I wanted to be absolutely feral over this book. Instead, I finished it thinking "That was lovely" which, unfortunately, isn't quite the same thing.
A grumpy Lycan. An enchanted forest. Cottagecore magic. A Little Red Riding Hood retelling. On paper, this should've been an easy win for me. Instead, I spent most of the book waiting for it to completely sink its teeth into me...
...and it never quite did.
What worked for me
(aka: the reasons this still landed at 3 stars)
Juniper Hollow was the real main character
Forget the romance - I was ready to frolic irresponsibly into Juniper Woods myself. I was one berry tart away from quitting my job, moving into a cozy little cottage and becoming local folklore. Juniper Hollow felt less like a setting and more like somewhere I wanted to come home to.
The setting absolutely carried this book for me. The enchanted forest, the cozy cabins, the cliff walks, the butterfly sanctuary, Grandma June's cottage, the festivals...it all felt wonderfully immersive. This wasn't just a backdrop - it had a heartbeat. Every trail, cabin and hidden corner felt lived in, making it impossible not to want to wander straight into its embrace.
Every time the story leaned into the folklore, the ancient magic and the bond between the land and its protectors, I was completely locked in.
Blanche's journey home
I was expecting to obsess over the romance but I found myself far more invested in Blanche untangling the life she'd accidentally built.
The burnout, the guilt over her grandmother, the relentless chase for promotions and success, only to realise she'd lost herself along the way...that felt incredibly relatable. Watching her reconnect with Everwick, rediscover slower living and question what success actually looked like gave the story emotional weight beyond the romance.
It wasn't about finding Jonathan.
It was about finding herself again.
Where it lost me
(aka: where my feral little reader heart started checking the progress bar)
Sir .. I was rooting for you
Jonathan had one hell of a first impression. Grumpy, capable, quietly protective, rebuilding cabins with his sleeves rolled up? I was absolutely prepared to climb that man like a tree.
Unfortunately...he slowly talked me out of my own crush.
I completely understood why he struggled with trust after everything he'd experienced. His past explained his fears. But when he bought into Erik's manipulation so quickly after everything he and Blanche had built together, I found myself more frustrated than heartbroken.
I understood where he was coming from.
I was still annoyed.
By the end, I found myself more emotionally invested in the enchanted forest than I was in the actual wolf man, which probably isn't ideal for a romance.
Too much talking...not enough tension
This book is incredibly emotionally mature...almost to a fault.
Nearly every obstacle was followed by another heartfelt conversation, another emotional revelation and another moment of mutual understanding. Individually, those scenes were beautifully written. Collectively, they started feeling repetitive.
I kept waiting for the romance to become messy. To ache. To leave me desperate for these two to find their way back to each other.
Instead, everything felt surprisingly...safe.
Even the conflict resolved itself quicker than I expected and by the end almost every loose thread had been tied into a neat little bow.
The final act finally remembered it was fantasy
Ironically, the last quarter of the book was exactly what I'd been waiting for.
The stakes skyrocketed, the fantasy elements finally stepped into the spotlight, the Little Red Riding Hood inspiration came alive and suddenly I couldn't put the book down. It was exciting, dangerous and genuinely gripping.
My only complaint?
I wish we'd borrowed a little of that energy much earlier because the ending showed me exactly what this book had been capable of all along.
Final Thoughts
This is one of those books that's very easy to admire but a little harder to become obsessed with.
The writing is beautiful. The setting is magical. Blanche's personal journey was genuinely touching. But the leisurely pacing, repetitive emotional beats and romance that never quite reached the emotional intensity I was craving meant I finished this feeling pleasantly satisfied rather than completely consumed.
Sometimes I wanted less couples therapy...
...and just a little more wolf.
Final Verdict
A beautifully written fantasy romance with an enchanting setting and heartfelt themes about grief, home and starting over but one that never fully embraced the bite hidden beneath its bark.

