Ahoy, mateys! Set sail for fun and adventure on a pirate ship full of puppies.
Fighting like cats and dogs? Exactly! The puppy pirates played a prank on the kitten pirates, and meow! The kittens sure are mad. Can the pups escape the kittens’ claws? It’s dog vs. cat, and may the best pirates win.
Two perennial kid favorites—dogs and pirates—combine in the new chapter book series perfect for fans of Rainbow Magic, Jake and the Neverland Pirates, and Paw Patrol.
I read and write lots of funny, adventurous, & heartwarming books for kids, tweens, and teens (and even a few romantic comedies for adults, too!) that are ultimately about finding your place, finding your people, and finding your voice. I always love book recommendations, so please send them my way. As a reader, I'm partial to contemporary romantic comedy, thrillers that keep the pages turning and have well-built characters, funny/original voices, quirky characters, and always kids' books with humor and heart.
This one was pretty cute. When I was asked if I wanted to read and review it, I couldn't help but say yes. Because of that adorable cover. Sigh. I love it. Such cute animals :D Plus the book sounded pretty fun too. It is the third one in this series, but I didn't read the first ones. Don't think I needed to either.
I'm giving this one three stars, as I liked it lots, but I didn't love it. The writing was okay, not the best, but I enjoyed it even so. There are some really, really beautiful illustrations in this book. And I loved looking at those. All the animals were so cute. Dogs and cats wearing clothes and shoes. So adorable.
This review of mine is not going to be all that long, because this book is pretty short. Just about eighty pages, and so easy and fast to read. I liked that it wasn't too long. I liked that it told one adventure. I would like to read the other books one day, I think. Because this one was pretty cute. I also think a lot of kids and just everyone would adore these books. Because they are easy to read and there are some really gorgeous black and white illustrations inside, lol. I liked looking at them a lot. And, again, that cover is awesome. So cute in person too. I also liked reading about the dogs. Many different ones, and they all seemed pretty amazing. They are all dogs and cats, except for one human boy with the dogs, one girl with the cats.
Catnapped tells the story of puppy pirates who gets kidnapped by cats. It is from the point of view of Wally, whom was a pretty cute dog. I liked reading about some of the other dogs too, like the scared one. And the two sisters as well. They liked to prank the cats, which did not go very well for them. This was a cute story, though I didn't love it. But it was a fast and easy read. And I'm glad that I read it. Don't really have more to say about it than that, because it was so short. But yeah. You should all read it :)
Wally and his Puppy Pirate pals have found themselves in a bit of furry trouble. After playing a prank on the Kitten Pirates, the kitties retaliate by catnapping some of the puppies. It’s Puppy Pirate versus Kitten Pirate in this hi jinx filled book!
Combining two awesome things- pirates and cute animals- Erin Soderberg’s Puppy Pirates is a rollicking, super fun series that young readers will find absolutely amusing and addicting! Catnapped is full of silly humor, endearing characters, and exciting adventure. With an easy-to-follow story, engaging storytelling, and eye-catching illustrations, this book is perfect for both independent reading and read-aloud story time.
Readers of all ages will be charmed by Wally and his pals, delighted by the wild world of pirates, and eager to climb aboard both the Salty Bone and this series!
Soderberg, Erin Catnapped! (Puppy Pirates #3), illustrated by Russ Cox. CHAPTER BOOK. Random House, 2016. $4.99.
The puppy pirates have played a trick on their enemies the cats, and the embarrassed kitties are out to avenge their wounded pride. Those playful puppies are in for it now!
This installment in the early chapter book series is a whole lot of fun. It's especially enjoyable to experience the kitten pirates' world for a while. The suspense of wondering if the two pirate factions can resolve their differences adds a healthy (but not scary) dose of suspense for young children.
I love this series, with its tight plots and well-defined characters. My four year old loves it too. It delivers adventure, but none of the "scary" pirate stuff. And who doesn't love a good kitten-puppy rivalry story?
(4☆ Would recommend) This is a fun book for elementary kids. My son is 7-years-old & I think he will love this book. It has adventure, fun, & lessons. Cite book.
My daughter and I both wrote reviews for this book.
Miss K's review: The pug twins played a prank on the Siamese cats! The puppy pirates and kitten pirates are ready to fight. The captain Lucinda the Loud said the pug twins played a prank on Moopsy and Boopsy. The pugs giggled. Moopsy and Boopsy are the funniest names for Siamese cats. Just then the sprinklers turned on. The cats climbed trees. The puppy pirates ran quickly to the ship. A group of dogs heard a sound. A net came out of the tree above them. The kittens grabbed the net and went back to the ship. The cats put the group of dog friends in the dungeon. Find out how the group of friends escape in this adventure of dog vs cats book. I like this book because there is lots of adventure and fun.
My review: It’s so nice to see a chapter book that is both cute and adventurous. This series can work for both boys and girls. My kids have always liked cute and cuddly themes, but they also like pirates and adventure, so this was a perfect fit for them.
When the puppy pirates play a prank on the pirate kittens, the kittens retaliate by catnapping some of the puppies. It’s every paw for themselves in this dog vs cat adventure. We haven’t read the other books in the series, but this book worked well enough on its own. It’s not a life-changing read, but it’s fun, easy to read, and has lots of pictures.
If your kids like pirates, animals, and adventure, this is a good book.
This book was adorable! I'm always on the lookout for transition books, those stories that bring young readers from picture books into the world of chapter books. When I was offered Puppy Pirates: Catnapped! for review, I eagerly snatched it up! Pirates, puppies and kittens? I'm honestly not sure there's anything more adorable to be added.
While this book is the third in a series, it's not hard to pick it up and just start reading along. I was introduced to the crew of The Salty Bone, a pirate ship full of adorable puppies and one lucky little boy. Sailing the seas, having all manner of adventures, and getting into the type of mischief that will made young readers giggle with delight. I admit, I'm an adult and I was smiling. It's hard not to.
The balance between illustrations and story are spot on, as are the length of the chapters themselves. I picture this as the perfect story to read before bed over a few evenings. It even has that sweet little lesson that comes along with most books aimed at this age group, and it isn't too heavy handed. Final verdict? Adorable! I'd recommend this to readers in transition who love adventure and excitement!
I haven't read the other books in this series, but still had a lot of fun with this one. I have a daughter who is very into animals and any story with animals as the main characters, is a winner for her. We both read and enjoyed this book. I think cats and dogs have been enemies since the beginning of time and was a joy to see them portrayed as pirates!
The dogs are in a bit of trouble after pranking the cats and find themselves kidnapped, or rather, catnapped. There are many silly moments, including a bit of potty humor, as well as some adventurous scenes. The illustrations are engaging and spur the imagination. The animals have such unique personalities and we quickly found our favorites. I learned a lot about pirates--mostly through the lingo used and explained. Any child who loves these combinations will find himself enthralled with this book.
Creative, imaginative, and humorous, this is a great series for a young reader and parents alike!
*I received a copy in exchange for an honest review*
The puppy pirates played a prank on the kitten pirates, and now the kitten pirates are trying to capture the puppy pirates. When four of the puppy pirates get captured and taken onto the kitten pirate ship, the rest of their crew cannot save them. Can the four miserable puppies find a way out? Read the book to find out. This book is a good book. You should read it. I really like this book.
