I am a huge fan of fantasy novels and I was not disappointed by Cari Silver's Magience.

Magience tells the story of Ellinca, who thinks she's a mage, but isn't sure. Who also lives in a land where it's illegal to be a mage and the fastest way to die. Not only does Ellinca have to save herself from the worst bad guy in the world(Silver calls him Frope, but I have other names I'd rather use), but she finds herself in the middle of trying to stop a war and surrounded by all sorts of creatures that help to keep her life interesting.

There is not a dull moment in Magience and such a wonderful world of characters, creatures, folklore and legends come together and will draw the reader into their world.

Enter the magical world of Magience a fantasy novel by Cari Silver. If this is only her first fantasy YA novel I'm extremely excited to see what she writes next.

This fast paced story is about a young girl called Ellinca and her quest to find out who/what she is as well as a cat and mouse game with the villain Hilas Frope. Ellinca's journey is filled with adventure, mystery, betrayal, magic and loyalty that will leave the reader wanting more as well as shouting out loud like I did with a certain scene in the book crying out 'NOOO...! How could she (Ms Silver) do that!!'

What makes this book unique compared to all the other books in this genre is the imagination of the author in the use of magical terms such as Trinkettons, Tuskdogs,Gheist guardians and Gheist pistols so it makes this story stand out amongst other fantasy books.The glossary makes it easier for people who find things hard to visualise or are new to the fantasy genre.

There are plenty of lovable, endearing characters that Ellinca meets along the way and its easy to see their development as characters and the development of their relationship between each other due to the descriptive writing. I believe the characters will give Ms Silver plenty of scope to make this book into a series. Each character has their own backstory that I desperately need to read! (PLEASE.....I will nag you until you've no more characters in this series to write about)

I would recommend this book to everyone who loves not just YA books but fantasy, action and adventure. This is a must read for everyone I'd highly recommend it and I'm looking forward to reading more of Cari Silver work.
