Shifting Crossroads #28

Waking Her Tiger

Rate this book
Maddy is a random. She is a tiger born to a community of prairie dogs who can only encourage her, love her and ask her to stand guard when they hit the burrow. She works with family, lives with family, and when she is asked if she would consider joining the Crossroads to mate with a fey, she asks family for advice.

Suran has been in exile, content to live out his days at the side of the fey king. When he is ordered to consider a shifter as a mate, he hesitates, but an order from the king and the promise of a mate by the seers convinces him that he should stiffen his resolve.

Maddy decides that she is willing to take a chance and that decision almost costs her her life, sanity and body, all before she arrives.

Zenina Masters was born in Canada and lives in Canada. She has a regular job and does nothing particularly exciting with her life. She enjoys fishing, silence and the ability to pick and choose friends she can trust. Life is too short to watch your back all the time.

Her writing life is a teeny bit of escapism, she would probably chicken out if confronted by three naked men and looks forward to one day finding out.

Randoms live the hardest lives in this paranormal world. Randoms are shifters who are not the same as the rest of their family. Maddy is a tiger amongst prairie dogs. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot! A large predator living with cute furry little prey. Isn't this like having the fox guard the hen house? For Maddy, the isolation is more apparent because prairie dogs are such a community oriented society. Maddy is left out of most celebrations because she physically can't fit into the celebratory spaces. Maddy is just going through the motions of life expecting nothing better. At this point, I'm thinking death is the only answer for Maddy. She has no motivation and she doesn't care. There is no excitement; there is nothing for her to live for. This all changes when she's pushed to the Crossroads to find her mate… a djinn.

Once again, Ms. Masters pairs up two lonely outsiders so they can have their happily ever after. Of course, this wouldn't be so easy. There must be some conflicts and strange events which leave more questions unanswered. Are we ever going to learn all the secrets in this world? Or will Ms. Masters keep stringing a reader along? Or maybe, just maybe, Ms. Masters is creating these things on the fly and somehow making it all seem pre-planned. Whatever the reason, I don't care as I'm hooked and strung out on this inked "crack" series. I still can't get enough of it. Each time I see a new book in this series, I snarf it down in one sitting. Recommended for paranormal romance addicts.

I am addicted to this series!!

There are new things to discover with each new book. I enjoyed this pairing because Maddy was quite an interesting character! This takes us a step closer to the next level of pairings for the fey and shifters. Learning more about the Djinn was fabulous and made me crave a story for Teebie!!!

The smexy scenes are nice and have enough hawt detail to satisfy. I could have used more than one, but I am greedy!!

At the end in her comments the author mentioned this book was switched in the order, that would be why at least one thing that occurred seemed off. I need to snag the next book ASAP

This one was fun. The heroine doesn't fit with her family in the worst way. But they love her and include her as much as possible, always aware that she has to fight her instincts to hurt them. The hero is very strong and controlled, and appreciates a strong, no-nonsense woman. There is a little scene that puts her out of commission in the middle, and I wasn't sure where that came from. Maybe it's a set-up for a future book?

love, love, love the imagination required for this series. Seeing these two find each other was great, and I loved how they gained traits of the other when they were mated (Maddy turned blue with stripes and gained some of Suran’s magic while Suran gained stripes and an alternate form, I believe).

The only thing that I wish differently about this series would be that the books be longer in length and a bit more build up. Otherwise, I love this serious and look forward to the next one.

I liked this one. Somehow the randoms always get me invested the most. Could have done without the sex scene where she was wearing a shit-ton of gold jewelry. Kept thinking how uncomfortable that would be. It was distracting.
