The only thing more dangerous than my past is the wolf who’s been hunting me all along.
Hallie The woman I used to be died the day I testified against my own family. I’ve made myself unrecognizable because being seen could get me killed. Except, there’s one man whose gaze I covet. For three years, the darkest Bellucci has watched me from afar—never speaking, never touching, never coming closer. Until one night, I wake up and he’s in my bed. And I discover the man I ran to for protection might be the most dangerous one of all. Remo My father taught me young that watching keeps you safe. Now, it’s the only thing that keeps me sane. But when it comes to Hallie Mitchell, just watching isn’t enough. Because the moment I have her skin against mine and her taste on my tongue, the voices inside my head go quiet. And now there’s no body I won’t bury for her. No blood I won’t spill. No war I won’t start. She’s spent three years running from a pack of animals. It’s time she learned what happens when a wolf decides she’s his. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Author note: This is a standalone dark mafia romance with many of the triggers you would expect from a novel of this genre. Reader discretion is advised.
Tropes: Unhinged stalker - Total obsession - Childhood trauma - Masked hero - Childhood history - Wounded FMC - Touch her and d!e - Sleep pl*y - Hidden identities
Genre: Dark Romance (Mafia) ⭐️3.5/5 🌶3/5 Cliffhanger: No Noteworthy: Book 2 in a series of interconnected standalones with no overarching plot. It does not need need to be read in order. Dual first-person POV. Content warnings provided. Expected publication date is 10/22/2026.
This book has some cliche mafia tropes but one unique thing that it has going for it is a twist on the typical stalking trope. Here we have an MMC who experienced a very traumatic childhood. His trauma culminates in him having a visceral need to protect vulnerable women. He only stalks to protect and never interacts with anyone he's protecting. Being inside his head as he's processing his trauma through the actions of his targets and his own decisions was a really unique experience. Remo is not your typical mafia dark alpha hero. And I was here for it. To me, this aspect alone makes this book worth reading. There are some great possessive scenes so if that's your thing then you will love this.
Thank you to Netgalley and Victoria Holliday for the gifted eARC.
Victoria Holliday, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME?! Because excuse me? I went into To Cover a Wolf expecting a deliciously dark stalker romance, but I was NOT prepared for how completely these two would consume me. I finished this book in 48 HOURS and immediately jumped into book one of the series because apparently I have absolutely no self-control 😭😂
If you love stalker dark romances, THIS is the kind of obsessed MMC I'm talking about!!! Remo doesn't just watch Hallie. He sees her, ALL of her, even the parts she tries so desperately to hide. The possessiveness, the protectiveness, the way this man is absolutely GONE for her! SIR 🫠🖤 And the fact that she's the one person who can quiet the chaos inside his head🥹
But what really caught me off guard was how much I loved Hallie and how deeply I connected with their vulnerability. Beneath all the stalking, tension, and ridiculously addictive spice, there's something so raw about two people who have spent so long hiding from the world, convinced they're too damaged to be loved
“I have all of her, right here. I could wrap myself around her like a cocoon, keep her safe and warm until she’s ready to emerge as the extraordinary butterfly she is beneath all that box dye and bravado.”
THIS. RIGHT. HERE. 😭😭😭 How am I supposed to remain normal after reading something like that?!
And that's what I absolutely adored about this book. It doesn't shy away from the uncomfortable feelings, the messy emotions, or the uglier sides of love and obsession. It actually makes you sit with them, and somehow, between all the darkness, Victoria manages to make you feel EVERYTHING.
You'll giggle, curse, blush, probably question your taste in fictional men 😂, and then suddenly find yourself getting emotional over two characters u never expected to become so attached to.
“You can’t keep someone alive by watching them. You can’t love them from a distance to ensure that losing them won’t hurt. All you can do is get as close as you can, and hope that you get enough time.” 😭💔
I genuinely wasn't expecting to be this absorbed by BOTH the MMC and FMC. EVERYTHING had me in a chokehold.
This book was dark, intense, emotional, and so ridiculously addictive. Definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but for those of us who love our fictional men a little (okay, A LOT) unhinged? REMO IS THE STANDARD. 🫠🔪🖤
Victoria Holliday, you have officially gained another obsessed reader, and I fear there's no going back 😭❤️
A suffocating, dark, and painfully addictive journey.
Let’s see, where do I start without sounding like I’ve lost my mind? The truth is, I started reading To Covet a Wolf expecting the typical mafia story with the usual obsessive hero, but Victoria Holliday decided to take all the genre’s clichés, throw them in a blender, and give them a much rawer and more tense twist. The dynamic between Hallie and Remo doesn’t give you a second to catch your breath.
