ARC received for review
Thorn and Lexi, another great couple in this series, and yet again their relationship, her past everything is different from the previous couple. Lots of interaction for the other Kings.
As much as I liked Rhi in the Reapers series, I'm really not liking her in this one. I wish there was a list of how to read the series as they intertwined with each other.

Vacation with your friends should be an experience filled with fun memories. Lexi’s trip abroad turns in to everything except for that. Just a few days before they are to leave for their return to South Carolina Lexi watches her best friend get murdered by a man with red eyes. After realizing that the police are not interested and the death toll is escalating Lexi decides to stay in Edinburgh to find the Red Eye monster all on her own. The one thing Lexi doesn’t realize is that she has jumped in to a war that has been battled longer than time itself.
From the moment Thorn and Darius notice Lexi following the Dark they realize it is not the normal enthrallment that keeps her following them. Thorn notices her vow of vengeance for what it is foolishness that will put the human in the center of beings that she doesn’t even realize exist. Thorn’s oath to protect humans pushes him to follow her and guard her. It’s the attraction that keeps him near her when he knows he needs to be on the streets slaying the Dark that appear to be taking over the human world.
The Dark have really upped their game here in Passion Ignites. I have to admit I’m not the only one who completely missed what they were really doing in Edinburgh. They are determined to bring the Dragon Kings down any way possible. As with all of Donna Grant’s books she gives her readers a small glimpse of what her past couples are up to, teases us with new characters and beings, and she inserted a huge something new here for her fans to impatiently wait for more of. As always I loved how a few of her characters are walking a fine line between good and evil and questionable actions. Lexi and Thorn make for a sexy couple that kept the balance of action and romance moving.

4 burning and kingly stars for Donna Grant's Passion Ignites. I've been reading Donna Grant for some time now and have to say I really enjoyed this book. Thorn and Lexi were pretty good characters alone and were even better together. I couldn't remember Thorn from the previous novels which might be because he wasn't a major player in them but I loved him in this novel.
As with all the Dark Kings books, the major plot involves the Dark Fey, the traitor king, and the specific king in question falling in love. What I found I liked in this book is my thoughts on Con's love life were solidified and, of course, Thorn. Thorn is well aware of his fellow kings coming into contact with human women and marking them as their mates. He doesn't want that, ever. He wants to take care of the Dark Fey and that is all.
Lexi watched one of her best friends get killed. At the time Lexi didn't know her best friend's killers were actually evil Faeries. She's determined to find the killers and bring them to justice which places her on Thorn's radar and into unimaginable peril. She's a loyal and passionate women while also being tender and independent.
Thorn and Lexi can't help their attraction or the fact that deeper feelings develop. There's a learning curve for both of them since Thorn's experience with human beings is extremely limited and Lexi's never even considered the possibility of "other beings" such as Thorn. When there's only one way to protect Lexi Thorn makes a decision that hurts him more than he'd care to admit. There's arguments, adjusting, great sex, and the coming together of two beings that were destined to happen.

Grieving over her friend’s unexpected murder, Lexi is determined to find her killer. However, the Dark have lured her into their embraces and when Thorn spots the curious woman, he knows that she is in immediate danger. Unfortunately, Lexi trusts no one. Not even the handsome warrior who seems to know more about what’s going than she does.
I’ve been a fan of this series for some time now. However, the beginning of this book felt a little choppy to me. It begins after Lexi’s friends die and her other friends are leaving to return home. Lexi opts to stay and find the killer on her own. Because of this initial set up, I did feel one step behind it all. I can’t remember in the previous book of something happened there to set up this one but I definitely felt one foot behind Lexi in this one.
Moreover, when Thorn appears, trying to save her life from the Dark, in one glance he is able to tell that she has retribution on her mind. Why else would a woman risk her life like that? Again, this seemed like a great jump in logic, especially when they’ve barely said any words to each other. And what ones they have, they weren’t friendly to begin with. So I was a little concerned with the way Grant skimmed over these details. She is usually very patient and thorough but I feel like the natural flow to her words this time was missing.
While not my favorite in the series, there is still plenty of action and progress in terms of plot. Some exciting things occur and I am looking forward to see what Grant delivers next.

