Fever Bound: A Post Apocalyptic Romance

One hundred and forty-eight years after a virus wiped out civilization, Beckett has learned that survival comes down to two rules. Trust no one, and never miss a dose of the medication keeping the infection in his blood under control.

When a poker game leaves him responsible for returning a runaway woman to one of the last uninfected cities left standing, he takes the job for only one reason. Ruby is his ticket behind the walls, and the best lead he's had in over a century to find his missing sister.

Returning home is the last thing Ruby wants. An arranged marriage waits for her within the city's walls. Freedom lies somewhere in the wasteland, if she can escape the grumpy, fang-bearing infected man determined to drag her in the wrong direction.

She fights him every step of the journey.

Beckett doesn’t trust her for a second. She talks too much, asks too many questions, and looks at a ruined world like it could still be beautiful. The more she pushes, the more he refuses to let his guard down, no matter how often she gets under his skin.

As they cross flooded bayous and dodge other bounty hunters on the way to the mountains, every moment they’re forced to rely on each other chips away at the line between prisoner and captor.

When their fragile alliance comes to an unexpected end, Ruby realizes that walking away from him is easier than accepting the truth she's been avoiding...she doesn’t actually want to. Her search to find Beckett one last time leads to an underground facility deep within the Blue Ridge Mountains where the infected are experimented on in hopes of a cure.

Trapped together beneath the earth, with no escape and no one else to trust, survival may be easier than resisting each other.

#Review: *Fever Bound* - Anna Callaway - ARC [18+]
4.9/5✨
3/5🌶️

The world was really tough even after many years have passed since the Apocalypse. Beckett was feeling it on his own skin, because, since then, he always needed to keep the virus from inside him under control, by never missing the necessary medicine dose. It was hard to take care of himself, nevermind to have another person on his mind. But when he saw the opportunity to infiltrate into the place where he thought his lost sister might be, he took advantage of that chance. Beckett hasn't expected to have so much trouble with Ruby, the girl who he needed to take to one of the remaining uninfected cities and his ticket to enter the town. But for Ruby there was nothing left there, only the man with whom she was forced to marry, but who was abusive with her and she didn't want to have any business with him again. Now she only wanted to escape from Beckett, to not go back to that awful man. Their journey wasn't easy, not even when they reached the finish point, things didn't work the way they planned. Somehow, these two will end up trapped together, in a place where the infected people were experimented on and from where it was impossible to get out of. How will their eventful journey turn out in the end?

Ohhh, how I looove when there are two opposite characters who aren't getting along at all!! 😂😂😂 Beckett and Ruby had some really intense bickering sessions, which made me laugh so, so much! Beckett has been through so many things over the years and he was sure that there will never be someone again to affect him. That was until he met Ruby, the annoying girl who got under his skin🤭. I loved that it somehow triggered another side of him and I enjoyed so much following this journey and the way their relationship changed until they reached the finishing point. Ruby was for sure very persistent and strong enough to get her own way, but unfortunately that was not what always happened. Still, I admired her determination and her courage. I loooved the last part of this book so much, literally devouring each remaining chapter! It was captivating and quite challenging, being so curious to see what they needed to do to get out of that place where they stuck.

Again, Anna has written an amazing story, one which had a bit of everything in it and which I enjoyed so much!🥰 Beckett and Ruby's constant bickering was sooo good, but also everything these two had to overcome to reach their happy endings.😁

Thank youuu so much Anna for accepting me and for sending me this captivating e-ARC! Always a pleasure to read your books❤️.

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

After winning a bounty in a poker match that leads him behind Delta walls, Beckett's finally secured a way to find out what's happened to his sister. The problem is, after 100+ years after the world ended, he never expects to have sympathy for his captive - Ruby - who is desperate to escape an abusive marriage.

I was so here for this book after reading the tropes and blurbs, all of this is completely up my alley. I love a post-apocalyptic romance, especially when there is danger on the line, and the threat of Beckett's fever definitely had me hooked throughout their story. I loved both of them - Beckett is so grouchy and annoyed being stuck with Ruby, who is so sweet and naïve about the wasteland, I was kicking my feet at the way he slowly softens for her. And even though she is soft as well, Ruby is so tough and I loved her drive and the way she goes after him and sticks by his side, that and so many other moments between them had my heart aching.

Although I had a great time reading this, it was hard to ignore the parallels with some themes and characterizations between Fever Bound and Fallout (which I adore, and am fully on the ghoulcy train) - though I definitely enjoyed it because of those shared aspects as well. I did love the story and pacing a lot, and loved that we got to see so many aspects of their relationship, from the Bounty portion, to after, and the paths they take together - the experiment facility was such a fun turn and I enjoyed that part a lot. I would have loved some more world-building with the apocalypse portion, but am so curious to find out what happens next. I am definitely interested in Cassie's story, and am glad that there's more to this world!

