Kapitein Zonneschijn
Aan het eind van de Dierenboulevard ligt het prachtige cruiseschip Zonneschijn voor anker in de haven.
Het is Bella’s eerste dag als kapitein. Ze wilde altijd al in de voetsporen treden van haar tante, kapitein Sylvie Slagtand, maar een groot cruiseschip is wel iets heel anders dan een zeilboot.
Ze is nauwelijks aan boord als ze moeten vertrekken voor een tocht naar Terschelping en terug. Alle passagiers, van neushoorns tot kikkers, verheugen zich wild.
Als ze op weg zijn, blijkt dat de vorige kapitein alles heeft gedaan om Bella’s cruise te laten mislukken. Gelukkig krijgt Bella hulp van haar geweldige team, van eerste stuurman Tatoe tot de strenge mevrouw Spinner en de jonge pinguïns Flip en Flap.
Maar zal het genoeg zijn om van de cruise en succes te maken?
Volle kracht vooruit voor een onvergetelijk dierenavontuur!

Are you ready for the cruise? Step aboard! Enjoy the ride!
The newest book (and series) by Alex Milway and of course I had to buy as soon as it came out. Hello? I loved his earlier series/books and I just love a book about a cruise! And I can tell you already… this was oodles of fun!
💞 Love the map of the world and the one of the boat. Always a plus in my eyes. Give me all the maps!
💞 Bella was such a sweetheart and I felt for her that she didn’t have an easy time with her first cruise due to sabotage, but I love that she never gave up and tried her utter best to make something of the cruise. I loved how she was there for the passengers and tried her best even when things went south. She was creative and inventive and I just love how she talked to everyone. Not just on her crew but also her passengers. She wanted to know all about everyone. Plus, I loved seeing her make plans, think up some serious good ideas.
💞 Loved the crew (well, not the cat woman for a fair bit, but later I warmed up to her). It was such an eclectic mix and I loved their personalities.
💞 The art was a delight. As expected!
💞 Loved the cruise, I want to be part! Can I just step in? Please? Guess I will just have to go on a cruise for real one day. If I get that money. If cruises are still a thing then, haha, given how much bad press is about them these days.
💞 Plus, I loved the last pages with all that happened there and how sweet and emotional it was. It was the perfect way to end things!
💞 HOTEL FLAMINGO is mentioned! This one is set in the same place/world, and I was just squeeing in delight at the mention of the hotel.
😫 Eww, to the villain. It just made things a bit less fun for me. He was just an asshole and I didn’t like all he did to our cruise ship. Seriously, dude, just play fair. Instead of this stinky way.
🤔 Also I was wondering how it would end but I am guessing it continues in the next one, it was tied up a bit, but there is still plenty left open. On the one hand I do like it, on the other hand I would have liked things to be tied up completely and us just going to a new story in the next book.
All in all, yes, I had some issues, but in overall? So much fun and I am definitely looking forward to the next book. I cannot wait to see how many volumes this series will get! Hopefully plenty, with lots of adventures, oh and no more villains. Please.

Just like all of Alex’s other books, this is so canny. I loved the illustrations of all of the animals in their ship uniform! I really appreciate that kindness and generosity are key to the success of the Sunshine. Even when the crew come across those who want to make them feel bad, they rally together to make the Sunshine a success!