Fluttering Thoughts:
Worldbuilding: The awesome world of the Dragon Kings, with all its magic and fab scenery, meets Edinburgh, and I loved every setting of it!
Characters: Lexi was a charmingly stubborn and gutsy heroine to read about. I loved her attitude, her strengths, her vulnerabilities, her approach to things. We just clicked and I loved her pretty much from page 1.
Thorn was nothing short of smexacular, all hot and broody and knight in shining armor, alpha male deliciousness, brave yet a bit scared when it came to feelings…and I loved the dude xD
They had great chemistry and were a charismatic couple, and their one on one time was really hot too, though not overly played upon, I’ll say. The perv in me could have gone for soooo much more, lol!
I gotta say I particularly love lots of characters in these novels, and I’m dying to find out all these things about Rhis and Con and…sigh. I need the next novel, like right now, lol!
Plot: The romance arc was full of delicious tension and it made for exciting reading. The action outside of the romance was pretty cool too, you can always count on a good bunch of fights to take place, magic, dark forces and evil plans…awesomesauce stuff, in short. Very entertaining and exciting.
Writing: Third person, past tense narrative, his/her POV – mostly Lexi/Thorn, but with a some from a few other characters’ perspective as well. I love the style, exciting and fast and fun!
Curb Appeal: Hot cover, hooking blurb, and right now for sure auto-buy author name when it comes to my dragon-romance needs xD
I totally recommend Passion Ignites to lovers of dragon PNR, and also to fans of paranormal action and kickass confrontation, scheming and plotting and complex conflicts, because this series has it all: dragons, magic, fae (light and dark!), hot romance, exciting action…big, big like!

Passion Ignites surprised me a lot. Why? Well... because
(1) I was invited by the publisher over at NetGalley to read this and I immediately liked the synopsis, hit the button to accept the invite... then I looked it up on Goodreads and found out it was the seventh in a series. I thought to myself: "Fabulous, just my luck. Once again I'm stuck reading a book that I won't understand. I should really start to check that little detail before accepting." But you know what? I was totally able to understand the main story (not so much the background story with Rhi, but whatever) and I'm so glad about that.
(2) this book totally reminds me of the early books of Katie McAlister's Dark Ones series - in a good way! - not regarding the story, because those are totally different, but regarding the feelings I had while reading this. I was entertained by the cast and the story. What more do I want?
(3) I really liked Thorn and Lexi. Lexi for trying to find justice *cough* vengeance *cough* for her friend and Thorn for trying to keep Lexi out of things. He even gave her up for her sake.
While I liked the book in general and will definitely start reading the series - from the beginning ;) - there were some teeny tiny things I didn't like that much.
One point I already did mention and that was that I didn't really understand the background story with Rhi and all those other characters. But that's more my fault and not the books, so I won't pay attention to that in my rating.
The point that did take a part in my rating though, was the fact that the ending felt totally rushed. I just felt like the story was still in the middle of everything, but the author was running out of pages, so she had to wrap things up fast. Maybe that's only how it appeared to me though.

It is another Dragon King being wasted because he mated with human.
Why I said that?
I just got tired reading the same thing over and over again in a couple of previous books and also this book that a human heroine got into trouble she's helpless because she's no supernatural that she needed a knight in shining armour to save her or in this case a dragon and then yay another battle is over, I love yous lets mated. Boring, okay?
Alas, regardless of the aforementioned, I took interest only to these important characters; Constantine, Ulrik, Balladyn, and Rhi. Reading their scenes are way fulfilling than reading the main characters of this book.
Main characters: Thorn (Dragon King of Claret) + Lexi (human)

Wow talk about a ton of action!! I love when my warriors make an appearance in the Dark King books! Thorn has stolen my heart. I love he only has a soft spot for Lexi. Rhi broke my heart in this book. 🖤

As the bad boy of the Dragon Kings his passions run wild and his fury knows no bounds especially when Thorn rescues Lexi from the Dark and exposes himself to his fiercest enemy and his darkest desires in this spectacular paranormal romance.
On a mission of justice, Lexi is heading right into the trap of a Dark Fae and the reader can’t help but get pulled into the exhilarating events as Thorn sweeps and rescues Lexi from the Dark’s evil clutches. The chemistry is scorching but the relationship is hampered by the vengeance that Lexi seeks and Thorns determination to send her away and these strong, charismatic characters command the reader’s attention right from the start and the emotional turmoil that they face captures the heart while the fast paced, smooth flowing plot thrills readers with lots of suspense, excitement and romance.
Pulse-pounding, adrenaline pumping action keeps readers on their toes throughout this story as the Dark Fae have upped their war efforts and instigated chaos with quite a few tricks up their sleeves as they make a very strategic move that places everyone in jeopardy. The well-written scenes and details make it easy for the reader to picture each of these exciting events which guarantees there is never a dull moment to be found. If that’s not enough excitement… then maybe all the additional characters that have joined the war efforts and all of the happenings surrounding Ulrik, Rhi and the Light Fae will spice it up enough.
I was completely blown away by Lexi and Thorn’s story, it starts off with high tension suspense and just gets better and better with non-stop action and as for the turn the war has taken… well, I think things are going to be quite rocky from here on out and then there are new intriguing characters for me to want to know all about – I am so glad that Donna Grant has so many plans for the Dark World.

