A pictorial history of the medieval rulers of England profiles monarchs from William the Conqueror to Richard III, with information on their reigns, victories and defeats, romances, and more.
Want a quick summary just to touch on who was ruling when during the years from William the Conquerer to Henry VIII? Then this is the book for you. A brief summary of their reign (with many of the juicy parts taken out disappointingly) with a few facts that made them interesting and set them apart from the many other Henry's, Edwards & Richard's of the age. There are some nice pictures as well. Nothing more to say really. I would recommend this to anyone who likes a nice lite pavlova version of history, this is definitely no stodgy fruit cake.
This book was fun and informative; it had a lot of pictures which is always a plus. It didn't provide a lot of cultural context but it gave a good overview of each monarch, their leadership style and the highlights and lowpoints of their reign. It was a good jumpig off point for my month (or more) of studying the monarchs!
