As a fan of Heidi Perks' writing, I was excited to read this new novel, and it certainly didn't disappoint. I'm not sure if it's her style, her ability to tell a good story, or simply that everything she writes turns to gold, but I was hooked, line and sinker.
Addie is woken in the middle of the night by something. As she enters her kitchen, she sees a flicker of light near the woods at the bottom of her garden. The following morning, a young woman, Ella Walsh, is washed up onto the shore — her coat positioned exactly the same way Addie's husband's coat was found fifteen years ago, when he jumped off the same cliffs.
His death was ruled a suicide, backed up by his suicide letter, despite his patients refusing to accept that he would have taken his own life. Now, fifteen years later, another death has occurred. Could it be linked to his? And if so, there may be a serial killer out there. Norah, Addie's daughter, who is studying at university in Bath, returns home to Cornwall to comfort her mother and soon begins investigating possible links between this woman and her father's death, with the help of her best friend.
As the community rallies together, spreading rumours and gossip, Addie reflects on her relationship with her deceased husband, and it soon becomes apparent that the loveable, caring doctor everyone remembers was living a very different life within his family. While Addie maintains this façade to everyone else, behind closed doors she remembers a very different story.
Norah's determination to find the truth threatens to destroy a friendship, as well as the very person she loves and wants to protect.
This is an easy and enjoyable read, following the investigation through multiple perspectives. Each character is given a voice and developed in a way that reinforces a sense of community and gossip within a small, tight-knit village.

No One Is Safe Here — Heidi Perks

This one had me hooked from the very first paragraph. Set in a small Cornish coastal town, with an isolated house on the cliffs and a community where everyone seems to know everyone’s business, the atmosphere was completely up my street. It actually gave me Alice Feeney vibes at times, which I loved.

Unfortunately, after such a strong start, I struggled with the pacing. It felt very slow for a large portion of the book and there were quite a few characters introduced early on, which initially left me trying to remember who was who. At times the story also felt a little disjointed, and I found myself getting distracted rather than desperate to pick it back up.

That being said, it definitely kept me guessing. I suspected SO many people throughout and got several of my theories completely wrong 😂. There were some darker revelations I genuinely wasn’t expecting, and the final 15–20% finally gave me that edge-of-my-seat feeling I’d been waiting for.

My biggest disappointment was that I felt we discovered the identity of the killer too soon. Once that happened, some of the remaining story lost its urgency for me and I was left wondering what I was still waiting to discover.

There was a lot I liked here, the beautiful Cornish setting, the atmosphere, the secrets and the constant suspicion, but ultimately the slow pacing stopped me from becoming fully invested. I just wanted a little more of that tension from the final section throughout the rest of the book.

I was initially attracted by the book’s cover and I always enjoy books by Heidi Perks, as they are very easy to slip into, and I find myself engrossed by the world she has created.

At the heart of the story is Addie Myers, who lives in a house at the top of the cliffs on the Cornish coast, the same cliffs her doctor husband jumped from fifteen years ago. His body has never been recovered but now on the anniversary of his death a woman’s body has been found on the beach at almost exactly the same spot. Addie and her daughter must try to uncover the truth of both suspicious deaths and until they do no one is safe !!

As with her previous books, the author drew me in with her wonderful character-driven narrative and excellent plot, however this was a book of two halves for me. Part one has a slow-burn type of pace, as we learn about the characters, with hints of the secrets they are hiding, but then in part two the story gathers momentum as the tension rises and the plot unfolds with twists and layered characters that kept me on edge until the very end.

What also impressed me was the way the author effectively establishes the setting through vivid descriptive language, creating a strong sense of claustrophobic, small town atmosphere. The house perched on the cliff feels lonely and ominous.

The first half was a little slower than I would have liked but I devoured the second half, so stick with it - you won’t be disappointed. This is one to pick up if you enjoy creepy small town mysteries.

