I came across this author from Instagram of all places and was very intrigued by the cover. After reading the book summary, I was interested enough to order it. I had very low expectations considering I have never heard of this author before. I started the book in the airport waiting for my cross-country flight and wow, was I surprised! I booked a red-eye hoping to sleep, but the drama of Maple Falls kept me awake the entire duration of the flight! I don't want to ruin with spoilers so I will keep it simple. This book was an easy read, but soooooo entertaining. Funny in all the right places and dramatic when it needs to be. Great character development, dark and twisted. The ending caught me off guard in the best way. Loved the poem at the end and the subtle nod at the title. Mira Francis, I have no idea who you are, but if you read this review, please write book #2 because I need to know more about Maple Falls!
I loved the thrill of this book! Not gonna lie it gave me the anxiety feels but in a good way…. With the anticipation of finding out the answers. There was a little “nugget” that gave me suspicion to the ending but I still never knew for sure. If Mira Frances plans to give us more about Maple 🍁 Falls…. I’m here for it!
The Trouble With Maple Falls was a surprisingly strong read for me, especially considering I’m usually a little harder to impress when it comes to mystery and suspense. The beginning is a little slower, but once the story gets going, I never felt like there were unnecessary moments. The ending also left me wanting more without feeling like a true cliffhanger. The story feels complete in a way, but there’s definitely room for what’s next.
A very promising read, and an author I’d definitely be curious to read more from.
