“You have ruined my birthday with your rampant misogyny,” Granny said angrily, shaking her cane in my face and I was forbidden a piece of birthday cake.

Genuinely how does she come up with this? I’m dead 💀. Basically, Chadley Parker-Bowles, former frat bro, tries to impress his sexist boss to earn his VP of marketing promotion by asking his wife to be a more traditional wife. Essentially tone down her whimsy goth and be a tradwife. Only to be met with instant regret when he gets exactly what he asked for and all he wants his wife back. Plus he has to deal with his co-worker and frat bro trying to move in on his wife lol.

No cheating. No OW drama. Over the top and entertaining.

Roses are red, violets are blue, if you mess with a swamp girl's weird side, her kin's gonna beat you till you're black and fuckin' blue...or toss your dumb ass in the creek to show what gators like to chew....To spell it out for the folks who eat soup with a fork: gents, if your old lady goes through the trouble of packing you a spooktacular, blood-curdling lunch and your ungrateful ass throws a fit, do not throw a tantrum when you end up knee-deep in hog, fighting for your life in a bayou while her family debates whether to feed you to the gators...You think you are demanding normal, but you are actually handing her a sledgehammer and showing her where your load-bearing walls are. Play stupid games, collect catastrophic prizes, and do not dare shed a tear when her entire lineage lines up to kick you into the nearest swamp.

Soo here's the long and short of it:
This story revolves around a prime candidate for the Darwin Awards who makes the fatal error of telling his spouse to put a leash on her weirdness. She complies in the absolute worst way possible by giving him exact malicious obedience and dumping his self-righteous ego straight into a woodchipper. Meanwhile, his blowhard supervisor preaches about traditional toughness while actively cowering behind the nearest bush, his smooth-talking rival is practically licking his chops waiting for the idiot to drop the ball, and his in-laws treat him with less respect than a dirty floor mat. To cap it all off, he gets to choke on the dust of his own making...while the whole town, myself included, pops open a freezing cold brew, kicks our feet up on the porch, and laughs ourselves into a stroke watching him gasp for air in the mess he spent his own two hands building....It's funny and messy as fuck and features poultry jammed into utterly unnatural orifices, deep swamp sludge, and hungry gators. Ultimately, it forces a dense husband to swallow a brutal lesson: trying to tone down your spouse's unique spark is a speedrun to losing every single thing you actually cared about.....

Beneath all that stubborn blockheadedness, these two were undeniably sweet together. He was so completely smitten with her that he turned into a total crank the second she refused to cuddle him at night, and it was impossible not to laugh at a fully grown man pouting over a literal pillow wall dividing the bed. He asked her to tone things down, only to tossed-and-turned through miserable, sleepless nights like a grumpy baby denied of his favorite blankie lol...

Underneath all that outrageous drama, her genuine love for him shone through in how deeply she wanted to be seen and accepted for who she truly was. Once he finally woke up, ditched the corporate sellout mindset, and stepped up to be her partner again, their chemistry was absolute magic. The banter, the silly roleplays, and the effortless way they synchronized once he got his head out of his rear end were pure gold. My unhinged queen knows precisely how to inject pure, uncut ridiculousness into every single page, and if she decides to throw a dirty cheater into the meat grinder? Well who's complainin?!!Gimme all that juicy, ruthless schadenfreude baby(though you can all calm down, because this specific book had zero cheating in it)

“Got all that settled at home?” he asked, his beady little eyes gleaming at me. “Really showed that little lady who is boss? Women are good little creatures really. Pat on the ass and a kind word or two and they’ll do exactly what you want.”

