Huge thanks to Samantha from The Smuthood, and the author Emily Silver for sharing this ARC with me!

Unfortunately, I have to DNF at 22%, but the reason for it shouldn’t be a biggie to many people. It’s just my personal preference…

I applied for this arc because I do love age gap trope and I try to read single mom tropes as much as I can as well! I tried to ignore the dead wife trope, especially after finding out it’s been maaaaaany years since his wife died, but the line has been crossed when his friends call him a womaniser, and he admits it’s been a decade since he had his fair share of women. And I really really do not want to read about dead wife+reformed manwhore combo, just no.

The MMC annoyed me a lot as well when he said that he needs to get the FMC out of his system by registering on some dating app early on, and nothing annoys me that much as men saying shit like that 🤡 do you really want to believe me you want the FMC if your first thought is to look for some other woman to get the fmc out of your system? Like really???

On the plus side, the writing was nice, I can’t complain. I also liked the FMC so she’s not the reason for me dnfing the book at all. Go girl!

I was completely swept up by this story and the sweet, steady way Sam and Joey found their way to each other.

The tension of their forbidden dynamic, mixed with the cozy setting of the ranch, kept me hooked from start to finish. Watching Sam step into the lives of Joey and her young son, Max, was incredibly moving. He wasn’t just a partner to her; he became a pillar of support for them both, and those tender, protective moments were the highlights that kept me glued to the pages.

While I adored the chemistry between them, the pacing felt a little uneven at times. I wanted a bit more emotional depth during the moments they were apart, as some of their internal struggles felt a bit surface-level given the stakes involved. The slow burn was definitely present, but it occasionally felt like they were holding back right when I wanted them to fully lean into that connection. Even so, the genuine care Sam showed for his new little family was undeniable and made it easy to root for their happy ending.

Overall, this was a beautiful, feel-good read that balanced heartfelt emotion with just enough spice. I loved the found family atmosphere and how Joey eventually found the courage to claim the life and love she deserved. It left me with a warm, fuzzy feeling, and I know I will be thinking about these characters for a while.

If you enjoy a protective hero who truly shows up for the people he cares about, this is definitely one to pick up.

~~~~
Huge thank you to Emily Silver and The Smuthood for the ARC! 😍 All my bookish thoughts are completely my own. ✨
I really, REALLY wanted to like this cowboy romance because it had all the ingredients I usually fall for: a single mom trying to rebuild, her dad’s best friend who’s been in her orbit forever, and a slow burn. I was ready for longing, tension, and that moment where everything finally snaps into place.
But it didn’t feel like that at all for me. There was a disconnect between the chemistry you feel between Joey and Sam. Like why all of sudden now is he interested. Sure, she’s always thought he was attractive. But the forced proximity felt too forced and not natural. It’s like they work together so they all of a sudden they have these feelings for one another.
Joey is 25, working the front desk and raising her four‑year‑old son Max. Sam Shaw is her dad’s best friend; he’s older, widowed, steady, running the stables and done solo raising his adult daughter Lennox. Their connection should’ve been messy and magnetic. And in some ways, it was but it also lacked depth. You get these little pockets of the past but it’s only surface level.
Joey flirts, pushes, tests the boundary line over and over until Sam finally caves. She’s reaching for something, for affection, stability, someone who won’t leave when things get hard. She wants unconditional love, and you can feel that ache under everything she does. She doesn’t want to be alone.
But Sam hardly meets her there. Sam doesn’t fight for her out loud. He doesn’t claim her, doesn’t step into the tension he helped create. He cares for her and Max and those moments are genuinely sweet but it feels like caretaking, not commitment.
And Joey… she’s frustrating. Not in a layered, “she’s working through her stuff” way but more in a way that made it hard to stay on her side. Her longing is real, but her choices don’t always deepen her character.
By the end, the dynamic felt lopsided: Joey reaching, Sam retreating, and the slow burn never turning into anything solid. The ranch setting is cozy and the found family potential is right there, but the romance itself never steps into the emotional space I had hoped it would. No grovel, or grand gesture in the end.
A huge thank you to Emily Silver & Smuthood PR for the early copy!
A cute premise with soft moments, but I needed more fire, more clarity, and a MMC who actually shows up.
If you love:
• dad’s best friend
• age gap romance
• single mom
• secret relationship
• protective MMC
• found family vibes
THIS BOOK ABSOLUTELY MELTED MY HEART 😭❤️
I went into this expecting a forbidden romance, but I got so much more. This story is full of heart, healing, and a hero who completely stole the show.
The FMC has been through enough disappointing relationships to swear off love, and honestly, I couldn’t blame her. As a single mom, she’s doing everything she can to build a happy life for herself and her son, even if it means putting her own heart on the back burner.
Then there’s Sam Shaw… 😮‍💨❤️
Dad’s best friend.
Completely off-limits.
Protective.
Patient.
And somehow the sweetest man in the room.
The chemistry between Sam and the FMC was undeniable from the start, but what made me fall in love with this book was the way Sam loved not only her, but her son too.
Watching him step into their lives so naturally, making them both feel safe, supported, and cherished had my heart in pieces 🥹👨‍👦❤️
The secret relationship brought just the right amount of tension. Every stolen moment and every chance they took had me rooting for them even harder.
I also appreciated that the romance wasn’t just built on attraction. It was built on trust, friendship, and genuine care, making their relationship feel believable and incredibly swoon-worthy.
This book had the perfect balance of emotional moments, sweet family scenes, and enough chemistry to keep me completely invested until the very last page.
