To say Killian Walker was shocked when he discovered that not only was his father not married to his mother, but he had three half-brothers in the same situation. Facing each other for the first time at the reading of Dusty Walker’s will, the atmosphere could best be described as hostile. The terms of the will didn’t help matters. Spending a week in Red Creek, Kansas in Dusty’s house and Dusty’s business was just not on his agenda of things to do. But if he wanted the money to start his own ranch, he’d have to grit his teeth and man up.
Lexie Choate had big dreams about success in the world of art. Her teachers at Savannah School of Art praised her talent and told her she was a shoo-in to win the prize of a gallery show of her own. The last thing she expected was for the man who stole her heart to also steal the prize from her. She ran back to Red Creek, to heal her broken heart and recover from her disappointment. As the owner of Heart Starter, the popular coffee shop in town, she was busy building a new life for herself, while she continued to paint in secret. Hope never dies.
When Killian walked into Heart Starter the chemistry between the two of them was instant and explosive, but neither of them was looking for anything long term. She wanted to get back into the world of art. He was planning to build his ranch and not in Nowhere, Kansas. One week, they agreed. One week to enjoy each other, then goodbye. Funny thing, though, just when you think you’ve got everything planned out, life has a fanny way of turning your life upside down.

The Sons of Dusty Walker is a series of four books, one about each son, writen by four award winning authors. There will be mature themes and (I promise) HOT cowboys along with interestng secondary characters and strong plots. It is a difficult task for writers with diffferent styles to remain true to the overall feeling and values of a series being written by multiple authors. These authors did a fantastic job also resulting in four books that not only flow together wonderfully but strongly stand alone.
Killian Walker is descended from Irish cowboys in Montana. Raised mainly by his mother due to his father's excessive travel schedule for work, when he matured, Killian went to work for a local ranch family trying to educate himself about all facets of running a ranch business. His longterm goal is to breed and train Appaloosas. He doesn't have time for a committed realtionship, but when his father dies in an accident, along with a wife Killian never knew his father had, he finds himself dressed in an uncomfortable suit sitting at a long table in a lawyer's office with three other men around his age that look remarkably like him. He can tell none of them knew of the half-brothers existence, and they all looked as uncomfortable as he felt. If Killian had his way he'd take his share of any cash, put it towards his ranch dream, and never see the others again. Now added to his sense of loss he felt bitter, angry and betrayed. He struggles to hold in his sarcastic nature. Killian values honesty and being forthright. His parents did raise him to respect others until they proved themselves undeserving of respect.
Killian never expected to find an angel running a coffee shop in this hole-in-the-wall town in Kansas. With his first glimpse of Lexie Choate, owner of Heart Starter, his heart stopped. Little did he know that Lexie has more secrets than her artistic talent. I will warn you here that this is the darker, more adventurous, mature adult storyline of the series. Don't let that scare you off. Like one of his half-brothers, Killian is honest about his desire but makes it clear that when his required week is up, he is going back to Montana.
By now, the town has gotten to know a little more about the mysterious sons of Dusty Walker and feel it is their duty to educate the sons on the parts of their father they did not know about, just as the employees of D Walker Mineral Company are trying to educate him about his father's company. Perhaps there will be other types of education involved in Killian's week, perhaps with him doing some instruction.
I am willing to bet after reading any one book in the series you will want to return to Red Creek and continue reading. I did receive an advance copy of the four books in exchange for my honest review.
It is quite amazing for four authors with different writing styles to come together and write a four books series called The Sons of Dusty Walker. Each author wrote about a different son and the results are truly fantastic.
If you have read any of her books, you know that everything she writes is well-written, has a great story-line and wonderful characters. She captivates you from the very first page and holds you in her grip until the very end.
The Sons of Dusty Walker: Killian is yet another great story that has a mixture of angst, turmoil, humor, heartache, overwhelming emotions, attraction, sizzling chemistry, which all eventually leas to love.
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
This is book 3 of this series and I did not read the first two and it can be read as a standalone.
Killian is upset, rightfully so, when he finds out that he had three half-brothers and that Dusty was never married to his mother. For some reason, Killian now believes that he will never be able to have a family or remain faithful to any woman.
As part of Dusty's will, Killian must spend a week in Red Creek Kansas to become more familiar with Dusty's mineral rights company. Having no plans to stick around after the week is over, Killian flies into town with a bad attitude toward the city and worse towards his late father.
When he spots Lexie Choate behind the counter at her coffee shop, his heart skips a beat and before he knows it, he's asking her out. Lexie knows the score, knows that he's one of Dusty's sons and will do his week in town and leave as fast as the jet will take him back to whatever part of the country he came from.