(Ain't you just the big dog, Alpha-boy Van? Talkin' 'bout pattin' asses when your own ass is so well-trained it probably comes runnin' when she whistles. Who's a good alpha-boy? Who's been fetchin' slippers and rollin' over on command? That's right, sugar. You are! Yes you are..😌)

“Baby?” I asked. “You do forgive me, don’t you?” “Of course,” she said. “Well, aren’t you coming to bed?” “I will lie at the foot of the bed,” she said docilely. “That way you can have the whole thing, as befits a Man. Men deserve more, for they are our betters.” My blood ran cold, because not only was it pretty damn clear Bitsy did not in any way forgive me, but also if she spoke loud enough I risked her family coming in, throwing me in a sack, then drowning me in the river

(Poor baby learned the hard way that her family doesn't debate. They just drag you down stairs, ask how many pieces you prefer, and wait for her to nod. "Men are our betters" in that household means "we're about to show you exactly who's better and it ain't you, city slicker."💀💀)

“I’m really sorry for what I said about the lunches,” Chad said. “And your hair. And the house. And everything else. Let’s just pretend I never said it. I must have been stricken with temporary insanity.”

(Men and audacity are the only marriage that never ends in divorce. No power in the universe can separate a man from his absolute motherfucking audacity cause Men and audacity are the real star-crossed lovers, fated to bullshit together forever😌)

I’ll give this short book 4 stars because I laughed the whole way through this.

There’s no cheating or OW drama. There’s a tiny bit of OM drama but it’s mostly for laughs and doesn’t amount to anything.

Chad (or Chadley) wants the VP position at his job and he’s up for it with 2 other guys. His boss likes “traditional” women or tradwives. Chad is married to Bitsy and she’s not normal or traditional at all. lol
She always makes Chad special lunches 😂😂 I won’t spoil the first time you’re introduced to her special lunches she packs. She actually sounds amazing. I snorted when he opened his lunch box.

The bossman is coming to their house in a week to have dinner with them. Chad gets this bright idea to tell Bitsy she needs to be normal. He’s not that nice about it either. He does realize quickly he made a HUGE mistake.
She decides to give Chad just what he asked for.

Hilarious results!
Chad is the biggest idiot ever but man DOES HE GROVEL HARD!

Bitsy was hands down the best heroine ever in a betrayal book. The final dinner with the bossman had tears rolling down my face because I was laughing so hard.

Just the right book I needed for tonight.

Spoilers ahead

Chad is up for a big promotion, he's in competition with 2 other co workers, one in particular. His boss emphasises the importance of a man's role in his home and the correlation to the job. Chad's wife Bitzy isn't the type of traditional wife his boss wants, she's unique with an unusual sense of decorating and humour. He asks her to be more like his co worker's wife in front of his boss..... basically saying she's just too much. He doesn't mean it, he loves his wife and her special personality but Bitzy immediately makes his regret his rash choice of words.
***********

This author takes OTT and makes it her bitch. It takes a certain appreciation for a different brand of humour to get her books but I always crack up at her brand of crazy. It's always one heck of a ride. I do admit I got tired of the shenanigans a bit, this was no Bonemangler but once there's no cheating involved count me in for this authors books!!

Thoughts while reading
Not even AI could write a Katie Landry book I stg because wtf 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Her dad asking him if he doesn't like whimsy I almost peed...... Like where does this author come up with these things OMFG 😂😂😂😂😂

“You have ruined my birthday with your rampant misogyny,” Granny said angrily, shaking her cane in my face and I was forbidden a piece of birthday cake.

I'm fucking deceased, not granny too 🫠

Before we sat down, Bitsy produced a handkerchief and wiped off my seat, drinks table, and armrests.
“Here you go, your lordship,” she said again. “I hope it is all to your liking. I live only to serve you.”

Croc Food was a cute and sexy read by this new to me author. The story is about Chadley who is up for a promotion at his job, but his boss thinks Trad wives are the best and of course Chadley's wife Bitsy is anything but that. I loved Chadley and Bitsy together; they had great chemistry but my heart broke when he basically told her he wanted her to be a normal wife especially for the dinner with his boss. He knew pretty quickly that it's not what he wanted because he loved her exactly the way she was and that he was wrong to even suggest it, but Bitsy definitely made him sweat. It was so much fun to watch Chadley stress that his soulmate was going to leave him, although I did start to feel bad for him. Overall, this was a quick read that hit the spot for me, and I look forward to reading more books from this author.