I had a really hard time getting into this book and kept putting it aside. Good premise and well-written but I just didn't like the characters as much as I had hoped. There was plenty of heat and I normally enjoy this author. I guess we all have times where a book didn't meet our expectations and this was one for me.

Darius makes a comment in this book about how humans no longer look up. I would definitely have to agree with him too...and that's sad. Except, I am ALWAYS looking up. Granted, I've never looked to the skies in hopes of seeing a dragon. But perhaps I should be. How I would love to have my own Dragon King!
Thorn turned out to not quite be what I was expecting of him from what we got in the last book. I think I thought he would be slightly more of a playful kind of guy. And he's not really. But that's not saying I didn't like him. After something long in his past happened, he's reluctant to let anyone get close. He fears failing to protect those he promises to keep safe. So when he comes across Lexi, he's constantly fighting himself over her.
I did like Lexi. While she initially was doing something ridiculously stupid in the beginning, she just seemed like such a down to Earth and easy to relate to person. Aside from following Dark Fae around, she didn't really do anything stupid or crazy. And I liked that.
While on a trip with her friends to the UK, Lexi ends up losing one. Having found the body of her friend, Lexi vows revenge on the guy who killed her. After all, Lexi is the only one who knows what he looks like. The police are pretty much useless so she takes it upon herself to go out following those she sees with red eyes figuring that eventually she will find the killer and get her revenge. What she doesn't know is that not only do the Dark know that she's following them, but that the Dragon Kings are also following them and she's come to their attention as well.
Thorn can't help but be drawn to Lexi as he watches her. Their first, second and third meetings could have gone better though as she stabs him each time. After saving her from a Dark ambush, more than once, Thorn ends up taking care of her when she literally keels over in front of him. Days later, when she finally wakes up, Thorn explains as much about the Dark Fae as he can with no intention of letting her know what he is. But she's determined for sure and ends up getting more than she bargained for. Thorn kinda panics at one point and Darius thinks it's okay to fill Lexi in on all sorts of things because they're going to have guy erase her memories before sending her back home to the states. Which would have gone off without a hitch if she hadn't stopped at the bar before boarding. She was quite the surprise waiting for Thorn.
Darius and Thorn are not having much luck ridding the city of the Dark. So the Warriors and Druids come to help. Lexi feels incredibly useless because all she can do for all these fighters is cook for them. But soon enough the Dark take notice of things and come for her. Things go from bad, to could be okay, to real bad quick after that for her. With Lexi captured there is no stopping Thorn from rescuing her. Rhi is back to help the Kings and they do manage to find her. But it's barely a victory with all the damage those who went took.
We end with the bonding ceremony for four of the Kings. Con has taken a shine to Lexi despite not wanting too and that was pretty nice to see.
We may end on a happy note, but things are far from good for our Kings. What Con has worked so hard for for so many centuries is now gone. It's really really bad and I can only imagine what the fallout over this is going to be for them. Plus, they still have no idea that Ulrik's uncle is the one responsible for pretty much all the hell they're going thru, so they just keep heaping the blame on Ulrik.
As I mentioned, Rhi is back but she is still far from her old self. She probably won't be for a very long time if ever. She goes where she pleases and sees who she wants, but it does say a lot about her that she still chooses to fight along with the Kings against the Dark without giving it a second thought. She is also being followed, and she knows it but she has no idea who it is.
We as readers do. Before getting to the end, with the mentioning of the Reapers throughout the story, I was getting super excited about the author's new series being linked to this one. Now I have very little doubt it will be. And I can't wait for that.
The way this book ended with Darius seemed a bit...odd maybe? Perhaps when we get his book next it will make more sense why what happened did, but as it was it just seemed a little out of place and random to me. *shrug* Still, I'm looking forward to it.