If you love forbidden romances, protective older heroes, single mom stories, and men who love both the woman and her child with their whole heart, Anything for You is one you won’t want to miss ❤️👨‍👦✨
ARC REVIEW
Soo this is my very first ARC review ever, and I’m not a native speaker, so please bear with me!
First of all I’d like to thank Emily Silver and Samantha Nicole / The Smuthood for this amazing opportunity!
Now, let’s get into it.
Let me pre-phase this by saying: As soon as I read “Age Gap”, combined with “Forbidden” and “Cowboy” I was invested to say the least. If that’s not up your alley this book is not for you. On the other hand, if you’re a little freak like me and love books that would definitely raise some questions with friends and family members if they were to ever find your reading history … buckle up and enjoy the ride! (;
So, for the story: I found the FMC really refreshing. Life as a single mom isn’t easy but she manages her kid, her job, friendships and her forbidden crush like a champ! She is strong-willed, lovable and literally has a village behind her - the perfect ground base. On that note, I want to honorably mention Reenie who I really came to love as a (not so unimportant to the story) side character! Also, the way the FMC stood up against her father made me rooting her even more! Her pushing and flirting, while Sam was eating it up and 100% falling for it, had me grinning for a good part of the book.
I have to admit, in one particular scene, I wanted to throttle the MMC. While he somewhat redeems himself, I felt like he definitely fell short on the “fighting for her/them” part. It mostly felt like his attraction to her was mainly physical and I guess there could have been a bit more focus on the emotional attraction for his part. But it still is a fast paced romance and all in all Sam was a MMC I really came to like.
The book doesn’t only focus on the relationship between the FMC and the MMC but also on the hardships and anxiety that comes with being a mom. I don’t have kids myself so I can only imagine, but in my opinion it was written very nicely. The way the MMC stepped in and took to the FMCs kid felt natural and made me swoon - that’s also a reason why the third act breakup made me literally cry. The heartache, the yearning - it’s a rollercoaster of emotions. It all comes to a head when there’s an accident, and the MMC swoops in like a knight in shining armor 🤭 Cue a scene that will have you on the edge of your seat and then FINALLY the HEA the MCs deserve 🫶🏼
The bonus chapter is the perfect, full on swoon-teary eyes-worthy conclusion to an amazing story (the scene between the MMC and the FMCs kid? Y’all I can’t even 😭) and will give you another nice little serotonin boost to top it all off.
Now, some of my favorite quotes plus some commentary:
“It’s probably going to bite me in the ass. But I don’t care.” Girl that’s the spirit!!
“Can horses even be judgy? Because if so, he is definitely judging me.” Sir as an equestrian I can attest to the fact that horses can absolutely be judgy, but over here in the Smuthood we listen and we don’t judge 🤞🏽
“Darlin’, I only need an hour.” I’M SCREAMING BUT THE S IS SILENT Y’ALL
“With you, that feeling never goes away” OKAY SWOOOOON
“I’ll even load the shotgun for you if I break Joey’s heart because I don’t plan on doing it.” This is so caveman/cowboy-coded but I fear I love it 😩
Get ready for:
* Shutting her up by KISSING HER
* Him having STEAMY smex dreams about her
* Her finding any excuse in the world to go see him 🤭
* A LOT of praise and dirty talk (Sam Shaw the man that you are)
* “It’ll fit”
* Him taking care of her and her kid when they’re sick
* Love confessions in a hospital room because that’s how life works
In conclusion:
The spice? It’s SPICYING
The FMC? Living the dream
The MMC? The forbidden fruit
The story? Will give you all the feels
If you’re not already reading Anything For You, what are you doin’?
I had been looking forward to Joey and Sam’s story after the glimpses we got in the previous book, and it completely lived up to my expectations. This turned out to be a five-star read for me. I couldn’t stop reading, and I was hooked on their story from the very beginning.
Joey was a single mom who had been trying to balance everything on her own, and I really felt for her. She hadn’t had much luck in love, but she still gave everything to her four-year-old son, Max, who was the sweetest kid. I loved reading about her friendship with the girls and how they were always there for her and Max, as well as her family. Sam was Joey’s dad’s best friend, and she couldn’t deny her attraction to him whenever she saw him at work. It made everything more complicated, but their connection was impossible to ignore.
I liked Sam’s backstory as a single dad who had lost his wife. It added depth to his character and made it even more meaningful to see him open up again after all those years. Even though Sam tried to hold back from his attraction to Joey because of his loyalty to his best friend, it was clear how drawn he was to her. After he found her on the side of the road, spiraling, he kissed her, and everything changed after that.
I loved Joey and Sam’s dynamic, especially the tension and the flirty moments between them. Their steamy scenes were pretty hot, too, and I liked reading how they both understood each other’s needs. It was also nice to see how Joey didn’t hesitate to be upfront with Sam about what she wanted, and how, once things started between them, their relationship slowly became more than just physical. Joey and Sam tried to find time whenever they could, and it was sweet to read Sam’s interactions with Max and how they naturally bonded.
Joey and Sam’s relationship wasn’t easy, especially with the secrecy and the fear of how Joey’s dad would react. When everything finally came to light, it was heartbreaking to see them both struggle with the possibility of losing each other. I felt for both of them during that time, especially when Sam chose to step back so Joey wouldn’t lose her family.
Despite the drama, I loved how everything came together in the end, especially Joey standing up to her dad for herself and her relationship, and being honest about her feelings. I also liked seeing Sam prove how much he loved Joey and his willingness to be there for her and Max. I was glad that Joey’s dad eventually understood, so they could be together like they deserved.
