Trauma can explain someone's behavior, but it doesn’t automatically make them a compelling or enjoyable character.
Lyric was immature, and honestly, she didn’t deserve East.

Good but…
I'm a bit confused about my feelings for this book because, on the one hand, I love Kami's writing, but on the other hand, the story lacked for me in certain areas. Specifically plot and character development. The core plot point in this story is that Lyric is so afraid of her relationship with East being known to her brother that she asks East to hide it from Keyz. It's reiterated many times in the story, but we as readers never see the climax come to a head because it happens off-screen. This seemed disappointing, especially since Lyric's fear was such a factor in the decisions she made.
Another point that lacked was Lyrics' character development. East sits her down and plainly tells her where he felt she lacked in her support for him. Gave her specific examples and everything, and her friend also drove the point home as well. But she never takes the advice; we never see her support him or put him first or do literally anything he told her he needed from her. And I understand her very traumatic childhood, but East has been there and deserves to be supported and loved in ways that don't include sex.

East Carried This One, But I Still Enjoyed the Ride
I love Kami’s writing and will always support her work, but I had mixed feelings about All For Me. The story was still entertaining, emotional, and easy to read, but I did feel like some parts needed more development.
East was absolutely the standout for me. He was patient, protective, nurturing, honest, and solid in a way that made him unforgettable. He loved Lyric through her pain, but he also did not excuse everything or let people off the hook. I really appreciated the tough conversations he had with Lyric and with the people he loved, especially because he held them accountable without losing his heart.
Lyric, on the other hand, worked my nerves. I understood that she had been through a lot, and her trauma explained some of her behavior, but I still wanted to see more growth from her. East told her exactly what he needed, and I wanted to see her actually show up for him in those ways. Their relationship had love and chemistry, but I needed more emotional support from her outside of the physical connection.
My biggest issue was that one of the main sources of tension in the story was resolved off-page. Since Lyric’s fear of her brother finding out about her relationship with East was such a major part of the plot, I really wanted to see that moment fully play out instead of hearing about it after the fact. The ending also had some time jumps that made certain emotional moments feel rushed.
That said, I still enjoyed the book overall. East carried this story on his back, the brotherhood was strong, Granny was funny, and the side characters made me excited for the next installment. This was not my favorite Kami book, but it was still a solid read.

This was a really good read!!
Lyric went through so much my heart literally hurt reading the situations that she continued to be in by no fault of her own! She faced so many things that young black girls deal with everyday that traumatizes them for life! At some points it was hard to read! Having to imagine a child going through that really pulled at my heart strings! She was so resilient & stronger than she even knew! But no child should have to face what she did!
I loved Logic East & Keynauri! They were the REAL definition of protectors!!! They did not play about the ppl they loved!! They were ready to risk it all to make sure Lyric was protected at all cost! East…. MY MAN, MY MAN, MY MANNNN whew I loved that man dowwwnnn!! A real life SUPERMAN when it came to Lyric! The wayyyyyy that man stepped up & fell into the role of a father when it came to Symphonee gave me all the feels!! He didn’t share a bit of DNA with that baby & still loved every inch of her!! My heart literally couldn’t even take it!! HE’S A GOOD MAN SAVANNAH!!! 🥹
Granny was HILARIOUS she kept me rolling! East & Lyric parents were Trash! I mean the level of audacity was actually insane!!! I literally couldn’t believe them! Even with the trauma that their kids endured they grew up to be so much better than their circumstances & broke those generational curses!! I think that’s so important to see!
Overall this was a really good book! If you haven’t already get into it!

East my man my man
When I say Kami can’t do no wrong in my eyes when I said she ate this one down and left no crumbs. Let’s get in to it first East stole my heart off the jump when I tell yall it’s nothing like an unhinged man that don’t play about his love ones 😍 I’m hooked. Lyric yes got on my nerves but babygirl redeemed herself and got it all together I love to see their love for each other I mean I laugh, cried, screamed at my kindle lol. The parents was worth💩 including east mommy glad they got what was coming to them that Nate smh disgusting man he lived too long if you ask me🤬. My heart broke for Shay Mann that really had a thug crying. Anyway let’s just say this was definitely a 5 stars and I will definitely be reading it over. Oh the friendship love them down it was good to hear about some of the grahams one of my favorite family😍 Logic I can’t wait to hear more about his crazy tail and I would like to know more about jaq. But yea this book definitely was everything..❤️💙

Today drained me
I enjoy Kami’s work yet something was a bit off with this one. I could clearly understand the storyline ran parallel to Keynauri’s story but there were scenes that didn’t quite add up.
And my God Lyric drained me. I understand that characters deserve space to grow , level up and mature especially with her life circumstances but Lyric wasn’t it for me.
I won’t tell the whole story but be sure to READDDD the trigger warning if things set you off and take you to dark spaces.

