Opposites attract when a sex podcaster finds herself along for the ride with a paranormal investigative group in this “X-Files meets Twister” rom com.

Daisy Bennett desperately needs something new. When her sex & culture podcast starts losing steam, the last thing she expects is to spend the summer crammed into an RV with a crew of paranormal investigators chasing Bigfoot across the Southwest. It’s supposed to be an entertaining comeback story - follow the believers, record the chaos, and generate some new buzz.

Miles Adler has spent his life searching for answers most people laugh at. As the leader of a small field research team dedicated to unexplained phenomena, he’s used to skeptics. He’s not used to Daisy - the sharp-witted podcaster with a talent for getting under his skin and making him question whether some mysteries are worth solving. What’s worse, she actually listens to him.

As banter turns into late-night campfire conversations, and endless desert highways give way to hidden canyons and forgotten forests, the line between professional and personal begins to blur. Beneath the jokes and the theories, both Daisy and Miles are hiding parts of themselves they'd rather keep buried. After all, it's easier to chase mysteries than risk being truly known.

But when rival investigators threaten everything Miles and his team have built, Daisy must decide what matters more: the story that could save her career… or the people who have started to feel like home.

Sometimes the scariest thing isn't what's hiding in the woods. It's being seen for who you really are.

Silent Shadows is the first book in the Strange Terrain series - a swoony, slow-burn paranormal romance featuring opposites attract, forced proximity, found family, witty banter, road trips, cryptids, Bigfoot, hidden secrets, adventurous expeditions, and plenty of romantic tension.

thank you katie west + LoveNotes PR for the arc ✧
releases september 1, 2026!

guys idkkkkk
looks like i’m the anomaly here but i’m gonna stand on it

i have really mixed feelings about this one because there were ideas here that i genuinely loved!! the commentary surrounding the paranormal side of the story was probably my favorite part. there’s this consistent conversation about the vastness + weirdness of the world and how close minded humans can be when we assume that what we know is all there is ~ love love love. it felt like the kind of conversation you’d have with your friends that could genuinely challenge the way someone thinks in real life. i especially loved watching that happen within the story, as characters challenged each other’s perspectives and became more willing to sit in that space of maybe there’s more out there than we understand!!!

my biggest struggle was that so much of the character + relationship development felt very tell rather than show. this entire book was “tell tell tell” never genuine connection through reading or “showing”.. daisy + miles have an almost immediate connection, and from there the story repeatedly tells us through their inner monologues how much they’re “connecting”, how great the other person is, how much tension exists between them + how deeply they understand one another. but their actual interactions are largely banter and jokes, so i kept waiting for the conversations and moments that would make me understand why they felt this strongly about each other, I guess?? & the romance was described as a slow burn(??), i wanted the emotional intimacy, tension + vulnerability to build on page before the relationship progressed. instead, the connection was established almost instantly and i never felt like the writing fully showed me what had earned that level of attachment

overall, i loved the ideas behind this book more than i loved their execution. the paranormal premise was fun, some of the conversations surrounding belief + the unknown genuinely stuck with me, and i could see the depth the story was reaching for. i just kept wanting it to actually SHOW me that depth through its characters, relationships + development rather than telling me it was already there ♡

*ARC REVIEW*

GUYS. guys guys guys. If you ever obsessively watched Strange Encounters, Unsolved Mysteries, or just generally love a good Bigfoot story - you NEED to read this.

Tell me why I’m crying over a Bigfoot sighting???? This book does such a good job of being a romance - spicy and delicious - and pairing it up with paranormal scientists without making fun of either. The research that went into this had to have been EXTENSIVE.

I’m obsessed with this in every way imaginable. The HOPE??? The romance?! Miles Adler????! Exceptional. I’m so sad I’ve finished it.

Highly recommend to everyone. Also, let’s take a moment to appreciate the gorgeous cover art. Because it’s the first thing I saw that made me want to read this book.