ARC review
Oh how I love a good urban fantasy with a swoony romance and fleshed out characters set in a small town. You also get a story that’s loosely inspired fairytale story (little red ridinghood). Honestly perfect for anyone who loves romantasy!
I loved Blanchette and Jonathan’s story. I’ll always love a good grumpy x sunshine trope. The banter and spice was spot on, as well as the heartfelt moments between the two of them. It was surprisingly emotional with their pasts, and especially with Blanchette’s grandmother.
What hit me the most is the mentions of Blanchette grandmother throughout the book and how much the story centers around her legacy. As someone who has lost her grandmother, it definitely hit close to home and made me very much emotional. It also drew me closer to Blanchette and her character. I adore her and her compassion for people around her, including her grandmother.
I flew through this book and I fell in love with Juniper Woods, and would love to see more if the authors ever decides to write more in this universe. If you love cozy romantasy with a grump MMC and a determined FMC then you should most definitely check out this book!!
I have always loved (and will continue to love) Zoey’s writing and I loved seeing Marcio making his writing debut alongside. I can’t wait to see what stories Marcio writes in the future!

This was a sloooow burn and unfortunately I don't think that worked very well for me. There's a lot of set-up for this story as opposed to Zoey's other books but for some reason even with all the set-up, I was left with a lot of confusion and questions about this particular world. I think it would've been better for me if I was just thrown into the world and learned things along the way since we didn't really get a full scope of things anyway.
As for the romance, in my opinion it was non-existent on one page and then made a complete 180 on thr next page. I think I got whiplash from how quickly these two characters decided they were super into each other. That's not to say that there wasn't some attraction and lust beforehand but I genuinely feel like there wasn't a proper build-up to lead to the change of heart.
That being said, once they do properly fall for one another I did ADORE them together and their moments together were definitely my favorite part of the book! Even their simple quiet moments working separately but in the same room were perfect.
There is an overarching plot with some intense moments that made things really pick up towards the end of the book. I do feel like some of the resolutions to the conflicts were a little convenient buuuut this is a fairytale retelling and that's a pretty common trope in fairytales so I think it's warranted.
Overall while this is the first time I haven't loved a Zoey Draven book, it still had its moments :)

2.5 stars, rounding up. I do believe there’s an audience for this, this one just wasn’t what I’d expected.

This was so cute! Not what I typically expect from Zoey Draven. It was the cutest, coziest fantasy book I’ve read in forever. The love interests felt mature, they acted their age (for the most part) and I have so much fun reading this. It was a fantasy Hallmark read. I highly recommend if you are looking for a magical, coastal, small town with pie bake offs and eerie woods that protect their own.

