This is a hell of a collection.

The opening paragraph of this is vile, the 3rd story broke me, highly recommend you read it!

This is a collection of short stories that touch on animal abuse, women’s healthcare, police brutality, AI, and cyber bullying. All with feminine rage/revenge!

WOW! My first 5 star read within this genre and it was so well deserved.

There are 5 (plus a bonus) short stories within this book. All about different issues happening in the world twisted into a revenge story:

1. Animal abuse - this broke my heart! That opening paragraph was just too much. And the rainbow bridge😭
2. No abortion laws, Adriana Smith
3.Police brutality, using their authority against women
4. Billionaires using too much water for AI
5. Online bullying and the consequences of not being behind the keyboard

The writing was amazing as always but just the meaning behind these stories..man..it’s a heavy hitter!!

The little palette cleanser story at the end had me wheezing..trying to read out all the different sneezes to the hubby was an utter shit show!🤣

Can’t wait to see what she will put out next, absolutely love her work🖤

This book broke me from start to finish. But mostly the start, the first story for an animal lover that has two dogs was a brutal start to this heartbreaking, feminine rage and revange filled book.

Every story is a reminder of the harsh and mostly unforgiving world we live in. Turning a Blind eye syndrome spreads like a plauge while those that are affected suffer and carry a burden that can never be erased.

This book is the gut wrenching thought, the blood curdling scream and the vile feeling of never being clean because of actions of those that see others as less. It makes you want to throw it at every person that somewhere found the audacity to take away, silence or simply dismiss the terrors that are very much happening in front of our very own eyes daily.

Hats of to the author for finding a way to address the harsh truths within her craft of writing.

Are these stories hard to digest? Yes. But that's the point. Each and every topic was researched thoroughly and delves into the depravity in this world. Feminine revenge at its absolute best, written achingly well and hauntingly accurate.
Be warned, you are thrown in headfirst on the first page. Much like the victims of the atrocities touched on in each and every story.

Summary: A collection of extreme horror/splatterpunk that is disturbing, horrific and parts absolutely heartbreaking - oh, and gory!

Review: What an absolutely incredible collection of stories. These are extreme, horrific and perfect for this genre. The author does put a trigger warning section in the back if this is something you need with your reading, however as with any extreme horror, pretty much anything goes and this is allllll in here. Brilliant, I need more from them!

I have read every single book RJ has put out but this one was just not it. This review is not about the subject of the short stories.

The writing style of this collection was really different. There were tons of unnecessary run-on sentences, as well as weird grammatical errors (such as referring to a dog's teeth as k-9s not canines).

There was also a massive influx of improper em dashes.

I will always be an RJ Powell fan. However, this collection felt very inauthentic in terms of a classic RJ Powell banger and almost felt like parts had the help of generative AI.

As for the stories, the one right before the bonus short story was my favorite.

This collection can be summed up in one word: consequence.

Powell puts women at the center of every story, specifically the women who have had enough. What follows is a reckoning. Violence, bodily autonomy, the abuse of authority, bullying, the unchecked power of men in positions that were never meant to be weaponized, and yes, even Mother Nature herself getting a turn to settle the score.

These are not quiet stories and certainly not polite.

As always, Powell delivers.
