratings of Carter for nomination of the Democratic Party before the election of 1980. Carter defeated Kennedy for the nomination lost the election to Ronald Wilson Reagan, a Republican.

Carter left office and with Rosalynn Smith Carter, his wife, afterward founded the nongovernmental center and organization that works to advance human rights. He traveled extensively to conduct, to observe elections, and to advance disease prevention and eradication in developing nations. He, a key, also figured in the project of habitat for humanity. Carter particularly vocalized on the Palestinian conflict.

Look beyond the use of old-fashioned words, like "crippled," and you will be taken by this sweet story about a good boy.

How exciting to read a picture book written by a former president! If you have read any of my reviews you know that my daughter and I have been covering Presidential History for more than two years now, chronologically from Washington to now Carter, being able to add a story penned by a president to our morning reading was very cool. Jimmy Carter if you’re reading this we would LOVE to meet you!

This is a tall-tale about a disabled boy that proves disabilities do not define a person and no one should be judged on their limitations or appearance alone; friendships can be formed in the most unlikely of places. This story was made all the better knowing it was a collaboration between a father and daughter.

In this book, ex-president Jimmy Carter once again demonstrates his versatility as a writer, creating a delightful book for children. It is a variant of a classic plot of the disadvantaged youth encountering a strange creature, (a Snoogle-Fleejer) that others consider a monster. The creature is in fact a gentle entity, working to aid the boy when his family is in dire straits.
It is a simple tale, written well so that the message is easy for young readers to understand. The book is illustrated by Carter’s daughter Amy with blurry, watercolor-like details. While not spectacular, they are worthy enough to combine with the text to make a book that I would have read to my daughter when she was young.

The Little Baby Snoogle-Fleejer by Jimmy Carter, Illustrations by Amy Carter (Times Books, New York 1995) (Fiction - Children's). This is a story that former President Jimmy Carter made up to tell his own children at bedtime. After his children were grown, they asked their father to write down the tale; this book features Jimmy Carter's story and his daughter Amy's illustrations. We received this copy as a gift following the birth of our first child. It bears the signatures of both the author and illustrator! My rating: 7/10, finished 7/13/16.

The themes are loyalty and how our assumptions about others can often be incorrect. The story isn't very interesting or surprising:

When I first read this, I got this weird impression that it was written by a youngster. Maybe a third or fourth grader who was advance for their age and got a book published. Even the name "snoogle-fleejer" sounds like something a kid made up. Imagine my SHOCK when I realized that President Jimmy Carter wrote the book! OH MY GOSH.

There are passages that are way to big for kids, and passages that are way too simplistic; yet there is no moral, point or even conclusion. It really just feels like words on a page.

This book written by President Jimmy Carter and illustrated by his daughter Amy Carter is a delightful children's tale about friendship, acceptance and love. A young physically handicapped boy named Jeremy meets a strange sea-creature, a baby Snoogle-Fleejer who looks very scary but is really quite nice. They become friends, and the creature takes Jeremy on several play-days in the sea.
Jeremy's mother, a poor woman who washes clothes for a living, falls ill and needs money to get treatment. The Snoogle-Fleejer helps Jeremy get his mother the treatment she needs.

Amy's illustrations are great. I found out that Jimmy Carter created this as a bedtime story.

A very sweet book about a boy with a handicap and a mother who is sick. The boy spends time by the sea where he meets the “monster”who takes him on adventures. One day the boy tells the “monster “ about his mom and how they don’t have money to help her. Will the monster help the boy you will have to read the book to find out!