This was honestly so good. OTT but heavens did I love Bitsy! Chad was an idiot who redeemed himself and I loved every bit of it. Everything was pure perfection.

The only book I've ever and will probably only read by this author (cheating just isn't my thing). But I saw this one didn't have any cheating or any OWD at all so I was all for it.

Of course the MMC's name is Chad lmfao he's been in love with Bitsy since the moment they saw each other in college but his workplace is full of performative misogynists, which isn't any better than misogynists. He was not interested in the drunk college party life, despite being in a fraternity, he really loved being with Bitsy and just spending time with her.

What I really liked about this is that Chad's actions and inner dialogue (outside of the disastrous conversation) was never disdainful or resentment towards his wife. It was obvious he was truly in love and obsessed with Bitsy. He admired her, her loved her creativity, and he supported her. He basically let her do whatever she wanted he was just happy to be there. Usually in the H's POV, it's always so embarrassing to see what he thinks of the h/his wife before he has the "epiphany." He NEVER makes any derogative or demeaning comments about her.

He fails to stick up for her in the beginning and he's immediately disgusted with himself. He makes up for it when he quits and says fuck this place and fuck you, after he gets the promotion.

Speaking of - what led to all of this. Chad is up for a promotion, his boss is a sexist pig (well..? LOL read it) and Chad is really stressed about this dinner since Bitsy is WAY out there. She's creative, expressive, colorful - his meals are always themed and she loves role play. And she goes all out with his lunches, I'm talking skull shaped rice with his teriyaki chicken lol

They were very cute together. Anyway, he tells her to be traditional and be more like his coworkers wife and Bitsy said 🙃 "say less oh great one, you are my superior." He immediately panics (and back pedals). And boy does she teach him a lesson.

I really liked that Bitsy didn't just let it drop. She took it OTT because that's who she is and made perfect sense. And it wasn't just this comment that pushed her over the edge.

I genuinely wish this was a full length novel or at least longer 😭 I would've loved to see what finally led Bitsy into this act because it's alluded that she's had to adjust her life (not herself) for him. And exploring her family dynamic more would've been SO fun. And seeing his stuck up parents on screen to just to show the difference. And it would've been great to explore Bitsy's work and I would've loved seeing her develop her business.

What I loved about them is that even when Betsy takes things too far, he still defends her. When the boss finally comes over for dinner they walk into a literal farm set up. She asked them to pick out the chicken themselves so she can kill it and start dinner from scratch 😂 the boss was like "wtf this isn't what I meant by trad wife" and Chad's like "to be fair, you didn't specify how far back you wanted to go." Chad doesn't get mad, yell at her, or blame her.

And because this story is so short I would've loved the spicy moments to have been longer than just sort of explaining it through. Chad and Bitsy love role playing and it would've been a so juicy to show the reader their relationship but also HILARIOUS dialogue could've come from it - ugh missed opportunity.

Zach was a hilarious addition. The antagonizing was next level. He and Bitsy teaming up too 💀

Random: one thing I didn't like was that use of "frat" lol I hate that I know this but the term frat is really only ever used by people who don't get into greek life. Members/pledges will get in trouble for saying "frat." It's always "fraternity."

A guy would never have said "he was in my frat" or "my frat bro." He would've just said "he was in my PC (pledge class)," or "he's was in the same fraternity as me" and if they are really close he'd just say "brother" or "fraternity brother." SO minor but it stuck out to me haha.

Anyway TLDR: I wish it was longer!

The couple: Chadley and Bitsy

Romance trope: grovel
Length: 86 pages

Plot: Chadley is doing his best to make partner at his firm, and while he loves his quirky wife Bitsy, he doesn't think she has the image his boss wants. When he suggests that to her though, she takes a hint and takes off. Chadley realizes that isn't what he wants but now he has to win her back.

Commentary: Over the top ridiculousness ala Olivia Turner and Jessa Kane but with better writing. There is a quick turn around in the groveling, although the heroine does hold out until the very end. It is a novella, after all, and there just isn't that much time for anything, although you probably wouldn't want it to go on too long. This was a funny, quick read!

