He was never supposed to fall for the coach’s daughter.
James Calder has spent his entire life earning everything he has. As Westford United’s star striker and one of the biggest names in UK football, every match matters. His career is not only his dream. It is how he provides for the family counting on him. One wrong move could cost him everything.
Allie Monroe Harris could not care less about football.
She would rather spend her days with horses than under stadium lights, dividing her time between California and the English countryside where her grandmother’s farm has always felt like home. One unforgettable night with a charming British stranger is supposed to stay exactly that. One night.
Until three years later.
The man she never forgot walks back into her life.
Only this time James discovers the truth.
She is the daughter of his legendary manager.
Completely off limits.
Every stolen moment pulls them closer, forcing James to choose between the career he has sacrificed everything to build and the only woman who has ever made him question what truly matters.
In football, every match has a winner.
But the greatest risk of James’s life is falling for her.
A forbidden love sports romance perfect for fans of Ana Huang and Becka Mack.
Blessed to have the opportunity to Beta read again for this author. I love her so much!
Synopsis: James Calder is a rising Westford United football star and British heartthrob. Allie Harris is a beautiful California sweetheart visiting her father in England. James and Allie share a fabulous night together before she travels back to the States. Fast forward two years and James can’t stop thinking about the girl who got away. Until she shows up one day at practice to visit her father. Yep, her dad is his coach. James and Allie can’t be together, it’s too risky. But how can they stop when their chemistry is so electric?
Quick Review: I absolutely adored this book. Allie and James’ romance is everything I want in a love story. Their chemistry, yearning, and shared moments were simply perfection. These tropes were so much fun and the side characters made me smile from ear to ear. I’m so thankful I had the opportunity to be a beta reader for another Jillian Marie novel and get a sneak peek at what I know will be one of the best sports romances of the year.
If you’re looking for a sports romance with a British green flag MMC who falls for the coach’s daughter, this is it! Beyond the Touchline was full of kick your feet and giggle moments, and James and Allie are and easy to fall for!
Their chemistry is instant, and I kept waiting for those moments when they’d get to be together. There’s so much yearning and forbidden tension, mixed with the sweetest moments that had me smiling at my Kindle. They definitely have to fight for each other, which made me even more invested in seeing them get their happy ending.
I loved the found family, and Allie’s supportive grandma deserves her own little fan club. There’s also just something about a British friend group with the best banter and the girls who always have each-others backs. I loved how much personality the side characters brought to the story and found myself getting attached to everyone.
Such an amazing start to the series! I’m already excited to spend more time with this group and see who falls next.
