A Study in Amber
Sherry Holmes is a young, wanna-be private eye in 21st century San Francisco. Her adoptive mother, a not-so-famous Hollywood actress, says she comes by her desire to solve crimes naturally since she’s related to her namesake, the famous fictional character Sherlock Holmes.
Sherry has set herself up in a flat in a Victorian house owned by her grandmother. She hopes to attract some of her ancestor’s talent by decorating her flat to look nearly identical to Sherlock’s Baker Street digs, which she had once visited on a trip to London. So she’s surprised but not shocked when she soon finds Sherlock’s ghost has taken up residence in her newly decorated flat and is demanding to know who she is and what she is doing in his rooms.
This awkward situation is eventually resolved and Sherlock reluctantly settles down to his new reality. He’s very skeptical, though, when Sherry tells him of her new vocation of private detective and challenges her to prove that she has some detecting talent. Thanks to a freshly discovered murder in the neighborhood, she takes up the challenge with the help of her granny, Tessa Reynolds, and the local handyman, Mark Watson, alias Doc (no kidding!).
As a ghost, Sherlock discovers he has severe restrictions: he can’t be seen, heard, or felt by anyone except Sherry and, worse, he can’t physically leave the flat. So he must rely on Sherry to explain what clues she has found and what she makes of them. Sherlock, of course, being the master detective, has many questions and suggestions for her and ultimately proves very useful in helping her solve this crime while the police are still trying to work things out.

I liked certain parts of this book. The ideal of Holmes as a ghost was very well done.
Apparently Sherry Holmes is supposed to be his great-granddaughter. The most interesting character is Sherry grandmother. I loved her personality.
The downside of the book, is the plot. It was a little thin and predictable. Fans of Holmes, which I definitely am, will not consider this a great Holmes story.

Trite and flat
Sherlock Holmes would be ashamed.
Flat characters and a very thin plot make this one of worst derivative works if Sherlock Holmes.
This writer was lazy, giving no valid reason for any of the plot turns. I am not impressed.

Sherlock Holmes meets Nancy Drew
A light take on a Sherlock Holmes type story which has a ghost, a senior, Doc Watson and a young woman who believes she is a direct descendant of the famous detective. Some humour, a good plot and characters that brim with life - even the ghost!
She has always believed that she was a descendant of Sherlock Holmes and has recreated her apartment to look exactly like his rooms as well as aspiring to because detective. What she doesn't expect is the ghost of Sherlock Holmes to suddenly appear. The two banter and a bet is made about who can solve the next crime. But what crime? The crime of murder which happened in an empty apartment not far away. As she sets of to investigate they discover that he can't venture out so her Grandmother accompanies her. Her silver tongue has been known to work wonders. Throw in too few blood stains, a rucksack, newspaper articles of a death in Chicago, a purloined phone and the help of the local handyman - Doc Watson. Can the three with ghostly help solve the murder? Or was it really a murder?

Interesting take on the Holmes genre
I recently saw a video with a story line about Holme’s sister, so I saw this and thought it might be interesting. Premise is someone who believes she is the descendant of Sherlock Holmes and lives in modern times. Her fascination leads her to recreate Holme’s study, and the ghost of Sherlock is visible and speaks to her but no one else can see or hear him. She sees herself as a potential private investigator, and takes on a mystery, with her Aunt and a handyman who happens to be named Watson. First mystery is has a decent twist to it.

Cute entertaining reading 📚
A Sherlock Holmes novella with a twist, he now is a ghost 👻in San Francisco. The novella is will written with interesting characters. The story line is complicated with twist and turns leading to the conclusion. I would recommend this novella to Holmes fans. Enjoy reading 🔰2020 👒

The premise is good. The great granddaughter of Sherlock Holmes (from the wrong side of the blanket) meets the ghost of the great detective after she does up her living room in a similar fashion to his. Together they solve a local murder.
Unfortunately, the plot and characters aren’t developed as well as they could have been.

Better than what I expected
This was a quick and easy book, where he story seemed to flow perfectly. The fact that this book made me smile in places and even laugh was enough for me to purchase the other two books in the series.

Easy, fast and funny read! I like Sherlock Holmes in a movie played by Robert. He was great in that role play and that’s how I portrayed this one. It was fast with solving this case. Probably thanks to Holmes.