Thorn turned out to not quite be what I was expecting of him from what we got in the last book. I think I thought he would be slightly more of a playful kind of guy. And he's not really. But that's not saying I didn't like him. After something long in his past happened, he's reluctant to let anyone get close. He fears failing to protect those he promises to keep safe. So when he comes across Lexi, he's constantly fighting himself over her.
I did like Lexi. While she initially was doing something ridiculously stupid in the beginning, she just seemed like such a down to Earth and easy to relate to person. Aside from following Dark Fae around, she didn't really do anything stupid or crazy. And I liked that.
While on a trip with her friends to the UK, Lexi ends up losing one. Having found the body of her friend, Lexi vows revenge on the guy who killed her. After all, Lexi is the only one who knows what he looks like. The police are pretty much useless so she takes it upon herself to go out following those she sees with red eyes figuring that eventually she will find the killer and get her revenge. What she doesn't know is that not only do the Dark know that she's following them, but that the Dragon Kings are also following them and she's come to their attention as well.
Thorn can't help but be drawn to Lexi as he watches her. Their first, second and third meetings could have gone better though as she stabs him each time. After saving her from a Dark ambush, more than once, Thorn ends up taking care of her when she literally keels over in front of him. Days later, when she finally wakes up, Thorn explains as much about the Dark Fae as he can with no intention of letting her know what he is. But she's determined for sure and ends up getting more than she bargained for. Thorn kinda panics at one point and Darius thinks it's okay to fill Lexi in on all sorts of things because they're going to have guy erase her memories before sending her back home to the states. Which would have gone off without a hitch if she hadn't stopped at the bar before boarding. She was quite the surprise waiting for Thorn.
Darius and Thorn are not having much luck ridding the city of the Dark. So the Warriors and Druids come to help. Lexi feels incredibly useless because all she can do for all these fighters is cook for them. But soon enough the Dark take notice of things and come for her. Things go from bad, to could be okay, to real bad quick after that for her. With Lexi captured there is no stopping Thorn from rescuing her. Rhi is back to help the Kings and they do manage to find her. But it's barely a victory with all the damage those who went took.
We end with the bonding ceremony for four of the Kings. Con has taken a shine to Lexi despite not wanting too and that was pretty nice to see.
We may end on a happy note, but things are far from good for our Kings. What Con has worked so hard for for so many centuries is now gone. It's really really bad and I can only imagine what the fallout over this is going to be for them. Plus, they still have no idea that Ulrik's uncle is the one responsible for pretty much all the hell they're going thru, so they just keep heaping the blame on Ulrik.
As I mentioned, Rhi is back but she is still far from her old self. She probably won't be for a very long time if ever. She goes where she pleases and sees who she wants, but it does say a lot about her that she still chooses to fight along with the Kings against the Dark without giving it a second thought. She is also being followed, and she knows it but she has no idea who it is.

It's really only fair that Thorn's book was next. He gives poor Warrick such a hard time about Darcy that it was nice to see him get brought to his knees over a women. And his story...I wanted to know why Thorn didn't want any relationships. Turns out to be a very good reason. I definitely get why he felt that way.
Lexi can resist the dark Fae. I still wonder about that. Does that happen because she's a Kings mate or is she a mate because she can? So many questions still plague me about this series...and I'm just so addicted to finding out so I keep reading. But I digress. Lexi is looking for the dark that killed her friend. And she's following them to find him. She couldn't be in more danger. Thorn can't help but try to help her. I so love that protective alpha side of all the kings.
The Fae war is heating up and it's anyone's guess as to their end game. Yeah, should have given that some more thought. They caught me and the kings off guard. I do love it when the author can still surprise me at this point in a series.

Passion Ignites is the seventh full length novel in Donna Grant's Dark Kings series. Featuring Dragon King, Thorn, and his vengeful vixen, Lexi. This story has all the trademark fight, fervour, and frustration that it has become known for.
With leading lady Lexi making a strong showing in the department of badassery. As she embarks on a one woman quest to find the Dark Fae responsible for the murder of her friend. A quest which lands her right in the middle of the on going battle between the Dark Fae and the Dragon Kings. A quest which puts her heart and soul, on a direct path to Thorn.

Lexi’s best friend was killed by a Dark Fae and now she is on a mission to find said fae to avenge her friend. She quickly realizes there is more to these Red Eyes, as she calls them, than she thinks. She runs into trouble with them and is rescued by Thorn and Darius. Thorn and Lexi instantly connect. Thorn knows there could be more there but doesn’t want her in danger.
Thorn and Lexi were a good couple. I really liked Lexi because she actively fought the Dark and was a strong character. I like that she got her revenge too. Thorn just wanted Lexi to be safe and tried to give up his chance of happiness for that. I can’t wait to see what will happen next with the Reapers, Rhi, and Darius.

