The Mirrored Prophecy #1

Power of the Fae

Rate this book
The Ancients spoke of a Mirrored Prophecy that would determine the future. One version of the prophecy spoke of a small female of mixed heritage giving birth to a child that will save mankind. The other side of the prophecy spoke of the female’s child being the demise of the world.

The Princess of the Light Fae, Arlina Waldmar, may be small but she is deadly. She is a member of the elite Guardians of the Fae. She has been given the assignment of going to the human realm to investigate the vanishing supernaturals.

Colin MacKenzie, Alpha wolf, has determined that finding a mate is not in his future. His people are vanishing. He will need to lead his Legion, defenders of werewolves to find them. His wolf has recognized a certain dark haired Faery Princess to be his mate, but he refuses to claim her.

There is an evil set on destroying the Human and Faery realms. Colin and Arlina must work together to defeat this evil. His thoughts are constantly on Arlina. Arlina knows there is no fighting the attraction between them. Can she convince him to give them a chance before it’s too late?

Thank you Ariel Marie for putting Power of the Fae for free on amazon!

This book was simply not for me. I remember reading the blurb, was a bit skeptical, but interested. However as soon as I started things went downhill :/ First, when I picture Fairy world, I'm picturing castles, (old) fighting between dark and light fae, or something like that, not where they have a bar where they play popular music from the human world... Or the people in fairy get drunk from just a couple of beers.. I just was picturing this different, specially different from the human world.
“So Melomouzor wants out of the Underworld and wants to come take over the human realm? There is no way we can let that happen!”

Now, the writing, I guess, was what I didn't like the most. Specially the repeating the same lines or the same facts more than once. I mean we get it, they are sitting in a meeting, you don't have to explain it twice... Just sayin'! The stating the obvious is also so annoying, because they are serious and not joking. And then there's the cliché, and being not original at all. I mean...
"..The future lies in your hands, Arlina.”

Come on!?! The worst part though, was how Lina accepted the news..
“It’s okay, Colin. I can do this. I have to do this. The future of the human realm depends on me. You know I will do whatever I have to do to save the realm.”

Is she for real? I mean, no questioning it? No: "you can't be serious?", no nothing? Just accepting it just like that? Nah, that doesn't work for me.

Annnnnd then it's the damn insta-love, which if you know me then you know I HATE insta-love, so when I realized that it was insta-love, it was the first straw for me and then it just got on and on with disappointments and more straws came for me :/
The more time I spend with her the more I feel the need to be with her, but she deserves someone who can be everything that she needs. Someone who can be there with her, settle down and have babies with her. She deserves someone who will be guaranteed to be around forever. The urge to punch someone comes on strong at the thought of another man touching her, or her belly growing ripe with someone else’s child. The pull to claim her is growing stronger.

I think this was after two days or three? So no... not working for me. And what's up with using "!" when you are simply saying a sentence? You're not yelling, or anything?
“No problem, boss. I think I will start with the Midwest region!” He smiles like the cat who caught the little canary bird.
<--See? There's plenty of them -.-' I think they are used wrong.. Maybe it's just me, but..
“Okay!” I say holding my hands up surrendering. “I’m up. Let me throw some clothes on and pee!”

I can go on and on about the negative side, but it did have some really great potential. Lena was independant, strong and sassy, and Colin an sexy alpha male. The story could have been fantastic had she just written it different and made it more mysterious or something. The insta-love I could have looked away from considering they are true mates, but since the story wasn't for me, since it didn't make me forget that it's insta-love, I couldn't look away.. But at least I tried to finish it, but I just couldn't. Sorry.
I love that he agreed to take things one day at a time, but deep down I want more. He has possessed my heart. I have fallen head first in love with this Alpha. I want to spend eternity with this man.

^^ I think this is four-five days into the story or something... No, not for me at all. It sucks that I DNF at 60% but I just couldn't continue.. I just got pissed and annoyed that things didn't change :/

This was OK - basic sentences, bad editing, and a story that's all been done before.
 photo adams lurch_zpsj4jxs5dg.gif
If the editing had been improved, including too much use of the same word in one sentence, it would have considerably eased my pain.

