This was such a good read! The way my jaw dropped at all the twists - and that ending?! LOVED IT.
The story follows Andrew and his son Thomas who due to a traumatic break-in have to move every year. Now at their last house, they start to encounter strange occurrences and a sinister object - all this while a storm is approaching.
This was evocative and even emotional which is uncommon for a thriller. The fact that these things can and do happen makes the story even more eerie.

When they settle into their eighth house, quiet unease quickly spirals into claustrophobic dread.What makes this book stand out is its impeccable pacing. I had the pleasure of being getting an ARC of this book! It’s a fun and easy read. I enjoyed the twists and felt like it had really good pacing. Def add to your TBR for spooky season!!

** eArc Read ** A definite page-turner! The paranormal mystery/thriller elements were woven throughout the entire story, and I constantly found myself wanting to keep reading between I needed answers. Every time I thought I was starting to figure out what waa happening, I wanted to know why it was happening and how everything was going to come together.

Moving every year, for 8 years. Different cities, counties, trying to keep his 10 year old son Thomas safe. That is what Andrew has done since ptsd has consumed him following a life changing home invasion that occurred while they were at home when Thomas was only 2.
Now they have moved into a place that feels good, for this coming school year anyway. Thomas likes the house. A good school is close by. Andrew can work from home.
Thomas even found a left behind stuffed teddy bear in the closet to keep him company.
The odd noises must be from “old house settling”. And Andrew just doesn’t remember he left that light on, or that door open, or that chair not pushed in.
This weekend quite a rain and wind storm coming. Streets will likely be flooded and power may go out. What could possibly go wrong?
WTF did I just read?? What?? This is a read straight through, bunch of numbered pages that pulled me right in and kept me guessing the entire time, that’s what this was. These were some well developed characters, quick to attach to, dealing with some pretty creepy spooky stuff, that’s what this was. This was like being at an awesome concert with two curtain calls, heck yes. This was a book that when it’s made into a streaming show I’ll watch it right away but know I’ll still be saying “it was good.. but you have to read the book!”
That’s what this all was.

Same House invited me in from the prologue and never really let me go. The writing is beautifully immersive, the chapters are short, and the pacing made this incredibly easy to devour; I finished it in a day.
I connected with Andrew almost immediately. Beneath everything unsettling happening around him is a father carrying an enormous amount of responsibility, pain, and fear while trying desperately to protect his son. His love and devotion to Thomas give the story an emotional weight I wasn’t expecting, and that became one of my favorite aspects of the book.
The dual POV between Andrew and Thomas was especially well done. Moving from a father’s complicated adult perspective into Thomas’s childhood innocence and humor gave the story such an interesting contrast. And when additional perspectives began appearing...well, that’s where I’m going to stop talking. There are discoveries here that are much better experienced without warning.
And the eeriness? So good. There’s a creeping wrongness woven throughout the house that genuinely made my skin crawl. Every strange occurrence, reaction, and new piece of information had me reconsidering what I thought was happening. I formed my theories. I felt pretty confident about them.
I was completely wrong.
The final stretch gave me several genuine WHAT?! moments, and that ending was an absolute head spinner. I love when a story manages to take everything I’ve assumed, turn it sideways, and somehow land somewhere even better than I imagined.
Emotional, raw, creepy, clever, and completely mind bending. Same House surprised me in the best possible way, and I absolutely loved it.

Upon move in, Thomas finds a creepy teddy bear in his closet. Weird things start to happen in the new house with doors opening themselves, lights being left on, furniture moving, and more.
This novel had my attention from the start, and I did not anticipate the major twist once it hit. My jaw was on the floor. And I find dolls and stuffed animals at this point so creepy.

3.5 ⭐️- Overall I absolutely loved the premise and found the twist pretty unique and unpredictable. This was a quick read with an easy flowing writing style and definitely a great choice for thriller readers!
Things that kept me from rating higher:
a handful of consistency/feasibility errors that I felt stole my attention (probably more than they should have 😅) the main one being the sheer amount of things that a stressed out, exhausted father was able to complete in an hour’s time
Some ideas were a very solid concept but didn’t develop as fully as I felt they could have or should have and I felt that the story would have been just as good without the paranormal elements.
If it hadn’t have been expressly written that the child is 10, I would have assumed them to be much younger given the dialogue and personality.
Overall, I enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend to those who love mysteries and thrillers.