A Wolfe in the Woods was not quite what I expected. It is a cozy urban fantasy romance that leans into the leisurely pace of a wondrous and sometimes haunting forest; that has a slow, rolling, and gentle romance; and a plot that is more modern and corporate rather than fantastical. My expectations are sometimes my worst enemy, and the disparity between what I thought this story would be and what it ended up being, is, I think, the reason I wasn't able to fully click with certain elements, though there was still plenty to enjoy.
I have been a long-time fan of Zoey's; I have read a lot of Zoey's books. And certainly here, I could see all the reasons why she's one of my favorite authors. Her and Marcio's writing felt seamless and natural. There were moments where I felt like I could pick out their distinct styles, but overall, I never felt like the tone or writing shifted so dramatically that it took me out of the story. And the story is certainly one that I would categorize as cozy. The plot is meandering and languid at first, lingering on Blanchette's moments of relaxation and exploration in the woodland B&B that Jonathan runs. But not only that, the writing also goes into expansive and beautiful descriptions of these woods, slowing the pace of the storytelling to give us a sense of the environment and the connection to the land that gradually builds throughout the book.
And here enters my first subverted expectation: I had thought there would be a heavier fantasy element than there ended up being. Even when the plot started to solidify into something more concrete—and dangerous—it was driven largely by the urban part of this story rather than the fantasy romance. While some of it does weave in with the fantasy, particularly around the legends of the forest and Jonathan's Lycan ancestry, I just wished we had gotten a bit more of it. The magic we do see isn't fully explained, instead the book leans into the more modern themes of conservation, right to land, and corporate greed.
Jonathan is a recluse, a grump, and hiding out in and restoring Juniper Hollow as a way to lick his wounds from his past in the city of Greymore. Blanche is an overworked, stressed city girl originally from the sea-side town near Juniper Hollow who is now lost and adrift after the death of her grandmother. I really liked the way that they came together—their romance is certainly a slower burn. There isn't much tension or attraction in their first meeting, but I loved seeing how spending time together, overcoming their initial judgements of each other, and discovering the connection in their past really brought them together.
Similarly here, a lot of the traditional wolf-like qualities that I've come to enjoy in shifter, werewolf, Lycan romances (scenting, possession, perhaps even fated mates), didn't quite show up the way that I thought they would. And it took me quite a while to get to that swooning, giddy feeling over their romance that I crave. Though the one thing that I love about Zoey's books always, is the emotional journeys that her characters go on, and Jonathan and Blanche's growth here did eventually win me over.
Now that I've finished and am able to take in the book as a whole, objectively, I think A Wolfe in the Woods is a wonderful cozy romance that touches on so many important themes around nature and the protection of wild places. Written in dual first person POV the story follows mortal Blanchette as she hits a burnout under Graymoor City's most powerful corporate heir. On doctor's orders she needs a break and her best friend treat her to a bucolic cabin in the woods retreat to get away from it all, which also happens to her old stomping grounds and filled with memories of her late grandmother. What she wasn't expecting was Jonathan, the gruff owner of the bed and breakfast with his own secrets. As they find themselves drawn closer to each other it becomes clear there is a connection and together they must decide what they will fight for as Juniper Woods is under threat. Will Blanchette risk everything she has built for a Lycan she falls for and a memory of a past she ran from or will fall to the other wolf in the woods?
This book is fun and perfect for those craving a fairytale reimagining with a good amount of spice and some angsty banter!
Blanchette is that corporate girlie we all feel at times. She has desperately been climbing the ladder but more recent changes makes the end seem so much farther. I can feel her struggle as she has fought so hard for this job that is destroying her bit by bit. I liked how the break away refreshed her to take a look at what she loved in her work all those years ago. She is a fighter!
Jonathan may be gruff but he is a man with a past that makes him oh so much fun. I liked how down to earth he has become and I felt he has a lot of guilt around his past. He doesn't feel himself worthy initially but when he fights for Blanchette I was in love. I also felt the history behind him and Blanchette's grandmother was sweet.
In terms of spice I would place this novel at 2.5 spicy peppers out of 5 spicy peppers. There are about 3 spicy scenes with the first appearing around 56%. The spice is explicit and detailed and these characters are not shy exploring intimacy outside of the house. I felt the build up from the animosity between them to them falling was approached well and the passion that unfolds draws them deeper. There is surrender and control play in the spice that adds an extra oomph to it.
The story itself is character driven with a lighter plotline to follow that grows in the second half. I liked how we got time in the first half to see these characters become comfortable and to also help feel more connected to the setting since the land of the B&B is important to the later plot. I also appreciated side characters like May (I loved her magic!) and Megan who give us lore and backstory that moves the story along. There is also this beautiful theme around loss and grief we get to explore that brings both our characters together. When the overarching plot begins to hit in the second half I was thus invested to see it unfold not just because of the characters but because of mystery and wonder of the woods. There are some traditional elements to the romance but the twist of the fairy tale was fun and added some intensity as it has multi layers. Blanchette gets to stand her ground in multiple ways and I loved that...and Jonathan got to be feral and I was living for it! Overall, there is a sweet ending that brings everything together.
Overall, I definitely recommend giving this a try!

My issues with this book stem purely from the writing style. It’s not reminiscent of Zoey’s usual work - so maybe the coauthor has more influence? I saw some saying AI and I can contend that a few parts feel suspect, but I’m also not going to wholesale call Zoey out when I know her writing is good (normally).
This novel becomes a repetitive, overly flowery, slog very quickly. Why is everything listed in groups of 3’s? Why is so much of the book “not this. It’s this” (there is that hallmark of AI). It’s not enough to make an outright accusation, it’s just bad writing I think?
Like this:
There were reasons I hadn’t come. Excuses I’d made. Schedules. Deadlines. Distance. (A list of 3 things) But they sounded hollow now. All of them. “And if there’s one thing I can smell from a mile away…it’s the scent of guilt.” “Why are you being like this?” I asked quietly. “Y-You’re being cruel.” His jaw tightened until a muscle throbbed. His eyes locked onto mine—unblinking, fixed. A hunter’s stare. (Another list of 3).
And next sentence:
“if he were circling—while all around us, the forest seemed to lean in. Trees, limbs, and brambles inching closer.(3 things, synonymous really) Like it wasn’t just watching. Like it was trying to cage us. Or cage me.” (It’s not this, it’s this).
Later, like maybe 2 pages:
“The longer I stood there, the louder the silence became. Like the whole forest was holding its breath, waiting for me to say what I couldn’t, offering me a chance to throw it into the wind and let it be carried away, absolving me.” Another list. The writing does this so often. Why must we embellish what a reader already can build? And do it so frikkin often?? This continues the entire novel. It’s what lowered this rating so hard.
The story is fine. I didn’t connect with either character and the story building was a bit lackluster. Jonathan was incredibly one note, just kind of pissed off and he’s pissed off that he is pissed off. And Blanche just isn’t a person. She what? Hates her job? Doesn’t everyone. Gets easily nervous in strange situations? K that’s pretty standard. She wants to be permanently on vacation in a destination she chooses? K so she’s just like everyone else. Cool. Oh she has family trauma? Who doesn’t? Legit there is not one actual trait that makes this girl interesting. She’s about as fun as a paper bag.