It couldn't have been too bad though, I finished it.

Our heroine has everything ie. the three B's: Breeding Brains & Beauty. (I got that from a b/w movie). Oh, and did I add a princess, charisma and a sex kitten. If you like hot & steamy, maybe this is worth your while!

Despite all that, she's likable enough. There's sexy everything - witches, fae, werewolves, vampires and daemons.
 photo Lurch faint_zpslhnkydku.gif
The vamps play the part of perverted (what a surprise), and the daemons display full on demonic characteristics. Oh and let's not forget the evil ex boyfriends/girlfrienda.

The story is a simple kick-arse scenario where we're all going to war to save the planet.

Don't read this book on the train if you're going to have the general public reading over your shoulder, unless you want to play sex kitten too.

I was all over the place with this book.

What I loved
All the different species. Witches. Werewolves. Vampire. Fairies.
All the different realms.
Bad boys everywhere you look.

What drove me crazy
Harem book.
One girl saves the world book.
I also hated all the petty drama. The cousin. The two exes. There is quite enough going on it could've been left out.

Onward to book 2 with big expectations.

I want to give it 3 stars.

I just can't finish it. I want to. I think the story line is great. The story idea is great. I think the character building is going well. I made it to the 3rd chapter. Why can't I read it? It's the writing. It doesn't flow. It's written by points. Basically how I'm writing this review. Fact, stop, new sentence, stop, repeat part of last sentence, stop, make statement now because the background was omitted earlier,stop. I'm thinking the writer must be young. Definitely not for adults. Happy reading. Sorry author:(

The book was great. Ariel is very detailed throughout the book. For me it kinda became a little tedious because I'm a pagan and understood lots of it without it being explained. only thing I really don't like is the book ends in the middle of the story so you don't know the ending until you get the next book (and I'm sure the one after that also). I really dislike when authors do that. I feel a book should go start to finish in one book. I don't mind series that have different stories that tire together but don't split a book in 3 different books. That drives me crazy.

First, thank you Ariel Marie for providing me with a copy of Power of the Fae to read in exchange for an honest review... and lord do I have a lot to say about this little book of fairy dust....

I'm in major hangover mode... MAJOR. I finished the last page and it’s a good thing I was in the park alone because I cursed. Loudly. Not a bad thing that I did just... it needed to be said. Holy Cliffhanger Batman! Okay, so maybe it wasn;t ..that... bad but I neeeeeeed more like pronto. ASAP. Now. Just.. right.. now. Gah. So, okay let ya in on a little secret... (stage whispers) This little book is kind of full of awesomeness and I want, need and crave more of it nooooooooooooooooooow. (dramatic sigh) Alright, alright, my princess moment is over.. onto the good stuff.

***possible spoiling of the obvious to come***

What do you get when a princess, a witch and a werewolf walk into a room? (crickets) An epic standoff. Ha. But seriously, Princess Arlina is (to me) a mix of a few of my favorite characters. She is half Fae, half Witch (human) and all bad-ass. Take Xena, warrior princess, Anna Valerious (from Van Helsing) and Selene (from Underworld) and shake them up into one totally bad, demon kicking ass of a chick. And yes I am aware that two of those characters are played by Kate Beckinsale.. (drools) She is totes my Arlina. Just Saying. Lina is more than a princess. She is a Fea, yes and a witch but she is something special, even more than she knows.

When Lina is sent to the human realm to see her grandmother. Her mother's mother. (Lina's mother died after her 15th birthday during an attack on their castle. So she has missed out on so much. But her grandmother, her aunts and her family have been there on both sides to help her be who and what she wants to be. That means when she told her father and brother she wanted to do it they supported her.) Now, present day you have a 25 year old, five foot nothing fighting machine that can take down demons, men's hearts and anyone that gets in her way. She's a girl on a mission.. and what a mission. There are missing supernaturals from both realms and Lina along as the witches council, the werewolves and the fae are tasked with trying to find out why they are missing. Who has taken them and stop it before more lives are lost? Stolen? They really are clueless as to what is happening.

