The Six #3

If Ever I Fall

Rate this book
This is not the way love is supposed to start… is it?

When arriving in Scotland, Aiden Jacobson is ready to take on the task of setting up Cole Enterprise’s newest underground headquarters. But when their most-wanted criminal, Robert de Fleur, goes into hiding, Aiden is placed undercover at a local coffee shop. His mission—gather intel from Brenda Anderson, sister of Robert de Fleur, while posing as a barista at The Grounded Bean.
Coffee shop owner Brenda Anderson needs all the help she can get when it comes to keeping the Bean up and running. Unaware of his ulterior motives, Brenda brings the mysterious and handsome Aiden in with only one thing on her mind… Airen. Maybe her gypsy-souled niece wouldn’t wander quite so far if she had someone like Aiden to keep her grounded.
Thrown together by circumstance, Airen becomes part of Aiden’s mission when Robert de Fleur emerges from hiding, demanding something none of them can give. Knowing Robert won’t stop until he gets what he wants, Aiden is ordered to stick as close as possible to keep an eye on them.
Staying at Brenda’s seems to be the simplest solution… until he wakes up in Airen’s bed.
Making a valiant attempt to shove his growing feelings aside, Aiden forces himself to walk away and protect Airen from afar. Unfortunately, his plan backfires, and Robert de Fleur uses that weakness to make his move.
Kicking himself for allowing his feelings to get in the way of the mission, Aiden sets out to do what he should have done all along… take out Robert de Fleur once and for all. Can Aiden stick to the mission, or will Airen tear down every defense he puts in place and gain complete entrance to his heart?

I was approached by the author to help her with this book as I live in Scotland and that's where the book was set, so the author asked me what we call certain things and how we phrase sentences and things like that! I was more than happy to help as I completely adore this author! Plus, it meant I got to read this book early lol! I loved this book! I read it in such a short space of time that even I couldn't believe it lol! I was so immersed in the plot! I mean, the plot was amazing! There was loads of action and suspense in it and it kept me hooked! I couldn't wait to read on and find out what was going to happen next and how everything was going to develop! There was also romance in it, and it was so beautiful! It also developed slowly, which I loved! The plot was just amazing and there was plenty of action, suspense and romance to keep me hooked! The characters were also amazing! Aiden was the main male character, and I can't remember if he appeared in the other books in this series as a secondary character, but I'm almost positive he did lol! Even if he didn't appear in the second book, I'm sure he appeared in the first book! I loved Aiden! He was such a gentleman and I could see that he had deep feelings for his love interest, but that he didn't want to act on those feelings because of the circumstances surrounding how he met her and the job he was there to do! That made me have a lot of respect for him! Aiden was also seriously hot and he was really protective of his love interest, Airen, too! I just loved him, and I hope he maybe makes an appearance in the next book! Airen was the main female character, and I loved her in this book! She was thrust into the danger because of who her family where, which made me feel really sorry for her! Airen was so confused in this book as well, as things were hid from her and she was kept in the dark a lot! It was all to protect her though, as the more she knew, the more danger she would be in! Airen was determined to help anyway she could though and she did again and again as the book progressed! Airen was easy for me to connect with too, and I could see that she would do anything to protect her family and the people she loved! I loved that this book was written from both Aiden and Airen's point of views! It made the plot even better and I loved getting to see their feelings for each other develop through both of their eyes! I can't wait to read the next book in this series! I know that it's probably not going to be about Aiden and Airen and that it's going to be about another couple, but I still can't wait to read it! I'll definetely be reading it as soon as it releases! The cover for this book is different to what I expected, but then I didn't really have an image of what it could look like in my head lol! I love it though, and it suits the other books covers too! Big thank you to Sonya for letting me beta read If Ever I Fall and for having me on the Blog Tour!

Another great book by Sonya Loveday!

5 stars (New Adult - Action/Romance) In my opinion this series could be read by readers 16 and up.

I have a special place in my heart for Sonya's Six Series. I fell in love with the first book, The Summer I Fell, and I just can't help myself, there's something about these books that makes me as giddy as a school-girl with her first crush. I get so excited every time I read one of the books in this series. Not only are they full of *this can't be happening to me* romance, but they are also full of action and suspense. Sometimes I like the characters from the beginning and sometimes, like with Airen, I have to give them time to grow on me. There was one character in this book that had me from the get-go, I dearly love Brenda. With her Scottish accent and straight forward way of speaking her mind, she put a smile on my face more than once.
The only time I was ever disappointed while reading this book was when I got to the end and that wasn't because of how the book ended, it was simply because I'd reached the end of this portion of the journey. As you can probably guess, I can't wait for the next book in this series to be published!