Seeing that hot cowboy, gets Lexie all stirred up and when Killian asks her out, she doesn't hesitate to stay yes. After all, why not have a fling with a guy that you won't have to see again after a week? Even if heart wants him to stay, she's not begging for anything.
Killian Walker was angry. He had 3 half brothers Each had different Mothers but they all had the same Father ......... Dusty Walker a selfish cheating man. Was this his future would he be a cheating man, well he wasnt about to find out, he had a dream of raising horses and because he wasn't going to get close to a women he wouldn't have to worry about being like his Father.......... Then he saw her and he stopped breathing. Lexi ran her bakery, she had came home a few years ago. No one knew why but. she had her secrets Knew that the hurt Was still there. She kept her secrets in a sunny room where she went to have her dream soothe her soul . She was happy. Then he walked in and she felt things she had never felt ....... Desiree Holt bring you a story of how you can have a one track mind and it almost takes everything away. Was he going to lose it all or could he save it.............. he couldn't loses his Dream, but most if all ......Lexie
Dusty was married to a woman who didn't want children but he did. So he cheated on her with four different women and each of them had a son. Now he's dead and those sons have discovered the truth. To get their large inheritance they must learn his business and spend time with each other. This series has a book about each son and Killian is the oldest one spending his designated week learning the business. It is a standalone with an ending but I recommend reading the series in order.
Killian is twisted up after finding out the truth and has no interest in the mineral business. He wants to raise horses in Montana far away from his dad's business and his half brothers but then he meets Lexie. He makes a mess of things so he's lucky that she's understanding. Hot bedroom action with just a little bondage.
The saga of Dusty Walker's sons continue. This story is about Killian the eldest son. During his week, he meets the local owner, of the coffee shop. There is an immediate attraction which he finds difficult to handle.
Desiree Holt has brought us yet another incredible western romance. At the forefront of the story is Killian Walker, a man who along with his brothers, has had his life turned upside down by revelations of a dead man's escapades. He's spent his entire life believing things were a certain way, believing he was a certain way...only to find out he knew nothing about his father or himself. Raised by his mother, with only occasional visits with his now deceased father, Dusty Walker, Killian soon finds himself in a battle of wills with his father's wishes, his self-perceptions and his own heart.
In the picturesque town of Red Creek, Killian is greeted with warm and sincerity from the many...many friends of his father. He not only has to prove he can run his father's company...he must prove to himself that he can fill Dusty's shoes without wearing them all of the time and meeting Lexi Choate makes that more than just a little difficult.
Lexi Choate, a complex and beautiful but slightly broken woman, is the town's surrogate daughter. Having someone like Killian Walker who won't be there for more than a week, traipse into town and hurt her is not something they'll stand for. However, in all of their protectiveness, they've forgotten that Lexi Choate can hold her own. She's a strong woman who isn't going to fall under the pressure and heat burning between her and Killian.
Two people. Two hearts that need to be mended. And one man's dying wish turns out to be the best thing that could have ever happened to them.
I loved that Killian and Lexi were both...imperfect. Each have their scars, Killian's more recent and prominent. But, his biggest battle was that of the mind. I enjoyed watching him evolve in this story. We saw the sad little boy trapped inside of a disillusioned man change into the man he was always meant to be. None of that would've been possible without the father he was so angry at. More than once, I found myself feeling sorry for him. Even when he didn't exactly deserve my pity. Thankfully, his mama raised him right and she came into the picture.
We saw Lexi fall hard for this cowboy, though she'd only planned on being with him for a week (and we all know how that goes). Lexi's battle was also with her own mind. Scared of being hurt again and knowing she must jump right into things or lose another piece of herself... that's when I really rooted for her. But when BOTH of them finally shut out the negative voices in their heads and listened to their hearts...another world opened up for them. One that I truly enjoyed visiting.
I recommend this hot, heartwarming read to anyone who needs a truly feel good...all over...story.
Thank you, Desiree Holt for giving us that one story that could make any rainy day warm and inviting! You have a phenomenal talent for creating places and people that reach right through the book and grab onto our hearts. This one is no exception. I feel a bit sad that I've had to leave Red Creek. But, I'll be visiting again and again.
This is the third book of four about Dusty Walker's sons. Each book can be read as a stand alone though and each book gives you more information about what kind of man Dusty Walker really is. The story opens in each of the books with the sons finding out about each other at the reading of their father's will. It then goes on to tell about each one's week learning about Dusty and the company he has built. Each son had an amazing relationship with their mothers and their mothers loved Dusty Walker with all their heart. Dusty, with the help of all the mothers has a photo diary of all 4 sons that starts with their birth and continues right up till he dies in the car accident.
Next in the series is Killian who is the oldest at 27, is a ranch hand that has had a lifelong dream of raising Appaloosas and lives in Montana. Written by the incredible Desiree Holt, who can tell a story.