3.5-4 Stars!
I was so excited to pick this book up! Not only was it a first for Zoey Draven in terms of a paranormal contemporary romance, it was also her first co-write. This was Marcio Catalano’s debut story and I’ll say I am intrigued to read more!
Zoey already excels at world building, of making you feel like you completely understand the world, where you feel like it’s real place. It’s the same thing here, I felt the magic of Juniper Hollow and mechanical coldness of Graymore. I loved how more of the world got uncovered as Blanchette experienced it with Jonathan.
Speaking of our main characters, I loved the journey of them apart. Blanchette and Jonathan both were running from their past; Blanchette from her grief and guilt and Jonathan from his father and his past. I loved seeing how they worked through what they were going through.
SOME SPOILERS:
Now together, I felt like while I truly did love Jonathan, Blanchette was the one doing most of the heavy lifting in their relationship and I needed to see Jonathan be vulnerable more. I’m all for an a-hole male lead but I found him to be too cruel at times with no repercussions because Blanchette understood him and what he was going through. I LOVED that she did, truly, but maybe I was looking for some Zoey Draven signature grovelling. But also, I didn’t leave the story 100% believing he wouldn’t hurt her with his words again when things got hard and that’s a big thing for me.

I love when there is such chemistry between co-authors because then you get some great stuff. This felt like a very well paced story to me, I loved the first meeting down to the climax of the story, it was very well rounded.
I also really appreciate how the importance of protecting the land and keeping places as they are, was woven into the story. It really made this story more impactful and gave it a lasting depth outside of the romance.
The world was a place I truly want to revisit and I hope we get another book by Draven and Catalano in the Hollow soon!

This book was a solid 4.5 star read. From the very start, this book was rich in worldbuilding, creating a unique paranormal world that was caught between modern day life and magic. There was such a fairytale meets lore kind of feel to this book with the rich history that's steeped into the land of Juniper Woods. From the smoggy, tiring, weighted city of Graymore to the crisp, rejuvenating fresh air of Juniper Hollow, I loved seeing this world through Blanche and Jonathan's eyes. They were both characters that I connected with and really liked. Though at first they seemed at odds, I loved how their connection to Grandma June bloomed into something truly special.
With tough pasts, Blanche and Jonathan both overcame so much in this book. I loved seeing their growth and realization that they were stronger and better together than apart. While this book was a lot milder in spice, the spicy scenes themselves didn't disappoint. This isn't to mention all of the heated looks and flashing eyes of the beast within Jonathan whenever Blanchette caught him looking.
Another thing I really liked about this book was the light humor that was woven in. I caught myself grinning and chuckling at times from the banter between Blanche and Jon-boy. Speaking of Jon-boy, I absolutely loved May! I just adored that she could see and know things, even though she was blind. She just was such an awesome side character and I loved how much she was shipping Jon-boy and Blanche.
Moving onto the big bad wolf of the story, Erik made such a great villain in this story. I particularly LOVED the scene where he cornered Blanche with the "my, what big eyes you have" line. It was giving alllll the best little red riding hood vibes. I liked how he had an air of mystery and knowing about him that made him seem one step ahead of Blanche. He was a villain that seemed hard to defeat, which made it all the more awesome with the big scene at the end of the book.