Overall, this was an emotional, angsty, and heartwarming story that kept me fully invested. I loved the mix of forbidden romance, family dynamics, and friendship. I also enjoyed reading Joey and Sam’s bonus scene and seeing more moments of them as a family, along with Sam’s daughter.
Now I’m really excited to read Georgia’s story next, especially after the epilogue from her POV.
I absolutely devoured this cowboy romance, my first from Emily Silver. Joey is such a fun heroine because she is unapologetically herself in every possible way. She flirts like it’s a sport, especially with Sam, but underneath all that confidence is a woman who just wants something real. A partner. A home. Someone who actually stays. And when that need collides with the one man she absolutely should not want, things get messy in the most addictive way.
Because Sam is her dad’s best friend. Older, steady, grounded, and very much off limits. Which of course makes every glance, every almost-touch, every stolen moment feel like it is charging the air between them. The tension between these two builds in such a delicious slow burn kind of way, where you can feel how badly they are trying to behave like this is not happening… while absolutely failing at it.
What I loved most was how naturally Sam shows up for Joey and her son, Max. That little boy completely stole the entire book every time he appeared. Sam does not just dip a toe into their lives, he fully steps in, steady and protective, without hesitation. Those soft, domestic moments between the three of them were honestly the heart of the story for me.
Joey also really shined when it came to standing her ground, especially with her dad. She knows what she wants and she is not afraid to fight for it, even when it is uncomfortable. But I did find myself wishing Sam had met her a little more in that space. A bigger declaration. A clearer claim. Something that really matched the intensity of what they were building in secret.
Because while the chemistry is absolutely there, the emotional depth sometimes felt like it was holding itself back. I kept waiting for that moment where everything fully cracks open, and instead it stayed a little restrained. Not bad, just not as deep or layered as I personally wanted it to be. I also would have loved a bit more development in certain emotional moments, since some of the conflict and connection moments felt like they skimmed the surface instead of digging in.
Still, there is something undeniably sweet about their dynamic. The secrecy, the stolen kisses, the quiet inevitability of them. And the found family mixed with ranch life makes it such an easy, cozy read to sink into. The bonus content and glimpses of the wider world were such a nice touch, and had me excited to check out the rest of the series. And honestly, the friend group is strong enough that I already feel invested in what is ahead.
By the end, I was left with that warm, satisfied feeling even if I wanted just a little more emotional weight from the romance itself. Sam and Joey absolutely work in theory and in moments, I just wanted the story to lean all the way in.
**ARC Review I received as part of the Smuthood**
Tropes: Dad’s best friend • Age Gap • Cowboy • Single Mom • Small Town • Forbidden Romance.
First the dedications is *chefs kiss* “To everyone that loves a good forbidden romance…. Enjoy Sam Shaw”
I absolutely loved Sam when we first met him in Fight for Us. He’s such a sweet, hardworking guy, so by the end of that book, when there were hints about something happening between him and Joey, I already knew I was going to be all in. And I was right — their story was hot, emotional, and so good.
Joey and Sam have instant chemistry, but Joey tries to ignore her attraction and even goes on a date with a guy from a dating app. When she gets stood up and Sam is the one who finds her, I loved how protective and reassuring he is. Joey is already feeling low, and Sam is so quick to remind her that the guy was an idiot for passing up the chance to be with her. It was such a sweet moment and one that made me love him even more.
Joey is also a single mom to Max, who is the sweetest little boy. She lives in a garage apartment at her parents’ house, which works well because it gives her some extra support with Max when she needs it. Joey and Sam both work at the Lost Spur Ranch — Joey at the front desk and Sam as the head ranch hand handling the horses and trail rides — so they’re around each other constantly, which only makes the tension between them even better.
I loved their relationship right from the start. The attraction is immediate, the chemistry is off the charts, and once things finally start happening between them… wow. The spice was absolutely there, but what really sold me was how good they were together emotionally too. I’m always a sucker for a forbidden romance, and the dad’s best friend angle worked so well here. Sam’s friendship with Joey’s dad Greg adds an extra layer of tension, especially when Greg and the other guys start asking questions about Sam’s love life.
I also really liked how the secret relationship eventually comes out and how everything is handled afterward. There’s definitely some heartbreak, but it never felt overly dramatic, and I still had that feeling the whole time that these two were meant to find their way through it.
Overall, this was such a fun, swoony, and steamy romance. Sam completely lived up to the expectations I had for him after Fight for Us, and I loved seeing Joey get a story that balanced great chemistry, emotional moments, and a genuinely sweet family dynamic with Max.
If you love small-town romance, forbidden relationships, protective heroes, and a good amount of spice, this one is definitely worth picking up.
Anything For You by Emily Silver is book to in her Pinecrest, Montana Series. If you have read book one then you will have already met best friends Joey, Presley, Rylee and Georgia. This time
we have the age-gap, father’s best fined, forbidden romance between single mum Josephine ‘Joey’ Andrews nd ranch hand / cowboy Sam Shaw.
Although these two have always known one another and work at the ranch, their story really starts at the reopening of The Lost Spur. In the first book Kade has inherited the ranch and along with Presley has worked hard to bring it back to its former glory. Joey works the front desk with Rennie and Sam looks after the horses and taking the guests out riding.
Joey dropped out of college when she fell pregnant and has raised her son Max alone since his dad wanted nothing to do with him. She just wants to find a nice guy to settle down with but growing up in a small town she knows everyone. She has watched Presley reunite with Kade and Rylee and her brother Chase are madly in love. The town’s seer tells her she is about to experience a significant change but Joey doesn’t need any more upheaval in her life.