A father and son who move every year, a creepy teddy bear, things move in the house when no one is there, and I suspect the father did something to his wife many year ago and add in a slimey real estate agent for some comedy.
Those were my thoughts after the first few chapters and I was hooked! The story is told from Andrew, the father, and Thomas, the son’s POV. We know Andrew loves his son and will do anything to protect him but we don’t know anything about his past. The story is fast paced and makes you double think everything. A fabulous book!!

This book delivers a creative and unpredictable plot that grabs your attention from the very beginning. Just when you think you know what’s going to happen, the twist changes everything! The story keeps the suspense high with nonstop attention-grabbers, shocking surprises, and unexpected turns that make it difficult to put down. Each chapter adds something new, keeping the reader curious about what will happen next. Overall, it’s an exciting and cleverly written story that keeps you guessing until the very end.

How far would you go to protect your child? Andrew moves his son once a year to keep him safe, but when the house starts making him question his sanity, he questions if this was the right house to move his son to. Following Andrews story as a storm rolls in, you start to question, is the house haunted? Or is Andrew genuinely loosing his mind?
I can 100% say I did not see the plot twists coming! This book is easy to follow and hard to put down! 5 stars ⭐️.
If you like fast paced thrillers this book is for you. Can’t wait until it’s released to have my friends read it.

The Same House is a story about Andrew and his son Thomas. 8 years before, there was a break in that ended in Andrew killing a man to protect his son. Ever since then, he has moved them around every year praying it keeps them safe. This year, the house they move to will bring the past back to haunt them. Wow! "The Same House" was such a good book! After a traumatic break-in, Thomas begins to move him and his son every year to a new house in a new neighborhood. This year, what starts looking like their dream house becomes a nightmare with all the strange things that occur. The unexpected twists that this book took had my jaw on the floor!

Bell's "The Boy" meets the same unsettled vibes from Krillbite Studios "Among the Sleep" in this psychological thriller. The Same House is made for horror-lovers looking to add more suspense into that lurking sense of dread. Every character you meet feels just slightly off and keeps you glued to the pages as you try to unravel the mystery only to find each answered question leads to a dozen more.
The longer we stick with Andrew and Thomas, the more we understand what losses they carry with them. We often think of grief as losing a loved one, but we forget about other ways we grieve even in the simple act of growing up or in loneliness. Thomas in a ten-year-old boy who struggles to form bonds with anyone outside his father as Andrew is the only constant in his life due to their constant moving. We know something is wrong with this picture as Andrew's job doesn't demand he move so often and he's told Thomas he is protecting him, but from what we do not know.
As the story progresses, strange happenings around the house play with our minds. One of the lovely parts of reading is that anything is possible and if you go into this with that mindset you'll be able to put yourself int he shoes of our unreliable narrator. Grief and loss turn to desperation and seizes control of Andrew, pushing him to confront the darkest parts of his own past and bringing to light that the greatest gift in life, love, can quickly become our biggest source of suffering.
Similarly to Morris' past work, The Ghost Writer's Club, each of our disturbing and disturbed characters possess a key point of empathy. Good people can do horrible things and Morris does an excellent job of holding true to that in his story to maintain that gray area at the end. The Same House explores how we grapple with loss and how the refusal to grieve properly only perpetuates the cycle of hurt onto others. We can move as many times as we want, but it's people who are haunted, not houses. The grief lives inside us and no matter where you run you'll find it always follows; it's the same house.

I really liked the whole idea of Andrew and Thomas moving into a new house every year because Andrew is trying so hard to keep his son safe after the traumatic break-in. You can really feel how paranoid and protective Andrew is, and honestly, after everything they’ve been through, I can understand why he keeps running instead of staying anywhere too long.
Once they move into the house on Buena Vista Boulevard, things start getting weird pretty quickly. Chairs moving on their own, Thomas’s homework disappearing, the noises from the attic, and little things happening around the house made me constantly wonder what was actually going on. And then there’s the teddy bear wanting to be Thomas’s new mother… yeah, that was definitely creepy! I loved how the house itself felt like it was becoming another threat, especially with the huge storm approaching and Andrew already being on edge.
I did wish we got a little more storyline with how quickly Thomas adjusted to being Noah. That felt like a pretty big change, I would have liked that part to be a little more in depth because it felt like such a big change and something that could have added even more to the story.
Overall, I really enjoyed this one. The strange things happening in the house kept me curious, and I liked the mystery behind why Andrew and Thomas had spent eight years constantly moving. It had that unsettling, “something is definitely not right here” feeling that kept me reading.

