Lucas Vale is a half-alpha wolf shifter and an MMA fighter. His two younger brothers are also fighters and teach self defense to shifters in their family's dojo. An invitation comes for his youngest brother Asher, who is the only full alpha out of the three brothers, to attend an alpha tournament. The winner of the tournament wins an alpha female, which are very rare. Lucas looks at the picture of the "prize" and is shocked to see it's Lily, the woman he loved, his mate, who disappeared out of his life 7 years ago. Lucas goes to the tournament as Asher to get closure from the woman who broke his heart and instead, he finds hope that maybe all isn't what it seemed and that Lily didn't leave him by choice. Lily is disgusted but resigned to the idea of being a prize in the tournament, she knows that if she runs, it'll be her younger sister that has to take her place. She's already given up the love of her life to protect her sister but imagine her surprise when she comes face to face with Lucas at the ball before the start of the tournament. The Sparks that have always been between them flares to even greater heights when Lucas decides to stay and fight, literally, for the woman he has always loved. The danger is intense, if anyone finds out Lucas isn't who he says he is, he'll be kicked out of the tournament and will loose Lily forever. Even if no one finds out, he has to fight full alpha wolves with alpha powers when he is only half alpha with no powers, he could be killed. I liked how this is a standalone but still connected to the alpha world, we've met Asher before in another book and we get a small glimpse of Matt and Thor (from Alpha Defender), who, at Asher's request, come to give Lucas so insider information on the other fighters. I can't wait to read the other two Vale brothers stories, keep them coming.

And Lucas is a Champion: Thinking he has lost his true love years earlier he has focused on his career. Fate rears her head for a last chance to say good bye and ask why she gave up on them.

Lilly had her reasons and those same reasons put her in the position the let her greedy, power hungry father fall back on old pack laws. She is past the age of picking her own mate now ... well read to find out just what she has to endure.

Can they have their second chance? There are loads trying to keep apart. But then strong family support and belief can overcome a lot, especially if a fated mate is the reward.

One of the things I like about the authors books is the surprise factor: light hearted fun read or serious issues and struggles needed to win. This is the latter. Another pleasure for me is revisiting old friends from previous books--she doesn't disappoint. I'm looking forward to Lucas' brothers finding or probably battling not to find their own mates.

I wasn't a huge fan of Lilah. Her character wasn't developed very well and what development there was, was frustrating. The story was too rushed.

2.5 stars: cute enough quick read but others have done it better.
I liked the writing better than my last read overall but everything was so underdeveloped. The couple were nice together but why? Who knows it's been years since they saw each other, teens at the time. The reader is never treated to any scenes of their past. There's pretty much no world building so who knows if fated mates can be used to explain it.

I know the second part was not a complete book, because I read the original book. I did see your foot note explaining why it was different.
Although, when I by a book I would rather read the whole thing , even if I read it once.

Yep! You got it. Another contest for a rare Alpha female. Only this time they are actually going to fight. Some nicely done choreography, I think. It sounded good anyway. Nice action to go with the romance. I liked this story.

I haven’t read a Terry Bolryder for a while and I have missed her books. They do exactly what they promise short but sweet hot shifter stories. These happen to be hot shifter MMA fighters what’s not to love? So you get a short bit enjoyable book about all kinds of shifters!

I enjoyed the story. Lucas was awesome, Lily was not what I'd expect from an Alpha female, but in the end she finally fought for what she wanted. it was fast paced, with a little angst.

A well written story about family, protection and love.

Lucas takes a break from his duties in the MMA field to visit the family Dojo. The visit brings back painful memories of his teenage love Lily who disappeared 7 years ago without an explanation. Lily's dad hated him because he was only half-blood alpha - Imagine Prejudices in the Shifter World. Since Lily is a full-blood alpha female which is rare among shifters-per dad she has to mate a full-blood alpha. Lucas and middle brother Jordan's mom was not an alpha female-hence half-blood males-when she passed-their alpha dad married an alpha female-and had the youngest brother Asher-full-blood alpha. Lily is back now-and her dad has a scheme-to hold a caged fighting tournament for full-blood alphas ONLY to compete for Lily-the winner claiming her as a mate. Lilly is furious- Her cruel dad can only think about the prospects of his oldest daughter being mated to an full-blood alpha. All she can think about is that she and Lucas were supposed to runaway together 7 years ago but couldn't because she had to protect her younger sister from not so dear old dad. Her Lucas with his gorgeous green eyes and raven black hair is always in her dreams.