East is Book Bae worthy! This man loved Lyric through every season of her life. He really was an old soul. The most solid on the team! He stepped in to be Symphonee dad without being asked.
Lyric was very immature and childish! While she deserved love- she mentally wasn’t ready! It broke my heart that she had to deal with 3 sexual assaults!!! Like what is wrong with these damn men?? And Nathan! I wouldn’t put it past you to assault your own daughters!!
Trina, Jazzie, and Nova! I swear that wasn’t enough for yall! Yall needed to suffer!! I feel bad for how Shaylyn story ended! Poor baby! Enoka was an awful mother but she didn’t harm her child; she just gave him away!
Granny and Aunt Pam gave me my life! Love their banter!

This is my second read from this author and one of the things I enjoy is that they are "purposefully" long-winded.
They don't write long stories for the page count. The length is to explore our characters- fully and fleshed out.
There were so many emotional moments that the author allowed us to "sit in" and process- I loved that!
Now- that "Geo and Clay" scene- the WILDEST of work but....
Highly recommend this read and this author!

I’m headed East!
Kami put her foot in this book! The way she’s able to put these stories with such bold and real storylines and give you a beauty for your ashes and a HEA is priceless. I cried so much, got angry, smiled, wanted revenge, wept, and repeated the process. Lyric went through more than the average adult and survived and thrived. My heart ached for her. Lyric, Shay, Keyz, Ari, East, and Shane were failed horribly. Lyric and Shay’s beginnings had me wanting to hold and hug them. The way the characters bond and love each other like a true family is beyond beautiful. They’re there in the tough and good times for one another. Lyric had to learn a lot through trial and error and by being hardheaded and stubborn whe it came to East’s love and protection. She saw some of it as smothering and soon learned he had nothing but love from her and wanted the some. She had to learn about friendships the hard way and it cost her a lot and she lost more than she bargained for but in the end she got peace and everything that was meant for her. S/O to Jacq. Nathan, Tone, Jazzie, and Trina had it coming and I’m glad they got it all. 10/10 I absolutely loved it. I hope Big Brudder Logic’s book is up next 🤞🏾

Whew!
It’s nice to see Lyric & East story from Keyz and Nari story. She was acting up but she was young with a rough life. Noodle is really the star. So what does Jacq have going on?

Essex and Lyric
Whew....wow
Lyric is the baby sister of Keys. He went away defending her. This made her see things differently. She felt responsible for the outcome of him protecting her. He had to protect her after the mom didn't. Then she is put with another relative that doesn't protect her either.
Essex is one of Keys best friends and promised to look out for Lyric while Keys was away. He got busy with making money, and when he touches down again, he finds himself rescuing Lyric from a rough situation.
He stands by her and the choices she makes about her future. Eventually, they develop feelings for each other and take it further. However, Lyric's mindset is a constant issue for Essex, and what he wants in a relationship
East realizes he has to make decisions that are best for him and Lyric. She is young and trying to navigate adulthood while carrying around the hurt of her past.

Broke me down
I think Kami knew this book was going to have readers pissed, happy, and sad. More so pissed than anything else. Now Lyric, my anger was not at you as I said before but at the adult women who were supposed to protect you. Now to get the story from her and East POV.... let's just say I have some hot ones for every villian in this story. Like seriously.
Also, why didn't East get his closure? I have questions. His upbringing and story was just as rought. His spill to Granny had me standing up and clapping loud. My boy was the realist and never lied.
I don't think we need another story but having one full of Logic humor would be the icing on the cake. We already got Kami humor throughout this story which is what brought the happiness.

East Stole the Show
I loved East. He was everything I love in a book bae: patient, nurturing, protective, successful, and an all-around good man. He had the perfect balance of strength and tenderness, and every scene with him made me love him even more.
As for Lyric… whew.
Enough of her, East is honestly what made me enjoy this book. The drama and messiness were entertaining enough, but he was the real star of the story for me because Lyric...
Overall, East carried this story on his back, and I was more than happy to go along for the ride.

East and Lyric, My Bestfriend Sister, My Life Partner
After all the tears 😭 I shed and all the giggles from grandma, Lyric and Logic, I decided to leave my review!!!…
I felt like I was watching Lyric grow into the woman she blossomed into!!!…She was definitely a child searching for love, security and her childhood!!!…
Jazzie and Trina both got exactly what they deserved for allowing all the danger placed their daughters in!!!…
For them to know and allow those babies to be violated and act as if this was normal, broken women is what they left in their path, trying to grow and heal!!!…
Shaylyn was such a broken child living in a woman’s body who struggled to truly come out of that dark place that childhood placed her in!!!…
East’s patience was top tier and I was so happy, despite all the games and foolishness that came with loving Lyric, he never lost hope or faith about his place in her life!!!…
I was not prepared for the things I learned in this book, but this author never leaves a stone unturned!!!…
I wanted so much to see Logic finally settle!!!…
Now Nathan was the most deserving of his Karma and the fact that his wife has to watch was beautiful!!!…

