His family always wanted the other woman. Now she's pouring the wine at Nora's own table.
For six years Nora kept the Whitakers the dinners, the donors, her billionaire husband's ailing father and all his pills. All while Adrian learned to call her worries dramatic. So when his mother's hand-picked golden girl moves home, takes a key to the house, and slides into Nora's chair, he doesn't see the trap closing.
Then the other woman stages a scene in front of every donor they have, and Adrian makes his choice. He picks wrong.
Nora doesn't scream. She doesn't beg. She just stops, and drives north, leaving a hole no amount of money can fill.
Now he's standing at the bottom of someone else's porch steps, learning the cost of everything he slept through.
- This is a standalone later in life billionaire marriage-in-crisis romance with a groveling husband, scheming other woman, ice-cold in-laws, and a wronged wife who walks away entirely on her own terms. NO cheating.
But not bad. The husband was a total ass at first saying she was just jealous of his previous girlfriend but this woman was pure evil. And of course again, the evil MIL. the OW threw herself at a glass case , cut herself on purpose and said the heroine pushed her. The Mother in law was in on it. The hero did not believe the her pine so she, walked out of the venue and went to her brothers to stay. The hero didn't call her for three days because he was a douche canoe. But then the evil ow came on to him and said you know you want me, and a light bulb went off in his head finally. He then went and got a recording for the room and saw the staged event. He showed it to his family and drove to win his wife back. It was short and sweet and another same plot story. Which I am hopeless addicted to. As long as there is no cheating. I unfortunately will continue to read them. I'm such a moron.
Yet another example of a MIL who thinks she’s better than anyone else due to money.
Money is very nice and certainly helpful. I worked all my life so I could have a healthy retirement. But that doesn’t mean I’m better than anyone else. This MIL is so snobby! And naturally she wanted her son, the ML, to marry her choice instead of who he actually loves. Golden girl choice returns from a divorce and now wants his wallet. MIL doesn’t see it that way…
Dramarama ensues, with actual physical harm. This type of scheming female is fun to read about, but a 🐍 like this in real life is horrifying to deal with.
KU and this is a bit better than average but not enough to round up to 4️⃣ stars.
This book was short. About an hour long. There really wasn’t enough time to dig any deeper.
I’m not a silent type of person so it was hard for me to sympathize with the FMC. Some OW tries to sit at my chair beside my husband- I’m gonna tell her to get her butt up and move. 🤷♀️
This quote in the book annoyed me.
“Here is how a woman worms into a marriage. Not all at once. Not with a grand seduction in a red dress. That's the version in the movies, and the version in the movies is a comfort, because it lets you believe you'd see it coming. The real way is errands”
That’s not really true. OW are able to worm their way into a marriage because they see an opening. The “openings” always vary but essentially it all comes down to the husband. He doesn’t establish boundaries or he lets the OW walk all over the boundaries. Errands in this book isn’t what caused the MCs issues.😂
Ruined by Her Billionaire Husband, part of The Unseen Wives series, was about 44-year-old Nora Brennan Whitaker, a former caterer, and 40-50-ish-year-old Adrian Whitaker
Nora and Adrian had been together for eight years, married for six of them, but things hadn't been good for a long time. Adrian had learned to call her worries "dramatic" and never took her concerns seriously. When her mother brought back Vivian Wentworth, a woman he had been engaged to before meeting Nora, it was the beginning of the end. During an event that had gone wrong, he took the other woman's side instead of his wife's. Adrian demanded that Nora apologize to Vivian in front of everyone; she told him no, and that she was done. That was the last straw for Nora, so she packed up and left. It took Adrian 8 days to realize he had wronged his wife. It took longer for him to go to her, because he also realized,"...you don't get to call the person you wronged the second you figure out that you'd wronged them, just to make yourself feel better".
It was an okay story. It had the angst, the drama, the emotional rollercoaster, and the other woman drama. What it didn't have was a true reason for the story. By that I mean, none of it felt reasonable. None of the book felt like a good enough reason to put pen to paper and write about it. Okay, so the author felt the need to write something. However, this was either poorly done...or there was just nothing else to add to make it make sense. There wasn't a lot of consistency either. When the history of the MMC with the other woman was brought up, the ages didn't fit. He said he had "spent 40 years thinking I had escaped...". So, was he 40...or older than 40? That was never made clear. But then again, when mentioning his history with Vivian, he had known her since he was at least 19; then there was the mention of "20 years". Was the FMC older than the MMC? Was he older? Was Vivian the woman he had been engaged to when he met the FMC, or was it someone else? As I said, it was confusing. The book was told by the two main characters in a way that had them talking in the past tense, as if everything had already happened and they were just recanting history.
