Felt very rushed...could have been a lot more clever/interesting (and yes, I know I'm not the target audience).

A fun guidebook for those who enjoyed The Lego Movie. This book is a "guide" on how to be awesome. The book is broken down into various parts such as "Having an Awesome Morning", "Traveling Abroad", and "Dealing with Tricky Situations". It is a fun and entertaining book.

This book has it all: jokes, tips, quizzes, quotes, creative assignments. Very engaging.

The only thing I didn't really like about the book was the pictures. As with many books based on the various Lego movies, this one uses still shots directly from the movie. This means that some of the pictures are fuzzy or blurry. Some of the pictures are also kind of small, making it hard to see. And there are a few pictures that are repeated multiple times in the book (Mrs. Scratchen-Post pages 25 and 88, Emmet's jumping jacks pages 15 and 88, just to name a few). Small detail, but still kind of irksome.

I will say that there are some pretty clever things in this book. My favorite was "Please do not finger-paint with glow-in-the-dark neon paint without a parent or adult's permission. If you are a parent or adult, please ask your child for permission to use his or her glow-in-the-dark neon finger paint." Hilarious.

Overall, entertaining. Pictures could have been better, but its a nice read, especially for hesitant readers.

I devoured this book! It was so funny! I could read this book again and again and I laughed so many times! I'm rating it four stars, though, for some.... content. Such as: Otherwise, a great and hilarious read! :)

Emmett, the unwitting hero of The Lego Movie, gives a series of tips for “being awesome.” This tongue in cheek guide uses screen shots and jokes from the movie and should appeal to fans of the movie.

I bought a used copy of this book on a whim, after I opened it to a random page and saw the lyrics to Batman's song from the first Lego Movie. Having now read the whole book, all I can say is that the lyrics were the one real highlight. The book wasn't all that bad, but it wasn't memorable either. I've already forgotten what else was in it, and I just finished reading it less then 5 minutes ago. Then again, I'm not in the target demographic.
Did I like it? Not sure.
Would I reread it? Probably not.
Would I recommend it? Probably not.

I loved the Lego Movie, and this guide has that same sort of silly, quirky humor. Lots of illustrations, including some charts to help you figure out your Lego personality. Kids who liked the movie would probably really get a kick out of this. But adult fans of the movie can enjoy it too - I had fun flipping through the pages (some of which did make me laugh out loud, I will admit it).

Emmett, the unwitting hero of The Lego Movie, gives a series of tips for “being awesome.” This tongue in cheek guide uses screen shots and jokes from the movie and should appeal to fans of the movie, but holds little for readers unfamiliar with it. This optional purchase for popular collections should circulate well.

Despite not really having any new information, this was a fun book. Both of my children really enjoyed it. It has facts and jokes and quizzes and a few activity suggestions. Both of my children (ages 10 and 7) totally loved this book.