This is not a stand alone... part 7 of an on-going series!
In this installment, we have yet another Dragon King fall into the mating trap... yep, this time it's Thorn and he falls hard for the determined and spirited American southern gal Lexi. Lexi is out for revenge and Thorn has stepped in to make sure her need for revenge doesn't end up getting her killed. What follows is an undeniable passion between the two while at the same time the Kings are in neck deep with the beginning of a war with the Dark Fae. It is a fight to see who will control the human realm. The humans are unknowingly caught between a delicate balance of peace and safety under the rule of the Kings, or their demise at the hands of the dark Fae.
This was a really great installment, the action has stepped up a notch and hopefully we will be moving soon into a grand finale. I've made it no secret that my favorite character in this series is Rhi, the light fae. I love the direction the author is going with Balladyn and Rhi which is why this installment truly struck a chord with me. Balladyn is one of those characters that has me bouncing back and forth between love and hate, but right now I'm leaning more towards a growing love for him as we learn of his conflicting emotions towards Rhi. I have my own predictions of how this story will play out for them and if my predictions are true I will be really, really happy with the outcome.
As much as I've been enjoying this series, I am ready for it to be drawn to a close. It's time for all of the kings and their allies to come together and put an end to the impending takeover by the Dark Fae, as well as coming to a resolution for the growing angst between Con and the banished dragon king Ulrik.
I was worried that I was losing interest in this series all together since the last two installments didn't resonate with me as much as the beginning books. But, this installment changed my mind. I like that it seems like all of the pieces of the puzzle are finally starting to come together. And, I have to absolutely know what is going to happen to Rhi. This story ended in such a way that definitely has my curiosity peeked. So, yep, I'll be sticking around for more.
Great series for the lover of dragons!

3.5 stars= pretty good. I've been curious about Grant's Dragon Kings series for a long time - since each book is released as a four part serial it seems like there is always a new book coming out, which is somewhat appealing. So, coming into this series for the first time I knew that I was many books behind but I didn't really clue into how many. This is book seven and it is clear that there is a lot of history that a fan of the series would have brought with them. Author Grant does throw in bits and pieces to establish her world for new readers, but really there were multiple threads which look to span multiple books and tons of cameos for what seem to be past pairs so I never actually felt 'caught up'.
The main paring of Dragon Shifter Darius - who works to rid the world of dark fae who prey on human woman - and Lex - who has lost a friend to the fae and puts herself in danger while seeking revenge - feels very familiar to a long time paranormal romance reader. I started reading this with only part one in hand and I wasn't actually 'grabbed' enough by them to be inspired to continue on to part 2. But then the secondary thread at the end of that part kicked in with Ulrik - another dragon shifter who is apparently on the outs with the main group. His piece of the story was short but his piece is what made me want to read on to find out what happens next and to go back to earlier books to find the rest of his backstory. Continuing on with all the rest of the parts in a single book, I still found the main pair far less interesting than all the bits and pieces of the continuing plot and I am especially intrigued by the parts of the story where Rhi appears, she's powerful, a catalyst for much of the action and has a tormented past and walks the edge of darkness - I really want to know more of what happens to her.
As a series newbie, I found all the previous pairs appearances confusing, there were so many that I never did get a sense of who's who, but fans will likely by happy to get another glimpse of their favorites - especially near the end.
So all in all, discounting the parts that didn't click for me simply because I chose to jump in at book seven, I thought this was pretty good. The romance was by the numbers, but all the other threads meant to draw the reader into the next books did their job.

What a journey!!! Now that i've read the whole story not in parts i have to say that
it was an enjoyable story with her pros and cons.
Let's talk about the book, Passion ignites is a fantasy-romance story,Thorn is the bad boy of the Dragon Kings,
a strong warrior who hunts dark Fae and protects humans. One day he sees Lexi being lured into the Dark Fae's trap,
he has no choice but to rescue her from them. Lexi was out on the hunt for avenging her friend's murder, then she
meets Thorn who tries to protect her from been killed because the one she afters is a very dangerous Dark Fae.
Thorn is a brave, strong, gorgeous warrior with an alpha personality and a hidden
soft side (particularly showing it to Lexi). Lexi is a stubborn woman with strong and brave personality
who defies the danger against immortal creatures even though she is human.
The good parts in this book are the action, the mystery, the secondary characters and Thorn's and Lexi's personalities
as the main characters so far so good. The thing is i would love more passion and intensity from them, their love
didn't won me, i mean she was his only true love forever (mate) their moments should be filled with fireworks,
jealousy (Thorn should be act like a caveman or something), super intense moments (they should want each other every
minute). That's my opinion and what would i want from the story, so that doesn't mean that is not good book because
it i said it from the beginning it was an enjoyable book and if love fantasy romance i definitely recommend it.