Asher received an invite to this savage tournament and tells Lucas he should compete under his name. Besides being fearless, Lucas is a well trained MMA fighter, built like the rock of Gibraltar, with a determined will to win his mate. The only downside to fighting full-blood alphas is that they have special powers which he has none. The fight scenes are wicked where the lovemaking will warm your heart.

CAN THE HALF-BLOOD ALPHA TRIUMPH OVER FULL-BLOOD ALPHAS TO SAVE HIS MATE AND HER SISTER?????

I enjoyed reading this and do recommend to other readers. I look forward to reading Jordan's story. {I received an ARC for an honest review}.

He looked incredible.

She sighed happily, which was probably the most bliss-inducing thing he’d ever heard. All he had was Lily. All he wanted was Lily. WHEW!! What I wouldn't give to have my own Lucas!! Once again Terry has held me so entranced that I read this book from start to finish all in one go! I am so intrigued with Terry's shifter books! They are shifter books, but so far in all of her books that I have read, the focus is on a great storyline that leads the couple to their HEA and they just happen to be more than 'mere' human(s). I enjoyed this book so much! I can't wait to read the next books because I am pretty sure there will be at least 2 more books that will each spotlight a brother & their own path towards a HEA with their mate. Let's hope that is true! I really love Terry's writing style and of course her choice of subjects. Her stories have a great flow to them and have the perfect blend of romance, hotness, some manner of conflict and/or intrigue, hot sex all with a great creativity to them that leads them to stand above a lot of other shifter books out there. Terry has this beautiful way or knack, of using her remarkable gift for storytelling that enables & enhances everything to such a point that you become so immersed into the story, that you forget that it is in fact a story! Well up until the end, of course! She takes everything and beautifully blends it all together to create a story that is deep, rich, enjoyable and is the perfect length. I never thought I would say that since I am always hoping for more story so I don't have to say good-bye to my new friends, but Terry writes her stories as almost a snapshot of the time from when the couple meet to when they claim each other or accept the mate bond. Almost a Shifter Fairy Tale or is that Tail?!

Seven years ago Lucas and Lily were ripped apart by her overbearing alpha purist father. He looks at Lily as his meal ticket to moving up as alpha females have become even more rare. But now her dad has played the ultimate power trip and is hosting an alpha challenge were all the pure alpha males from the best families will fight in the cage for the grand prize, Lily.

Lucas is strong, sexy and has come into his own after years of being in the MMA circuit. Lucas has never forgotten or stopped loving Lily, he knows she is his mate. When he happens to come home for a visit he finds out about the challenge for mating Lily and can't believe it she really wants this and has to see her to know for sure! Being only half alpha and not full blooded means he can't just walk right on in, or can he? His brother Asher was invited and hoping the resemblance can carry him enters to protect and fight for what he knows is his.

Lily has sacrificed her heart, freedom and her mate at the hands of controlling father. But this has been more than she even thought he would do. After seeing Lucas she knows that she still loves him and he is her mate. But she begins to have doubts when looking at the overwhelming odds against them. And she still has to tell Lucas what made he leave before and why she has stayed away.

I love how Terry brought other characters like the twins and I can not wait to read Asher and Jordan's stories.

So, this is a bit of a twist from Alpha Contender. Except in regards to Asher's brothers Lucas and Jordan. We even see a brief cameo with Matt/Lacey and Thor. So, Lily and Lucas were in love as teenagers and wanted to be together because they thought themselves mates. However, Lucas being half and not full blooded alpha her father kept them apart. Both were hurt and Lucas never knew why. I really felt bad for him not knowing anything. So, now theres the dreaded tournament that Lily will be the prize which she hates. There's a good reason she left Lucas years ago and why she's wanting him to go and move on now. However, I wanna spank her myself because she should know Lucas would figure a way to save both her and Laurel her sister. It irks me a little how she had no real faith in him for awhile. She's so wanting to play the martyr in a way that she doesnt want him involved or hurt. Her feelings come from a good place but she really needed to open up to Lucas and allow him to help. Anyways, this is their journey to fight for each other and it was a good story. Look forward to reading about his brothers.