4.5 stars! I became a fan of Zoey Draven this year and have loved all her books, this one was both different in vibe but also her writing came through for sure. I want to thank Zoey & Marcio for giving me an advanced copy of this to read, I really loved the story they wrote together!
The first 50% of the book is a lot of world building. It's descriptive and beautiful! I think I read that it was inspired by a place in California but it reminded me of a place in New Hampshire in the mountains that I visit often with family that is really special to me. Every description of the woods, the water, the town, the feeling you get when you're there vs the busy city was so accurate and immersive.
I think what was interesting to me is that this melded contemporary and paranormal aspects in this world where our mcs experienced burnout from corporate work but there are also a multitude of types of species all living together in this world.
There is exploration of grief for both characters which is important to their budding relationship. While there is a lighter plot of the two worlds (city and woods) clashing, this book felt way more character driven. With all the descriptions of the world I mentioned above, it has a very cozy feel as well.
I think you could also call the romance slow burn since it takes a bit for the characters to come together and it's a longer book but that being said there are several explicit scenes in the book!
I think what I enjoyed the most is how there were very light moments and very heavy moments all encased in the story which feels more like real life.
Definitely an interesting read that I suggest giving a try if you like the things I've mentioned and loved the writing by Zoey & Marcio!

I think I read that it was inspired by a place in California but it reminded me of a place in New Hampshire in the mountains that I visit often with family that is really special to me. Every description of the woods, the water, the town, the feeling you get when you're there vs the busy city was so accurate and immersive.
I think what was interesting to me is that this melded contemporary and paranormal aspects in this world where our mcs experienced burnout from corporate work but there are also a multitude of types of species all living together in this world.
There is exploration of grief for both characters which is important to their budding relationship. While there is a lighter plot of the two worlds (city and woods) clashing, this book felt way more character driven. With all the descriptions of the world I mentioned above, it has a very cozy feel as well.
I think you could also call the romance slow burn since it takes a bit for the characters to come together and it's a longer book but that being said there are several explicit scenes in the book!
I think what I enjoyed the most is how there were very light moments and very heavy moments all encased in the story which feels more like real life.
Definitely an interesting read that I suggest giving a try if you like the things I've mentioned and loved the writing by Zoey & Marcio!

I found this to be a bit different from her usual though as it is her first foray into cowriting and it's also Mario's debut novel. Guys, I had the best time reading this book!! I rarely read books written by two different authors but I must say I enjoyed this one very much. The way it was depicted was so natural and easy to follow and I always love Zoey's books so I knew this wasn't gonna be any different.
This follows the story of blachette, who after years of working in the city decides to go back to her childhood town, Everwick-by-the-Sea. Here she meets Jonathan, the grumpy owner of the b&b she's staying at, and a lycan. And even though they have a rough start, it seems they can't stay away from each other for too long.
Urban fantasy is starting to become my new favorite genre, I loved how this book incorporated this into the story and created a narrative that it wasn't boring at all. Also I loved the characters so much! I kinda relate to Blanche a little like I know how it must feel to want to get out of the town you live and chase big dreams only to realize you don't want them anymore but I also love the fact that she decides to get out of a toxic environment and finally do what makes her happy.
Jonathan was everything I love in mmc's, especially the grumpy part and how sweet and feral he was with Blanche and how well they complement each other <3

A Wolfe in the Woods was such a fun shift in sub-genre for Zoey!! The characters were talking about having cell phones, and it really shocked me for a second. I really enjoyed this new universe, and I kinda hope that maybe we get more stories in this universe eventually.
I love books that talk about grief!! Blanche is mourning her grandmother and trying to decide what she should do next. Jonathan is also mourning her grandmother, so it was really sweet when they would talk about her and share stories. Their romance was very sweet, once they got past their beef with each other. I really liked how Blanche was not afraid to speak her mind, and I loved how much Jonathan adored her.
This book has one of my favorite tropes, and it’s when the MMC makes an assumption about the FMC and is ride to her because of it. Then, when he learns the truth, he has to grovel and apologize to make it right. IT HITS EVERY TIME!!! Although, I will say that I’m not entirely sure Jonathan did enough to make it right lol. He was so rude for so long, and I think he maybe could’ve done more to make it up to Blanche. But that’s just my opinion as a man hater!

Draven has written a lot of books that I’ve enjoyed. I’ve actually been on a bit of a marathon with her older books (which I forgot to log), and got lucky with the release date of this book!
However, this book sounded a lot different than her other stories. It may be because it’s co-written – which isn’t a bad thing! But I prefer Draven’s individual work a little more.
What I liked:
- The setting
- The plot/story -> especially the pacing of the romance
- The characters (everyone was distinct in their personality)
What I didn’t like:
- There were a lot of moments where I thought the writing was “telling” and not “showing”

This didn’t feel like it needed to be a little red riding hood retelling. The plot stood alone solidly without the references, and hearing them took me out of the story. For instance, when Erik says, “I’ll huff… and I’ll puff… and I’ll blow your dreams down” (p. 17 Kindle edition).
Overall, this may not have been my absolute favorite of Draven’s, but I look forward to what she will write in the future!