I got this book because I was told I didn't have to read them in order. While I might not have to read them in order, I feel like I definitely would have benefited from reading the other books.
The story was fine, but I never really grew to care for any of the characters. I think this is just a case of me not being the right audience. Fans of this series seem to really like it!
There was a lot of relationships and references to the past that were lost on me, so even when I was invested in parts of the story, I felt like I was missing something.
I'd read the series from the beginning though. There's good romance scenes, strong female characters, and sexy dragons. I love everything about all of that. I'll come back to this one, and hopefully appreciate it more.

Thorn and Darius are working to kill the Dark in Edinburgh, but are trying to do it secretly so the Dark can’t warn the others of their presence. While doing so they discover a young woman that is following the Dark. Thorn intervenes a couple of times and got stabbed both times for his trouble! But soon the Dark start taking interest in Lexi. Thorn keeps an eye on her to make sure she stays safe, but when he finds her sick walking through the cold and rain when her body finally gives out, he has no choice, but to take her back to Darcy’s apartment and nurses her back to health.
Lexi eventually tries to go back home, but can’t leave Thorn. She has no idea if he feels the same about her, but when she gets kidnapped by the enemy those feelings will be put to the test!
I wanted to like this book and it ended up being a decent read, but I found it had a pretty slow start. Just stick with it, it does get better!
I, of course, loved Thorn. This book touched a little on his past, the one that makes him never want to have anybody under his protection ever again. I do wish we had gotten more of Thorn’s backstory though. I think it would have done a lot for building his character and developing him even further.
Lexi was a feisty girl in her own right, even if she was pretty naïve where the ‘red eyes’ were concerned. I was a bit surprised she followed Thorn and Darius’s directives so easily after being taken to the flat.
This book also built more on the Ulrik storyline. I still don’t think he’s nearly as bad as the Kings think and I’m waiting for his redemption moment, even though I expect it to be awhile in coming!
We also got to see more of Rhi and her battle between good and evil. Part of me can’t help, but want her to be with Balladyn knowing how much he has always loved her. But … and you know there always is one … it’s hard to look past the fact that he tortured her and will more than likely want to turn her Dark. And, of course there is that tiny part of me wanting to see her find happiness with her King, even if he doesn’t deserve it!
This was a decent read that did advance the story arch of the series. There were a few question marks left at the end to be solved in a later book, which is pretty normal for a Grant story.

Yet another good installment in this series that introduces us to The Reapers. Thorn and Lexi are good characters and the story was filled with appearances by some of our other favorite characters.

The Dark are getting darker and I can't wait for the next installment in this series!

PASSION IGNITES by Donna Grant is an action-packed installment in the author's Dark Kings series. First of all, you should know that I'm a huge fan of Donna's Dragon Kings. While PASSION IGNITES is not one of my favorites in the series, it's nevertheless a good, solid addition. Honestly, the first half of the book was actually a little slow-paced for me, but the second half kicked the clip up to an adrenaline rush making me completely forget the previous slowness. PASSION IGNITES is the story of "bad boy" Dragon King Thorn and Lexi, a masseuse in a Charleston spa.
As a bad boy, Thorn had already held a special place in my heart before this book. In this book, we find that underneath his image, he's really just a courageous, strong, smoldering hunky guy who happens to also be a fire-breathing dragon. Thorn's dragons were the Clarets and this little snippet made me want to cry for him:
"In all my years, there was only one time I felt fear. That's when I had to send my Clarets away. I never experienced it again. Until you."
The Dragon Kings are stretched thin trying to control the Dark Fae who are sprouting up everywhere. Con has assigned Thorn and Darius to hunt the Dark Fae in Edinburgh. That's how Thorn came upon Lexi, who was not exactly happy to see him, even though he saved her life. Thorn rocked!
Lexi had been on vacation with her friends when Christina, one of her group, was murdered by the red-eyed, evil Dark Fae. Lexi had been at the bar with Christina that fateful night and is now tortured by what-ifs that may have saved her friend. Lexi has vowed to exact justice. So Lexi refuses to go home to Charleston - even for Christina's funeral. Instead, she prowls the streets of Edinburgh looking for Christina's killer. She's quite obsessed with it, forgetting to eat or drink or pay attention to her own safety. She meets Thorn when he saves her literally from the red-eyes' clutches. But, Lexi still doesn't trust him. That is definitely not her most brilliant decision. I came to respect Lexi, but she was so wound up with revenge-at-whatever-cost, that she was difficult for me to relate to in the first half of the book.
PASSION IGNITES is the seventh book in the series. The romance is fully contained within this book, so technically it should be able to be enjoyed as a standalone. I wouldn't... but you could if that is your preference. Donna's Dragon Kings are all so smokin' hot, I would recommend that the series be read in order so you wouldn't miss a bit of their lusciousness. There are also underlying mysteries and danger elements that have been building up in each installment. I really believe that being acquainted with the world and the characters before diving into this book would exponentially increase your enjoyment of the story. That said, whatever you decide to do, be forewarned that the series is highly addictive.
Part of the thrill of reading these stories is being able to catch up with favorite characters from the previous books. It does that AND it ratchets up the danger element even more. AAAGH! The Dark are getting darker and I can't wait for the next installment in this series! PASSION IGNITES should be a must-read for fans of the series as there are tidbits of information divulged within the pages that are additional puzzle pieces for fans. I highly recommend Donna's Dragon King series to anyone who loves yummy dragons, sexy Scots, and/or paranormal romance.

