"A spooktacular slice of fun!" - Rob Biddulph, award-winning author and creator of DRAW WITH ROB
When Ghost arrives at a haunted mansion, what he doesn't expect to find is a talking slice of bread. Introducing . . . Toast! But Ghost can't remember anything from before becoming a ghost, so the unlikely duo team up to solve the mystery - though they may get distracted along the way . . .
From hordes of evil pastries to ghost trains, to giant kittens and gingerbread houses, their adventures are never stale. But the conniving Croissant will stop at nothing to cause complete, confectionary chaos - will Ghost and Toast be able to resist their sugary temptation for mayhem?
A witty and wacky new story, perfect for fans of BUNNY VS MONKEY, DONUT SQUAD and PABLO & SPLASH.
Son 6 years old: 5* - it's the best book ever, it's really good. Daughter 9 years old: 5* - it was really funny, and it was really creative. Daughter 11 years old: 5* - i think the concepts came together well and it was a very interesting and funny book Daddy: 5* - it was very funny, my favourite character was toast. He was a really positive guy. Mummy: 5* - throughout the book it was funny and engaging, definitely managed to keep the children quite and focused. The fact a evil croissant is part of the story is an instant winner. Plus the massive cat! What else could you ask for.
This is an interesting kind of book and it made my daughter and me divided by opinion.
So basically, it's about Toast, a piece of bread, and his friend Ghost. This graphic novel is brightly and colourfully illustrate. This is what we agreed.
Toast aspires to become a writer, so he plans to write stories about his adventures with Ghost. Readers will follow their story starting with Ghost Arrives, Train Trip (her fav) and Home Sweet Home (my fav).
I like Ghost because, in my opinion, he is more logical, no-nonsense and aware of his surroundings. But for my 9 yo, she prefers Toast: cheerful, playful and funny. 1 second Toast confirms it can be on stealth mode the next second it makes a loud crunch!🥴😂
My daughter finds this book funny and silly, which I can't really grasp. I like the idea of the sugar architect and sustainable candy house, while she giggles at a big kitten blocking a train set!
I enjoy this discussion with my daughter and I can see why and how we readers came to this point. This book made her come up with her own opinion.
I can say this book is likeable by kids. My daughter is already wondering when Book 2 is coming because the biggest question by Ghost (and the readers) has not been answered yet😅. Thank you #Pansing for this book.
👻 🍞 Ghost and Toast by Phil Corbett 🍞 👻 ‘Ones dead and one’s bread’
🍞 I’ve had such a giggle reading this graphic novel tonight after being recommended to read it by The Rebel Reading Society.
👻 The humour is on point and I adore the facial expressions of the characters throughout. There are some real laugh-out-loud moments and know that my class are going to be to absolutely love it tomorrow.
🍞 Follow Ghost and Toast as they reminisce, explore and dodge evil croissants. I love the banter between them. Mr Borloff was very funny too. I’m already looking forward to the next instalment… 👻
I loved this! It made me proper laugh! I love the really vivid and bold illustration style. The anthology-esque style that this comes in as you get to learn Ghost and Toast proper made me chuckle. I can’t wait for more!
