Cal Bennett has a big The AI in his head is killing him.
He's survived enforcers, murderers, ruthless gangs, and a death warrant on his head. But he's never had to survive himself.
Something is very wrong with his AI.
Since absorbing alien cells, Cal's implant has been glitching—blackouts, lost hours, a dead man's memories bleeding into his own. Each episode is worse than the last.
The only possible fix lies in a quarantined space station at the edge of known space, where the alien cells powering his AI were first discovered… and where something has been waiting ever since.
Cal's allies have gone missing. His enemies are closing in. And the closer he gets to the station, the more the glitches threaten to take him over completely.
Can Cal save himself… when he's no longer the one in control?
Start reading now to discover what happens when the line between man and machine finally breaks.
Having survived Karn was one thing, surviving the corrupt power nanites is quite a different thing for Cal Bennett and Byte. Both Cal and Byte are loosing it health-wise. Very much so. Fatally so. However what they did not foresee is that a star system with a supposed supernova star could offer a very strange solution, if not frying them to death in seconds. And then there is a surprising new character, called Sera, that will grab ahold of your heart really quickly. Memory Overload is quite the pulse raiser right to the very last paragraph. Enjoy!
Cal/Byte desperately seek the cure for their deteriorating health In a desperate search for the original Codex, hoping it has the secrets they need to discover to cure the degeneration of their body and mind. If it’s not halted, Cal’s body dies and Byte’s AI structure, that is inextricably bound to Cal’s body, also dies. They are working against time and the various forces working against them. There is non-stop action as they investigate clues; but can they succeed in time to prevent their death? Since there is a Book 5 coming, we know they will, but the story of their race against time is exciting.
Despite a lot of violence, the characters are moving forward and defining personalities. The situations they are facing are horific. The corporations are ruthless and despicable. Good enemies for destruction. Looking forward to the reconsiliation of some of their issues.
This series seems to get a bit stranger as it goes along. Cal and Byte do find clues to their makeup, but also need it to prevent the system from falling. Along the way Cal manages to pick up a robotic girl friend. This sounds promising.