I found No One Here Is Safe to be another fantastic read from Heidi Perks as I expected. She’s quickly become one of those authors whose books I never hesitate to pick up because I know I’m in for a gripping story, and this one certainly didn’t disappoint. I was super excited when this arc request was approved and couldn’t wait to dive in.
From the very first chapter, I was completely hooked. The mystery surrounding the body found beneath the cliffs immediately drew me in and I loved how the story gradually revealed its secrets without ever giving too much away. Every time I thought I’d figured things out, another twist had me questioning everything all over again which I love!
The characters felt incredibly real especially Addie and Norah, and I became so invested in uncovering the truth alongside them. The coastal setting added an eerie atmosphere that perfectly complemented the suspense making it impossible not to keep turning the pages well into the night.
The pacing was perfection balancing mystery, emotion and tension beautifully, and the ending was both satisfying and surprising. This is exactly the kind of psychological thriller I love one that keeps you guessing right until the very last page.
Overall, another brilliant novel from Heidi Perks that reminded me why I enjoy her books so much. If you’re a fan of atmospheric mysteries, family secrets and clever twists, I can’t recommend this one enough.📚✨

Fifteen Years ago, Addie’s husband’s body was found at the base of a cliff. Now another body has been found at the same spot! Coincidence? Or a copy-cat? Or a serial killer? In both cases a coat was left on the cliff, folded in the same way, suggesting a connection. Adie’s husband had been the much loved family doctor, so many refused to believe the suicide verdict in his case, suggesting that the police had not investigated properly at that time. This new case involves a young woman, a stranger to the town of Porth Morva, in Cornwall, and requires a full team from Truro under a DI. Inevitably the first case has to be reopened. Is there a connection, did the police involved with that first case get it wrong? Addie and her daughter Norah must wait anxiously in their clifftop home, just a short walk from the site.
As usual with Heidi the plotting is clever, the ending surprising, the writing excellent. Although it starts very slowly, even drags a bit, as we get all the pieces in place, it picks up pace as facts are revelated and the ending is genuinely unpredictable until your actually on it. A solidly enjoyable read.

As usual in my reviews, I will not rehash the plot!

I've read several books by Heidi Perks and always enjoyed them, so was delighted to be invited to review this novel.

As usual with Heidi's novels, this story was compelling. The backstory establishes that Addie (the main character) was presumed widowed years earlier, after the apparent suicide of her husband close to their cliffside home in Cornwall - however his body was never found. Cue the present day discovery of a woman's body at the same spot - had the mysterious visitor to the town committed suicide, or was it murder? Were the two deaths linked? What follows is the unravelling of several mysteries, with more than one plot twist that kept me guessing...

The characters were well written (including the more unpleasant ones) and believable, and the book captured the rather claustrophobic feeling that some small towns have, especially to those who live there.

Already looking forward to Heidi's next novel.

It's 15 years since Addie's husband Matthew disappeared and was presumed to have committed suicide. His coat was left neatly folded on the cliffs near their remote house in Cornwall, However his body was never found. In the meantime Addie continued to live in the house with her daughter Norah who is now a University student. Then a young woman's body is found below the cliffs, her coat neatly folded and left in the same spot as Matthew's all those years earlier. Soon the community start to wonder if the two incidents are related in some way, Was Matthew murdered and did the same person murder the young woman. Norah's friend Bea decides to do some investigating of her own and Norah also tries to find out more about the father she barely remembers. I’m a long‑time fan of Heidi Perks, and 'No One Here Is Safe' is exactly the kind of tense, atmospheric thriller she does so well. Set on the Cornish cliffs, the story follows Addie, whose husband’s apparent suicide fifteen years ago still haunts her — especially when a young woman is found dead in the exact same spot, her coat left just as his was.

Addie’s daughter Norah returns home and begins digging into both deaths, uncovering unsettling truths about the father she barely remembers and the tight‑knit community that has been whispering ever since his death. The mystery builds steadily: the first half is a slow burn, but the second half is packed with tension, twists, and revelations that make it impossible to put down.

