Heather Foxglove delivers a thoroughly entertaining and captivating new instalment in the Everwilde series, masterfully blending a centuries-old curse, magic, murder, and witty dialogue.

The story follows Fate, a matchmaker used to pairing soulmates, who faces numerous obstacles alongside her partner, Dorian, a werewolf-warlock detective. When bizarre deaths disrupt a local production of Romeo and Juliet, and Dorian falls perilously ill from a kiss, the duo is plunged into chaos. To prevent further tragedy, they must race against time to unravel a deadly curse.

The palpable spark and deep familiarity between Fate and Dorian make their relationship a highlight of the book. Heather perfectly balances their evolving romance with high-stakes action, danger, a hint of spice, and internal struggles regarding their fated bond.

The natural, seamless world-building introduces shifters and magic effortlessly without bogged-down exposition. Furthermore, Heather deftly integrates past series events, providing excellent context for newcomers while keeping it fresh for returning fans. From beginning to end, this gripping storyline held my complete attention, leaving me eager to read the next chapter of their journey.

“The Fated Mates Curse” by Heather Foxglove

Sharp dialogue, murder, magic, and a centuries-old curse make this another entertaining visit to Everwilde. I received a free copy and am voluntarily sharing my honest thoughts.

Fate has spent years matching fated mates, but now that she’s finally found her own in Dorian, a warlock werewolf detective, everything seems determined to keep them apart. Deaths during a performance of Romeo and Juliet and Dorian falling ill after kissing Fate are concerning. The pair find themselves racing to stop a deadly curse before more lives are lost.

I really enjoy the mix of mystery, humor, supernatural creatures, and the wonderful banter between Fate and Dorian. Their chemistry is undeniable, and the romance develops alongside plenty of action, danger, and just the right amount of spice. The emotional struggle as they fight both the curse and their bond adds depth to their relationship.

This is the fifth book in the series, and while the mystery stands on its own, you’ll appreciate the characters and ongoing story much more if you read the series in order. I’m excited to see where the story goes next.

This is the first book that I picked up from this author and it makes me want to go read others. The world building was wonderful. Even though the magic wasn’t explained, it didn’t need to be. The way magic, shifters, and the supernatural in general were presented felt right with no explanation needed. It was the same for references to previous books in the series. Events were mentioned but they weren’t overly explained. There was enough in the context of the reference that the event didn’t need an explanation. I personally enjoyed this as it can get repetitive to hear the same explanation continuously when reading every book in a series.
I also enjoyed the plot and characters. The story kept me intrigued and the character interactions were excellent. You could feel the chemistry between Dorian and Fate. It was enjoyable how well they knew each other and how this worked into their interactions.

Snark and murder, what a wicked combination!

Once again, we find ourselves back with Fate and Mina in Everwilde. On this particular evening, Fate is out with Dorian at a theater where one of her mated couples are acting in Romeo and Juliet. The only problem is, it’s no act when both Romeo and Juliet wind up dead. When Dorian falls ill after kissing Fate, well, there is definitely trouble in paradise. I really do love these stories. They are full of humor and all different kinds of supernatural beings, from Dorian being a warlock werewolf to Fate herself being a witch fox shifter. There is danger and curses and magic, all wound together so well, I really have a problem stopping myself from continuing to turn pages way beyond bedtime.

I received a free advanced reader’s copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is the fifth book in the series, and I enjoyed it a bit more than the fourth.
Dorian and Fate, the MMC and FMC, spend much of the story struggling against the bond that ties them together. Their journey is filled with tension, conflict, and emotional moments as they try to determine whether they can break the curse that has kept their relationship from truly beginning. I enjoyed watching their dynamic develop, and I'm looking forward to seeing where the series goes next.
That said, I'm one of those readers who has to read a series in the correct order, whether that's publication order or chronological order. Because I jumped into book five without reading the previous four, I don't feel I can give this book a completely fair review. I think I'd have appreciated the characters, relationships, and overall story much more with the full context.
I received an ARC via the author's newsletter in exchange for an honest review. (Initial Review)

You'd think when Fate D'Amour gets her other half everything will be perfect, but nooooo! Because a centuries old curse is awakened, one of Fate's matched pairs is murdered; some more murders are luckily prevented. Detective Wolfe can't find any suspects or discernible motives!
"What if the curse does not need hands of its own? What if it only needs desperate humans?"
I looove every book of this series and couldn't put this down either! Where are the superlatives when you need them? 😄
If you like witches and shifters and tales with mystery, excitement, humor, lovely banter and a little spice, this is the series for you!
I promise you will enjoy every story!

Such a great story. I always love a good fated mates and this was it. The fact that the FMC, spent her time matching mates and now she’s found hers…this was so awesome in that regard. I loved the chaos and action. The pull that they had for one another. I giggled and swooned. Even the bit of spice was balanced perfectly in this. Absolutely loved it.