When reading this book, I was thinking WOW! (A good wow) How Sonya was able to transform her amazing work into a book that not only is set in Scotland but the dialogue throughout is amazing! Love the accents! ;) I'm also glad she posted a mini dictionary in the front to help out with the pronunciation LOL :)

This book is filled with love, enemies, curses, and most of all friendship. The friendship that the Six have. They would go through Hell and back to save the other. True friendship right there! :)

Not only does this book have a bunch of new faces but it also has some old faces from the previous 2 books. The Summer I Fell & End Note. Defiantly check those out!!

***Won an ARC from Sonya***

After I finished If Ever I Fall, I was blown away! Sonya always has a different way to write stories. I never know what to expect and I love being surprised every time I read another one of her books. Her stories are a breathe of fresh air!

We've met the Six (and Riley) but Aiden has not gotten his own story and now he finally has his chance. Aiden is a recluse man who hides his love but loves wholeheartedly and is powerfully protective.I could not put the book down. I had to finish it in one sitting. This page-turner is filled with action, sadness, love, happiness, and more. I enjoyed reading about Aiden and Airen's journey and how much they endured throughout the story.

I have loved every Six man so far but Aiden has surely stolen my heart now. I cannot wait to read more about the rest of the gang! I would definitely reccomend this book to anyone who loves adventure and a great love story!

5 HUGE Stars|Amazon|Goodreads
So I beta read this novel for Sonya and I have to say yet again, I believe this to be her best work yet! Each novel in this series hooks you more. We get to see small glimpses of The Six and we get to see one of them tell their story. It is a interesting way to write a series and I am hooked.

I love the fact that we get different sides of each character in each novel. When you encountered Aiden in The first two novels he was a different person than the man you get to know the man in this one. You get to know the real person. The present behind the job. It is a wild ride that you wont be able to put down. With each of the novels in this series I try to savor the pages. Take my time and  make it last. This never works. I end up staying up all night and finishing them in one sitting. This book was certainly no exception.

Aiden and Airen's story was non stop. Even so though, it didn't feel rushed. The progression with the characters felt natural. Airen is home and has to face that her past has come a calling. Even if she doesn't realize. Her uncle that paid her that ever of short meeting before her trip, is back. He is back and on a mission that requires her. Willing or not. Lucky for her, Aiden and Grant are also hunting her dear old uncle even if she doesn't know it.  He is there to protect her. He is there to hunt down the man that put him and those he love sin danger. What he isn't there for is to fall in love. But fate doesn't much care for plans does it.

The writing in this novel is superb as well as its characters. We get a taste of those we previously read about and some little tidbits about things to come. You don't want to miss this novel. Sonya shines in her expert dialogue and descriptive writing that leaves you feeling like your in a movie.

It’s been a while since I’ve read a book. Now don’t get me wrong, I still read a lot but it’s mostly beta reads, and for editing. As much as I enjoy helping out my friends by beta reading, it also takes a lot to do it. You read it in a different way. So sitting down to read If Ever I Fall was a wonderful experience, I could read it from A to Z and remembered how fun it was to get lost in a book again.

I’ll try and leave out spoilers from previous books as well.

If Ever I Fall is Aiden’s story. After everything that happened, Robert de Fleur is on Cole Enterprises’ shit list.
Aiden, Greg and Nadia have set up an undercover office under a church in Scotland. Why? Well, de Fleur’s only family lives there.
Aiden’s mission is to get closer to the family without giving himself away. The best solution? Get a job in the Grounded Bean, Brenda’s (de Fleur’s sister) coffee shop.
Everything is going quietly right until Aiden, Maggie’s niece shows up. She’s home after been traveling for a while and with her all kinds of trouble follows.
Aiden now have to fight against the emotions Airen is awakening inside of him and his will to finish the mission he’s on.
In this book we also meet our old friends; Ace, Oliver, Eli, Josh, Grant and Nadia. Seeing some of the Six again is always wonderful, even though their comeback in this one is brief compared to The End Note.
What hit me the most with If Ever I Fall are the new characters we met; Airen and her family, her aunt Brenda and her mother. I love how Sonya have incorporated the Scottish dialect into her story.

