A puppet regent sits on the throne of Exas, guided by powerful men who will do anything to stop the long-promised marriage between Princess Nyana and Prince Kalen.
As halovirus tears through the kingdom and assassins close in from every side, Abra's carefully constructed lies begin to unravel. The secret she’s keeping could destroy everything - including the prince she's starting to care about.
When a desperate search for a mythical cure turns deadly, Abra and Kalen find themselves hunted by enemies within the castle walls and beyond them. With allies disappearing, loyalties crumbling, and the kingdom sliding toward collapse, survival may require abandoning everything they thought they wanted.
But escaping Exas is only the beginning.
Beyond the sea lies a kingdom ruled by monsters - or so the stories claim - and the answers waiting there may be even more dangerous than the enemies they left behind.
Penelope Wright spent a quarter of her life on the east coast and the rest in Washington state. She worked her way through college in restaurants, hospitals, factories, and everything in between, finally graduating summa cum laude from the University of Washington after an absurdly long time. She loves both traditions and new experiences, and will try anything once, except skydiving, which is a hard no. She lives north of Seattle with her husband and two amazing teenagers.
I have now read the entire Rustonia AND Scavenger series to the end of this book without being able to put them down. If Penelope Wright hasn’t written more books, I will be in withdrawal. Seriously. I might jist mope around endlessly. Best new author I have discovered in decades.
Really enjoy her the writing style but I do have questions. Why is the book tilted Sand and Scythe”? Did I miss something? When will the next book come out?