The punishment didn't fit the crime on this one. Yes, Chad was a shithead and absolutely should have phrased his request better (better yet, he shouldn't have asked it at all), but he wasn't nearly as disrespectful as most of Landry's heroes. He absolutely was in the wrong, and you should never be embarrassed by your partner, but he realized the mistake fairly quickly, and I felt like both he and Bitsy should have spoken more before she went all scorched earth and considered divorcing him.

What an absolute ridiculous and funny book. The H said some pretty awful things about the h personality that didn’t fit with his job, and he soon realized how wrong he was from having such thoughts.

Funny to see a marriage in trouble without the owd.
Some omd with H colleague and friend who tells the H that he want to make a move on the h when the h leaves him.

Katie does it again!👑

I loved this one, I loved that there wasn’t a ton of angst this time and tbh, probably my favorite couple she’s written so far.

We have Bitsy, the whimsi goth who grew up in the bayou and her corporate pretty boy husband, Chadley who adores her uniqueness but makes mistakes in order to please his boss and to climb the corporate ladder. Which in result damages his marriage, understandably so.

I loved these two so much haha. Was Chad a total Chad for the things he said? Absolutely. With that said, I think he was absolutely head over heels for his little non-traditional wife and I’m so happy they eventually reconciled. Opposites attract is one of my favorite tropes, and these two were so beyond opposites, but also completed each other.

Knowing he probably made his meatloaf has me cackling, iykyk.🤣🤭

If you’re looking for good banter, a himbo husband mmc, and a wild FMC who gives him exactly what he asks for, pick this up. The angst is low for Katie, I appreciated this, and picks up in the banter and a dash of thrill from the bayou.

Spice is a 1.5-2 but the roleplaying was such a 👩🏻‍🍳 🤌🏼💋 addition to the novella. 🤭

Tropes:
🐊 MF romance
✨ Betrayal/Grovel
🐊 Opposites Attract
✨ Other Man Drama
🐊 Unappreciated Wife
✨ Roleplaying
🐊 Prat Bro x Whimsi Goth
✨ OTT Grovel
🐊 Workplace Drama

Also, can I just say that the next book (sneak peek at the end) sounds SO good! Omg I can’t wait!👏🏼

This is one of this author's fun books. The h and H are married. The H is one of three colleagues competing for a VP position at a golf club. The h is a kinky and quirky free spirit who creates skeletons with balls of white rice for her husband's lunch. He loves her playfulness until his boss makes some comments about the importance of proving management skills by handling your wife. The H suggests that the h tone it down while he's in competition for the VP position. The h does a 180 and becomes a tradwife. The H is horrified and doesn't want this version of her in their private life. Despite his copious apologies, the h holds true to her performance. The h's eccentric family threaten to make the H into croc food.

I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a complimentary copy. Chad was competing for a promotion with 2 other guys at the Whispering Sycamores Golf Course; his boss believes in Trad wives. Chad is married to Bitsy, and she does not have a traditional bone in her body. She is quirky, fun, and very talented; she packs Chad's lunch in a very spooky way - loved it. Chad makes the big mistake of asking Bitsy to tone it down and behave like a Trad wife until he can get his promotion.

This is where Chad's life takes a turn; boy, Bitsy gives it to him with the help of her just as quirky family. Chad is now begging to be let back into her good graces, but she is making him work for it. Overall, cute, quirky short story about a man who learned his lesson.

who knew the golf course management world was so cutthroat?

This was such a goofy, absurd novella, and I loved it. Croc Food is a wonderful time about an idiot who puts his foot in his mouth and his career in front of his wife, and he rightfully gets taken down a peg for it. Bitzy is petty about it and doesn’t give him an inch to breathe until he fully owns his mistake, and it creates a wonderful dynamic where you see where they really do fit well, and you root for Chad to stop being an idiot. I love watching a pathetic man cry and Katie Landry does it oh so well. Very fun and well worth the read!

