Sarah Mayberry

Sarah Mayberry was born in Melbourne, Australia, and is the middle of three children. From the time that she first “stole” paper from kindergarten and stapled it together to make “books,” Sarah has always wanted to be a writer. In line with this ambition, on graduation from high school she completed a bachelor of arts degree majoring in professional writing, then sat down to write a book. When inspiration didn’t strike, she began to wonder if, perhaps, she needed to live some life first before writing about it.

This still left the burning question of how to pay the rent. She found her way into trade journalism, working off the principle that it was better to write anything for a living than nothing at all. Her time there lead to the opportunity to launch a new decorator magazine for one of Australia’s major retailers, an invaluable and grueling experience that she found very rewarding.

But the opportunity to write fiction for a living soon lured Sarah away. She took up a post as storyliner on Australia’s longest running soap, Neighbours. Over two years she helped plot more than 240 hours of television, as well as writing freelance scripts. She remembers her time with the show very fondly — especially the dirty jokes and laughter around the story table — and still writes scripts on a freelance basis.

In 2003 she relocated to New Zealand for her partner’s work. There Sarah served as storyliner and story editor on the country’s top-rating drama, Shortland Street, before quitting to pursue writing full time.

Sarah picked up a love of romance novels from both her grandmothers, and has submitted manuscripts to Harlequin many times over the years. She credits the invaluable story structuring experience she learned on Neighbours as the key to her eventual success — along with the patience of her fantastic editor, Wanda.

Sarah is revoltingly happy with her partner of twelve years, Chris, who is a talented scriptwriter. Not only does he offer fantastic advice and solutions to writing problems, but he’s also handsome, funny and sexy. When she’s not gushing over him, she loves to read romance and fantasy novels, go to the movies, sew and cook for her friends. She has also become a recent convert to Pilates, which she knows she should do more often.

I've read all of these stories and enjoyed them all--just going to feature one for the review:

**I was given an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion**

This is a sweet story of the romance of Emma and Hudson. They're attracted. There's definitely sizzle between them. Enough for a summer fling. But, they're both lost and searching for something. As they spend the summer on Emma's grandpa's last tour as a country artist before retiring, they spend a lot of time trying to find answers about themselves and each other. During the tour, Emma is inspired to write a song...a song from her heart...a song that ends up being the story of her summer cowboy. While each must confront the past to move forward, they take this journey together, and somewhere along the way, a friendship is formed, and the lust blossoms into a love for a lifetime.

Close to Her Heart BY C.J. CARMICHAEL

Dani Carrigan, the academic of the Carrigan family, has always relied on logic when making important life decisions. But when she discovers she’s pregnant—and that there’s a chance her baby may be born “not perfect”—deciding what to do isn’t so easy.

It would help if the father, Adrian Carlson, department head at the University of Washington in Seattle where they both work, would pop the question. But the widower seems more interested in protecting his six-year-old daughter than committing to his new relationship with Dani.

The last time Dani felt so alone and scared was when she was 16 and her mother died in an accident at their family ranch, leaving Dani to raise her younger sisters with precious little help from her distant and disapproving father. She felt so inadequate then. But is she any more prepared to be a mother now?

Support comes from an unlikely source. Dani always saw her next-door neighbour and friend, divorce attorney Elliot Gilmore, as a charming, handsome, playboy-type. But with each challenge Dani faces, from pregnancy, to delivery and beyond—Elliot reveals himself to be more of a man than she ever guessed. Is it possible that in all the years she’s known him, Elliot hasn’t been playing the field—but waiting for her?

Make-Believe Wedding
by
Sarah Mayberry
Everyone in Marietta, Montana, is in love and getting married – at least that’s the way it feels to Andie Bennett the night of the Valentine’s Ball. As she watches the man she’s loved from afar for half her life dance with another woman, Andie allows herself a moment of sheer fantasy as she fills out a stray entry form for the Great Wedding Giveaway. Andie channels years of fantasy and yearning for Heath McGregor onto the page, but she never intends to actually enter the Giveaway. Only a crazy woman would do that. But fate has other ideas….

When Heath learns he and Andie are last minute finalists in the Great Wedding Giveaway, he’s completely baffled. How on earth could anyone make such a ridiculous mistake? When it becomes clear that Andie will be humiliated if the slip-up becomes public, Heath does what any good friend would – he suggests they pretend the engagement is real until the Giveaway is over and then quietly “break up” when no one is paying any attention. It’s the perfect solution, except Heath very quickly realises that pretending Andie is his is no hardship at all. In fact, it may just be the best thing that’s ever happened to him

Take Me, Cowboy
by
Jane Porter
When Jenny Wright‘s fiancé leaves her standing at the altar in a Vera Wang bridal gown she can’t afford, she’s humiliated and heartbroken. To have Marietta hero bull riding champ Colton Thorpe witness her shame – makes the rejection even more devastating.

Jenny and Colton grew up in the same rough neighborhood and they both left home right after school to pursue big dreams. Now they’re both back, with Colton as the celebrity chair for the 75th Copper Mountain Rodeo, and Jenny in disgrace.