REVIEW

Thank you Love Notes PR and Katie West for the arc! All words in this review are my own!

Rating: 3.5/5
POV: 1st; dual
Tropes: Found Family; Opposites Attract; Boss Bitch FMC; Nerdy MMC; Contemporary Romance with a hint of paranormal
Heat Level: 3/5
Kinks: N/A

Likes:
* The Found Family!! I am usually pretty indifferent to that trope but omg it was so good in this book!
* I really like the FMC, Daisy. Such a lovely sarcastic boss bitch.

Dislikes:
* It felt like the author was trying too hard to make this story "deep".

Conclusion:
I was very excited when I got this arc because I am someone that judges books by their covers (sorry not sorry) and this one of course immediately drew me in! Like a lurking Bigfoot??? Can't get better than that!

This story had a really strong start. I immediately liked Daisy and how sarcastic and on point she was. If her character hadn't been like that I don't think she would've been relatable.
Daisy, has always had a small interest in the paranormal and the things we can't explain plus really have no solid proof for - i.e. Bigfoot, Mothman, etc.

Her podcast is 10 years old and is just coasting. She's bored and clearly her listeners are bored. So she decides to do something completely different and join a group that is Bigfoot Hunting to share light on the phenomena and add her humor to it. She does go in expecting to have this funny (not necessarily make fun of but maybe a little) mini series and with her popularity it would help the Bigfoot hunting team make some money as well. Which is why they agree for her to do her mini podcast series.

Off she goes to join them in the middle of nowhere Arizona(?) or maybe it's Utah. I'm honestly not sure where they are but it's the middle of nowhere where there is desert but also forests lol.

The Bigfoot Hunting group was the perfect little family of different characters. 2 females and 2 males and 1 other male who currently works elsewhere. I adored this group. I was seeing the potential for a great romcom when Daisy joins them.

Then things started to go in a completely different direction of a romcom. The book got "deep". Well tried to.
I made this note at 82% in the book - I just can't tell if it's a me thing and i'm just not emotionally intelligent enough to "get this" or if the author is just trying too hard to make this story emotionally deep.
The story just became so much about the "why" behind the group being dedicated entity hunters and honestly I didn't care about the why?? I just wanted the humor and the romance.
I saw another reviewer put it perfectly too regarding the romance- the book is full of telling about everything but there's not actual showing. No true connection building, no tension, etc.

I realize I didn't really touch on Miles the MMC. He nerdy, wears glasses, neurodivergent, and meh. I just found his character to be a bit boring. Daisy and the crew carried the story.

So overall the execution wasn't great but the idea and creativity was there. It just didn't quite land.

3.5/5

I liked this one! I love anything paranormal, especially Bigfoot, so this was right up my alley. My dad was obsessed with Bigfoot growing up and would watch all the shows and even the Hollywood movies, and he REALLY believed, which obviously convinced me too! So I loved that Bigfoot was such a huge part of this story.

Daisy and Miles had such good chemistry even though they are complete opposites. Daisy is a sex and lifestyle/culture podcaster who reminded me a lot of Alex Cooper from Call Her Daddy, while Miles is basically a huge paranormal nerd in every sense of the word… but a hot one. I loved the entire team and how they all geek out over paranormal stuff, especially Bigfoot. The banter between Daisy and Miles was SO good, and their spice was really hot! It was definitely more of a slow burn, but I actually liked that.

The premise is weird and fascinating at the same time, and I really loved all the details, research, and lore that went into this. There was SO much information about the paranormal and Bigfoot, and you can tell a lot of thought went into it. Also, the cover is GORGEOUS!

There were a couple things that bothered me though. I felt like there was a lot of telling instead of showing, especially during parts where I really wanted to see everything play out because there was supposed to be so much action. I also struggled a little with the writing style. There were a lot of really short, one line sentences instead of paragraphs, weird sentence patterns, and sometimes excessive explanations or repeating things we already knew. The prose could also feel a little too dramatic at times, and some of the dialogue felt almost TOO perfect. It was just a writing style that took me a little while to get used to and made the book harder to read at times.