Amazing Story
This book was amazing. I was hesitant to start it after reading the trigger warnings, but I'm so glad I kept going. I read Nauri and Keyz's story first, and I honestly think that helped prepare me for everything this book had in store.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading about East and Lyric's relationship. They went through so many rough patches that there were times I truly wasn't sure they would survive each other. I loved that Essex never gave up on Lyric and gave her the space to grow into the woman she was meant to become. East wasn't a perfect man, but no one is, and that's what made him feel so real. No matter what happened, he was always there for Lyric.
Lyric and her family endured such a difficult life growing up, so it was incredibly rewarding to see them make it through their darkest moments. The reunion amongst the cousins was very beautiful and made me so happy, however the suicide part truly brought tears to my eyes. I understood why she did it, but I had hope she could have found a way to survive it.
What I loved most about this book was that none of the characters were portrayed as perfect or better than anyone else. No one had the perfect relationship, and everyone was carrying their own struggles. It made the story feel authentic because life isn't easy, and neither were their journeys.
This book was an emotional and, at times, difficult read, but it was absolutely worth it.

August Read: All For Me by Kami — 5⭐️ I thoroughly enjoyed East and Lyric’s story. These two went through so many rough patches that there were moments when I honestly wasn’t sure they would survive each other. I loved that East never completely gave up on Lyric and gave her the space to grow into the woman she was meant to become. East wasn’t perfect by no means, but that’s what made him feel real. No matter what happened, he continued to show up for Lyric. Lyric and her family endured so much growing up, so seeing them make it through their darkest moments was incredibly rewarding.
What I loved most about this book was how authentic the characters felt. Nobody was perfect, nobody had the perfect relationship, and everyone was carrying their own struggles. Their journeys weren’t easy, and neither is life, which made the story feel incredibly real. I loved watching them grow, heal, and find their way through everything they had been through. All For Me gave me messy, complicated, imperfect characters who still loved, fought, grew, and showed up for each other. Definitely a 5⭐️ read for me!

Emotional Rollercoaster!!!
Another story about to flawed people, who had rough and tragic upbringings that was beautifully crafted into the perfect love story. Lyric and East was a couple from Hell and ended up in Heaven. I loved the fact that East was willing to work through Lyrics issues and trauma. East was very patient when it came down to Lyric and her selfishness, because selfish is what she was. The way East stepped up and not only claimed her daughter as his, but he went as far as making a family with them. I was glad to see the growth and some maturity in Lyric, but god dang!, did it have to take the entirety of the book for her to understand that East was who she belonged to? All and all, if you want a book that will give you all the feels and your emotions and ability to cry will be tested throughout this book, then this book is definitely for you. Be warned, do not take the trigger warnings lightly.

Things I liked about the book; East was definitely a book bae, intentional, protective, loves out loud. I also love a man who claims a baby who is not his own. I wasn't a fan of Lyric, and I don't feel like she was fully redeemed in character growth. I didn't like that we didn't see East and Keyz resolve the issue of them dating in the book when it was literally talked about throughout the entire book. I enjoyed the first book and was hoping to connect with this one as well, I just feel like some pieces were missing. Lyric had very little interaction with her nieces and nephews which was confusing to me because she was so angry about them being kept away from her. I think it's worth the read but I still feel like something was missing. Still one of my favorite authors though.....

I did enjoy this for the most part. Lyric and Essex really had messed up families. Glad that life got better for them. I definitely felt like Lyric was childish for most of the book. I get that she was young but at the same time grow the fuck up. Overall, it was a good story. I definitely want to read more by this author.
The following are all the thoughts I had while reading this book so it may contains some spoilers:
Not shaped like a wisdom tooth! Lmao. I mean I can’t really talk but that was funny af.
A few months is not a long time but what do I know? Thank God she told him to use a condom though. She’s not completely dumb. Honestly him saying he gets tested every month would have turned me off.
Logic really has the best insults!

All For Me
Great Read. Lyric really was dealt a terrible childhood. Being taken advantage of by Family. Her aunt really had issues. Blame everyone but who actually caused the pain. All that money and not doing what she suppose to be doing. SMH. Allow your man to take advantage of your daughter and niece and then Blame them was crazy. East was definitely a friend. He stepped up and tooked care of Lyric and Symphonee.
He denied his feelings and kept things platonic until he couldn't anymore. Lyric definitely wasn't ready for him she needed time to grow and heal from her trauma. I was glad East finally broke it down and explained to her. She finally got it right. Logic was funny guy. Awesome.