I'll read anything this author writes. These books are hilarious and cringeworthy at times, but I love them. I had secondhand embarrassment for Chadley, (Chadley, really?) but I still ate this shit up. I like that the drama happened up front so we get the snot-nosed grovel for the rest of the book. The rich city boy gets just what he wants. Bitzy changes her entire personality to the trad wife he THINKS he wants. He ends up hating it and his life falls to shit. I love it when they suffer!

This was such a short and hilarious novella! I have really come to love the betrayal-grovel books because of Katie Landry.
Chadley is totally outmatched when it comes to his wife. I love Bitsy! A quirky and original character is our Bitsy. All hail the Queen of Petty. Bitsy!! She had (almost) laughing out loud which was not a good thing because it was naptime at the daycare.
Thank you, Katie Landry, for turning me into a betrayal-grovel addict. These stories make my day so much better and I cannot get enough of them!

This was OTT ridiculous fun I’ve come to expect from Landry. Nothing to take seriously, just raunchy silliness.

My only complaint was there was quite a few times scenes abruptly ended and suddenly we’re somewhere else. Like Chad leaves with his boss after the dinner to take him back to the office but suddenly Chads walking up to his bosses house and hears him making dinner for his wife. Her family lives 18 hours away, but when Chad and his boss come for dinner her dad is on the porch? And then her brothers are there?

I absolutely loved this. It was hilarious and bitsy was my kind of petty 🤣. Now did I get the MCs pov a bit, yes,and there were times i was like girl chill, he loves you he's a stupid man in a frat boy job working hard for the money lol, but then I thought nahhhhh if this was me I would be the same way, if not worse which so I continued to laugh on and let bitsy egg him on with pettyness to see the error of his ways (and his boss). This was lighter on the angst than her other stories, but the grovel was top tier. It was a fun read for sure.

Notes for me

Novella

Chad - frat bro trying to get a promotion to VP

Bitsy - runs a cafe. Very eclectic

Chad and two of his frat bros are in the running for a VP job. Their boss is very old fashioned about marriage. One guy isn’t married, one has the perfect trad wife then there is Bitsy.

They met in college and Chad loved that Bitsy did not care what people thought. Now he’s concerned her blue hair and love of all things goth will take him out of the running.

He asks her to be more like the trad wife. She says sure then leaves him and heads home to the bayou.

Great short story!!

If you’re looking for a quick, very satisfying, funny story then I highly recommend reading this one!
Bitzy was absolutely amazing and it was so funny the way she reacted to Chad wanting her to change around his boss so he could get a promotion.
I’m still laughing at the hilarious stuff that happened in this story.
I would highly recommend reading this book, it’ll leave you laughing long after you finish it.

man obsessed

God I love a good short book where the FMC gets her revenge in a good petty way and this hit the spot so perfectly! Also can we appreciate how obsessed this man is and he realizes his mistake from having a bad night sleep of not being able to cuddle with his wife and things just go down hill from there. I love a whipped man but this book was just absolute perfection! I want there meet cute story in full!!

As with other Katie Landry stories my only complaint is that is too short and I could keep reading about her characters forever. Several LOL moments which I'm never expecting in a grovel and betrayal story but their always so good. There were also some super steamy moments between Bitsy and Chad that I really enjoyed. All in all it was such a good palette cleanser between heavier reads.

Just what I needed! Something so ridiculous and funny😂
No cheating or OW at all in this one. Just misogyny at its finest and stupid husband who tries to change his wife to “look better” for him to get a promotion at work. Yeah that didn’t work out to well for him!
Loved the h and her family😂
Loved the dinner where she acted like a proper wife for his boss😂
Good grovel and of course HEA

I love Bitsy, she might be my spirit animal. I think this is my favorite Katie Landry so far.
I wasn't crying with laughter but, I did LOL a lot.

Chad is trying to earn a promotion, so he asks his free-spirited wife to tone down the weirdness. She is so compliant to his request that he regrets it immensely. A point made for be careful what you ask for because you just might get it. What ensues is hilarious grovel.

Katie's books always make me smile at her ridiculous MMCs and the poor FMCs that put up with them.