The story puts us in the shoes of Hallie, a protagonist who literally had to reinvent herself and vanish off the map after testifying against her own family. She lives in a state of constant paranoia where being seen is tantamount to a death sentence. And then Remo shows up, the darkest, most deranged of the Bellucci brothers, who’s been watching her from the shadows for three years. In other words, it’s the stalker trope taken to the extreme, bordering on the brazen. There’s a scene where the tension is so thick you could cut it with knife; that feeling of “I know I should run, but I can’t move” is conveyed in an astonishing way.
What hooked me the most was the way Holliday handles both characters’ past traumas. He doesn’t just use them to justify stupid decisions; they feel like real scars—the kind that hurt when the weather changes. The writing has a brisk pace, almost frenetic in some chapters, though I must admit that in the middle section the story slows down a bit to dwell a little too much on Remo’s pure obsession. Mind you, I’m not complaining about the spice or the intensity—there’s plenty of both—but at times I wanted things to move faster outside the four walls of their space.
Plus, the “touch me and you’ll die” vibe is cranked up to the max. Remo is morally as dark as they come, a true monster to the rest of the world, but the absolute devotion he feels for Hallie makes up for all the chaos.
Anyway, this isn’t a book for the faint of heart (be sure to check the content warnings carefully before diving in), but if you like dark romances where protection borders on visceral possession and the characters are truly broken, this book gets under your skin and won’t let go. I devoured it almost without blinking.
To Covet a Devil by Victoria Holiday was such an intense and emotionally gripping read! The chemistry between Hallie and Remo had me HOOKED. The tension, the lingering glances, the subtle touches, and all those little moments between them had me screaming internally. THE TENSION WAS TENSIONING, AND THE CHEMISTRY??? OMMMGGG. 😭🔥
One of my favourite things about this book was the dual POV. Getting a glimpse into both their perspectives made their connection even more compelling. Remo especially had me feeling things because there’s something about a man who carries so much intensity yet has those little moments of vulnerability that absolutely gets me. And Hallie? I loved how even the smallest interactions could leave her completely flustered. Their dynamic was everything!
And can we talk about the slow burn? BECAUSE IT WAS BURNING. The anticipation, the unspoken feelings, and the smallest gestures carrying so much meaning made me look forward to every interaction. Sometimes, a single glance was enough to make me kick my feet and scream into my pillow. 🫠
But this book wasn't just about chemistry and romantic tension. There was a heartbreaking moment I genuinely wasn't prepared for, and it caught me completely off guard. 💔 I won't say anything more because this is a spoiler-free review, but my heart was NOT ready.
I thoroughly enjoyed this reading experience.
If you love dark romance, dual POV, protective energy, emotional depth, and a slow burn that makes you lose your mind over the smallest things, definitely add this to your TBR! 🖤
I knew Remo was going to be unhinged, but I was NOT prepared for how completely obsessed this man would be with Hallie. He’s been watching her for three years, knows everything about her, and somehow manages to make stalking feel like the most romantic thing imaginable. 😂
And Hallie! I loved that she wasn’t some terrified innocent running from him. She knows someone is watching her, she feels safer because of it, and when she discovers exactly who her stalker is… let’s just say she doesn’t react the way a sensible woman probably should.
Their chemistry is insane, but what really got me was the emotional side of their relationship. They’re both carrying so much darkness from their families, and watching Hallie become the one person who quiets Remo’s mind was unexpectedly beautiful. He would literally bury bodies for this woman and I ate up EVERY SECOND.
Possessive mafia man ✔️ Stalker romance ✔️ Touch-her-and-die energy ✔️ Morally bankrupt hero ✔️ Heroine who matches his freak ✔️ “He’s terrifying to everyone except her” ✔️✔️✔️
Remo Bellucci, you absolute psychopath. Five stars. No notes. 🐺🖤
This is Book 2 of Bellucci Brothers series, as an interconnected standalone. I have not read Book 1 (yet), but I definitely look forward to reading it!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book - it very much exceeded my expectations, in the best ways possible!!!