I did enjoy this and definitely want the second book! Especially if it ends up being Owen's story because I am VERY interested in him after everything with Area 51 and him finally being back with the team. 👀

Thank you Katie West and Love Notes for the opportunity to receive an eARC of Silent Shadows.

At some point in our lives or even still currently we have all believed there is something more out there. Mothman, the Lochness Monster, Chupacabra, or for Daisy, Miles and the Strange Terrain Division team, Bigfoot.

Daisy is a sex & culture podcaster who is in need of something different. Finding herself lost in an article about Bigfoot she starts to find her spark again. Joining a team of believers her plan seems simple: follow them through their hiking trails, record any evidence and make a comeback. That is until she finds herself on an RV with Miles.

Miles is the leader of his team, always needing to search for answers to the long time question of “is Bigfoot real?”. He’s not a fan of the idea of Daisy joining, out of the assumption she will write the narrative in a way that mocks them.

Daisy is sharp, sarcastic, and fresh. But she uses her podcaster persona to protect herself. Miles is organized to a fault, a planner. And fears no one will truly stay if they saw the real him.

“Then one day you realize nobody’s asking if you’re okay anymore because you accidentally taught everyone to believe you don’t need anything.”

The chemistry between Daisy and Miles, the pull they feel, the balance they bring each other and the ability to truly SEE each other. The vulnerable moments in with the high adrenaline moments in the woods searching for Bigfoot, really tie together what it is to believe. Believe in something. Believe in each other.

Silent Shadows was adventurous, hilarious, fun, emotional. Daisy, Miles, Owen, Maya, Taylor and Jax are the perfect found family for this adventure. They support each other during the highs and the lows. They believe that there’s something more out there but more importantly they believe in each other!

This book is for the cryptid chasers, weird little freaks, and people who would absolutely investigate a suspicious noise in the woods.

This book was EVERYTHING. As soon as I saw the announcement for it on the author’s Instagram, I knew I needed to get my grabby little hands on it. One of my all time fave books is Love and Other Conspiracies by Mallory Marlowe and this book felt like it was on the same wavelength to tickle my brain.

Silent Shadows was an absolute standout read for me this year. 100%.

I am an X-Files-obsessed, cryptid-romance-loving millennial (Mothman fans, where you at?!) and this book felt like it was written specifically for my weird little heart. It was hilarious, sharp, ridiculously fun, a little deep, and I absolutely loved the writing style. The whole paranormal-investigating-road-tripping-through-the-Southwest setup was SO much fun, and I was completely invested, sat, and ready from the beginning.

And then there was Miles. I mean… a “weirdly charming, hyper-prepared forest nerd” who wears slutty glasses? Honestly. What more could a girl want? I was absolutely feral for him.

The banter between Daisy and Miles was so good, and watching their relationship slowly develop while they're crammed into an RV together, chasing Bigfoot and getting themselves into increasingly ridiculous situations was everything I wanted. The forced proximity, the romantic tension, the one bed, the late-night conversations, the found family, the spice… YES. ALL OF IT.

I loved Daisy, I loved Miles, I loved the paranormal investigation crew. This book managed to be genuinely funny while still giving us those softer moments about vulnerability, being truly seen, handling grief and finding people who feel like home.

I need the rest of this series immediately.

Thank you to Love Notes PR and the author for an early copy. All opinions are my own.

I know you guys can't see it, but I am squealing and kicking my feet!!!!

First off, thank you to Katie West and LoveNotesPR for the ARC! <3 <3 <3

Let's start with a general overview. Sex Podcaster, Daisey is feeling uninspired and is daydreaming about Bigfoot (ugh don't we all). In an attempt to get her spark back and start a new project, she decides to join forces with Miles (insert dreamy sigh here) and his group of paranormal investigators.