I received an eARC in exchange for an honest review. This story is about Lucas and Laurel they knew each other as teenagers they both knew that they were each other's fated mate. Laurel's father is a purist and didn't want his daughter mating with anything but a full Alpha.

Lucas is a half Alpha and an MMA fighter and even after seven years he still misses Laurel. Laurel's father is determined to climb up the ladder in politics and is offerinh and even after seven years he still misses Laurel.

Laurel's father is determined to make sure Laurel mates with a member of the Tribinal in a Alpha tournament where winner gets to be Laurels mate.

This book is action-packed from the beginning to the end and it is an absolute must read. I highly recommend this book this series and this author everyone. I know you'll enjoy it as much as I did. Be sure to pick up a copy you will be very glad that you did.

Who says you have to have full alpha blood running through your veins to fight for your mate?

Lucas Vale has returned home to discover the one woman he loved, who believed was his mate is now the prize in a tournament for full-alphas. He's determined to win the fight to claim his mate, and he'll do everything in his power to. He's not some puny lovesick teen, he's a champion fighter!

Lily Mason has been dealing with her father's controlling ways all her life. But now putting her up as a prize for the tournament is just going to far. But what's an alpha female to do when she's protecting her sister from having to deal with the same fate. But Lucas is back and he's determined to prove he can be her alpha.

Great story! I love routing for the underdog =)
However, I will say Lily was a bit too naive for me. I mean really you couldn't see that you were being set up at some points from a mile away? She was just really dumb at some points in the story I wanted to smack some sense in her.

Alpha Champion..Wolf Protectors book 1 By Terry Bolryder

Are you willing to fight for the love of your life against horrible odds...that's what he does best and gets answers to the past from the mate that disappeared. I enjoyed reading how it all works out for this couple. Lily was protective,sweet and deserving of an HEA with her mate who never gives up on them being together again. The supporting characters of family members spices up the story and hopefully we'll hear more about them with their own special place in this series. I'm recommending that you check it out for yourself.

This was a great book. Great writing and a great story. I loved the tension and chemistry between the couple, Lily and Lucas.The way she had to push him away to protect her sister and the way he came back even after years of being pushed away to fight for her. It's one of those good summer reads, not that complicated with a nice mix of tension and anticipation. Although the way Lily's father treats her and the way the other alpha males treat alpha females are appalling. It's nice to see a wolf "prince" to come and rescue his "princess." It just goes to prove that even if you are a half alpha, you are still just as strong as the full alphas. Nothing can conquer love.

I love this, fighting for your mate is hot.

Can seven years apart take away the need to be together? Not if you are true mates.
Does being not being a full alpha make you unworthy for being with your true mate?
Not if you are Lucas Vale.
Can a man who is not a full alpha really win against full alphas with alphas powers?
You will have to read to find out. I love this and can't wait to start reading about the other Vale brothers.

Am really liking this author's shifter books

Terry Bolryder is fast becoming one of my favorites in this genre. Her books are always well thought out and written. She pays close attention to even the smallest details. As always I find the proof reading to be well done, that's for that, which sometimes drives me crazy.

If you look for a shifter romance look elsewhere! There is absolutely NO shifting in here - my pet peeve in its purest form. What was also pretty annoying was the way the dialogues were written: a total overdo of he said /she said with some quite cheesy elements thrown in.
If you are looking for some spoken background noise that you won't really listen to go ahead and "read" it.

This book was pretty meh. Didn't feel like a shifter book. More like a Mortal Kombat type thing. Not much character development, but from what I read I liked Jordan better than all the brothers. I guess the bad boy thing always gets me. Lucas was okay, Lily, meh. She needs to learn to communicate more. But at least they got a happy ending.

First time reading this author. This was a quick story,good writing, full alpha female being auctioned off to a full blooded alpha male.Only problem is she is being forced into it to keep her sister safe. Lucas, not a full blooded alpha has loved Lily for years but her family doesn't want them mated.