Kami, Kami, KAMI!!
You are a freaking beast! I cried, I laughed, I damn near died with everything that came out of Granny’s mouth cause what smdh but baby you done wrote another hit!! Lyric definitely was immature and traumatized and wasn’t ready for the relationship that East was ready for but he held her down thru all her dumb ass decisions and she kept giving that man her ass to kiss smdh losing her cousin the way she did unfortunately I feel like was the only thing that really made her grow up smdh oh man I loved it! What’s next?? I’m ready?!? You the BEST!! I’ve read ALL your books and I’m ready for more!!

Pretty Solid Read ❤️
Overall I enjoyed the book. I’m accustomed to this author’s writing style and will always support their work. That being said, I do feel one of the biggest plot turners in the book was a bit anticlimactic as the moment we were waiting for was addressed in more of a “behind the scenes” moment. Can’t say much without spoilers, but I just wish the story paced itself a bit slower to allow everything to play out fully.
Nevertheless, I’d still recommend reading! I love the characters and love the reference/connections to other characters we’ve seen in other books!

This was a good read. I did get confused with some of the names so I had to go back and skim to see who some people were. I also think I might not be reading these books in order which might add to the confusion.
East was the most mature out of him and Lyric. Lyric got on my nerves but I tried to be understanding because of all she went through.
I'm not one to victim blame but that last situation Lyric bought on herself. I'm not sure she ever actually matured.
The mothers in this story were all horrible. The trigger warnings are there for a reason. I found myself having to fast forward through certain parts. Overall, I enjoyed East.

Another banger from Kami
It was so good catching up on the gang! Lyric went through so much, but got the happy ending she deserved. I was so saddened by her cousin’s fate though. I wish she would’ve taken L Boogie’s word and lived life. Medicine is so advance these days. She just couldn’t live with it though. East didn’t play about his little family. I’m glad he stepped up for Lyric and Symphonee. I love the love he always showed for them. It took a while to get their relationship together, but they got it. Good job for Jazzie, Trina, Nathan and his wife. Lyric made sure Enocka got hers too lol. Those were some sorry excuses for parents smh.

Absolutely yes!!!
Kami put both and feet in this book!! I really happy that we got Lyric’s POV and her truth. She is truly amazing to not have given up when life started lifin! Her brother was a real one he didn’t play about his sister or his Noodle. Logic was a real one too but he need to pick a side!! East tho?! Babyyyyyyyy that man is the realist😍😍He deserves the world and woman that’s willing to give it to him!! He was so intentional and so forgiving. A lot of men wouldn’t have forgiven somethin like that. Thas a good man Savannah!!! I truly enjoyed reading this book! 10/10 highly recommend

where is the healing
IMO this FMC was the worst. She literally went thru so much that I wanted to see the development of her healing journey. Kami pegged her right by having all her loved ones call her out on her immaturity and selfishness. I felt so bad of East that he even chose to deal with her. He had his demons but he chose to try to get past his hurt and not allow it to consume him. I guess I was a little disappointed that we didn’t get her healing journey as much as we got that trauma. It was a really good read but I stayed upset at her negative behavior I couldn’t even cheer her on for her wins.

I wish life turned out differently for Shay. She deserved better. Beyond the love story between East and Lyric, I appreciated how this book touched on themes of loss, abandonment, incarceration and abuse in family/kinship care. So much was happening to these young people and they had to grow up fast. There are several scenes in the book where it appeared that Lyric was acting out, but I had to remind myself that she was a young girl and deserved to grow up experiencing the world, having fun and making her mistakes. East definitely held it down when it mattered, and they both made the best out of their situation.

5 Star Read!!!
Another easy ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ from Kami! At this point, I don’t think she’s capable of writing a bad book.
East was a BIG steppa, and I loved everything about him—especially the way he loved Noodle and Lyric. 🥹❤️
Now, Lyric definitely worked my nerves 😭, but considering everything she’d been through, I gave her grace.
One thing I did appreciate throughout the story was that, with one exception (Enoka), everyone who wronged them got exactly what they deserved. I love when karma actually does its job. Even if Karma got a name👏🏽📚

Loved the crew, hate the mommas
All the mommas in this story were horrid. I’m glad we got to see them receive karma (kinda). I do wish we got to see more of East finding out about his family back story like Lyric did. Especially after the conversation with his mom and granny.
I’m excited to see a book about Logic, I know it’s gonna be hella funny. The one person I wish we could see more about is Shane. I know he and Shay were small characters but I feel like he was tossed aside and forgotten and it makes me so sad.

Whew Lyric had it rough. She was constantly neglected, abused, mistreated, and taken advantage of. The adults in her life that was protect her did the opposite. The shit she went through & reading her inner thoughts while going through it brought me to tears. East finally rode in on his White horse & got her up outta the toxic environment she was in & reading their love story was cute in all the ways. Lyric’s immaturity & impulsiveness & stubbornness did aggravate me at times but she finally got it together.
