"Sir Owwen cried out to Mark, 'An ambush! Quickly!' Even as he shouted, he grabbed the guard by the wrist, twisted it so that the sword dropped free, and scooped up the weapon." Mark Prescott is not in Odyssey anymore. The Imagination Station has propelled him back in time to the era of brave knights, great castles, an evil nobleman, and a good king. Now Mark finds himself in the middle of a quest for the kind to retrieve a precious ring. But first he has to survive the wicked Sir Cardoc's plan for him! And then he and the valiant Sir Owwen will have to find and do battle with the most dangerous creature in the realm. As Mark moves from adventure to adventure, he learns iimportant lessons about God's control over his life and how He uses even the most difficult experiences to accomplish His will.
Paul McCusker is a writer of many different kinds of things. You may know him from Adventures In Odyssey and Focus On The Family Radio Theatre. Or the Father Gilbert Mysteries. Or the Augustine Institute audio dramas Brother Francis: The Barefoot Saint of Assisi and The Trials of Saint Patrick. Or plays like The First Church of Pete's Garage and Catacombs. Or C.S. Lewis projects like The Chronicles of Narnia audio dramas or The Annotated Screwtape Letters. Or the film Beyond The Mask. Or lots of other dramas, novels, scripts and lyrics. He simply can't make up his mind what he likes to write.
I have really enjoyed this series, but this book felt like it didn't belong. I have been waiting and waiting for the Imagination Station to be used again, but this trip was a disappointment. There are so many stories specifically about going back in time to King Arthur's court and this one didn't really bring anything new or exciting. It felt rushed and incomplete. Perhaps it would have been better if another character like Patti or Whit had joined Matt on his adventure.

This is one of my favorite series and this journey was thrilling to read. I just really love the time period setting of this book. I think the author put a lot of thought into writing these books about adventure and then making it coincide with an important lesson about God's control over his life and how He uses even the most difficult experiences to accomplish His will.
ended up reading the same time as Darien's Rise, was easy to get the two stories confused (by the same author, similar contexts). while the kids liked it, they wanted more Patti from the previous books