At first sight Colin, the Diamond pack Alpha, top man of the Legion (the werewolf police) and total hottie has to fight to keep his wolf in line. (I'm totes picturing Kellan Lutz.. (drools again)) Colin's wolf wants that hot little fae... he so wants to see her fairy dust. But Colin, being the alpha idiot he is has decided he can't have a mate. He isn't worthy and he can't put someone through the fact that he could be killed at anytime. It happened to his mother when his father was killed so now he is fighting his feelings. Right now though they have bigger things on their plates than feelings. Or so they think. Eventually things like feelings catch up and they can fight all they want but it happens. In my opinion it makes them stronger. And more on edge. Colin now that he has had time with her has to fight harder to keep himself in line when Lina is involved. His wolf wants to claim her.. talk about an inner struggle.

As the pieces of the puzzle start to fall into line things happen that start to change the ways of the Fae. No Fae has ever held all of the powers of the Fae.. until now. Seems Lina is on a quest not only to stop the Demon Lord from escaping his hell but she has to learn to control herself and her powers. She is literally going to be the one to stop what is happening. No pressure, right?!?!?! No matter what she does she will have the support of the supernaturals on her side. Her mate, her wolf, Colin of course will be on her as tight as a tick on a pups ass. His pack.. her fellow guardians... the witches.. the vampires... its going to be a free for all 'time to whoop some demon ass back to the stone age' kind of time.

*I received a copy of this book for an honest review*

First off I am a person who pretends to not judge a book by its cover, when in actuality I do exactly that. And I must say when I was secretly judging this book by its cover, in my mind I basically said this cover is gorgeous I need to review this book! When on the outside I’m thinking okay got to read the description. The description of the book was intriguing to say the least, I mean who wouldn’t want to read a book about the princess of the fae and a sexy alpha werewolf? Now, both on the outside and in my mind I’m thinking I need to review this book!

Starting to read the book the prologue sucked me in right away, but I have to be honest that the first few chapters had so much information at the very beginning that I had a hard time remembering some of the important details. That said once the first few chapters had passed the information was spread beautifully throughout the story. Every once in a while the author would remind the readers of some of the information that was given at the beginning chapters and it became easier to follow the story line. I can literally say the more I read the more I liked.

As for the characterization, I loved that Ariel Marie created a world of mythical beings that had alliances instead of the natural enemies I’ve grown accustomed to in paranormal books, even werewolves and vampires are in an alliance (*wink* to those of you who are secret twilight fans). The main characters had strong personalities, which despite the duel perspective from Collin and Arlina, Ariel Marie was still able to maintain those personalities. And since I mentioned the duel perspective, I might add that duel perspectives are my absolute favorite type of point of view.

Arlina’s straight forward attitude had me blinking in total surprise. I’m used to reading insecurity after insecurity from the main characters, but Arlina didn’t have any, she was simply who she was and she didn’t apologize for it.

The love interests are amazing I have to say. Cocky ex-boyfriend; Check! Totally hot possessive alpha werewolf; Check! And the evil demon king wanting to use her to break a prophecy; Check! Though, I admit that my favorite was by far Collin, the alpha werewolf. His possessiveness had me laughing every other paragraph as I read this book. Just the growling alone accounted for a good chunk of the book, which I completely love (and let’s face it, growling is sexy).

I could go on and on about what I love about this book, but I’m afraid I’ll accidentally give away an important detail, so I’ll end by saying read this book you’ll love the passion each character brings into the world of supernatural creatures.

*I was given a copy of this book by Stephanie's Book Reports in exchange for an honest review.

5 stars for Power of the Fae by Ariel Marie!! This is the first book in The Mirrored Prophecy series, and it is a great read!!