I cannot begin to describe how much I love this story. I read the synopsis and immediately knew this was up my alley. Miles is one of my new favorite MMCs. He is not this gruff and moody woodsman that I was expecting. He is warm and sweet and laughs and loves and doesn't shy away from the things that make him happy. Right off the bat, we get to see his nerdy side (hello color coded tabbing system). He makes Daisy feel so seen and loved.

Daisey while trying to find herself, realizes she fits in so well with this group of Bigfoot Hunting misfits. For the people in this world who have to put on a brave face, or have to be on their "A-game" all the time, you will really resonate with Daisey.

One of my favorite scenes is the first time Daisey and Miles have breakfast together. Katie West manages to pack so much intimacy and romance into this scene; it had me melting (and wanting breakfast).

I can say that Katie is going to be one of my new favorite authors. This book felt so original and fresh while still giving us those tropes we all love.
-one bed (cot)
-rained in
-a smidge of insta love
On top of all that, Katie also includes conservation and respect for nature! (as the wife of an Archaeologist, I was so happy to see that).

Five out of Five bigfoots!!!

I absolutely LOVED Silent Shadows. I devoured this book in one night, and I already know I’m going to be impatiently waiting for the rest of the Strange Terrain series.
This rom-com follows Daisy, who has built her own podcast empire but is tired of doing the same thing over and over. She’s always been fascinated by things that are a little weird and conspiracy-theory-adjacent, so when Bigfoot becomes her latest curiosity, she finds herself unexpectedly joining a field research team investigating the supernatural, and their current case just happens to be Bigfoot.
Enter Miles, the leader of the team. He’s confident without being cocky, a little nerdy, genuinely funny, and an absolutely fantastic MMC. The banter between Daisy and Miles was TOP TIER, and watching their relationship unfold was one of my favorite parts of the book.
But this story has more layers than I expected. Daisy and Miles both go through such great character development, and I loved watching them challenge each other and grow throughout the story. What starts as a fun, quirky premise turns into something with real emotional depth without losing the humor and fun that made me love it.
Also, as someone who is equally fascinated by all things weird and conspiracy-adjacent, Daisy's interests had me saying, “same girl,” more than once.
This was such a fun, unique read, and I cannot wait to see where the Strange Terrain series goes next.
Thank you to Love Notes PR for the copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

From the beginning to the end, this book had me cozied up and hooked. The paranormal investigation for anomalies of Bigfoot was a thrilling ride to be on with Miles and his Strange Terrain Division crew. I felt like a fly on the wall, learning about the roles of each investigation member: Jax, Maya, Taylor and Owen. You can immediately feel how close knit these characters already are with each other like they're not just a team, but a family and it's very special. And, even though these are the side characters, we get so much personality from the writing.

When Daisy hops on board, she bring a new dynamic that just somehow clicks. Coming in with an opposite lifestyle and mindset, she was able to mold easily into their routine and understand what the investigation means to them.

I also love that we get a little rivalry in this story, it adds a bit of jealousy and competition. Even though the Ridgefield crew was sooo annoying lol. I'm glad they got the ending they deserved.

Not only do we get romantic relationship dynamics in this but also, amazing friendship insight/development and heartwarming family moments. I'm so excited to see what they'll explore next and who's story it'll be!

The atmosphere was also so cozy and feels like a perfect read for fall, or any time of the year really! It has mystery, romance, paranormal investigation, a mix of social media, and intriguing possibilities.

Thank you for the e-ARC Love Notes PR team and Katie West! All thoughts and opinions are of course my own.

ARC Review! 🤍

Katie, thank you so much for letting me be part of the ARC release!

Gosh, where do I even begin?! Miles and Daisy are complete opposites, but they complement each other perfectly. Their chemistry was off the charts from the moment they met! Their late-night talks and conversations filled with banter and flirtation made me love them even more.

Miles nerdy rants were honestly so perfect, and Daisy’s genuine interest to them made me love them more. We also cant forget Daisy quick responses funny personality, she is def one of my favorite FMCs!! I loved how naturally they bounced off each other, and their dynamic quickly became one of my favorite parts of the book.