Sam became a single dad when his wife died and has raised Lennox on his own. He found it a real struggle, looking after a moody teenager while dealing with his grief. He threw himself into work but luckily his relationship with Lennox has now improved.
Joey thinks that Sam is the sexiest cowboy she’s ever seen and is finding it harder to resist him.
She flirts with him and likes his attention but knows nothing good can come from her desire for him. Things between them get interesting when he ends up rescuing her a couple of times. Joey is the only woman who makes him flustered but with twenty years between them and her being his best friends daughter, she is totally off limits. It does help when her dad and their friends are joking around andntell him he’s too old for her.
They start having naughty thoughts about each other and push the boundaries. They open up and tell each other things they have never told anyone else before. He has tried to resist her but the temptation is too strong and they give into their feelings. They both hate lying to their family and friends about their secret relationship. Sam hates that feels so right between them when everyone else will think its wrong. He has fallen so in love with joey but is sure it will end in heartbreak for both of them.
What will happen when her dad finds out because they can’t think of a way to tell him about their relationship and neither can get past this hurdle and co e out about their love for each other. Sam contemplates how to tell his best friend he’s fallen for his daughter especially when his own daughter is not much younger. I found them being discovered very predictable an d wasn’t surprised by the third act break up. Will Sam fight for her? A traumatic incident with Max gets them admitting their love but will her dad accept them being together?
I found it difficult to connect with this couple because it felt as if she pushed him so she wouldn’t be alone now her friends had found love. I get that Sam cares about her and Max but I needed more from him. Once their secret was revealed I wanted more about them being together. However, Max was a delight and I enjoyed his bond with Sam developing.
A fun epilogue with teasers about a happily single Georgia meeting Grant while dealing with disasters at Rylee and Chase’s wedding. Then an amusing bonus scene with Sam and Joey discussing marriage and weddings.
💛 Sometimes the Best Love Story Is Worth Breaking the Rules For 💛
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌗 (3.5/5)
I absolutely adored Anything For You. What starts as a forbidden romance between a single mom and her dad's best friend quickly became so much more than an age-gap love story. It became a story about finding the person who makes life's burdens feel lighter and reminds you that you're worthy of being loved wholeheartedly.
Sam Shaw completely exceeded every expectation I had. While everyone knows him as Joey's dad's best friend, what truly defines him is the way he quietly takes care of the people he loves. Whether he's helping Joey when life throws another obstacle her way or making Max feel like the most important little boy in the world, every action shows the kind of man he truly is. His love isn't loud—it lives in the little things, and those moments completely won me over.
Joey was such an easy heroine to root for. As a single mom, she's doing everything she can to give Max a wonderful life, but beneath her strength is a woman who simply wants someone to share life's highs and lows with. Watching her slowly realize that Sam wasn't just someone she wanted, but someone she could truly build a future with, made every page worth savoring.
One of my favorite parts of this book was Sam's relationship with Max. From the very beginning, he never treated Max like an obligation. He loved him effortlessly, protected him fiercely, and embraced him as though he'd always belonged in his life. Those moments added so much heart to an already beautiful romance.
The secret relationship, stolen moments, and undeniable chemistry kept me completely invested, while the small-town setting and wonderful supporting cast made Pinecrest feel like somewhere I'd happily visit again and again.
Emily Silver perfectly balances emotional depth, humor, tenderness, and spice, creating a romance that feels genuine from beginning to end. While the forbidden relationship creates tension, it's the trust, partnership, and unwavering support between Joey and Sam that truly make this story shine.
If you love protective cowboys, single mom romances, age gaps that never feel forced, and heroes who prove their love through actions instead of words, Anything For You absolutely belongs on your TBR.
Thank you so much to Emily Silver and The Smuthood for the gifted ARC. This was another wonderful visit to Pinecrest, and I'm already looking forward to the next book in the series.
“What’s so wrong about wanting a life with the person you love?”
I'm a city girl through and through but sign me up for a hot cowboy who calls me darlin' any day of the week! Yes, sir!!
Joey is my favorite kind of FMC, one who is unapologetically herself. She's a shameless flirt, especially with Sam, but all she really wants is a partner in life, someone to love and care for her. And she finds that person in Sam, her father's best friend.
Flirting is dangerous, pushing every boundary, but Sam and Joey are so magnetically drawn to each other. I loved how Sam was there to rescue Joey when she needed it most and the way she managed to rattle him. How they were open and vulnerable with each other, in so deep that they seemed destined for heartbreak.
Stolen moments and secret kisses increased the tension and chaos, soul-deep longing that was begging for them to be together. I loved how Sam showed up for Joey and for her young son, Max, how he put both of them first without question. And, oh my goodness, that sweet little boy warmed my heart and stole every single scene he was a part of.
I loved how Joey stood up to her dad about her relationship with Sam. I only wish that Sam would have fought harder for Joey, or maybe show some kind of grand gesture, but I have no doubt how much he loved her. I also would have liked more character and plot development since this story seemed a little rushed at times, surface level instead of really exploring all the layers hidden underneath.
The bonus scene was so sweet and wholesome, bringing a smile to my face, fitting perfectly with this story and offering a glimpse at another couple from earlier in the series. Joey had an amazing and supportive girl group and that only made the story better. Plus, the epilogue has me ready for book three! I just know Georgia is going to be my spirit sister!
“I don’t need anything else. With you? I have it all.”
