Ok. Greg is a piece of sh*t. He has built a web of lies around him like a house of cards ready to come tumbling down. Natasha lives in denial. Neither one of them know how to have a conversation. Eli knew. Greg knew. Natasha found out. Eli and Greg both knew that she knew. And, not a single full conversation was had?

I will say the story was interesting enough to keep me reading, but I expected...more. It kept building up tension just to slowly deflate like a pool float with a pinhole. Why was Natasha even scared of Greg at all? He lied, yes. But he never raised a voice or implied any sort of impending harm. Then Simone shows up, and you're expecting her to be, I don't know, crazy in some way? Capable of flying off the handle? I certainly didn't expect her to show up and the 3 of them just to stand there and look at each other. And still not have a conversation.

The whole kidnapping storyline felt irrelevant. I kept expecting Greg to have had something to do with it or something, but nope. It's just another built-up thing to not really be anything.

Definitely not a bad read. It was fast paced and interesting, just feel it could have been more.

A fine story.

Tension.
Rising, waiting.
Deflating.
Repeating.
A family. Fractured.
A moderately happy ending.

The Things We Hide is a domestic psychological thriller. The story really grips you from the beginning and the pacing is pretty fast keeping you addicted. I did not like Greg's character at all. Right from the beginning he was giving off secretive, deceitful vibes and it doesn't take long to find out why. When his secretive is uncovered by his son, he basically threatens the revealing anything to his mother will cost him his whole family. I thought that was so manipulative to put that kind of pressure on a teenage kid, to keep a secret like that. Natasha however... I don't know. She seems like she just overlooked everything while paying attention to every little detail. As the story builds, so does the tension and anticipation of the secrets being revealed. The story was leading up to something big. Something involving a life altering incident in Natasha's life.... and then... it fell flat. I felt like the whole story built up to this one moment and then it wasn't really anything worth building up to. Up until this point, the story had me by the throat... we were rolling full steam ahead and then came full stop for nothing.
I would say... this story is worth a read. It is well written and captivating. I was just let down by the direction the story took.

Greg rents an isolated waterfront house to help him and Natasha fix things.
they get trapped on the storm-covered island, Greg begins to unravel his kids and Natasha start watching and they feel that something is wrong.

Greg didnt want to fix his family but storms isolate the roads.
will they get off or be stuck on the road.

This book had me wondering about what was behind each character from the beginning!! It was well written. When people hide secrets within a marriage, there’s bound to be problems. This one was no different!! Secrets always come out!! It’s what we do with them after they surface that matters most!! I loved this book and it ended as it should have ended had it been a true story!! Who’s to say it wasn’t true???

I was drawn in fairly quickly. Trying to fix thing with your family Greg? I don’t think so. He had the family on a island to bring them together and make them stronger but secrets start to become evident. This was a great psychological thriller that kept the tension going. Great cover by the way!

This was so intense. And Greg was a shady and twisted. Things weren’t going to stay hidden much longer. I absolutely loved how this pulled me in so quickly and kept me gripping my iPad. The twists and turns were amazing. This was a very thrilling read.

Lies will always ruin something. That's the case with Greg, who thought he was protecting his family. He should've just told the truth from the beginning. I got sad when Eli had to take the role of protector instead of being a child. In the end, it was a good read and the pacing was good.