The group’s dynamic was also so funny to read! I loved how close they all were and how chaotic they could be together. Their friendship brought so much fun to the story and made the whole universe even more enjoyable!

This was definitely a different read from my usual, but I absolutely loved the mystery and conspiracy elements! They added such an interesting layer to the story and kept me wanting to know more. It even made me want to explore more mystery and conspiracy stories with a more open mind after finishing this!

Overall, I had such a fun time reading this, and I’m already going to need book two ASAP!! 👀 (Also insane I finished in a day of getting the arc!! This has to be on everyones TBR!)

Thank you again for letting me read this early, Katie! 🤍

Do you love cryptids? Do you love weird shit? Do you love love? How about found family? Let’s talk about Silent Shadows. 😉

Katie writes found family like she’s lived it and I’m 100% seated every single time. I love the way she brings people (real or not!) together.

Daisy isn’t new to recording things. She has built a very successful podcast empire but she craves something a little different. Deep down, she’s a weird girl. (Weird girls rule.)

Miles is a bit neurotic. He believes in…more…and he wants to prove it. His team is like a little family and I love that so much. They annoy each other but they’re also fiercely loyal.

Fast forward: Daisy meets Miles.

The banter between Daisy and Miles is actually hilarious. It feels real, not forced.

You know they’re gonna. It’s the road that leads to the doing that makes that part of this book so incredibly enjoyable.

Side note: Miles is an Oklahomie like me! Hate it here, love seeing it mentioned in books. It’s a weird balancing act, I tell ya.

Also: That one scene in that one place was hot AF. Okay, who am I trying to kid. It wasn’t just the one.

Does anyone else make the faces described in books or is that just me, trying to understand expressions from people? I sat there, wincing while my eyes were still smiling until I felt like I got it right - which was actually an embarrassingly long time. 🤣

Thank you, Katie West and Love Notes PR for the opportunity to read and review Silent Shadows.

Thank you so much, Katie and Love Notes PR for this ARC! The scream I scrumpt when I got the email. Made my day!!!

The romance, wit, hope, found family, a man who wears slutty glasses, BIGFOOT. I swear I was giggling and kicking my feet nearly the whole book. I didn’t expect to cry real tears over Bigfoot, but alas, I did. As someone who believes, this book just really healed my heart.

Miles. This man. Oh gosh, I just love him! You just wanna hug him. He’s analytical, about pretty much everything, but I just adore it. I love how awkward he can be, whether in his own head or out loud. His inner monologue was literally my favorite! His reason for what he does, it just melted my heart. I love how protective he is of his people. But, let’s also talk about the man that Miles is when they.. ya know 😏 the talker he is, the way he pushes their .. back in her.. and how he licks her thigh after she 💦. Yeah, we love a well rounded man lol

Daisy. I love how witty she is, so many good one liners! She’s a girl who knows what she wants but is a little scared about getting it. She is brave and little stubborn and I truly love it!

I loved how much Daisy and Miles felt like home, together. How at peace they were together, even when it was quiet..

Silent Shadows was 5 star read and I cannot wait for the rest of the series!

READ THIS THE SECOND IT RELEASES. I am so serious.

This book was so freakin FUN. There were actual laugh out loud moments where I had to stop and reread a line because it was that funny. The quick witted banter, the quotes, the entire group dynamic. I was having the best time.

But the LORE?! Katie, exactly how much research did you do because the amount of depth in this book was INSANE. I was just as invested in all the cryptid lore, theories and investigating as I was the romance. It made the entire story feel so much bigger than I expected and my weird little Bigfoot loving heart was thriving.

Daisy and Miles were just so damn good together. I loved their back and forth and how naturally everything between them developed. The teasing, the conversations, the little moments where you could feel things shifting between them. Their tension fit this story perfectly and had me swooning HARD.

Also, slutty glasses AND forearms? Katie. Be serious. I am only one woman.