Sexy, rugged Colton didn’t get to be a national champion by chance. He’s a man that takes risks and goes after what he wants. During the rodeo weekend, Colton makes it clear he wants Jenny. Flustered but flattered, Jenny finds it difficult to resist his charm. But what happens when the rodeo ends and Colton leaves town? Will she dare to dream again?

Her Summer Cowboy
by
Katherine Garbera
Many years ago Emma Wells turned her back on the music world and its accompanying heartache and bitter, tragic memories, but her famous grandfather’s farewell tour drives Emma from her quiet life back onto the stage and into the lime light. As she picks up her battered guitar once again, she begins to find her song writing voice. Is she beginning to heal or is her inspiration sparked by the heated gaze of the strong, sexy cowboy watching backstage?

The road is the only home Hudson Scott’s ever known since he stormed out of Marietta, Montana when he was 18 years old after a blow out fight with his father. Can the sweet summer nights at the country fairs and a burning attraction to a tempting songstress teach him how to stop running and how to build a life with a woman he just might be falling in love with?

Single bodyguard Nick Calhoun has been given an ultimatum by his boss—find a wife or lose his cushy, high-paying job. Clients’ wives are hitting on him and putting Nick, and his boss, in hot water. But monogamy? He’s never been a white picket fence kind of guy, and he’s not about to embrace the happily married lifestyle now. He needs a wife who doesn’t care about his steamy, extra-curricular love life…and he knows just the woman to fit the bill.

She needs a home…

Adalaide Sinclair spent years caring for her ill grandmother. Addie needs to find a place to live and a job—fast. So when her childhood friend, Nick, proposes a no-sex marriage of convenience, she puts her dreams of true love and happily-ever-after on hold. Finding Prince Charming can wait a little longer, right?

But will their friendship survive the honeymoon?

When Nick and Addie unexpectedly win a dream honeymoon, they decide to go their separate ways during the ten-day vacation. Too bad a camera crew is waiting for them at the tropical paradise. Acting like a head-over-heels bride and groom for reality TV wreaks havoc on their no-sex agreement…and blurs the line between fantasy and reality. Will Nick and Addie remain married in name only, or will a romantic honeymoon for show turn them into true newlyweds?

I read each of these stories separately when they were first released. They are all great books and to have them all in one collection is a great deal! Below are a few of the reviews I posted for the individual stories.
Make Believe Wedding
Andie and Heath have known each other since they were kids. Heath is Andie's brother's best friend and Andie now works for Heath's construction company. After Andie drunkenly fills out an entry form for the Great Wedding Giveaway for her and Heath (even though they weren't even dating) as a way to vent all of her hidden feelings for him - things get very interesting, because they are chosen as finalists in the contest.
I loved reading Andie and Heath's story. This was the final book in the Great Wedding Giveaway series and it was a perfect story to wrap up the contest. I really liked the humor mixed in throughout the story. It was very sweet and funny.
Close to Her Heart
Dani Carrigan is a professor in Seattle, and she is pregnant. The father of her baby is treating her really badly. Her neighbor and friend Eliot is trying to be there for her, but the situation certainly is complicated.
I loved this continuation of the Carrigan family stories. Dani's struggle with decisions surrounding her pregnancy and her life in general were very emotional to read. She had some very serious decisions to make and every decision came with pretty big consequences. Eliot was wonderfully supportive and I loved how caring he was, especially considering he is a divorce attorney. All in all it was a great read.
The Honeymoon Prize
Addie and Nick entered into a marriage of convenience, but things didn't quite go as planned. Addie's friend Emily entered them in a free honeymoon contest and they won, what she didn't tell them is that it was for a reality show. So now they had to pretend to be newlyweds in front of the camera.
Nick and Addie were great characters. I liked both of them right from the start. I loved the descriptions of the island honeymoon getaway. I really wanted to be there on the island as well. I would also love to have Mama Lani to help take care of things for me on a vacation like that.
The chemistry between Nick and Addie was great. Considering they had been friends since childhood it was fun going along on this tropical vacation/adventure with them. It was a nice fun read.
The Long Way Home
I really liked this story. Abby comes back to Marietta to reconnect with her high school sweetheart, Joe. Problem is, she left Joe behind all those years ago to get married to someone else and she doesn't know if Joe will forgive her now that she is divorced and shows back up in his life.
I liked Joe and Abby. The homecoming setting was great as well. It was a really fun, light read and I highly recommend it.

Format: Kindle Edition
Jenny Wright grew up in a little house on the wrong side of the tracks in Mariette Montana and she planned for months to have her perfect wedding there in her home town and now the day is finally here and she is beautiful in her Vera Wang wedding dress and her husband to be catches her on the parking lot of the church to tell her he has changed his mind and is not going to marry her.
What to do what to do? She can't face all her family and friends who are all in the church waiting, she goes to the sidewalk and just starts walking, when who should show up but Colton Thorpe driving his dads beat up old pick up truck. He is not only a professional bull rider but her biggest crush of her life. Jenny pulls herself together enought to have a witty charming conversation with him."
This story just grabs you and pulls you in and I for one have to go find some more Jane Porter books to read.
If you enjoy a hot romance Jenny and Colton's story really has some sizzle to it