Add this to your TBR if you like the following tropes:
✨️Single Mom
✨️Dad's Best Friend
✨️Age Gap
✨️Forbidden
✨️Small Town Romance
✨️Cowboy
I absolutely loved the first book in the Pinecrest, Montana Series so my exceptions for Book 2 were high. The book didn’t exceed my expectations but they were met, I’ll say that much. I liked Anything For You, is it my favorite book I've ever read, no, but is it a book I would recommend to people absolutely, I hope that made sense
Full Disclosure: I'm not the biggest fan of Dad's Best Friend Age Gap Romances but this particular one I enjoyed reading so tip of the cap to you Emily!
This is a beautifully written, small-town romance, which I'll read those any and every day of the week, just saying. Joey, who is the FMC is a fiery, strong single mom to Max. She's in her mid-twenties, works on the ranch, and has a wonderful support system
Sam Shaw is a very protective, caring, patient, and sweet man, who had me smiling a lot during this story. He tries to resist his best friend's daughter but when he finally gives in, you knew that was it because their connection is something that cannot be ignored
Joey is such a good mom and Sam fits right into their dynamic so well. He's good to and for Joey and how he steps up to be a father figure for Max melted my heart. It's a fun and interesting family dynamic especially when you throw Joey's dad in the mix
Sam is Joey's dad best friend and we all know he wouldn't approve of their relationship, which is why it starts out as a secret that's filled with stolen moments and sizzling encounters. Once Greg (Joey's dad) finds out the truth he loses his mind but understandably so, and things escalate to the point where Sam and Joey "break up".
Max ends up in the hospital, Joey's freaking out for more than one reason, Sam gives her a ride to the hospital, he stays with her even though he dad doesn't want him there, can't say I don't blame him. Everyone finally speaks how they feel and her dad gets on board with Sam dating his daughter. Greg did say it would take some getting used to it but that's to be excepted.
The ups and downs, twists and turns, this story ends with Sam, Joey, and Max along with their family and friends getting to be happy together and enjoy their lives!
If you love dad's best friend, age gap, small-town, single mom, close family, just to name few tropes from this book then you need to go read this ASAP!
Thank you to Samantha at Smuthood and the author, Emily Silver for the ARC!
Joey and Sam have known each other for years but lately denying an attraction has been harder to hide. One day Sam looked at Joey and couldn't deny what a beautiful woman she was. Working together at the ranch made it harder to avoid each other. As her father’s best friend, he was knew Joey was off limits in more ways than one. He could look but he swore he would never cross the line especially since she wasn't that much older than his daughter. She might be a single mother and he a widower but she was his best friend's daughter!
Joey was raising her son with the help of her sibling and parents. Her best friends helped too ensuring she had a babysitter when needed so she could work at the ranch. The job she loved even though it put her in the path of the man she secretly yearned for even though he was older and definitely off limits. She loved watching him work with tge horses and seeing him interacting with their guests. He always treated her with respect and acted like a gentleman, proving to her that she was worth more than the bare minimum that most guys she dated did.
On one no show date, Sam appeared at the same dinner and saved the day. That night changed something fir both of them even though their interaction was innocent. Soon they decided that the pull was just too strong and they started sneaking around on the ranch and dates outside of town. Making people believe that they were both dating but never letting their friends or family know just who they were dating. Being careful to never be affectionate or over friendly in public. Until one day, her father made an unexpected trip to visit Sam and he found out the truth.
When the truth comes out, Joey and Sam need to decide if what they have is strong enough to weather the storm or if external forces will shatter their hearts. They know that they are happier together and that no one has made them feel like this before. Is risking friendships worth more than love? Can a person walk away from their soulmate because of what other people want? Would a daughter pick love over her father's blessing? Well if I was Joey, I would say that Sam is worth it and even though their relationship is new they are both better together. They are there for the other whenever they need and they could form a family with their children even if it looks a little different from an outsider's perspective.
I loved Sam and Joey because they tried to fight their attraction, fearing that it was wrong. I loved tgat they decided to follow the sparks because they definitely burn bright. No one should ever have to choose between family and who you love but public perception and prejudices often taint relationships. The only people whose opinions really matter are those in the relationship. Yes, children in those relationships also are a factor but as long as the child is loved by both a family is a family no matter if it appears different.
Thank you Emily Silver and The Smuthood for the ARC and the opportunity to review this wonderful book! I do recommend reading book one first to better understand the characters and the intricacies of the ranch.
I'll be honest, age gap romances, especially ones with a 20-year difference, can be really hit or miss for me. They either feel completely natural or they leave me questioning everything. Thankfully, Emily Silver absolutely nailed it.
Anything for You was so much more than an age gap romance. It was a story about finding love when you've almost convinced yourself it isn't meant for you, learning to trust again, and discovering that sometimes the right person has been standing in front of you all along.
Sam Shaw completely stole my heart. He wasn't just protective of the woman he loved. He showed up for her in every way that mattered. Watching him care for both her and her son without hesitation was everything. There is just something about a man who loves a child as if they're his own that gets me every single time, and Sam delivered that in the sweetest way possible.
I also loved that the age gap never became the entire story. Yes, it created complications, but it never defined their relationship. Instead, the focus stayed on the connection between them, the trust they built, and the way they made each other's lives better. Their chemistry was undeniable from the beginning, but it was the emotional connection that completely sold me.
The forbidden aspect of dating her dad's best friend added just the right amount of tension without feeling overdramatic. Every stolen moment had me smiling, and I couldn't help rooting for them to figure out a way to make it work.
Emily Silver has such a talent for writing emotionally mature characters who communicate, support one another, and genuinely feel like partners. Sam wasn't perfect, but he loved fiercely, protected without being controlling, and proved through his actions exactly why he was worth taking a chance on.
