First things first: you absolutely need to read Missed Connection before diving into Other People’s Homes. This is not a standalone. Book one was a wild ride, but book two? Book two was a full blown mind fuck.
I have never read a thriller that messed with my head quite like this one. The entire time I was reading, I was second. guessing everything. Every thought. Every theory. Every assumption. And somehow, every prediction I made was wrong.
Michael Laimo writes with such intention that even the smallest details matter. Looking back, I know this book is packed with Easter eggs I completely missed, and I already can’t wait to reread it to catch them all.
The story follows a couple, whom we meet in Missed Connection, as they continue their journey on the run. Along the way they encounter different people and find themselves in multiple homes, and let me tell you.. the things that happen in these houses are absolutely insane.
One of the things I love most about this series is the narrative style. You are living inside Peter’s head for the entire story. Peter is a deeply damaged and complex man, and you’re experiencing every intrusive thought, fear, worry, and internal conflict right alongside him. It feels incredibly immersive, like you’re trapped inside his psyche and experiencing the story through his fractured reality.
I don’t wanna say much about the plot because I want to avoid any spoilers. What I can say is that if you’re a thriller reader who loves books that make you question everything, constantly change your mind, and leave you questioning, this is it.
And that ending…
I literally sat there staring at the wall trying to figure out how I didn’t see it coming. How was I so wrong? How did I miss it? I was trying to solve this book the entire time, and it outsmarted me at every turn.
First off I just have to say that I absolutely LOVED the first book, so my expectations for the sequel were already high—but somehow, Michael still managed to exceed them! This book is an absolute roller coaster in the best, most delightfully chaotic way possible. His writing is magnetic, bursting with life, wit, and the kind of energy that keeps you glued to every page. Every time I thought I knew where the story was headed, it surprised me, and the ending was completely unexpected while still being the perfect conclusion to such a wild ride. My only advice? Stay away from mushrooms, mother-in-laws, and redheads! Trust me! LOL! If you’re looking for a story that will keep you hooked, make you laugh, and leave you thinking about it long after you’ve finished, this is the book for you. BRAVO, Michael! PRAISE FOR OTHER PEOPLE’S HOMES!
So, before you read this, you absolutely MUST read Missed Connection. There is no way to understand all the little nuances, references, and behaviors of the characters unless you read MC first. I have been a fan since Missed Connection first came out, and Other People's Homes did not disappoint! There were absolutely moments where Peter's decision-making pissed me off (Lillys too) and a few former side characters from MC I wished had made a cameo. However, OPH is brutal, bloody, twisty, and spicy! Our many background questions are answered, and we've gained some new ones!
The ending in particular left me craving more!
Michael Laimo hit the nail on the head with this installment, and I can't wait to find out if there's more to Peter's story
Incredible read, my heart was pounding, from this sexy twisted story
I couldn't get enough of this book. I devoured ever twist and turn. I couldn't believe my eyes during parts of this book. So well written I really hope to see this series continue and maybe even become a TV show or movie 🤞
What a great sequel! First, I love how it picks up right where Missed Connection left off. I did re-read Missed Connection so it would be fresh in my mind. I suggest doing that if it’s been a minute since reading it. But, the author gives enough background for you to somewhat understand what Missed Connection was about.
Other People’s Homes had me holding my breath, but also laughing at some parts (Earl) 🤦🏻♀️ The ending was not what I was expecting!
Crazy, sometimes funny, and bittersweet. Enjoyed this one as well!
Wow! Just wow! I had the honor and privilege to ARC this beautiful suspenseful (and hilarious) masterpiece. Book 2 of the Missed Connection series did not disappoint. I won't spoil it for those who haven't read it, but the storytelling level was insainly structured. If there was such thing as organized, calculated chaos then this was the Picasso of literary twists, turns and 180's. Buckle up is right because from the moment I opened this book, Peter (pedro) and Lilly (and fk... even Jolie) were doing donuts in mind and had me turning pages from 7am Friday, to 7am Saturday. Worth calling off work to binge this badass book all day. Ten out out of ten. Would read six, seven, eight times over. (See what I did there?) Beware of the mushrooms. Beware of the redheads. Just beware period. 😆 🤣 😂 Truly can't wait to see what Mr.Laimo, the master of the Art of twists and turns, wil conjure up with next in the third book. There better be a third. Because leaving me screaming NOOOOOOOOOOOO in the early morning after realizing there are no more pages after that bomb drop of an ending would seriously drive me bonkers.
I loved Missed Connection by Michael Laimo and was thrilled to hear he was writing a sequel. Man was it worth the wait! I didn’t think it could live up to Missed Connection, but he did. No, he not only lived up, but surpassed my hopes for a twisty, smutty, whirlwind read. Well done Michael! Note: you have to read Missed Connection first to understand all the twists in Other People’s Homes. Buckle up and enjoy!
I read Missed Connection a couple years ago and just recently discovered that the author wrote a sequel. Where most sequels generally fall flat after a great first book (The Housemaid, Lights Out), Other People's Homes adds so much more to the story that started in Missed Connection. I seriously could not put this book down!
Heck of a ride with twist and turns. Will turn you every which way but loose until the end and then you want to get back on the ride for more because Michael has a way of ending a book that leaves you with your mouth open and looking around like WTF!. I’ll be patiently waiting and for looking for the third book in this series. He’s becoming one of my favorites.