Hilarious, swoony, surprisingly deep and just so completely different from anything I’ve read lately.

I need book two immediately. I fear Strange Terrain Division has a new obsessed member (seriously… how do I join their squad)?

Thank you so much for the early copy!

I was doing my hair yesterday morning, getting ready for the day, and had Instagram on when people started posting about getting their ARC copy of this book. I went and checked my email and immediately screamed; my dogs even came in, freaking out, thinking that something was wrong with me.

This has been one of my most anticipated reads of the year. As soon as she posted about this book, I knew I had to have it. I enjoyed the Big Five series so much, but Strange Terrain and Silent Shadows were everything you could want in searching for Bigfoot.

Ladies, y'all just be ready because everything that Katie has been posting about glasses and forearms and shower pressure. Just be ready. This book was absolutely amazing! The amount of research it must have taken to get all of the technological terms correct. And the banter going back and forth with them, you really did it, Katie. Thank you so very much again for allowing me to be a part of. Your next big hit! I can't wait for the world to read this book. Cause it is gonna leave them, just pining for book two. So next year can't get here fast enough already!!

5⭐️ - Romance + Big Foot = a good time! This was such a unique and refreshing book. Miles and Daisy were so likable and relatable. Daisy has lost herself as she built her career behind a persona that isn’t truly her. Miles is searching for answers to the unexplained as a way to stay connected to his deceased parents. Though different, they really understood each other. It was sweet to see the relationship blossom. The tension and banter was well written. Don’t expect a slow burn but it worked well due to the timeline and nature of the story. A little forced proximity and forbidden romance.

The support cast really made this story even better. I cannot wait for their stories next. I really enjoyed that Katie didn’t add any drama with the female characters. It was so refreshing to have a group of platonic friends that genuinely wanted to see each other happy. However, there is one potential future couple I am really hoping for.

Overall, this is the perfect read to kick off the fall. You get some Big Foot hunting but not in a weird eye rolling conspiracy way. The team uses scientific data and looks for real evidence. I absolutely loved the ending. It felt so authentic to the characters and I am excited to see what else the team discovers on their future hunts!

Thanks to the author and her team for the early copy!

Advance reader copy received from Love PR, and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

“Maybe people chase mystery because life hands you questions no one can answer—grief, loneliness, heartbreak—and believing there’s something bigger out there makes the silence feel less brutal.”

I’m starting this off with a BANG. This book honestly did something to me I’m not sure I can put into words. This was my first Katie West book but I was sure when I read the “Bigfoot” blurb that it was going to be exactly what Daisy thought it would be. Funny, aloof, joking. Sure it had those things but the underlying meaning of what the story told? Pure magical, thought provoking, a story that actually made you think. I’ve never read a “Bigfoot-esque” book but I’m not sure anything will ever beat this one.

I felt like I was along for the ride in the mystery machine and was rooting the whole way for all these characters. I became an instant fan, and cannot wait to see what the Strange Terrain Crew gets up to in the future. Katie West found a forever fan in me.

Thank you to Katie West and LoveNotesPR for the ARC!

I felt like the setting for this was perfect, having that close proximity being away from large populations really helped in getting to know the characters and understanding them. What really stood out was how every character stood out on their own how they all had their own relationship.

The only thing for me was that the beginning felt a bit rushed and the sudden chemistry felt a bit forced however, the more time we spent with the main leads(Daisy + Miles) out in the woods and them having conversations and interaction it felt more organic and more believable.

At the 30% mark I could not stop reading and devoured it. The ending was perfect that sense of wonder was really captured and made me really believe.

My favorite part about the book was the actual investigation the noises the clues the what if? The uncertainty was amazing, Katie West did an amazing job putting the reader in that setting.

