The new CEO and the owner of Hawkins Media Group, Zane Hawkins is officially dating to marry. After two years of on-again-off-again romance with the actress Penelope Davis, Zane is now ready to settle down.

Multiple sources confirm that it’s the recent death of his father causing him to re-think his bachelor lifestyle and consider starting a family of his own.

Who will be the lucky bride to tie down California’s most eligible bachelor? A wildly famous Hollywood actress? An activist and visionary lawyer? A humble and media-shy nurse?

If the persisting rumors are true, there’s a secret list of the most suitable candidates drawn up singlehandedly by Zane’s very capable assistant, Julie Connor. Even so, Zane has never been one to follow rules and directions.

Whoever is going to be the lucky winner, she deserves special kudos, as the road to Zane’s heart is known to go through several hoops and hurdles.

***ZANE is a spinoff of the Pleasure Extraordinaire series and follows Zane Hawkins’ sometimes humorous, other times heartbreaking, but always passionate encounters with women until he finds the one.***

This isn't even an "at least it was free" read. This is a "can't believe I wasted my time on that garbage" read.

Zane is a selfish, self-absorbed slut. I feel safe writing that, because he tells the reader that no less than forty-eleven times. He's sooooo successful as a producer (?) of a drama (?) called "Frat House" (which, if you're like me, you'll assume is an MTV-style reality tv show, but it was really unclear what, exactly, the show was). He was raised by a terrible father and differently terrible mother, which apparently explains why he's soooooo damaged.

Julie is interesting, until the chapters switch to her POV. Then she just turns pathetic. Here's what I predict for the next book(s):

- Scarlet will cheat on Zane, or betrayed his trust in some way that won't seem all that obvious, but will be The End for him.

- Julie will find some milquetoast dude to date, and Zane will get crazy-jealous, which will make them both realize they have FEELINGS for each other.

- I will not read them, because I hate all the characters in this book, can't stand the number of typos (really, changing the spelling of a character's name several chapters after the character was first introduced?!), and hated the info-dump, pseudo-backstory provided that didn't show me anything about the characters, so much as it assured that I would NOT be buying the other stories.

Zane Hawkins is a a player, he thought he had found the one to tame him but she fell for his brother. After the death of his father, rumors are spreading that Zane is looking to settle down. Zane begins looking but it doesn't stop him form sleeping around and sampling other women.

This seemed like a big ol' sex fest. I didn't find myself warming to Zane, he was a player. Had a weird moment with his brother in the office which I didn't quite understand why necessary. I wonder if it as supposed to be a play on the Real World.

I don't think I can wait for part 2. OMG, I'm heartbroken and horny all at the same time. I read part 1 all the way to the end. I have loved the Pleasure Extraordinaire series and those heart stopping gorgeous sexy men. From the beginning of the series I was hooked and this book is my new favourite. I cried, laughed and got real hot along the way too.

Zane Part 1 is funny, sad and in true Liv style highly erotic and downright naughty. Zane is in a league of his own. He is still a naughty self centred boy but shows his softer side and how broken he is from the abuse of his father and rivalry with his adopted brother. He can't help himself because he knows he's got the goods and can back it up but after losing Lindsay the prevailing emptiness starts eating at him. Add another broken soul who understands him and the abuse he suffered and you see his kindred spirit. In between the sizzle and naughtiness my heart broke for Julie and Zane. Don't make me wait too long to see if Zane finally gets his girl.

To be honest I found this storyline just plain sad. Men who treat women and themselves with So little respect are just sad; whilst the women who secretly love them and think they can change them forever are pathetic. I read to full in deep with the characters this book just made me want to go to work!!! Not good.

I've been waiting for Zane's story for a while. I love Liv Bennett's books. If you haven't read her books, I highly recommend you start with the first Pleasure Extraordinaire. Zane was the villain throughout the series, but being dumped by the love of his life has put him in a destructive, tailspin. Zane is the quintessential ladies-man who moonlights as a gigolo at Pleasure Extraordinaire. He hasn't met a woman he doesn't want to fool around with. Julie, his personal assistant, sets him up on dates in order to meet his future wife, but they all end badly. Zane wants to give up on finding a wife. He is attracted to an actress who is much younger, but if that isn't enough of a problem, he's also her boss. Liv Bennett leaves us hanging the only way she knows how to. I can't wait for Zane 2!

OK, I have to say I think this is the first time I've ever upped my rating *because* of a cliffhanger!! As I was reading this story I kept thinking what a jacka$$ Zane was. Watching (reading) his antics with woman after woman after women (yes, he has a menage) was almost distasteful even though my preferred reading is sexy books. But Julie kept me reading through, and getting more into the story - and I didn't see that twist in the story coming. And then the ending - well, I will definitely be reading the next book!

Zane, is in a slump after Lindsey picks his brother Ace instead of him. He has decided that he's sick of one "hour" stands and wants to settle down, get married and have kids. But where to start? After several disastrous dates, Zane has just about given up. Will he ever see what's right in front of his face?

More pleasure ahead

First off, I love how you write a character of questionable morality and make him lovable.
I loved all the Pleasure Extraordinaire books and I can't wait to continue the journey with the incorrigible Zane
( sigh )
Thank you for writing

Original review: https://myshelfbooks.wordpress.com/20...