After spending half a day at his fathers office Killian decides he needs some fresh air. Abby the receptionist tells him about Heart Starters coffeehouse. She also tells him not to come back without her a honey bun. Lexie Choate is the owner of Heart Starters. Lexie came back to Red Creek to start over after having her heart broken and her career crushed. When Killian walks in and sees Lexi for the first time his heart stops with lust. So Killian and Lexie make the decision to have some fun for a week. Little does Lexie know that Killian has a darker side that she decides she loves.
Killian is a natural in the business because Dusty started taking him when he was little on jobs. But it's not his dream job. He has some hard decisions to make as his week in Red Creek is coming to a close. Will Killian be able to leave at the end of the week or has Lexie totally captivated him. Will the brothers become a family? Will Killian give up his dream of raising Appaloosa's? You will need to read this awesome book to find the answers to these questions and get the whole story.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Killian finds out he has three brothers at the reading of his father's will. None of them knew of each other's existence. Plus they each now are equal partners in their father's business. Their dad wrote a provision in the will that they need to spend one week within the next 30 days intheir father's hometown, in his home and learning the business. The brothers agree to do one week each and to meet at the end of the 30 days. Killan is not happy about the terms of the will but he comes to do his week and then plans on getting the heck out of there afterwards. Then he meets Lexi. At first he still plans on one week only, in that time he will get to know Lexi and she knows it's only one week. You can't predict love or control it, so that week gets interesting. Lexi and Killian are pretty hot couple that was very entertaining to read about. I admire all four authors as they all stayed true to the premise and did a great job with each their stories. You could choose to read one or all four of these stories as they really could be stand alone but I would recommend reading all four because they are all great books.
I've been devouring this amazing new series, The Sons of Dusty Walker and the third book is Killian's story written by the fabulous Desiree Holt. She did a great job showing his pain and anger at the discovery that his father had other families beside his own and his fear of turning out to be like him. Killian's pain really tugged at my heart because he was the oldest son and the weight of Dusty's actions seemed to hit home more heavily on Killian. I also couldn't help the excitement of seeing the rope that was his cushion and comfort because I knew that it also represented the darker sexual desires he craved. Lexie was the perfect woman for him in every way. These two had amazing chemistry together and the sexual heat between them just scorched the pages. I liked that they got to know each other as well while satisfying their hunger for one another which included a little rope play that was freakin' hot. It was great seeing Killian finally realizing who he was with Lexie's help and that he could love a woman and being committed to her. Another winner by one of my favorite authors who always deliver a great story with characters I love.
This is book 3 in a 4 book series that should be read together. Below are the list of books in this series and the authors who wrote the books: Dylan (The Sons of Dusty Walker, #1) by Jodi Redford Jackson (The Sons of Dusty Walker, #2) by Randi Alexander Killian (The Sons of Dusty Walker Book 3) by Desiree Holt Rogue (The Sons of Dusty Walker, #4) by Sable Hunter
At the beginning of this series Dusty has just died. Four men who are around the same age as each other are half-brothers but didn’t know it find themselves in a lawyer’s office. There are things the brothers must all must do in order to fulfill a requirement that was requested by Dusty. Each of the books in this series deals with one brother.
Killian needs startup money but is not happy about the requirements. He is about to make a week long deal that will change all the things he thought he wanted. Can he walk away at the end of the week? Or will he be looking to extend his week to forever?
I loved these characters and also the side characters. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
The Walker Brother's world is turned upside down after the passing of their father and when they go to their father's lawyer for the reading of the will and finds out that they he had families across the country. Furthermore, there's also a stipulation in the will that they must spend time in their father's home (a week) and learn the family business to receive their inheritance.
This is the third book in this multi-author lineup and about the oldest brother Killian who's hurting and shocked by the actions of the man he considered his father. He puts up with the stipulation of the will so that he can purchase his own ranch. On a trip to the town's coffee shop Heart Starter he comes in contact with the owner Lexi and the chemistry is instant. Before he knows it he ask her out and she agrees because she knows the best way to get over a heartbreak is to have a fling and with who better than one of Dusty's sons who won't be there for long anyway. Well as the saying goes best laid plans aren't love proof.
Book 3 of THE SONS OF DUSTY WALKER is just as good as the other books in this series. I highly recommend reading these 4 books by 4 different authors. Dusty Walker had 4 sons, each written by a different author telling each son's story. Desiree Holt did a remarkable job telling us about Killian walker. The oldest of the 4 boys. Each needing to spend one week in Red Creek to learn the business and connect with each other. Killian meets Lexi at her coffee and pastry shop and it's love at first sight although he's only staying the required week. he enjoys his time with Lexi but fights his feelings as he's determined to leave. The sparks are hot between these two but is it enough to make him stay?