While PASSION IGNITES is not one of my favorites in the series, it's nevertheless a good, solid addition. What Donna Grant has done with this series of series is nothing short of spectacular. She had a concept and allowed it to grow without damaging the original idea. Book 7 in her Dark Kings Series dances the line between touching base with the history of the series and introducing some new concepts (more on that in a later review). And of course she does it brilliantly.
Thorn is considered the "Bad Boy" of the Dragon Kings. He's spent his entire waking life walking just a wee bit on the wild side. What few know and even fewer remember is that Thorn takes all that intensity into everything he does even his promise to care for humans, especially his promise to care for humans. When that promise was shattered, Thorn felt he betrayed the trust put in him and walled up his emotions. It's taken centuries but one human woman who refuses to fall for the Dark Fae has sent Thorn tumbling and that wall.. yep it came a tumbling down.
Lexi watched her best friend leave the bar one night, she was worried and followed her. Only to discover too late that she was dead. That the "men" she went with were truly evil and probably not men. It seems Lexi is one of the few who not only sees through the glamour but can fight off the lust that the Dark Fae exude. It makes her an even more tempting morsel but that doesn't faze her, nope, she is determined to avenge her friend and takes it upon herself to fight the Dark... not that she has a clue what they are. One dark night, the Dark turned on her and if not for an incredibly sexy man.. she'd be dead. Forced to accept his help, Lexi has to learn the hard way that he is way more than just the sexy hunk next door.
Passion Ignites, moves the battle between the Dark Fae and the Dragons into full scale. Lines have been crossed and the Kings are in for the battle to end all battles. Choices have to made and bonds are tested.
Con.. Now here's a character that still stumps me. What's his secret? What's he up to? Can he be so lost in being THE Dragon King that he has forgotten to bend? Will winning the war mean loosing Con? Just a thought
Rhi.. Now Rhi has some serious issues to deal with. Her darkness is growing but so is her light. Can she continue walking the tightrope or must she finally make a choice. Will her Dragon King ever step up and be the lover she needs and deserves? I am starting to really dislike this particular Dragon King, not that I have any idea who it is. I know it's not Con, good lord it better not be Con that would be horrid at this point. I do hope it's a King we've at least heard of before.. I mean we have to be able to love to hate him or something. Also, the fact that as much as Rhi is fighting her inner demons, she knows that the light Fae MUST step into the battle. Their world is also at risk.
Ulric... Come on who doesn't love this guy? Seriously? I think he's one of the best written characters out there. He is alone has been for so very long, wants his revenge but I think he wants his "family" back more. Sure he's angry, justifiably so but I think when push comes to shove he's going to be the one thing that turns the battle for the Dark Kings.. again, just my opinion..
There is more.. oh so much more, this book was stuffed with nuances and foreshadowing.. hints of new characters as well as things to come. I wait for each of these books with an almost child like intensity.. I really want to discover what comes next.
Just a great series.. and Passion Ignites totally set my world aflame!

