"Evolution doesn't build upon past failures but upon what worked well". - Jason Fried - Rework
Restart - Lessons from one startup for another is a compilation of the lessons learnt while runnning Musicfellas - a digital music startup which was acquired by Times Internet Limited. These lessons come from personal experiences of the author and are hugely anecdotal. In words of the author, "This is the book I would want to read next time I start up".
From the author:
Running a startup in India is different from anywhere else. Hence, this could only be a guideline to how you should run your startup in India. Also, this book is specifically guidelines to running a startup, although some of it could be applied to running a business as well.
Musicfellas taught me a lot - importance of money, the things that matter and the value of having smart, supportive people around you and the fact that in the moments when you feel life is tough for you, it is for everyone else involved too. Even though we never grew to a scale as I had wished, I loved it. During the journey, I lost a few things, gained some more and became an overall better, smarter and wiser people.
Now that Musicfellas has been acquired, I’ve had time to look back. In retrospect, I find a lot of things that I'd have done differently. But, there are some things that we did that I wouldn't change, some moments that were perfect and I would keep them as is. So, as lessons for mine or even your next venture, I'd like to share some of those things that I would do more in my next startup.