I loved reading this book. I fell in love with Aiden and Airen and their struggle. Aiden not wanting to drag Airen into his life because he want her safe, Airen keeping her family’s secret close to her heart and afraid of pulling Aiden into her life, afraid of being hurt again.
As always Sonya manages to drag you into the story without you realizing it, and this one beat my record for when I got hooked on a book.
3 %.
That’s all it took before I was so deep into the story that I forgot everything around me. I do mean everything.
If Ever I Fall have it all; action, romance, secrets, Scottish brogue, suspense and twists. Every page made me want to read more, to learn more and some of the pieces of the puzzle didn’t fall into place until the end. Which is just awesome, I might add. Some of the stuff we’re told about in the beginning, we get the answers at the very end indirectly.
It was amazing. My heart was in my throat, I laughed and I cried.
Sonya has this special gift when she writes books. First of all, she’s amazing at making everyone feel real to you, like you could bump into them down the road, but she has something else. Something unique. Every time I’m done reading one of her books, I want to hug her and I want to wring her neck. She puts my heart through a shredder and when she’s done, she’s there with the glue to help you put it all together.
Each book has touched me in a different way, have fitted into my life in different ways and each time she has made me cry only to come out stronger on the other side. Sonya writes amazing stories, but more than that, she brings them to life. She tosses you into an emotional rollercoaster and you will be asking for more once you get off the ride.

If Ever I Fall (The Six Series) by Sonya Loveday
*Contains spoilers*

When I first read about Aiden in The Summer I Fell I wanted to know more about him. Then in The End Note we found out he was officially a man of the military, but basically on loan to Cole Enterprises. So in other words he's bad ass. Well we finally get his story in If Ever I Fall, and that makes me incredibly happy.
This story takes place in Scotland, which made me a very happy woman. I have a soft spot for books wrote in Scotland and Ireland for some reason, so this was perfect for me. Aiden goes with Cole Enterprises to set up shop in Scotland to try and gain Intel on the criminal Robert de Fleur, aka the guy who kidnapped Jared. Garrett, Nadia, and Aiden set up shop in the basement of the local church. Aiden goes "undercover" working in a coffee shop owned by de Fleur's sister Brenda. Cole Enterprises is hoping to gain knowledge of de Fleur's whereabouts since he is underground.
Aiden doesn't learn anything from Brenda, except for the knowledge he can't work the fancy coffee machines, and learns the different kinds of tea. Then one day Airen comes home, Brenda's niece. To say there was an instant attraction would be an understatement.
"I opened my mouth to welcome whomever it was that stepped through the door, but found my voice failing me as a pair of moss-green eyes locked with mine. Holy shit."
Airen is what you would call a gypsy or wander. She took off to travel only to go back home to Scotland when friend stole her money and took off. Before she left Scotland Uncle Robert introduced himself to her and told her he would see her soon. All her life she had been told he was the worst kind of man, so it freaked her out.
Aiden and Airen...they make the best kind of odd couple. They fought it to begin with then finally accepted the attraction.
"I’d known the feeling of need, but never like what Aiden built up in me. It was consuming me, bringing me to a madness that had me digging my fingers into his back, whimpering as he brought me closer and closer to the breaking point."
Along with the blossoming attraction they found out the reason Robert wanted Airen. Apparently his illegal dealings happened on land that was supposed to be Airens. The family only handed down the property to first born females of every generation. Only it wasn't Airens, Aunt Brenda had sold it.
So de Fleur kidnaps not only Aiden, but Airen. Puts them in the trunk, wrecks, Garrett and Nadia save them, Uncle Robert is on the lose, and Aunt Brenda and Airens mom are on life support because of dear ol' Uncle Robert.
Ace, Eli, and Oliver all make an appearance in this book as well to get the mission done. Aiden tries to leave Airen behind after the job is done but fails. Granted a lot more happens in the book but I wont give it all away.
"She stopped struggling and bumped her head into my shoulder. “After ye left, I was so lost without ye. How did you become so important to me, Aiden?"
"Airen had come for me. She’d put it all on the line to be with me, even knowing the danger my life could bring. All of my attempts to put her behind me and move on shattered when she’d taken a leap of faith and sought me out."

Plot- 4/5
Character- 4/5
Heat- 3/5
Writing Style- 3.5/5
Overall- 4/5

After finishing End Note I had to read the next book in the series. I was in deep and couldn't think about leaving these boys yet.

This book follows Aiden. He's been sent to Scotland to carry on with the mission to find and take our Robert de Fleur. What he didn't bank on was falling, hard for Airen.