“A couple of months ago, my life fit inside a very different shape. Then I climbed into an RV with a bunch of cryptid weirdos and ruined everything.“

The perfect book to help me get excited for spooky season! We love a nerdy nervous MMC, Miles “slutty little glasses” Alder🤭
I was obsessed with these characters from the beginning. I loved their deeper conversations & learning more about them as I read, I didn’t want it to end! The premise of them wanting to believe in this “unknown” conspiracy was so so good, I wanted to be apart of the crew with them so badly.
They made me believe!
And Miles & Daisy’s connection, the banter back & forth was piping HOT👏🏼🥵 who knew Miles had that dirty talk in him behind all that technology lingo!!

~Found family
~One cot
~He falls first
~Opposites
~Secret relationship

Stay weird🛸🌀 Thank you Katie West & LoveNotes PR for sending me this ARC!

Have you ever seen Twister 🌪️ you know the storm movie that has a rag tag group of scientists that chase tornados?! I LOVED IT-Silent Shadows gave me the same vibe and I absolutely dig the camaraderie between the members!!

The slow burn and sexual tension had me reading for more!!

Miles Adler 🤤 need I say more?! What girl doesn't love a sexy awkward nerd?! Add in a secret sex god and, boom masterpiece.

Daisy 🌼 I loved the quirkiness you brought to the team, and how you found your purpose!

Katie has a way of describing and character building, that I literally felt like I was present in every scene 🎬 whether it was hiking through the forests and caves, or chilling in base camp...I WAS THERE. The way she wrote made me a believer and want to look up finding big foot videos 😆 it also makes you wonder...what else is out there and will Katie take us on more adventures?

give me more. immediately lol. right off the bat, the banter between the characters was amazing. almost every conversation had me giggling and kicking my feet.

the relationship between Miles and Daisy did come quick, but it felt right. two people who never really let anyone in until they met each other. they both saw through each others shells and saw the real versions. the messy, imperfect, emotional versions of each other.

also! i can just tell that Katie did soooo much work and research into the cryptid lore. like i genuinely felt a part of the Strange Terrain Division with how informed i felt lol. and also now i am really invested and want to dive in deeper to all of the other cryptids. ACTUALLY, Katie, you should just write all the books about the Strange Terrain Division going for all the cryptids lol

thank you so much for the early copy!!

I just finished the eARC for this book, and thank you SO MUCH for that opportunity!!! Let me just say, wow. It has hilarious banter, suspense, GREAT spice, a found family, it’s heartwarming. The amount of research she must have put into this is insane because the Bigfoot facts were legit. I felt my heart pounding at points reading this book.

I loveee a sensitive MMC and Miles is that man. He is smart, he is considerate, HE WASHES HER HAIR. This really gave soul mate vibes and not in a corny annoying way. Just two magnets pulling to each other. Daisy had amazing one liners and cracked me up. The rest of the characters are that good too. I will read any book that comes out in this series.

So basically if you love rom coms, and you like a little paranormal, this is for you 👏🏻

Silent Shadows is everything quirky, charming, funny, and surprisingly heartfelt in nature.

I immediately fell for the bawdy crew of misfits that make up the S.T.D. (Had a good laugh over the acronym)
They all read like a group of college friends who know and love one another, while simultaneously wanting to choke each other out over who stole the last pop-tart.
The banter is top-notch 🤌🏽
The sex appeal from Miles-Mr. slutty lil’ glasses-Adler made my heart beat faster, while Daisy’s emotional growth made me literally and figuratively tear up on several occasions.
I thoroughly enjoyed this sassy and fun story, and what it says about life, grief and the fear of the unknown.
The possibilities are endless, and instead of disbelief, I ended this book thinking about all of the as-yet undiscovered things in this world that I look forward to being pleasantly surprised by.
Stay weird 🫈✌️

Silent Shadows feels like a love note to all the whimsical weirdos who dare to believe in more. On the surface it's a story about cryptid hunters, but underneath it's a story of misfits finding a family/community.

Both MCs were used to hiding their true selves behind various masks. Daisy hides her conspiracy-theory-loving weirdo self under a polished LA podcaster mask. Miles hides his sadness and nervousness under a mask of competency. Because their of their under-the-surface similarities, Daisy and Miles click pretty quickly, despite their better judgement.

