It makes you realize that you can actually live the life you wish for. It tells you that success does not come in shortcuts but true victory is there for those who go all the way. It reminds you that deep within you, you know what you truly want and have the answers, but all you need is the strength, courage and determination to make your dreams happen! This book will empower you, will give you that push, and will definitely make you go for it!
The book is simple yet extremely helpful. A collection of the author's personal experience as well as her clients' stories being a clinical psychologist. In addition to collected known quotes and success stories.
I loved the first chapter, about being in control of my life. Actually every time i am feeling down and lost i remember what i read in it and remind myself that i have to be stronger and in control of my life.
Not to forget how much it pushed me to pursue my goal. It was like an invisible hand that came just in the right time, as i read it gradually over around a year
The book is considered as self help, yeah okay it is, a little bit. let us start.
What i liked abt the book:
1) Some (only some) stories of her clients. they were inspiring and realistic at the same time.
2) Some words or maybe advices. those kind of words you know deep inside but every now and then you have to revise them or re-apply them into your current situation.
What I DISLIKED:
1) The ideas weren't enough organized.
2) The book was direct. Do this, dont do that. Plus, for example she asks in the last chapter: "why do ppl loose enthusiam?" There was no answer, no discussion for the idea! and instead she kept saying: "get up in the morning, be motivated, la bla bla...." (come on!! fb and insta quotes are better maybe!)
3) EGOISTICAL to the maximum. extremely self-centered. and almost 1/2 of the book the writer is talking about herself!
If someone asks, okay, so what's wrong if the writer shared her own experiences? Yeah, sure; but not to share every single silly and trivial achievement (like the powepoint presentation, omg you got a noble prize!!!) and not to add all the places or countries where she spent her vacation, and the type of lifestyle she's living!!! (typical lebanese woman trying to impress her neighbours during coffee time).
I really don't know what was her real motive behind writing this book (not to mention commercial stuff). Was it really to help people, or to show off?
The books were super cheesy for two reasons. Very magazine like content. Or even Instagram content. Nothing new, same advice and tips you’d see or hear randomly. The other reason is that the author is main example of the book. She talks so much about herself, her experiences, her situation. Those can derive lessons, but then again, she cannot generalise and expect others to deal with things the way she did. I’d say skip all of these.