I love the characters (minus some of her family - you can't control that & she did the best thing by leaving them). Hallie & Remo have great chemistry & I love the dynamics of their relationship. Remo definitely is doing some morally grey things to her.... but she's there for it!! I love how she just goes with the flow of everything! LOL
Just completed this gem and firstly I’d like to thank Ms. Victoria Holliday for the arc opportunity! I thoroughly enjoyed Remo and Hallie’s story. This was a page turner for me. Remo was so dangerously unhinged in his stalking tendencies that I was on edge for a good part of this story. They both have quite traumatic pasts they keep hidden which add to the suspense of whether or not it will make or break these two. I don’t want to give too much away until it’s released, but this was a 4 ⭐️for me because I’m an epilogue junkie and I live for them but there wasn’t one here. Either way, I still loved it and I love everything she’s written. I’ve added “unmoored” to my vocabulary 😂 iykyk!! And Lincoln Park is a neighboring community to my own, I love the reference. The Belucci Boys are something else, looking forward to the next book! 🌶️🌶️ 1/2
I was waiting for this one. My masked stalker fictional book boyfriend who's been following Hallie around for the past three years. Hallie knows she's being followed, but finds comfort in her hidden shadow boyfriend. Hallie is running from her past, having changed her entire identity and ran away from her family.
These two have been watching each other for three whole years, but belief the other could never love someone like them. As Reno finally blurs the line between watching and actually touching his obsession, their relationship and feelings for each other grow exponentially.
Reno will do anything for Hallie - touch her and die, total obsession, "mine". Hallie is the calm that finally quells the voices in Reno's head and keeps him rooted in sanity. These two are my new favorite mafia couple.
It’s a dark but addictive read in a super sexy, sizzling way.
I seriously could not put this book down and ended up reading well into the early hours of the morning because once started, I needed to find out the whole story as each page held me riveted and wanting more.
The silence, the tension gave me shivers down my spine and the heat, well WOW, once that started, there was no stopping them. Add in some drama and wonderful characters and it’s a hit.
I know it may not be for everyone, but I loved it! Thanks go to Victoria Holliday for a wonderful experience.
Highly recommended read!.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Seriously was ready for Remos story and it did not disappoint. Like all of the books by Victoria Holliday, I got sucked in immediately and couldn’t stop. We knew from the last book that his story would be heart wrenching and Hallie was perfect for him. It ended with a few surprises, one heartbreaking but the lead up to Brando’s book is very exciting! This is a stalker book, so be prepared for what that entails. Again was well written. I loved Remo and Hallie together. Definitely read but start with the first book as it helps with the setting.
VH has created a mafia family I simply cannot get enough of! Four brothers raised in brutal, abusive conditions, now running the city while dealing with their trauma in their own unconventional ways.
Remo is a stalker, Hallie is his prey, and somehow, their toxic dynamic just WORKS. Stalking Hallie brings Remo peace, while being stalked makes Hallie feel safe. Make it make sense!
These two are anything but conventional, but VH makes it work and delivers a dark mafia romance that has me completely obsessed!
And now I cannot WAIT for Brando’s book! Give me more of this family! 🔥
“Besides, if you pass out again but after I fuck you, I’m going to get a complex.” 🥴🙌🏾
The is was a masked mafia stalker romance that kept me turning the pages because of the push and pull between Halle & Remo! Some part were Jaw dropping and had me saying”mmmm okayyyy sir” while others had my like “WTF did I just read”!! Remo and his tactics honey whew!! Halle and her willingness to play with danger!
I never knew a dark stalker trope could do what it did to me while reading this book but it did🤭! Overall, I love the progression of the characters story and plot throughout the book.
OH MY GOD!! I am obsessed with Remo! I love him so so much I need him in my life! He is mysterious and when he only needs Hallie to calm him down. I am obsessed! The plot, the spice, and the stalker vibe, urgh I need more of them. I love how obsessed Remo is to Hallie. And Hallie didn't even know! He stalks till he drops. I love how Victoria describes Remo and I can definitely picture him in my head and he is HOT! I love everything about this book! I adore Hallie and she is so strong with how her past went. When Hallie found out who her stalker is? I want that scene to be permanent in my brain. I think this is one of my fav book by Victoria. 100% will read it again!
Hallie is running from her family due to dangerous circumstances, while Remo is part of an organized crime family and a club where Hallie works. 🖤 He is also dealing with his own personal issues.
I loved how strong and kind-hearted Hallie is. 🩷 It was heartbreaking to learn about Remo’s past, his struggles, and why he is the way he is.🖤
The angst, tension, and yearning is great! 🔥 The way they love each other! 🫠
It was heartbreaking yet heartwarming to see their emotional growth and how they find their way to each other.🥰❤️
Dark-ish mafia romance, with huge stalker vibes, a hidden identity, some sleep play. Very enjoyable read. Read book 1 in the series after getting this as my first ARC! Like the universe and the brothers and am excited to see where the last 2 brothers end up - based on the ending in this, I already have an idea for Brando but cannot wait to see how it unfolds!