Week 3. Killian the oldest. Killian is the oldest of the Dusty Walker Sons. After meeting his half brothers at the will reading of his late father and hearing of Dusty's "harem" of other women, Killian wants absolutely nothing to do with anything Dusty.
Lexie is the owner of Heart Starter. After getting burned by a man she thought she loved in college, she's returned home to lick her wounds. She has no need for a man in her life. But after meeting Killian and dating during his week in Red Creek she can no longer deny she's fallen in love with Killian Walker.
Can Killian get past his belief that he'll never be able to be faithful like his dad? Will Lexie be burned again after opening her heart?
'Killian: The Sons of Dusty Walker' by Desiree Holt is an awesome read. The Sons of Dusty Walker is a collection from four amazing authors about four brothers that first learn of the others after the death of their father. This is Killian's story. Desiree picks up the story after 'Dylan' by Jodi Redford and 'Jackson' by Randi Alexander. I loved reading about Killian and Lexie. This story is a smoking hot read! Amazing addition to this collection. Highly recommend to all fans of romance and cowboys. Looking forward to reading what happens next in this amazing set in 'Rogue' by Sable Hunter.
Killian may be the master of rope but Lexie hogtied his heart and didn't let it go.
This installment of the eldest of Dusty sons was eye-opening. Genes go a long way but the heart of a person is not in their bad choices but in the meaning in their actions after those choices. Killian had to come to terms of Dusty but the road us not smooth. Bumping his head hard and getting a swift kick from the woman he loves most (his mother) shined the light on what the entire town was trying to reveal.
Killian and Lexie were such likeable characters. I think they were my favorite of this series so far. I would love to have one week with Killian. The chemistry between the two just blew me away. Desiree Holt has a knack for writing such great characters. As with the other two books Dylan and Jackson, I just couldn’t put this one down. This series is really cutting into my sleeping time but with stories this well written, who cares. I highly recommend this read.
Desiree Holt has done it again. A well written story. This is one fantastic series each book can stand alone but they are better together. Killian wormed his way into my heart but what can I say each of them ended up in my heart. I encourage each of you to go get this book and the others you will never regret it. Each of the stories deal with a son of Dusty Walker and how they deal with the fact they have brothers that they never knew about. A wonderful set of books and this one is a keeper!!!!
Third in "The Sons" set, Killian arrives in Red Creek to complete his week as per the will, but carrying all the frustration and pain at the revelations following his father's death. A cowboy with emotional baggage, looking to run, wasn't expecting to be stopped in his tracks at the coffee shop, Lexie takes his breath and maybe his heart. This story continues the journey of this fledgling family, emotion packed, mystery, steamy, sexy, all making this thoroughly enjoyable must read.
Ahhhh yes, just what I expected, another fantastic read from Desiree Holt. Killian (The Sons of Dusty Walker book 3) by Desiree Holt is a well written book with drama and humor and 5 alarm fire sex scenes. I loved Killian's story! The characters were fun to read and I enjoyed this book from start to finish. I look forward to reading more from Desiree Holt soon. While Killian is book 3 in a series, it can be read as a stand alone. This is a complete book, not a cliffhanger.
3.5 stars. Sometimes I just need a little cowboy fluff with a side of kink. This fit the bill nicely. 4 brothers are thrown together when their father dies, none of them knowing the other brothers existed. Their father's will brings them all to his ranch in Kansas hoping that the boys will bond and keep the family business going (of course Dad was a multi millionaire). These are four different books about each brother by four different writers. I liked this one enough to buy Dylan's next.
I'm a huge fan of Desiree Holt, and she didn't disappoint with this one either. She was the only author who've I've had any prior knowledge of. After just feeling so-so from the second book in the series, she brought me back to fully loving it again.
I think Killian is my favourite Walker brother so far, almost identical to what my 'dream' guy would be.
I have enjoyed this series, it's been great getting to know the Walker Brothers. This series should be read in the right order to get the most of the books. So if you like hot cowboys, with feisty heroines you will enjoy this book.
I loved Desiree's take on Killian's story. These Walker men are hot, strong, handsome, and flawed. The sex is hot Holt style. Alexis is sweet, passionate, and loyal. I hope to see more of this couple. .
This is the third book in the series. They have all been awesome!! So far I think this one has been the best. I am looking forward to the next book. I have found another book boyfriend. Dylan, Jackson and Lillian are my kind of alpha. The series is well worth the read!!!!
This is the 3rd book in the Dusty Walker series and deals with the oldest Killian and his thinking. He doesn't want to be like his Dad and despite what everyone tells him he has his own thoughts on his Dad. It will take the love of a good woman to prove him wrong.