While I can say that the FMC was mature and sort of well-developed, I can't say the same about the MMC. I just didn't care for him. She would have been better off leaving him behind....but that's just my opinion.
Here's the thing about this story. The MMC admitted that he had known all along that his family treated his wife like sh*t, and that he took their side to keep the peace and let Nora pay the debt she didn't owe. He allowed another woman to mistreat his wife, and he called her "being dramatic". I gave it a two-star rating. I can't say anything more about it.
Met when she was catering his arranged engagement party. He broke it off and pursed her 3 weeks later.
Six years married. His mother treats her cruelly like an unimportant gold digger.
Family dinner. His mom pulls Adrian aside telling him Vivienne is divorced and back in town. It’s obvious she will be pushed into his path. Adrian is vague in his responses.
She mentions Vivienne on the way home. He tells her she’s a family friend and she will meet her soon. He also says she’s had a rough year and to be nice to her.
Vivian shows up at his office. Asks him for the gala donor list and a key to the office. He gives it right away. Nora has been asking for 2 months. Vivian inserts herself into weekly family dinners. Hand on his arm too long, calling him by her nickname for him. Nora even comes home to her in their house cooking dinner with a key he gave her.
Adrian sees his family be cruel but chooses peace over his wife. He doesn’t listen to Nora’s concerns. A 10 people dinner at home and Vivian pours the wine and takes Nora’s seat. Adrian allows it because Vivian doesn’t ask hard things of him like Nora does.
At the gala Nora goes to the library to be alone. Vivian follows her telling her she’s losing Adrian because she doesn’t fit in his world. Vivian will be waiting to take him. Nora tells her she only wants him because she’s broke after her divorce. Vivian smiles wider, screams and cuts herself on glass. Everyone runs in, she blames Nora. Adrian accuses her of jealousy and says she has to apologize. Nora leaves for her brother’s house.
He has to come to terms with how he treated her and why.

This was a quick read of Marital betrayal (no cheating) and grovel by the husband Adrian.
Adrian married Nora, a woman that his mother didn’t approve. Nora handled the huge mental load of the family with no complaints. Cue the other woman that’s come off of a divorce and has set her sights on Adrian…
Good angst and grovel. Characters grow and change for the better!
Too short. Only 55 pages. To me, the husband and wife seem too old for how they acted. Heroine is 44 when she finally had enough. The husbands grovel was that he knew for years she was treated bad by his family, but it was easier for him ignore their treatment of her instead of setting some boundaries because she took it.

Adrian invited an old girl friend back into his life. He ignored his wife’s concerns. His mother is aiding the enemy. When Nora leaves, he realizes his mistake too late.
Bit of a formula romance if you’ve read the other books in the series. Not bad, just not new or original.
You can't not watch! The bad person in this story did something so horrible that I did not see that coming. This story held my interest all the way through. But. In my opinion, the husband didn't grovel enough. I felt the ending was rushed. Still a good story.
If there is a Vivian in a story you know it’s going to piss you off right away. This one does not disappoint. Stupid husband crazy OW and a crappy mother in law. This story is boring there are a million others exactly like it. There is absolutely no makeup spice. At least this one is short.
I wished Adrian had grovelled a lot more though i understand that tge story going so short that would have been a bit difficult to accomplish. However, the story had a good plot, with angst enough that kept me reading until the very end. Recommended
Word vomit. Inconsistencies drove me mad. It was really bad. I mean I understand Riley you use AI but for the love of god why don’t you read it yourself for once before publishing it? Proofreading, you know?
Once again, this author, impressively in only 55 pages gives the beginning, middle and end of a story in an Incredibly satisfying and beautifully written way!! I can’t wait to pick up the next one!!
I really enjoyed these short stories about a billionaire finally learning what his wife is worth. It was a fun read, and I enjoyed the characters. I always love to see the other woman in these books get what’s coming to them.
This is the outline of all the elements in the other books. It's too short to have any real depth. There are some good insights, but no real dialogue or interaction between any of the characters.
This is told in a diary type style. Like writing down what happened after it’s happened And it becomes a lot of summary. It’s also 100% the same book as all the others like it.
