Yes, read this book at work and see how your day goes lol! 😝 I am liking where this storyline is headed. It actually would be nice for someone wanting to write BDSM or learn more about it. It sounds like it’s more than a name, it’s a way of life - Joslyn and her judgmental behavior are in for a surprise.

Ebony Room
I love how this story is unfolding, but Joslyn was just so off putting. I would have loved to read it from Rebecca’s pov. Joslyn couldn't even do her research because she was too busy being judgmental, when she could have been getting flogged.

I found this book to be enjoyable. I thought I wouldn’t finish it at one point, even though it was so short. I kinda found it dull in some parts because of the over-explanation of the BDSM lifestyle. For instance, in the mansion, there was just a bounty of all the various kinks and it was a little overwhelming. The writing could’ve been a little bit more singular but I get why it was written this way.
But what got me was the ending. Rebecca invited Joslyn as her guest. She knows she's vanilla to this world, so when Joslyn interrupted the scene, she was legit under the impression that her friend was in danger. As someone who puts the S in BDSM, from the very beginning, Rebecca should have explained that what you'll see here tonight is completely consensual and nothing will be against anyone's will, and that includes anything that you may see with me.
A key principle of BDSM is communication and Rebecca did not communicate with her friend. Even when Joslyn humbly apologized, she wasn't trying to hear it, even though she's at fault, too lol. Like, how do you have this stranger explaining their world to Joslyn instead of... you? LOL overall, good book. Ready to read Part 2.

Finally an Ebony story line!
I’ve read some really good POC BDSM stories. Some incorporated into series and romantic stories. Still, there aren’t enough POC BSDM characters . This is a different side of someone new this world. This is not someone who is helpless and I love the honesty of the characters. Can’t wait to read more in this series and from this author.

Black man is not a description
I'm so disappointed in this book. I wanted to like it, I did, but the author can describe the vibrancy of a room but has no description for the men in the book. She consistently calls them fine black man. She also used brown skinned black man. I want more from authors that choose races outside their own.

I'm Confused 😕
Although I would hope that I wouldn't react as Joshlyn did when seeing her friend engaged in that behavior, I had some questions too. It's a lot going on. This book is a guide. I'm taking in the lesson.

curiosity embarrassed the cat
I enjoyed this introductory story. I too would have had all the same concerns as the FMC . It felt real for someone who it not similar with the community in real life. When she was embarrassed I was too lol. A novel laced with curiosity.

good short read
Jos gave me the vibe she wanted information to shame the community. She wanted to learn more for her book but still saw things how she wanted to see them instead of listening to the people involved. Let’s see if she can make things right with Rebecca.