If you're hesitant about age gap romances, don't let the 20-year difference scare you away. This is one of those books that reminds you tropes are only as good as the execution, and Emily Silver executed this one beautifully.
After reading Fight For Us, I was really excited to return to Pinecrest for this one, especially when I saw the tropes. Dad’s best friend? Age gap? Single mom? Cowboy romance? Say less 😭
Anything For You follows Joey, a single mom trying to build a life for herself and her son, Max, and Sam, her father’s best friend and the last man she should be falling for.
One thing I really appreciated about this book was Sam. More specifically, the way he showed up for Max. Some of my favorite moments were watching their relationship develop because it felt genuine and sweet without being overdone.
I also enjoyed the small town atmosphere and getting to be back in this world again.
That said, I never fully connected with this story the way I hoped I would. For me, the biggest issue was that I never became emotionally attached to the characters enough to really feel invested in their romance. I liked them, but I never quite fell in love with them.
I also expected the forbidden aspect to play a much bigger role. With the dad’s best friend trope, I was expecting a lot more tension and conflict, but because Joey’s dad isn’t heavily involved for most of the story, it never felt as forbidden as I thought it would.
The romance itself also develops pretty quickly, and I found myself wanting more build up before everything took off. I think I needed more yearning, more anticipation, and more time to really feel the connection between Joey and Sam.
Overall, this was a well written story that just wasn’t the perfect fit for me personally. While I didn’t connect with it as deeply as I’d hoped, I can absolutely see readers who love quick, steamy small-town romances enjoying this one.
Oh how I love an age gap romance that’s filled with all the emotions. “Anything for You” is a steamy, heartfelt and romantic Dad’s best friend, age gap romance that was a fantastic addition to the “Pinecrest, Montana” series.
Joey is a single mom to an adorable little boy named Max. Between juggling motherhood and working, at times she wishes for a partner. But that’s just not in the cards for her right now. Sam is an older cowboy working on the same ranch Joey works at and he has started noticing her more. But starting anything is out of the question to him because he’s older than Joey. But after a disastrous ghosting, Sam is there to keep Joey company. And as the days go by, there are lingering looks between them and then the chemistry explodes between them.
Oh my god, I loved Joey and Sam’s story so much. I’m a sucker for an age gap and throw in Dad’s best friend, I’m gonna pick up that book so fast. Joey is an amazing mother and was always making sure Max was happy and taken care of. Sam is one swoony cowboy and I wouldn’t have been able to resist him like Joey. He had an older daughter who was grown and trying to make it on her own. Sam might have seen Joey first as something more but she was definitely on board once she realized she had the same feelings. Their meetup started up as lust filled first but as they spent time together, they truly connected on a deeper level. Sam was always putting Joey first so she knew how much he treasured her. He was also the perfect male figure for Max (who has an amazing uncle and grandpa by his side too). I loved how their relationship developed and keeping it a secret allowed them to go at their own pace. The ending was so sweet and I can’t wait for more from Emily Silver.
🤠🎀💫 This. This is all I've ever wanted.
Someone to dance with. Someone to care about me. Someone to treat me like... well, like I'm their world and they love me. 💫🎀🤠
I absolutely love cowboy romances, and this book gave me everything I was looking for! 🤠🐎❤️ Handsome cowboys, a beautiful ranch, cowboy boots and hats, horses, line dancing… it has all the perfect country vibes! 🐎🌾🤠
I really loved the FMC 💖 Joey’s a strong, confident, and beautiful single mom doing everything she can to give her son a great life 🥹🥰 She knows exactly what she wants, stands up for herself, and never lets anyone tell her how to live her life. I admired her independence so much 💕
And can we talk about her son, Max? 🍪 ✈️ He was such a sweet, smart, and well-behaved little boy. He completely stole my heart! 🫶🏻
The MMC was everything I want in a cowboy lead character 🤠🔥 Sam’s older, incredibly handsome, caring, and amazing with both horses and people 😍 They work together – he’s the ranch foreman, while she works at the front desk, taking care of the guests 🏡🐎✨
My favorite part of this book was the chemistry between them ❤️ The attraction, the longing, and the slow-building tension were so good! ❤️‍🔥🥵 But what made me love them even more was how safe they felt with each other 🧡 They understood one another without saying a word, always supported each other, kept no secrets, and could talk openly about everything from the very beginning 🥹🥰
If you love:
🤠 cowboy romance
💕 age gap
...I definitely recommend giving this one a try! 📚 💖
Anything For You was exactly the kind of small-town cowboy romance I was hoping for. 🤎 Emily Silver has a way of creating stories that pull you in from the very first page, and before you know it, you’re completely invested and not ready to say goodbye.
This book had the perfect balance of sweet, emotional, swoony, and spicy. It gave me all the cozy summer ranch vibes while still keeping enough drama and tension to keep me turning pages.
Sam was everything you want from a cowboy hero. A true southern gentleman with the rancher energy, the cowboy boots, and the kind heart to match. 🤠 Watching him fall for Joey and seeing the softer side of him come out was one of my favorite parts of the story.
And Joey? I loved her. As a single mom, she was doing everything she could to keep life together, and I loved watching her realize she deserved someone who would choose her and support her. Her connection with Sam felt so natural, especially because he didn’t just fall for her—he embraced every part of her life, including Max. 🥹
The chemistry between them was everything. The attraction was undeniable, but it was the little moments—the support, the teasing, the way they showed up for each other—that made me root for them.
The small-town setting added so much charm, and the characters made this feel like a place I wanted to visit. This was such an easy, comforting read that I completely devoured.