Airen is Brenda's niece. Aiden has been working in Brenda's coffee shop for cover for a few weeks when Airen returns home. She's a feisty girl who's not afraid to stand up for herself.

This book was laid out a little differently from The Summer I Fell and End Note in that each chapter was from either Airen or Aiden's perspective. I really like it when authors do this because you really get inside the character's head. You really get to know them not just what other people see of them.

This book will have you on the edge of your seat, biting everything and praying that they all make it to the end of the book alive.

I really liked the Epilogue of this book and I'm hoping the next book will be about Josh, I can't wait to hear his story.

Love it

I just love this whole series. The entire series is about "the six."
"The six" are six boys who are best friends, and they have been for many years. They also have a 7th best friend in Riley (female and her best girlfriend Paige is around a lot as well).
Each book focuses on one of the six.
The first book (The Summer I Fell) is a great introductory book to the series that gets you hooked. It is a sweet story about 2 (of 7) best friends who have more than friendly feelings for each other and decide to act on them just before all the friends split up after graduation. Then you get left with a major cliffhanger that just about gives you a heart attack (thankfully the second book was already out when I read the first).
The second book is about another member of the six. It does not pick up right where the first book left off, it goes back to about the middle of the first book (but I promise you do get a conclusion to the cliffhanger, so be patient and do not rush through the beginning of the book to make it there!).
The second book starts off close to the same as the first one. Jared goes on the road with a band and meets a girl that he instantly feels something for. It seems to be a nice love story, except this big secret that Jared's family is keeping from him. And then it becomes a book filled with action. And you get little glimpses into the life of the others in the six.
This third book takes you to Scotland. The events take place after the events of the second book. This time we are following Aiden. We get to see him meet a girl he has an instant connection with and we get more action. And again we get glimpses into the lives of three rest of the six, but not as much as with the first two.
I cannot wait for the rest of the series. I am HOOKED!
This is a great series and I highly recommend it.

I love the Six series, but I didn't enjoy this story as much.

The two narrators in this novel, bouncing between Aiden and Airen was different than in the books prior, so I wasn't expecting it. I had to get my mind around who's point of view I was reading from in every chapter. The huge downside of this, was the character names! They were so similar - Aiden & Airen have only 1 letter difference- it was a bit odd to me and I had to pay careful attention to the names of both of these main characters. Three me off at some points if I wasn't paying attention or picked up in the middle of a chapter. I guess this novel is just to be read in one sitting haha.

To be picky as well, I didn't like the Scottish language included. As a person who is not Scottish, I had to look up a few of the catch phrases just to make sure I was understanding what the characters were saying. "Ya Ken" was one of the ones I struggled with.

Overall I enjoyed the story of Aiden and Airen. It was mysterious, there was sexual tension and action filled. The back and forth of the narrators disrupted the fluidity of the story, but it did assist in truly understanding the feelings of both characters.

I can't wait to read the story of Mark and Paige- it's going to be a good one!

Each additional book, I fall more and more in love with the Six. Loveday does such a great job of creating these amazing guys and these feisty women for them to fall in love with. But wait, there's more. This not your average romance, as we learned in book 2, this series is also filled with action and suspense. There were some interesting twists that made me go hmmmm and with each new member of the Six becoming connected to the "Company", I get more and more excited for them all to be back together again. Let's face it, their friendship is the root of the whole series, and why I fell in love with them in book 1. It's been difficult with them apart, but I see a certain reunion in the near future.

This book was a great last installment to the six series! I loved the story and how all the characters and events link back to the events of the book before. I was very sad when Riley did not show up in the book. She is the amazing character who I believe should have had way more involvement in the rest f the series. I do like how in this book i really got to know who Aiden was and what he was doing. I wished in the epilogue she would have written about Mark and Paige's wedding because that would have made a great reunion story. If there were to be more books in the series I think that one should be in Mark ad Paige's point of view all about their life and planning for their wedding. I am also curious about Josh's life because of the little sneak peak into the life of Josh in this book.

I was anticipating this book for so long! Super excited when it was released. After reading, I was a little underwhelmed. Maybe because I had such high expectations. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed it, but I wasn't as drawn in as I was with the others. Maybe it was the plot. Maybe it was the characters. It all just seemed a little under-developed.

Not a bad read by any means! Just not up to par with the first two in the series.

If Ever I Fall

Another cute YA read with romance and adventure. I had a little trouble with the main characters name spelling being so similar, but nothing I couldn't get used to. Keep the stories of the Six coming.
