A brand-new town. A brand-new dream. A body behind the shed.
Riley Hart arrives in Clover Creek chasing a fresh start and her dream of opening a dog-grooming shop. Instead, she finds Preston Hale dead behind the shed, her missing shears in his chest.
Now the town’s newest resident is the most convenient suspect, and clearing her name means asking questions no one wants answered.
Riley has her own list of a struggling florist watching her life's work crumble under Preston's thumb, and a contractor Preston owed money to.
In a town like this, curiosity can be dangerous. But with her true-crime-loving bestie Dani and her people-savvy dog Sunny by her side, Riley is not digging alone.
The deeper she digs, the clearer it someone in this town has killed before, and will do anything to keep it secret.
If Riley can’t uncover the truth in time, she won’t just lose her dream… she may not survive.
I just finished reading the prequel and the first book in the Riley Hart series and I enjoy every minute of both books. This was the first time that I have read anything by Brooklyn Wells, and I loved how she gets you to know her main characters and how they work together. Riley and Dani both have very different ways of approaching a problem, but they do keep coming up with the same answers. Riley just wants to open a dog grooming shop, and she just may get her wish with the help from old great aunt that she didn’t even know. When she inherits the aunt’s home and all her assets. All Dani wants to do is do podcasts and try to turn everything into something that she can make into a story. If you enjoying reading about the problem that happen on any given day and like to see how other would solve the problem, then this the series for you. I can’t wait to see what happens next with these young ladies.
