Soldier’s Reckoning is the conclusion to the Storm Captain series. The Captain and her crew are on the trail of the Sect, a group of corrupt wardens responsible for terrible experiments on people in an effort to create new wardens, but the Sect are ready for them. The raid on the research facility goes horribly wrong when the Sect spring their trap to break the Captain once and for all.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was great to see the Captain and Benji fully embrace their powers, and Alyssa was awesome as always. We get to see a more vulnerable side to her in this book when she and the Captain are separated, but it doesn’t stop her from decimating the enemy. Jonathan continues to be a sunny delight and I’d quite like to adopt him please.

As always, the pacing is great and the writing compelling. The final confrontation brings together all of the side characters we’ve met in the previous three books in a very satisfying conclusion. I can’t say more in case of spoilers, but I would definitely recommend this book. It would be difficult to read as a standalone, so make sure you’ve read the first three in the series before diving in.

Thank you to E L Reeves for the ARC!
