Forbidden Return: Book 1 of the Treacherous Returns Series: Post-Apocalyptic Dystopian Romance

I hate college. I’m too far from home and don’t have any friends. The only guy who’s nice to me seems more worried about having a good time than really getting to know me.

But when the lights go out, and people turn on each other, he’s my only hope for survival. Except when he starts to struggle for his own demons, all the rules change.

When my son told me he met a girl, I was genuinely happy for him.

Until the day he lost her trust, and mine. In the midst of the world crumbling as we know it, I’m forced to choose between him and the woman who I’m drawn to protect.

And love.

But will that choice be the ruin of us all?

This is Book One of a new post-apocalyptic romance Treacherous Returns.

DNF around 33%

I got a bit of whiplash with this story. I think the relationship between the MCs very insta-love. After knowing each other for less than a day, they were drawn to each other and started trusting each other. Which was paired with the tragic story of his son. I know that he is supposed to be somewhat a villain to their getting together, but I found his story very sad. While his behavior wasn't great, I still felt this grief for his character. He is struggling with addiction but wants a friendship with her.

The balance just felt off for me and I couldn't enjoy the couple's story.

perfect!

The 2 main characters were made for each other. The storyline and pacing of the book is perfect. I can’t wait for the next one!

I should know by now that literally every book by M.A. is going to have me doing at least three things, 1. Reeling for the next one, 2. So far sucked in it’ll be two am before I stop and only stop because I’m finished, and 3. Feel all the emotions.

When I say Maggie and Luke’s story put me through it, it PUT ME THROUGH IT. I loved every single minute of it though and can not wait for the next one. Never would have thought end of the world black out situation books would hook me like these do, but maaaan they just do it for me.