Having read Morris’ previous work, "The Ghost Writers Club" one of the things I appreciated most about The "Same House" was seeing how much he has grown as a writer. The storytelling feels more confident, the pacing is tighter, and the emotional depth of the characters adds another layer to the suspense.
While the paranormal elements and mystery kept me turning pages, the relationship between Andrew and Thomas was the heart of the story for me. Their bond felt authentic and gave the stakes real emotional weight. The premise of a father and son trying to outrun the shadows of their past while strange events unfold in their newest home pulled me in immediately. The twists and turns and unexpected surprises kept me reading long after I should have gone to bed.

But almost immediately, creepy and unexplainable things start happening — strange noises in the walls, objects moving, and an escalating sense of dread. Andrew is determined to protect his son at all costs, but as the story unfolds, you realize that nothing about this house — or the people in it — is what it seems.
I’ll admit, I wasn't entirely sure where the story was headed at first, and I was constantly trying to guess what was really going on behind the scenes. But as the atmospheric tension built up, the pacing completely took off, and the plot blew wide open! The second half delivers twist after twist, completely changing how you see everything that came before. Literally NONE of my theories were right, and that ending left me completely stunned!

THE SAME HOUSE had twists & turns left & right including loss, revenge if you will & a big secret that I was NOT expecting going in! I love anything that has to do with ghosts, being watched/followed, haunted houses & reveals that make me gasp- this story hit every mark for me.
However, not a huge deal but I do think Thomas could have been maybe 7 or 8 rather than 10 years old just with his dialogue. Overall, I enjoyed the book as a whole & fans of John Marrs would feel the same. 👏🏻

The book grabbed my attention right from the beginning! I had actually had a very busy week when I received the book and from the beginning when I started reading, I wished I had it on audible so I could listen to it while getting things done! The form of communication and the excessive moving in the beginning made me want to know more/why. The build up and anticipation was great and then BAM it took a turn I was not expecting. I originally didn't want it to go where it did, but then thought ok maybe this is a good thing? Honestly after finishing the book last night I'm still trying to decide how I feel (which is great when an author keeps you thinking about a book when you are done with it) Cody really makes you think about love, loss, heartbreak, and joy, with an ending that has ANOTHER twist and my heart/brain are not sure how they feel about that either! This was a great book, interesting, gives you a connection to characters, and makes you feel all the feels! Thank you so much for the ARC copy and congratulations to you Cody! Definitely give this one a read!

The Same House by Cody Wayne Morris is such a fun and exciting read! I went in not really knowing anything, but I thoroughly enjoyed the ride.
This book has a little bit of everything--a neurotic, overprotective single dad, a thoughtful and lonely kid, a beautiful but old (and maybe haunted???) house, a fabulous and fashionable realtor, a quirky, campy, lovable but mysterious older next door neighbor, shadowy figures, a mysterious past, some unreliable narrators, people who just refuse to communicate effectively with one another often out of politeness, a vaguely creepy teddy bear, and all set with a looming terrifying storm on the horizon!
The pacing is so good, and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I consistently found myself pushing for "just one more chapter."
I found I was sort of guessing how some of our characters and storylines converged, but the way it shook out in the end was not what I expected at all!
Overall, a super fun and quick summer read, and I highly recommend it!

Thank you to the publisher and Goodreads Giveaways for sending me the kindle edition of this book! I was immediately hooked from page one and thought the premise was so intriguing. The story kept me interested the whole way through and it really delivered with its pace and twists. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a fast popcorn thriller this fall! Unfortunately, this book didn't quite give me 4-star vibes based on the ending and the big reveal at the end. It felt a little rushed and I thought it glossed over some pivotal moments that we should have seen not heard. At times I had a hard time suspending belief in order to have a good time. I just wasn't sold on the way things panned out in the end and felt like there were a few plot holes that could have been explained a little better. Regardless, if you are looking for a quick and fun thriller, overall I would recommend.