It was ok book,but for Zoey Draven,it was lukeworm!All of her books that I read so far she always had perfect line between characters,dialogue,description,plot and I cant help but notise that she lost me few time in iner talk with characters.Too much description of land,I think and too much repeat of same thinking,I have a feeling that I read about everything more but the main characters.
Its very rare to have author,whose books you know,when you have to read it gona be great,everyone has style,way of working story,unique signature,and Zoey is one of them for me that beat every box in checklist,that is why she is my one of favorites authors,but here I didnt have feeling that I have read her book.
Sorry to say, I hardly wait for your next book,hoping for next in series you have so far because this is not been good for me,and I hope that you are going to write it yourself alone because it was better that way!

Zoey, another banger of a book! If you are craving a cozy paranormal romance with an FMC learning how to cope with grief, you are in luck as this releases this Tuesday, 7/28!
Loved the cozy vibe this book had and with a book from two authors, this story was seamless! I love Zoey’s books and with Marcio, this had a flair that gave it uniqueness to be different from her other writing.
I really like the plot twists and turns as they kept me on my toes! But omg, the grief hit me hard as I had a close bond with my grandma. I knew what Blanche was going through and was on par with how I coped with my grief. And Jonathan? We love a good grumpy gills MMC that is also sweet and feral for his female. My favorite side character was Meg as she was a spitfire and everything that came out of her mouth was hilarious.

I NEED a vacation in Everwick-by-the-Sea. Reading A Wolfe in the Woods felt so immersive, you couldn't convince me I wasn't in a cozy cabin in the woods when I was reading the ARC in the evening.
I'm obsessed with the coziness clashing with the corporate, and Blanche realizing what matters most to her and fighting for it. Jonathan's bond with the land and all the ways he was caring for it were so sweet I teared up a few times.
I especially enjoyed seeing Blanche and Jonathan deal with their individual grief. Nature is quite healing, and then they have each other 🥹
Also... hello side characters, tell me more 👀 that minotaur in the elevator should definitely book a cabin (but give him extra instructions because the poor guy adorably can't find his way through the office building)

Hallmark Meets Steamy Paranormal
Interesting book that reads like a Hallmark movie meets a very steamy paranormal romance which is not necessarily a bad thing overall. The only downsides to the book was that it was a bit overly long and took quite a bit of time getting started but once it got going it was a decent read. There were quite a few editing errors with words missing in the middle of the sentences. It would have been a smoother read if more attention had been paid to proofreading the text before publishing. It is not always advisable to use just spellcheck or an AI editor if you want a quality book. But overall the story was okay. Not Zoey Draven’s best though. As for Marcio Catalano’s first book, it was fairly decent. Hopefully as he writes more he will continue to positively evolve as a writer.

Did not finish. I really wanted to like this. I enjoy Zoey Draven, and this magical world had so much potential, but a few things put me off. One, it’s obvious AI was used to write parts of this book, especially Jonathan’s POV. It read like every other AI book out there, and I’m exhausted reading this stuff. It feels taxing at this point, not to mention disappointing. Two, I didn’t care about either character. I got 30% into the book, and neither author had convinced me to care about either the FMC or MMC. I only hung in there for the world building and magic, but in the end, it just wasn’t enough.
If the authors were to rewrite this without AI, and with better character development, I think it could be special. Until then, it’ll remain as DNF.

If you're expecting a wolf shifter with knot, it's knot gonna happen.
The girl from a small town moved to the big city and lost herself along the way, discovered the wonders of her small town again since big city is soulless. The plot is typical of the genre, but it's set in a multi species universe and I wish we saw more of that.
The romance was gentle but sizzling which I expected that of Zoey Draven but I wanted more from the overarching plot. I think if you like cosy, a hike in the woods, big city baddies, this is a book for you.

This was a departure from Zoey's regular work, and in the best way and it was lovely to have the addition of Marciano, whom I was not familiar with before.
I love that this was inspired by Little Red Riding Hood! It was a very cosy read - I loved the small town itself, and the cottage forest settings.
I did struggle a little to place everything in the larger world, as it's quite expansive. However, the characters were well fleshed out and very likeable! There's a slowburn between the two leads that pays off. Zoey is the Queen of spice 🙌 And I loved the dramatic culmination of the backstory!
Definitely recommend for a cute and cosy read!