Silent Shadows is a great read if you like:
- Slutty little glasses
- highly competent MMCs
- having wonder about the unknown
- quirky found family

Thank you Love Notes PR and Katie West for the opportunity to advance read!

The hunt for Bigfoot fell so flat. Well. I’m the only 2 star review but here we go. This wasn’t it. It had the potential for a super fun rom com, but I felt it was probably 5-10 chapters too long and cringey.

Daisy, a sex and culture podcaster, joins a paranormal investigation team chasing Bigfoot across the Southwest. She meets the skeptical leader Miles and his quirky team. As their banter turns into attraction, Daisy must choose between saving her career and the found family she’s discovered along the way.

I’m 0 for 2 on ARC rom coms and I’m getting bummed out. 🫤 The dialogue was cringey and I felt like certain parts were just told to us and rushed, while others were stretched out and completely unnecessary.

Katie West has done it again!!!!! I've honestly never read anything like this before, and that's exactly why I loved it.
Picture this: A sex & culture podcaster × nerdy Bigfoot hunter shouldn't work but it absolutely does. Plus he had slutty little glasses 🤭🫶

Tropes:
👣 Opposites attract
🎙️ Podcaster × Bigfoot hunter
🔥 Slow burn
💬 Banter = foreplay
🤍 Found family
🤫 Secret relationship
🌲 Paranormal adventure

Katie West created such a fun, fresh, and unforgettable story with incredible chemistry, lovable characters, and an adventure that kept me turning the pages.

If you're looking for something completely different from the typical romance, Strange Terrain is one you don't want to miss.💕

This exceeded all my expectations!! Honestly, my favorite ARC I’ve ever been given the opportunity to read and review. Daisy and Miles fall for each other while hunting for Bigfoot. If you grew up watching X-Files and Twister on an endless loop but thought “there should be more smooches and passionate hookups” then this book is absolutely for you! This was instant favorite and I need the next book immediately. ⁣

My only disappointment was that Ridgefield did not get eaten by Bigfoot. His ego took a much different hit. Alas, I promise, your paranormal-romance book-loving hearts will be satisfied with this one guys.⁣

4.5⭐

First of all I wanna thank Love Notes PR and Katie West for sending me this ARC 🫶🏻

I have never read something written by Katie before but now I am so curious about her other books 👀

Although in the beginning of the book I had a little ick, I can say that now I have forgotten all about that and loved the book even more than before that 😏

I loved the writing style, the plot line and the characters (Jax is one of my favorites for sure 🤣)

I have to say that I never read the blurbs of the books, I like to be surprised by the book while I am reading it but with this one I felt the need to read it and it got me curious over the book on that same second - besides the cover which is amazing 🥺

Can't wait to see where we go on the next book!!

Thank you to Katie West and Love Notes PR for allowing me to read and review this book pre release!

I was soooo excited for this book and even more excited when I got an email saying I was approved for this ARC. I haven't been excited about a book all year until this one.

This book did not disappoint me. It's love, it's adventure, it's cryptozoology. I LOVED IT SO MUCH.

I loved Daisy and Miles. I loved the way they spoke to each other, how they bonded together, everything. This romance was just so perfect.

I cannot wait to get my hands on a physical copy, because this book is going on my favorite's shelf.

Thank you so much for allowing me to read this book. I loved it!

Daisy’s quick wit pulled me in from the very beginning, and once Miles entered the picture, it only made the tension and chemistry between them that much better. He’s stubborn, determined, and passionate, while Daisy brings an entirely different energy to the story. Miles may have been wary of her at first, but watching these two complete opposites slowly realize just how well they fit together was one of my favorite parts. Their personalities played off each other so well, creating plenty of chemistry and entertaining moments along the way. Overall, this story kept me hooked, engaged, and rooting for Daisy and Miles all the way to the end.
