A fun story about twin cities with a crazy rivalry. Ally comes to help watch her 8 year old identical twin boy cousins with her grandmother for a few weeks while their mom is away for her job. Well, they may look identical, but she soon finds out one is sweet and obedient while the other is a terror! While attending an event at the fairgrounds-bathing the beloved goat mascot named Karen and getting to see him (yes him) afterwards-twin terror sneaks away. He finds Karen and with a stolen (from home) electric razor, manages to carve initials in the goat's fur! Unfortunately, they are his cousin's initials! Police are called and punishment determined. Since Ally was discovered trying to mitigate the damage, she was also considered a villain deserving punishment. The arresting officer is a kind young man who soon has punishment and pleasure to plan. Lots of details in this book (at times too many), endless reminders of rivalry, and multiple examples of "punishment activities" that I found repetitive. I would have given it 5 stars if the story didn't seem too stretched out in places. Even so, I enjoyed this different approach to a small town romance story.
I absolutely loved Ally and her dedication and determination to give her all to everything she does. She’s helpful, sweet, and hilariously clumsy, which made her impossible not to love. And then in walks Officer Riley... Um, SWOON MUCH?! Who doesn’t love a man in uniform? Especially one who knows exactly what he wants and goes about wooing her in the most charming ways possible!
I loved the banter, the connections, and all the little “rivalries” sprinkled throughout the story. The chemistry between these two was just so much fun to watch unfold!
This was such a sweet, fun, feel-good rom-com with all the cozy fall vibes. If you’re looking for a cute fall read with plenty of laughs, swoon-worthy moments, and a romance that will make you grin, definitely add this one to your TBR!
