Ok, he's not actually my shadow, he's a shadow man from the Shadow Realm.
But he follows me around like he's attached to me. Wherever I turn he's there, watching me from a shadowy corner with those fathomless amber eyes.
He's silent, looming, brooding and terrifying.
Me? I'm annoyingly cheerful, apparently.
So having a being called Dark decide to stalk me is, you know. Ironic.
Not that I mind, because for a literal monster, he’s kinda sweet. Considerate. Extremely attentive.
All in all, moving to the city really has been wilder than I thought. I work in a coffee shop where the owner is engaged to a shadow prince and my manager is a witch, and that's how I met my shadow.
Although he isn't actually mine.
But I think I want him to be.
There’s just the small matter of saving the world from a doomsday prophecy to deal with first.
MM paranormal romance. Sunshine and Shadow. Opposites attract. An ancient shadow lord drawn helplessly to his light. One inanely cheerful barista who thinks being stalked is cute, he just needs to avert the end times before he can date.
Shadow Lord is book three in the Shadowmen series. It follows a new couple and can be enjoyed as a standalone, if you don't mind filling in gaps yourself, but will be heaps more fun if book two is read first.
I love characters who are battered and broken by life, who through the course of finding love, discover they are strong. Despite everything, because of everything, I will always believe that love conquers all.

4⭐️ You absolutely must read books 1&2 before this one, and once you do, you’ll already know why I love Bunny so much. This book follows the cheerful and blindingly positive barista as he navigates being the chosen one 😂 His wonderful shadow, Dark, is steadfast in his feelings ❤️
This book is going to give: -one of the most naïve but lovable MCs you’ll ever meet (ily Bunny) -human x demon -chosen one that doesn’t want to be the chosen one -prophecies and a cult that’s “not so bad”
S. Rodman has a way with making their book series super addictive, and this series is no exception. I was so excited when I saw that Bunny and Dark’s book came out! Though it wasn’t my favourite ever, it has Bunny, so my rating is high anyways 😂😛
Bunny is such a wonderful character. He’s overly positive and seemingly naïve to the point where it’s genuinely hilarious. Yet it’s somehow believable, given his backstory growing up in a cult where everyone is called Brian for some reason. 🤷 I love that we get a glimpse past his positive exterior and see him have to deal with some serious issues in this book.
I also loved how loyal Dark was with Bunny; a solid protector and full of quiet devotion. Though I did like the contrast between their characters, however, I felt like they didn’t have the excellent chemistry that the couples in the previous books had. They’re also apart for a lot of the book. This book isn’t really focused on how they get together, but instead on how they manage to be together despite their less than stellar circumstances.
Bunny made me smile a lot while reading this. And for that, I enjoyed this book!
A good story overall but I didn’t enjoy a lot of the execution, which was loneliness and pining. I don’t like angst in books and I was crying through several chapters. It was well done to move me so much, but not my preference.
The continuation of the lore and characters was great. I love how the cult and Magdalene turned out after the buildup in book 2. It was great getting more time with Felix. I absolutely adored books 1 and 2 and I’m looking forward to the rest of the series.
Here's S Rodman's "Shadow Lord." It's the third novel in the Shadowmen series.

BUNNY! Our sweet summer sunshine! Always soo positive and happy.
This went from cute and protective and adorable and soft mutual pining and everything watching, waiting for the inevitable to happy. Then the angst came. That was mean. I cried. I had to take several breaks. Because what if Bunny started crying? Fucking Felix would cry (and then the apocalypse really would start).
Plus three more books in the series coming soon!?!? Yes, please.
Trigger Warnings: bullying, classism, deadnaming, sleep disorders, themes around being unable to become pregnant, relationship breakdown, blood, mild injury, cult/commune, war themes and violence, war causing separation, friends and lovers on opposing sides of a war, natural disasters, and more.
Bunny's move to the city takes a wild turn when he gets a job at a coffee shop run by a witch and a shadow prince, and somehow ends up with a terrifying, silent shadow man from the Shadow Realm named Dark stalking his every move. Despite being a brooding monster with fathomless amber eyes, Dark is surprisingly sweet, considerate, and attentive to Bunny's annoyingly cheerful personality—making Bunny want to claim him for himself. Before they can figure out their unusual bond, however, they have to deal with a small complication: saving the world from a looming doomsday prophecy.