The Cornish setting is wonderfully atmospheric, the characters feel real, and the plot is clever, emotional, and full of surprises. A gripping, twisty read — and another excellent thriller from Heidi Perks.

This book had be slightly underwhelmed , it has a good premise but it missed the mark for me. It was good but was just good. It took a while to get going , once it did it was decent and caught my attention but the build up was a little tedious and frustrating. I have found this to be a similar theme with this author for me unfortunately.

How did Matthew die? Was it suicide, an accident or was it murder. 15 years later there has been a copycat incident, is it the same person?

This book is set in a coastal Cornish town where everyone knows everyone and is in everyone’s businesses so someone must know something right?

Norah embarks on a search for answers for what happened to her dad, but will she uncover the wrong secrets.

Addie lives on a clifftop in the Cornish town of Porth Morva, along with her daughter, Norah, who is at university in Bath.

The story starts with the discovery of a woman’s body at the foot of that same clifftop. The whole town is in shock, but none more so than Addie because the spot is below the exact same cliff where her husband, Matthew, jumped to his death fifteen years before.

Norah was only six years old when she lost her father and doesn’t have many memories of him, so she and her best friend, Bea, start investigating and trying to find exactly what led to her dad’s death. Little did they know that they’d be opening a huge can of worms.

A brilliant, gripping read which I really enjoyed.

Another good psychological thriller from Heidi Parks. Something of a family drama mixed with a mystery, the Cornwall set novel sees Addie living in the cliffside home from where her husband disappeared. Ruled as a suicide, but still suspicious as the popular doctor's body was never found. And then a young woman falls - or is pushed - to her death from the exact same spot.

Addie's daughter Norah never really knew her father, and is understandably curious. The new death makes her look into the circumstances and she finds several new facts that contradict what was thought at the time. But who is lying?

The novel has a good premise and, although feeling a little slow in the middle section, ends strongly when the truth begins to emerge. Overall it's a good and gripping read.

I have read many of Heidi’s books and this was another fantastic read which I couldn’t put down.

Addie lives alone at the top of a cliff along the Cornish coast. After a women’s body is found on the beach the town pull together to try to uncover what happened. This brings up the past for both Addie and her daughter and soon things begin to spiral.

The setting was excellent and really added to the suspense of the story. The characters were excellently written and I really felt for both Addie and Norah as the story progressed.

A fantastic read which kept me gripped right to the end with plenty of twists and turns and a great ending

2.5 stars, rounded up. I won’t be recommending this book. I thought the premise was interesting but was not followed through well. There was too much of an expectation to suspend disbelief - or perhaps, it was that I needed to do so but the author hadnt intended it.

I grew up in a coastal area, my mum was from a different coastal area. You know the sea like the back of your hand, particularly if you live so close to it. I found that part of the plot depended on characters not knowing about tides implausible.

I know it’s a little thing but I also found a protagonist trying to get an uber in a tiny coastal town also implausible. It really took me out.

What a brilliant read. No One Here Is Safe had me hooked from the first few chapters and never really let go.

Heidi Perks does a fantastic job of building tension, slowly revealing just enough to keep you questioning everyone and everything. Every time I thought I’d worked it out, the story took another turn.

The characters felt believable, the pacing was spot on, and the suspense kept building right through to a satisfying ending. It’s one of those books that makes you want to keep reading “just one more chapter”.

If you enjoy psychological thrillers with plenty of twists, strong character development and an ending that genuinely surprises, this is well worth picking up.

Addie's husband is believed to have jumped from the cliff. He left his coat neatly folded and fifteen years later a woman's body has been found at the same spot, with her coat neatly folded too.

Addie's husband was the local GP and most people can't believe he would have ended his life in this way and think the police didn't really do a thorough investigation.