This was my first time reading this author, and I was completely blown away! I absolutely devoured this book in less than five hours. It is book two in a series but functions perfectly as a standalone, so you will not feel lost if you skip book one.
The story is a beautifully written, small-town romance that hits all the best tropes. Joey (FMC) is a strong, fierce single mom to 4 yr old Max. She's in her mid-twenties, works on the ranch, and has a strong support system with her family and friends. Sam (MMC) is a charming farrier at the ranch, a widower, and her dad’s best friend. Because of that, their love story starts as a secret relationship filled with stolen moments and sizzling encounters before growing into something much deeper.
The suspense of wondering how the truth would come out kept me turning pages!
What to expect:
🤫 Dad’s best friend / Age-gap romance
❤️ Strong, fierce single mom FMC
🔨 Charming farrier MMC (and he's a widower!)
👦 A hilarious, protective son who steals the show
🌾 Small-town ranch vibes & tight-knit family
🔥 Plenty of perfectly timed, sizzling spice
What truly stole the show for me was the incredible character depth. Max, is a total scene-stealer at times with his protective nature and witty banter. Watching Sam effortlessly and naturally step into their world was incredibly heartwarming.
The author perfectly balances cowboy charm, small-town family bonds, deep emotion, and plenty of sizzling spice at just the right times. It is a beautiful, high-stakes romance that I highly recommend!
This is the second book in the Pinecrest Montana series, featuring single mom Joey and her dad’s best friend, Sam, a ranch farrier. Joey, a devoted mother, believes she’s unworthy of love due to her package-deal life; her feelings for Sam grow despite their obstacles. When Sam rescues Joey during a roadside breakdown and kisses her, their connection deepens into a forbidden romance. They form a loving family with Joey’s son Max, amidst small-town charm.
This heartfelt age-gap Dad’s-best-friend romance is fueled by undeniable chemistry, Joey’s devotion, and Sam’s inner conflict about their relationship. Emily’s portrayal of small-town life and character growth made this a swoon-worthy read. Fans of emotional, forbidden love stories will enjoy Joey and Sam’s journey.
Thoughts
This story is a warm, heartfelt look at love and all the ups and downs that come with it. It has certainly made me want to read more from Emily Silver. The story of Sam and Joey was wonderful; Joey truly cares about her son, and their relationship with Sam feels real and touching. Sam’s way of being a caring dad to Max made me feel happy inside. Joey really deserves to be happy, and her special connection with her dad’s best friend feels just right. I can’t wait for book three!!!
3 stars.
Emily Silver's "Anything For You" was just okay for me. I honestly didn't feel a strong connection to any of the characters, despite this book having all of my favorite tropes (cowboy romance, age gap, dad's best friend). I didn't feel a ton of chemistry between them, which made for a bit of a bleh reading experience. It all felt very stiffly written and robotic. It could have been so full of yearning and pining, but as it stands, it just felt... there, and things move *very* quickly to start. Luckily, this book is a quick read, and there are some good points to it. I love a good forbidden romance, and even without the chemistry between Sam and Joey, the sneaking around behind her dad's back was written well. Joey has only ever dated men who were not worth her time and/or treated her badly, so when Sam finally starts showing her the attention she wants, she's ready to have something all for herself. The relationship between Sam and Joey felt pretty lusty to me, definitely not happily ever after territory in the slightest. It felt purely physical, so maybe that's why it didn't read as pining/yearning/wanting to me? Just lusty and carnal, which is all good, don't get me wrong... but again, I didn't feel too much for these characters. I don't have a whole lot to say about this one, and I don't want to sound like a jerk, but it didn't really stick with me a whole lot. It's not a *bad* book by any stretch, it just didn't do much for me. I am sure it will have its fans, though!
Thank you to Emily Silver and The Smuthood for the complimentary ARC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this review.
This book definitely delivered the small town, swoony, cowboy romance I was expecting from Emily. She can sure write a book that grabs you from the first page and before you know it, you’re at the end, and sad it’s all over. I found myself wanting to slow down to savor every page, but reading faster because it absolutely sucked me in.
What I love most about this book was the perfect balance of drama to keep you hooked, but filled with swoony moments that had my heart melting, and spicy ones that had me fanning myself. Nothing ever felt too heavy, but more just a soft sweetness sprinkled throughout. You could say it’s like a light breeze during summertime.
Sam definitely gave off the hot, rancher, Wrangler and cowboy boots wearing, older guy vibes. He is your typical southern gentleman, always there to lend a hand and help out. He was incredibly sweet and I loved seeing him melt for Joey. She’s a single mom, living the chaotic life, and truly having no reason to lust after her dad’s best friend. But the heart wants what it wants. And these two had that connection and attraction that they couldn’t deny and stay away from. And it’s an added bonus when Sam is so good with Joey’s son, Max. These two had such genuine and sweet chemistry that made me fall in love with them more.
Truly, this book was so easy to read. One you will devour in one sitting. The connection of the characters, mixed with that small town feel, will have you smiling throughout and leave you feeling complete. This book is part of a series, but it’s a true stand alone!
This was an ARC read for me, and these are my honest opinions.
I absolutely adored Anything For You! Emily Silver completely stole my heart with this one and I devoured it in one sitting. I was so invested in Sam and Joey that I didn’t want it to end.
Sam Shaw is officially on my book boyfriend list because this man was EVERYTHING. Protective, caring, patient, and so unbelievably sweet. The way he loved not only her but Joey too just melted me into a puddle. Every scene with him and Joey had me grinning like an idiot. You could feel how treasured they both were, and it made my heart so happy.