When I was a kid, I saw my grandma put some lentils to her dessert yogurt. Back then, I thought that was the weirdest mix I was going to witness in my life. I guess I had to read this book to find a mix that could unseat my grandma’s special yogurt on my list. This book is short, but it has enough room to create a madness that was only lacking several dragons and one or two starships…

We have the immense honour and pleassure to meet Zane (his words, not mine), a rich guy whose lifestyle can be described with just one simple word: womanizer. But her assistant, Julie, convinces him to look for a wife. In order to easy that search, she comes with a list of possible candidates. Zane must date those girls until he finds the love of his life…

This book was free on Amazon when I got it (so I didn’t look beyond the price tag) and I only learnt it was a spin-off after reading it. I don’t think it is mandatory to read the books of Lindsay to understand the books of Zane, but I guess you could develop some sympathy for the characters that could make the reading of this one somehow bearable. That was harsh. The book is not so bad. It has a pretty good idea full of fun possibilities, but everything is butchered with forgettable characters and ridiculous situations. It doesn’t help that the book doesn’t know what identity to adopt. Sometimes is Erotica, others is Contemporary Romance, it flirts with Comedy and even Dark Romance makes a cameo. It would have been much better if the author picked one and forgot the others.

Zane as a characters is a mess. And I don’t mean cute mess you want to cuddle. No. He is a horribly written characters that drinks from the worst fountains of the Romance genre. I think the author attempts to make him cocky and confident, but the result is a vain and self-centered character who considers himself above most mortals just because he has more money and better looks… And no one tells him the opposite… Because he is Zane, eveything he does is a good thing worthy of the warmest round of applause: sex with barely legal girls, sex in front of his own brother, sex with unwilling women, unprotected sex without consent… For some strange reason, that was meant to make him look like a sexy bad boy, but the result is way grosser than that. Pure gold the moment he refuses to hug a woman, becasue he didn’t want her to fall in love with him… Keep dreaming man…

And then we have Julie. Yes, the assistant. If by reading the blurb you didn’t know the good assistant had a crush on her boss, I guess you haven’t read enough Romance (like two or three books). So… why is she so eager to hook Zane up with a random woman? Well, she explains it all, but let me tell you it doesn’t make much sense. Is it really your plan to make your boss discard all women so you can be the only choice? Have a bit of pride! And self-esteem! And good taste! Because there are thousands of better guys out there. And worst… Julie describes the perfect woman for Zane. What means she tries to describe herself… Someone should tell her we are currently living the 21st century.

Is there something else good beyond the idea? Not really. But it is short, easy to read and such a chaotic display of characters that the reading will be fast and mostly harmless. There is a second part. I know I will read it sooner or later. Maybe there will be some cleaning in Zane’s aisle…

Didn’t realize

It was a serial. Male lead was not likable, couldn’t stand his one moment thinking and treating woman as objects to slate his lust, others himself working in prostitution? wTF? One of first scenes he’s stuck in traffic and meets two girls he thinks are underage and won’t touch because of concerns of going to jail. So what does he do? They show him ID (which underage girls don’t have fake ones for bars) and bangs them both in hotel, leaving right after he’s satisfied. Only one I liked was his “secretary”

It's a quick read filled with plenty of sex, self-esteem issues, and a damage man and woman. These two trouble adults comes from a past filled with abuse that has defined their future and leave you feeling sorry for the way things are turning out for them...

This book leave you on a cliffhanger, however, I don't plan on purchasing the second book to see whatever happens with Zane, Julie and the other minor characters that have defined this book of sexual healing that will surely come to Zane and hopefully Julie

This guy is a misogynistic asshat with very little respect for women, except one and even that one he has a hard time not ogling her like a side of beef(or whatever analogy would be mouthwatering to a vegetarian, as he is one).
I don't love the female lead either, though I do sympathize with her a bit, way more than I did the male lead at least.
I'm not sure I care how this series wraps up, I guess I will have to wait and see if I get the urge to finish it.....

I do not like it when the story is short and left on a cliffhanger. Worse yet, the synopsis of the second book does not sound like it follows the first story line. It may, but the blurb was not convincing. I must say though that the story was well written and the characters came to life in my head. But because of the first three points, I could give no more than two stars.

Zane starts off being a dog and screwing anything and everything, same old Zane. Falling in love with Lindsay and losing her is making him think about a different kind of life but he just doesnt want to give up the "good life". When he makes an attempt, his past bites him. Cant wait to read part 2.

Zane

Julie loves Zane but has known him forever when her mom dropped her off to live with Sands family. Julie never sees her mother again, but is pulled into a world of sexual abuse by none other than Michael when she is 16. Years later after Michaels death she decides to win him over, but is she too late?

It wasn't at all what I was expecting. And finding out what she was doing, setting up those dates, really killed the book for me. There was so much promise and potential with the history between these two... But I can't handle the subplot.

Not a bad read at all, just not for me.

How can you not see what is in front of you

Zane has had trusted and true employee and friend in Julie. Yet he would rather wonder why him and Lindsay didn't work. Have many woman. Julie stands by with a plan but will impact fire. Will her heart be broken again.

Nope

I could not even get through the first chapter. All it talked about was sex. I am so sick and tired of sex books (pornography) being classified as romance. Where is the romance? I don't mind a very few sex scenes that are to a story.

I enjoyed the book. It was over before I knew it.

I'm not sure I would have been so attracted to a man whore. And as a reader I can't get past the main lady characters self esteem issues.

I really didn't like any of the characters. In my opinion Zane is a rapist and has no respect for women. I didn't find any redeeming qualities. I found Julie very sad. There is a cliffhanger I will read part two, but I don't have much faith part two will be any better.