His daughter, Norah, was very young at the time but is now unsure whether Ella's death is a coincidence or is there a connection linking the two deaths.

Encouraged by her friend, Bea, who is an inspiring journalist, she starts her own investigation

This book must be as good as it gets! It had everything.

Main themes are family and friendship. Toxic relationships sound so tricky to deal with. I loved the daughter Norah and her lifelong pal, Bea.

There is a guy called Leo.
I switched between thinking he was a rare example of a good male role model ...or was he a serial killer.

The plot evolved ever so smoothly and the author deserves much credit for the range of possibilities that kept arising.

Now the ending - I missed hearing more from Lucas. I did enjoy how things turned out. Justice and fairness are well balanced.

Addie has found a life following the sudden death of husband. Her daughter is away in uni and she is in a new relationship with Leo…. However the past won’t stay hidden. The sudden death of a young woman raises questions. Nothing is quite what it seems. There are sone chapters that made my jaw drop not at all where I expected the story to go. As the book goes on it leaves the reader with questions. A real page turner a book to get your teeth into as I certainly wanted to know the answers

I really enjoyed this book. Set in a Cornish coastal village it starts with the body of a woman being found on the beach below the cliffs. The whole village is shocked, especially Addie, who lives in a house on the cliff above the beach. 15 years ago Addie's husband allegedly jumped to his death from the same spot, although his body was never found. Now everything is being dragged up again. This is a tale of long kept secrets that will keep you guessing right to the end.

This is a slightly slower burn, and at first I thought it wasn't for me, but then everything changed.
Heidi is becoming an auto read for me and this one is another great story based in Cornwall.
If you prefer your books to match the seasons be sure to read this one late winter.
Overall I enjoyed this one and recommend you stick at it if you pick it up

Heidi Perks’ No-One Is Safe Here is a pacy thriller set in a small, close-knit community where secrets and suspicion keep the reader constantly guessing. The atmosphere is tense and engaging, with the community dynamics adding depth to the mystery. However, a hinted romance feels underdeveloped, and the ending ties up loose ends a little too conveniently, reducing the impact of the suspense built earlier. Overall, it’s a gripping read that entertains, even if some threads don’t fully deliver.

Thanks to Netgally and Penguin Random House for this ARC. This is my favourite Heidi Perks book to date and i’ll forever remember reading it whilst staying in Cornwall on the coastal path! With two plots running through the narrative, I couldn’t quite see how they were going to be linked so it definitely kept me guessing and I raced through the second half of the book.

I'll be honest, I did consider DNFing this book at around the 30% mark, but I'm actually really glad that I didn't. I found the story VERY slow to get started, but by the end I was genuinely invested in the characters and really keen to find out exactly what had happened.

I don't know that I would rush to recommend this, but I did enjoy it in the end. 3.5 stars rounded up.

Addie living alone since the death of her husband Matthew 15 years ago has settled into life as a widow in her cliff top home, her daughter Norah is away at uni in Bath and life seems settled until a body of a young girl called Ella is washed up on the cliffs mirroring the way Matthew had died 15 years previously, the similarities cause unrest within the family and the community as a whole, as the revered local doctor Matthew’s death is re investigated by both the police and his daughter Norah bringing back awful memories for Addie who knew the real Matthew and how and why he died!
Revelations , shocks, surprises and twists are revealed proving that people aren’t always what they seem

loses her husband, the beloved local GP and the whole seaside town mourned his loss. Then a woman is found dead after falling from the cliff path. Are the deaths linked? Norah, Addies daughter, starts trying to understand what exactly happened to her father, who she didn’t really remember. This book is intriguing and has so many red herrings that had me shocked by the outcome.

Loved following the main characters, Norah and Addie, throughout the story. Lots of twists along the way.. the ending had me gasping.

Full of suspense. What happened to Matthew? Some great twists in the second half of the book. I couldn't put it down. Highly recommended.
