I am a Vietnam veteran and world traveler. I have been married to the love of my life for over forty years and we have three wonderful children. A large red parrot, named Scarlett often accompanies me and helps keep me in line.
I ended up tacking this book on a vacation/family visit. Not the best time for this book. I had too many interruptions and days that I just did not get to read. I should have taken less than a week to finish this. Instead it took me 15 days. It is an intensely detailed book with a bountiful number of characters and plenty of action, too. Because of my long breaks it sometimes took me a few minutes to refresh my mind to "where am I?", and "who's this guy?". By the way there is a compendium of characters at the end of the book. That would have been extremely helpful if I had noticed it earlier.
You know you are getting a good read when the author has clearly invested so much time in learning about the subject being written about. With Radioactive I had no doubt it was well researched and it's this that brings the story to life. The plot unravels at a blistering pace with the main character Detective Sergeant Mitchell Foster racing against time to avert a major terrorist incident. The suspense was kept all the way through and I really got the impression I was right there alongside the characters as events unfolded. I couldn't think of awarding less than 5 stars.