Quote that almost took me out (in the best way): I'm pretty sure I just graduated from mild threat to clinically concerning and actively dangerous.
To Covet a Wolf by Victoria Holliday — 5 Stars The Belluci Brothers Series.
Remo’s story did not disappoint! As always, Victoria Holliday pulled me in from the start, and I couldn’t stop reading. We knew his story would be heartbreaking, and Hallie was perfect for him. I absolutely loved these two together!
This is a stalker romance, so be prepared for that! Hallie & Remo’s chemistry was on fire being that Hallie was the prey & Remo the stalker and he definitely knew what he was doing!!! A captivating story that I definitely consumed! A delicious read .
Thank you to Victoria Holliday for the ARC, which I truly appreciated. Like all of her books, once you start, you cannot stop—you just have to keep going. I simply couldn’t put it down!
This is the second book in The Belluci Brothers series. I was completely looking forward to Remo’s story and enjoyed it so much. I loved the way he stalked Hallie—it was so completely gripping! The drama and the characters were absolutely captivating.
Hallie runs from her crazy brother and finds refuge with the Bellucci’s in New York. Remo due to mental issues from his crazy ass father likes to stalk women for protection. Meeting Hallie who talked her way into a job at their club she becomes his new obsession and he actually becomes her. She enjoys his stalking because he makes her feel safe. Once she knows who it actually is they are both all in and it’s a crazy ride.
Loved reading the fabulous and fantastic story. When Hallie testifies against her brother and gets kicked out of her family, she runs to the Bellucci’s,, gets a job, has a crush on Remo, and has a stalker who makes her feel safe. Read the highly recommended and a must read riveting story full of romance and intrigue.
Dark, obsessive and completely addictive. Remo has been watching Hallie for years, but she’s just as obsessed with him as he is with her. Their chemistry is feral, their relationship is deliciously twisted, and underneath all the stalking and mafia madness, they’re weirdly perfect for each other.
Remo Bellucci has officially ruined other stalker heroes for me.
UGH. My hearttttttt. What a soul Remo is and my poor girl Hallie…. I was rooting for them the entire time. I love my psycho Bellucci Brothers! and the ENDING!! Every time I finish a Victoria Holliday book, it gets me even more anxious for the next one. I just want to see all of these boys in love and healing 🥺
Did I expect to cry? No. No i didn't. But this series is amazing and.who don't love a stalker MMC that's also in a mafia world! Hallie and Remo are absolutely perfect for eachother. I loved their story and how they came to be a couple. I didn't want to leave them but I am excited for what's next
Victoria has done it again!! I could not put this book down! I wanted to hate Remo, but just as quickly fell in love with his character. Not the ending I expected, and such a great lead-in to the next book. 10 out of 10 Highly Recommend!
WOW Remo and Hallie have it bad, both crazy attracted to I each other. So much so Remo stalks her for years. When things do come to a head with them everything becomes crazy! A really fun ride love both of these characters so much!
This was the fastest I’ve read a book all year!! I absolutely loved and devoured To Covet a Wolf. It was balanced perfectly between plot, character development and spice. It’s left me incredibly excited for the next book in the series🤩
This was my first book by this author and it has a lot of potential. I loved the MMC and FMC. They had mystery and angst. I feel like I should have read book 1 to get to know more of Remo’s past to maybe understand a bit more, so that on me completely. Otherwise there was a little too much of in between. A little too much of what I call filler. Some words didn’t make much sense. I knew what the author MEANT by what word they used, but it seemed to be used incorrectly. I can get past that. I’m not too picky. The end felt rushed to me. I feel like there could have been less filler through the rest of the book and more to the confrontation and the aftermath. It was interesting. The plot was there just needed a little oomph. The spice was on point. I have a few advanced copies of books recently that I couldn’t get through. This one I could and I actually wanted to know what happens. I wanted to know the conclusion to it all. And I loved Remo.
There are not enough stars to rate this book honestly! WOW! I had to turn the AC down to 68°! If you weren't already madly in love with the Bellucci bros, you will be after this read. I loved the references back to the characters and storyline of "To Desire a Devil" that gave a seamless jump into the lives of Remo & Hallie. What a jump it was! The whole dynamic of these two exploded off of the page. Now, I'm even more excited about the next book!
Thank you to Victoria Holliday for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley and Book Funnel. All opinions are my own.
Book two in the series and it was a definite page turner. It follows Hallie and Remo in this book. Hallie is on the run from her past and finds the Bellucci brothers hoping for some protection. Remo is unhinged and has a 'stalking' tendency. We get to see his past and why he is the way he is. The book flowed well, and the ending was good, giving a path for the next book in the series.