Passion Ignites starts off with Lexi hunting down her friend's killer. She is obsessed. The difference here between Lexi and a lot of the heroines in the earlier books is that Lexi knows there is more out there. She has seen the Dark Fae without their glamour. She knows they are not human. However, that does not stop her from tracking them down and trying to kill them herself.
Luckily Thorn has observed Lexi's quest and is compelled to help her. It is implied that he has past issues, and the other Kings are watching him with Lexi to see if she will be a trigger. Thorn tries hard to distance himself, but is drawn. A big, telling sign that she is his mate.
Lexi also finds out about the Kings accidentally. There is no asking or talking to Con about it first. Unfortunately it is not the best timing, such things never are, and there you go. She now has an even broader knowledge of their world. A telling sign that Thorn is on the fence of the Con / Ulrick war is the fact that he doesn't call Con right away when he would have been the obvious one to help Lexie. Instead, the Druids and Warriors are now a part of the war.
I was really confused by Con's reaction to Lexi. He just seemed so calm. He admits he hates that the Kings are all finding mates, but Thorn and Lexi's relationship does not seem to set him off.
The war definitely progresses in Passion Ignites. I don't know how the Kings are going to deal with the repercussions of their enemy's actions. I was really surprised on the route that was taken. Ulrik also surprises me when he comes practically face to face with Con. There are so many pieces of this war puzzle coming together. So many different parties playing each other and underhanded roles. I think the Kings are going to be blown away when all this surfaces. It is going to be really, really bad.
Overall, I think the war storyline was moved along nicely with some great questions being raised. I didn't quite feel the connection between Thorn and Lexi. It seemed too easy, and the trick just one kiss played on the whole plan for her was kind of a simple answer to move forward. I like them as a couple and meeting your mate in the middle of war would definitely put a damper on romantic plans. I just felt like the book played more to the Dark Fae & Kings along with Ulrick and our other evil mastermind.
I'm excited for Smouldering Hunger! A favorite character is in a bad position, and the Kings still have to work out the newest problem laid at their door. I can't wait!

She didn’t see who killed her friend but she saw who she left the bar with the night she was murdered, she knows that man is behind her friend’s death. The red eyes are out to kill everyone and Lexi is convinced she must avenge the death of her friend at all cost, and she will do so by killing the man responsible.I really enjoyed this installment, the author did a fantastic job pairing these two characters. Each one has things that the other needs, however their differences threaten to separate what destiny might’ve tried to unite. Thorn is one of those characters one can’t stop thinking even after finishing the book. He is understanding, brave, sensitive, and adoringly sexy. Lexi is smart, sensitive, loyal and brave. These two people meet during stressful circumstances for both yet make these circumstances work in ways that brings them together and make each of them stronger.I really like how the author manages to put together a love story that survives the evil that seems to lurk around the Kings, even when the Dark attacks get stronger and bolder the attraction between these two characters get stronger. I enjoy the twists and turns the story seems to take. From the way in which other characters come to be part of every story to the finality their actions take when one of their own is in danger. Their unity, their loyalty and love for one another is threaten and put to the test over and over yet, they all manage to surpass whatever evil threatens to make them weaker or try to force them to lose their path.I can’t wait see what happens with Darius & Sophia. I already like the nonsense kind of attitude these two characters seem to share, both seem to be at the ready when they are needed and both seem to have a tremendous will and strong personality. I can’t seriously wait to read it.If you are looking for a great paranormal/urban fantasy then look no further.

Passion Ignites is Donna Grant at her finest! I loved, loved, loved it!!! There is constant action and you will not want to put this book down because you will be dying to know what happens on the next page! The intoxicating tale she weaves of love and lust are filled with heart pounding action and will for sure keep you on the edge of your seat! I swear each book just keeps getting better!

Not only do you have the love story of Thorn and Lexi but all the side stories will leave you questioning so much! Just when you think you may have it figured out.... Donna throws in more to keep us on our toes! I have so many theories as to were the series will go next and I am counting down the days till the next book!!
The tide is turning, lines are blurred and retribution is coming. The world will never be the same.

Donna Grant is sizzling in Dragon fire in the 7th installment of her dragon kings series, Passion Ignites. And I have to say it's my favorite so far. there is action, love, steamy sex scenes and we get to see a whole new side to a few of our favorite dragon kings, {hint hint: King of Kings}. The war has just begun and with every page you read, you find yourself sucked into the fire and passion of Thorn and Lexi. all the while Donna Grant Keeping hold to the secrets we all dying to know. Passion Ignites does finish some story endings from the previous books, along with creating new twist for the coming ones, safe to say I'm exciting for the next book to be released!

I have absorbed each and every book of her Dark Warrior and now the Kings series. I love the main story-line of conquering the Dark and protecting humans from all who seek to control and kill. In the midst of all the chaos is this beautiful story of a King who finds his mate in a war that is being driven by the need to conquer all.
The Kings are so awesome and each book has it's own story of a King as the main story-line moves along. I cannot say enough about Donna Grant. She is a little fire-cracker of which I have had the pleasure of meeting which makes her books so much better for having done so.
Please read all in order if you have not read either of the two series, because they are still running hand in hand with the characters intermingling.
