Eryn spent years putting her hometown in the rearview mirror, never wanting to revisit the events that drove her from the only home she had known. She has become a successful businesswoman with a heart of stone, moving from one critical assignment to another never in one place too long. Now on the verge of attaining that final all important promotion, she is given the final test in a project so big it will be the feather in her cap or her undoing. The only obstacle, it is the new Sports Complex in her hometown.
Noah was the older brother of Eryn’s best friend growing up and part of her extended family. Every memory he has of his childhood she is intertwined within, but after a set of tragedies in his life he has locked up all those warm memories and replaced them with a no nonsense work routine and raising his daughter as a single father . When his company wins the bid for the new Sports Complex it is the job of a lifetime for his family construction business. Unfortunately, the Project Manager from the company’s corporate office overseeing the project is a blast from his past and may push the bounds of his professional behavior.
Neither Noah nor Eryn is willing to back down from a challenge, but working together proves to be a bigger obstacle than either has experienced previously. Throw in meddling family members, and one precocious little girl and things get a lot more complicated. They are navigating a haunting past, trying to both do what they must to advance their careers and fighting their feelings in the mix.
Sometimes history isn’t linear, it’s a circle and all the running in the world just brings you one step closer to confronting the past!

This was a First Read book I won on giveaway. It is a gentle romance about a woman who 10 years ago had left her hometown after a tragedy struck her family. She has her life tightly planned out and has sworn never to return to her home. Best laid plans of course go awry and in order to succeed in her life plan she is forced to return to the people she left behind. This was okay but predictable.
This was a short, sweet story with a cute ending. The characters and the story could definitely use more development, but the numerous grammatical errors and simple mistakes that should have been edited really detracted from my enjoyment of the story.
I received a copy of this book for free through Goodreads First Reads.
I really enjoy this author's romance stories because she adds so much more in to the tales she tells. This story is about friendship and love, lost and then found again. For Eryn leaving the city of Springdale was a necessity after tragedy hit her life, now she is headed back and has to confront old friends she hasn't talked t or seen in years. The author takes readers through a story of life and love and unexpected events as she tells a story that is believable and a good one to pick up for an amazing read.
I liked the storyline, characters and the narrators voice. Erin fled her hometown ten years ago after tragedy befell her family. She has had a crush on Noah Cortland since she was 11 years old but never acted upon it. Her return because of work had her face-to-face with Noah once again. The book ended on a cliffhanger so I hope there is another book.
I won this book from Goodreads...I enjoyed how writing style and the story flowed very well. I actually finished this book in about 3 hours..a nice read. I was a little disappointed in the ending but not terribly so.