Arlina Walmar is part Fae and part human. She is the Princess of the Light Fae and a deadly member of the Guardians of the Fae. When many different types of supernatural beings go missing, she is sent to the human realm to investigate all of the mysterious disappearances. She soon learns of a prophecy that the ancient supernaturals spoke of called The Mirrored Prophecy. The prophecy had two different versions. One spoke of a small, dark haired female of mixed heritage who would give birth to a child who would save mankind. The other version spoke of this same child bringing the demise of the world. To say that she is shocked to learn that she is the female spoken about in the prophecy would be a huge understatement.

Colin Mackenzie is the alpha wolf of the Diamond pack. He has come to the conclusion that finding a mate is just not in his future. He is too busy leading and protecting his pack to even think about having a relationship. Imagine his surprise when he meets the Princess of the Light Fae, and his wolf recognizes her as his mate. Although is wolf continues to recognize her as his mate, Colin refuses to claim her. Arlina can't stop thinking about Colin, so she decides to do everything within her power to convince him to give her a chance.

As Colin and Alina work together to solve the mysterious disappearances that are taking place, they grow closer and closer. When they discover that an evil force is set on destroying both the human and faery realms, they must work together to save everyone and everything that they know and love.

This story is packed full of suspense and danger. Even though it ends in a cliff hanger, it is so worth reading. If you are looking for a story to lose yourself in, this is the book for you! One click it now!!

*I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*

This book is pure awesomeness come to life!!!! I loved the idea the book brought to mind, and when I got to reading it, my expectations were surpassed!!! So, in the Power of the Fae, Lina is the not just anyone. Lina just so happens to be half-fae and half-witch. On top of that supreme mix of supernatural blood she is royalty. The catch is, she's royalty that can pack a punch with her mad fighting skills. Colin is a sexy shifter who is the Alpha of his pack, and leader of basically the supernatural version of the police. Mysterious disappearances are popping up all over the supernatural scale, Lina is sent to investigate. When Lina arrives, she learns that she may be further involved with the strange occurrences than initially thought. Colin has never been one to commit to any one. When he meets Lina he feels a definite possessiveness to protect and love her. Let's just say she reciprocates.... When everyone joins forces to get to the bottom of the ever-growing number of attacks sparks will fly, emotions will soar, and a certain cliffhanger will have you begging for more. They all have to hurry, because a certain someone is itching to get his time to shine in the human realm and possess us all. Also, this book is highly descriptive, you get backstories and impressive imagery that is simply astounding! When I read to the last page of this book I wanted to scream in frustration of the suspense. I will most definitely be getting me a copy of the sequel of this suspenseful and lustful tale. I HIGHLY recommend this book to those of you who particularly enjoy reading about the fae, SEXY shifters, deceitful witches, big bad demons, and steamy scenes that leave you begging for more.

Arlina Waldmar is the Princess of the Light Fae, trusted Guardian of the Fae and part Human, When a group of disappearances occurs in the human realm her father sends her to stay with her maternal grandmother; a very powerful witch to investigate. Enter Colin McKenzie all Werewolf, all Alpha. The leader of the Legion, Colin swears off relationships. His position as leader of the Legion would make that too hard. So when he meets Arlina, the two are forced to work together to figure out what is happening his immediate and super strong attraction for her really puts him off. Only Colin's wolf sees his mate in Arlina and the pull is strong. Mix that with a prophecy they discover is about Arlina foretelling her first born to either save or end the world. With Colin refusing to ever mate things are difficult. Leaving us to find out if Arlina can convince Colin they were meant for each other or if evil will triumph and destroy the world.

I really enjoyed this first book in The Mirrored Prophecy series. Arlina is a kick butt heroine and it's always nice to come across a strong female character like her. Colin is your swoon-worthy Alpha male who refuses to fall in love. Silly Alpha. It had consistent action and a really good story line throughout the whole thing. I do believe it is the only book published so far in the series so we are left with a unfinished story, rather than a cliff hanger that makes you want to scream. I am definitely looking forward to the next book in the series and recommend it to all the paranormal lovers out there.

