Rate this book
True Witchcraft takes a look at all aspects of the practice of witchcraft through the ages, from its very beginnings as a pagan religion to its modern day form known as Wicca. The subjects covered include Matthew Hopkins (the notorious Witchfinder General), the Pendle Witches, symbols and tools of witchcraft, Aleister Crowley, the Salem Witch Trials and many more. As well as covering the history of witchcraft, the book also sets out to clear up any unfavourable misconceptions people may have about witchcraft in general. My name is Alan Toner and I am a writer of ghost and horror stories, both fact and fiction. I have published volumes 1-4 of my True Ghost Stories books on Amazon, in addition to a string of other paranormal titles. I have also published two volumes of my short story collection, HORROR STORIES, and a werewolf novella called WEREWOLF NIGHTMARE.

Being a huge fan of the Hammer horror films, I have written two books on the studio: HAMMER HORROR REMEMBERED and HAMMER HORROR TRIVIA. I am currently writing a third Hammer book to complete the Hammer trilogy, which will be a quiz book on the studio's movies.

In addition to my books, I have also published many articles on the Ezinearticles.com site, where I have attained Expert Author status, and have had some of my short stories published in various magazines and books.

As a proud Pagan, I was delighted to finally get a chance to read this book, only to end up feeling like a middle grade history teacher reading a C or D grade paper from one of my students who had made notes after a quick glance at Wiki. This book uses capitals sparingly when referring to Wicca, Wiccans, Paganism and says the Old Religions gave been around for centuries, while in the next breath, says it has been in existence for over 40,000 years ...and then, since the existence of mankind. I found the book to be deeply disappointing, showing that very little actual research (if any) was done prior to publication and showing very little respect for followers of the Old Religions.