I absolutely loved this story! It features such a wonderfully crazy found family at the coffee shop, perfectly contrasted with an even crazier cult that Bunny grew up in. I also loved the developing relationship between Bunny and Dark; it's a wonderfully satisfying slow burn that completely delivers on the deep, genuine love growing between them both. Packed with high stakes, drama, and danger as they face down an end-of-the-world prophecy, I loved seeing how they reacted to it all. The story is brimming with raw emotions and feelings throughout that are so easy to connect with and feel right alongside the characters. A fantastic, wildly entertaining read. This was an MM story with mature content.
While. It as bad as other recent releases this new one from this author also suffers from insane amount of internal dialogue and characters only talking to each other in short quips. The general lowering of lextile is evident and I am so disappointed in the story line too. The most non story plot of the series. I was really looking forward to one too. Way too much mention of nights story which is not out yet ?! Why? It would have better released before this one to set this one up properly. And maybe author could have fixed all the problems with this one with the extra writing time. This for 3 ⭐️ only because the writing was not as bad as the other degraded writing new releases of late. So it’s better by comparison. And I’m still willing to give this insta read author another chance before I take them off my must read list.
Bunny is overwhelmingly cheerful despite (because of?) his unusual upbringing. He is such an easy to like character. Dark is a surprise. Unfailingly polite and the efforts he makes are so sweet even if he doesn’t get them quite right. I enjoyed seeing practically the entire cast of characters from the previous books all coming together in chaotic solidarity.
The one issue I had was that at some point I became aware of the abundant use of one particular word. I’m not going to draw attention what it was in case others don’t notice or it didn’t bother them in the same way but after that I got a little bit frustrated and pulled out of the story every time I saw it again.
For a dark romance series that turned itself into a series of romcoms this was bittersweet. I mean I did laugh out loud, a lot, but I was also deeply invested in Bunny and Dark's story. There was a soul crushing heaviness to it in places that made me want to reevaluate the rom com genre, even whilst still laughing. I loved Bunny's optimism and Dark's quiet solicitude and spent a lot of time wondering how on earth they would manage to work it out. Thankfully they did. I'm off to make an inside out sandwich now
1st person POV single Plot 3.5/5 Spice 1/5 Shadow man/ human
Oh my goodness the pining and aching wrapped up in this book had me all up in my own damn feelings! I felt so bad for Dark and Bunny! These two both had roles to play in the grand scheme of things but their draw and feelings for each other made things difficult! They tried so hard to be the things others wanted/ needed them to be, but they just couldn't sacrifice each other!
This series definitely needs to be read in order, but this book itself was so good! ❤️
This book did something to me. Bunny had more depth than anyone with that name really has a right to. Dark is the brooding shadow that values making the right choice above all. I don't know who is the most morally correct but I felt on the cusp of being kept emotionally captive. (In the best way.)
I really liked this book. 4 stars for rating, 3 for spice. The whole prophecy thing was a bit odd. But I liked the way Bunny and Dark handled it. And I enjoyed their relationship development. The terrible toast and picnic were entertaining and so sweet.
I liked the first book. I loved the second book. I absolutely ADORED this one. I knew I'd enjoy it because how could anyone NOT love Bunny, but Dark was also incredibly wonderful and together they were amazing.
I love that this one has an actual story like the second one. I love the reappearances of characters we already know and love. And it's quite a bit of a slow burn, which is cute to read. The spice was classy and done well. All around a good read.
Lots of tea and sweetness. I cried and laughed and felt swooningly content through this. A lovely accumulated found family and silly delightful domestic moments.
It is giving very original Good Omens vibes of what happens when a (spoilers) chosen one nopes their way out of a destiny they didn't choose. Delight part of the series.
Bunny and Dark are really sweet. Both tossed into the prophecy of their worlds neither wanting to do what is excepted of them. Lots of angst, slow burn, found family, hard decisions Happy endings