My review of Power of the Fae by Ariel Marie

First off I have to say OMG! I absolutely freaking loved this book. This is my favorite genre. All things paranormal so, yes this one gets a spectacular review. The book was well written with very few mistakes. All of the characters were well developed and all of them had a background. I love the main character because she’s bad ass! Oh, and did I mention she’s a Fae?! She ends up being the mate to an alpha wolf, which is something totally different to me and I can’t wait to see how this works out. I love the plot with the king of hell (I imagine a sexier version of Crowley from Supernatural), and how he is trapped in the underworld and needs Lina’s blood to escape his hold. My daughter’s name is Alina and we call her Lina so I feel like I am reading about my daughter (who is 1) so it’s a bit weird for me, but I love it! The cover of this book is also amazing! I absolutely cannot wait to read the next book! If you like paranormal romance with some action and drama then this is the book for you! You will NOT be disappointed! <3

I mean wow! After reading the book description on the back of the book I was intrigued. Once I started reading I truly realized that I was in for a ride. The reason as to why I didn't give this book 5 stars is simply because the reader can tell this is the authors debut novel. I am so glad Marie decided to fulfill her dream of writing and that she even had the idea for this book in the first place! I am looking forward to the next books that are to follow this debut! I just hope I do not need to wait too long to find out who gets the happy ending. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in diving into a supernatural drama!

When I first read the book, I was somewhat intrigued. I love how the heorine is portrayed as a strong-willed individual that keeps nothing in the way in the promise of love and family. Her strong belief in that makes her a very likable person. Her personality makes her a 'real' human since we experience the very same feelings. As for Colin, an Alpha male can never go wrong. With the protectiveness, it makes him sexier but I just irritates me when he doesn't want to claim her then and there. I was hooked by the middle of the book. I can not wait for the next installation in the series. By the end, I was a nervous wreck that it ended.

Loved it!

~~~~~~~~~~Dee's ★★★★★ Review~~~~~~~~~~
Wow! I am not a lover of a fantasy world inhabited by witches, vampires, fairies and demons, especially demons! But I have to admit I was captivated by Arlina's story. I could not put it down. The writing was so vivid, I could see the magic being used, the different beings, feel the fear, the frustration of the defenders. The paranormal world was alive like a movie. Amidst all the turmoil regarding the Prophecy, there is a lovely story of love between her and a wolf alpha shifter, her intended mate. I would love to read the continuing story of Arlina, Colin and Keegan in their struggle to stop the Demon King.
Excellent book which mixes a group of paranormal, Fae, Vampires, Witches, and Lykan, to fight Demons from coming into the human realm. Arlina, a princess and guardian of the Fae, is sent by her father to the human realm to investigate disappearances of Fae, witches, vampires and lykan. She discovers demons are behind it trying to bring back a powerful and ruthless demon back. She also discovers love with the lykan leader Colin and their love scenes are hot! Can they stop Melomouzor from coming back ? Great book and I cannot wait to read the second in this series.
The first book in The Mirrored Prophecy series is a well-written and somewhat steamy read!
Fae, Lycans, Witches and Vampires unite to battle Demons in this action-packed story, which is full of suspense and danger.
It's highly descriptive and the attention to detail lets you 'see' the places and situations clearly.
The background on the different species is interesting and informative, and the characters have strong personalities.
The book is written from the points-of-view of a few individuals and brings different perspectives to the storyline.
I thought this book was pretty amazing. It had a lot of aspects that I love in a good book -
A strong female lead
Magical aspects
And a great plot
I loved that there were so many twists and turns and you never knew what was going to happen next. I think that for anyone who likes the fantasy romance genre, this book is a definate must.
3.5 Stars
The dialogue is a little stilted, too much statement and some repetition of information that is redundant. Just needs some editing to improve the flow but otherwise a very good story. I took away one whole star for the cliffhanger. I am not a fan of this new trend. At least this first book wasn't 100 pages like so many books from self-publishing writers. I am invested in the drama and will be reading the next installment to see where things go from here.