I am such a sucker for an age gap and dad’s best friend romance, and this book delivered all the angst, secrecy, and swoony moments I could ask for. The chemistry between Sam and Joey’s mom was incredible, and once they finally gave in to their feelings, I was completely obsessed.
But honestly, it was Sam with Joey that made this book unforgettable for me. Their bond was so precious and heartfelt. Those moments were some of my favorites in the whole book and had me feeling all warm and emotional.
This book had romance, steam, sweetness, and all the feels. I laughed, swooned, and fell completely in love with these characters. I couldn’t put it down and I already know I’ll be thinking about Sam for a long time.
Emily Silver absolutely nailed this one. If you love single mom romances, dad’s best friend, age gaps, and heroes who worship the people they love, then you need this book in your life. I loved Sam and Joey so much and honestly never wanted their story to end!
"Joey is a ball of sunshine. Nothing but pure joy. I will do whatever it takes to hold on to this feeling with her.
When Joey and Sam were hinted at in book one I couldn't wait for their story and Ms. Silver did not disappoint. She shows the attraction they have for each other yet at the same time the anguish Sam tends to feel knowing it is wrong to want his best friend's daughter yet he cannot stay away from her. Everything just clicks into place when she is around and he gets the feeling of rightness that he hasn't felt since his wife passed many years prior.
Joey is a single mom focused on raising her son but feels those lonely nights and not having a partner to lean on. She just wants to find a man who will take a relationship with her seriously. She finds herself more and more attracted to Sam as the days past. Being her co-worker he is always popping up. She is not afraid to go after what she wants and what she finds from him is that he is the man for her and her son, Max!
These two together.....perfection! Sam is a caretaker in his heart and has zero problems stepping in and taking care of Joey and Max. It makes him happy. He is deserving of a second chance at love after being widowed so long ago. Sure there is an age gap between them but when reading that age gap isn't felt. I feel the author focused more on how they fit together and age is just a moot point. I love how Ms. Silver kept the drama to a minimum when the relationship between Joey and Sam was discovered. She definitely spends more time focusing on them and what they build together as the story progresses!!!
I have loved both books in this series and cannot wait to see Miss Georgia get her HEA next!!
Joey Andrews is a single mom currently living in Pinecrest, Montana. She works at the front desk for the Lost Spur Ranch, that is just now back up and running. Her family and friends help her a lot with her son Max, but she’s been thinking about how lately she’d love to have a partner she can count on too, but living in a small town means there’s little to no dating pool.
Joey does have a crush on someone completely forbidden to her though, her dad’s best friend, and one of the ranch hands at her job, Sam Shaw. Sam fills out a pair of Levi’s like the best of them, calls her darlin’, but he’s 20 years her senior. His wife passed away years ago, so he raised his then teenage daughter alone.
When Sam finds Joey at a restaurant in town alone, he finds out Joey has been stood up, and sits and eats with her since her date never came. Things for Joey aren’t easy lately, so Sam decides he’s going to help out where he can, but one thing leads to another and they start a secret relationship. Sam shows up for not only Joey but Max too, and they start to realize that maybe they don’t want to keep each other a secret anymore.
Emily Silver does it again. Sam Shaw might be my favorite MMC that Emily has written. I loved that he wanted to take care of not only Joey but Max too. He could tell Joey was really only running on fumes sometimes, and he just stepped in right when they needed him most.
I cannot wait to see what is next for Pinecrest! Thank you to The Smuthood and Emily Silver for the ARC opportunity!
Anything for you
Joey and Sam! He’s a cowboy and her dad’s best friend, she’s a single mom and they work on the same ranch . Every time they are around each other they seem to not be able to take their eyes off one another, their attraction is electric. Although Sam is her dad‘s best friend, even though they are some odd years apart, there is a magnetic pull between them that seems to keep both of them in each other’s orbit.
Joey has had bad luck with relationships in her past that never panned out for her.
Sam being older was a widower and never felt the same for anyone until Joey walked into his life.
Anything for you was the perfect age gap book that will make you cheer for them even though you know what’s gonna happen eventually when the secret comes out, but you can’t but Enjoy every moment up until then and yes for all you gals wondering it’s spicy an the mouth on that cowboy oh wow. It was short, sweet, A real good pick me up book when you’re in a reading slump I would definitely say to put this on your TBR. It would make for a great summer read.
I read this as a standalone. I believe that there are a few books before this one, but I had no trouble following along. But I will admit I want to read the whole series now and I will be starting it this summer! How exciting.
I read this book in one evening. I had just planned to start it and before I knew it I only had a few more chapters left. This is book 2 in the Pinecrest Montana series and if you did not read book 1 then you will be able to follow this story just not as much of the side characters but that is just little sections.
Joey a single Mom who is raising Max with no help of his father. She has the help of her parents and her friends but finds that she is just tired of always being lonely. She is on the dating apps and trying to get out there but one disaster date after another she is tired of it. The last straw is when she is stood up and her Dad's Best friend who she has had a massive crush on takes pity on her and has supper with her.
Sam started noticing Joey a few years ago but put her in the no a possibility category because he is best friends with her Dad. When the two spend more time together at work and run in around their small town and a panic spiral changes everything.
This book was so easy to read and not too long. I liked both of the Main characters and you were really rooting for them as they both blossomed when they were together. I wish that Sam and his friends had a better line of communication I felt like he couldn't go to them and they misunderstood him even before he had to keep things from them.
I am looking forward to Book 3 based on the last few chapters of this book it looks like it will be another great book