Beckett is so grumpy, and I absolutely loved it! I’d be grumpy too if I were over 100 years old and constantly worried about getting my next dose of medicine to keep the virus in my body from turning me into a wild, brainless, rage-fueled creature. Oh, and did I mention the man has fangs? So there’s that.

Ruby, on the other hand, is kind, naive, and endlessly curious. She has no real understanding of what the wasteland is actually like beyond the safety and comfort of the walls the rich and powerful built at the beginning of the outbreak. Her sheltered life was an interesting contrast to Beckett’s much darker reality.

Ruby is Beckett’s bounty, and his job is to deliver her alive back to her city in exchange for a reward. So naturally, the journey was interesting, to say the least. Between their banter, their clashing personalities, and everything waiting for them beyond the walls, I was sat.

The hunter and his bounty eventually find themselves trapped together in a very precarious situation. From there, things between Beckett and Ruby begin to evolve, much to Beckett’s stubborn dismay. 😂

It’s always refreshing to jump into a new Anna Callaway novel. Her third-person POV and sharp wit make her stories so easy to get lost in, and the banter between Beckett and Ruby was fantastic. I genuinely laughed out loud more than once.

The slow burn in this story was so good and so well done. And I’m talking SLOW burn. The relationship develops at exactly the right pace, making the payoff that much better. And let me tell you, when the spice finally went full throttle, my man Beckett DID IT RIGHT. 🥵

Heavy on the plot, character development, and slow-burn angst, this was an easy five stars for me.

I can’t wait to see what comes next in this new apocalypse world Anna has created. Her stories are always right up my alley, and I keep coming back for more with every new release.

Thank you to the author for the eARC of this book!

If you are like me and waiting for the next season of Fallout to come out, then you need to read this book!

What happens when the 150 year old bounty hunter holds you captive and is tasked with getting you home only to☠️your husband (giving you your freedom) only to then leave you to fend for yourself ( after you thought you were becoming friends).

Well naturally you go out in search of him only to find out that now he is the one held captive at a testing facility and now you are stuck in a bunker with him. To find out what happens next -you know you have to read!

You know I love a grump and Beckett definitely lives up to that title! Ruby is the sheltered, talkative FMC who easily gets under his skin , but slowly thaws his gruff exterior and could possibly be the key to his survival!

And my favorite part- he calls her sweetheart- 33 times! It starts out teasing but when it turns tender…. I swooned!

Sooo good!! 😭🔥

I am HERE for a good post-apocalyptic world, and Fever Bound absolutely delivered. The atmosphere, the survival elements, the infected, the ruined world… give me MORE. I was hooked.

And Beckett??? 🥵 He is such a tough nut to crack, but that honestly just made me love him more. Watching those walls slowly come down while Ruby kept pushing his buttons was SO much fun. Their dynamic had me completely invested.

I loved the journey, the danger, the tension, and the way their relationship developed along the way. Plus, that underground facility had me needing answers immediately.

I need more of this world. Like… NOW. 👀

Thank you to the author for the ARC! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

ARC Read 4.6⭐️

This was such a fun read for me. The whole enemies to lovers is so fun to read. I really enjoyed reading Beckett & Ruby’s story. Their banter and the way he treated her in the beginning was hilarious. She was annoying while he was easily annoyed. It was great.

I enjoyed the way they connected with one another before they each even realized it. Their chemistry was undeniable and even though they were total opposites, they truly were meant for one another.

I received an advanced copy of this book from the author Anna Callaway in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for sending me Fever Bound! This releases on October 1st and will be available in paperback, ebook and on Kindle Unlimited.

You’ll find:
Forced proximity
Hunter x Captive
Grumpy x sunshine
Humans infected = monsters

I am a huge fan of post apocalyptic and dystopian style books. Over 100+ years ago, a virus similar to vampirism x zombies swept through the world and wiped out civilization. The world devolved into small colonies and every person out for themselves. The story is told in the third person but from the viewpoint of Beckett, the MMC. He was infected by the virus years ago but has been controlling it through medication. As he is searching for a source for more medication, he agrees to take a bounty on a runaway woman, Ruby. He is supposed to return her to one of the last uninfected cities. This city keeps outsiders out and he has been trying to get into the city to search for his missing sister. Ruby is a blast of sunshine, she has lived her whole life in the uninfected city of Delta and believes in the good of people. Thus begins our story with a bounty hunter and his captive as they journey to Delta.

There is a lot of fun dialogue and banter between the two characters. Then there is some saving of each other and reluctant trust and relationship building. The plotline was good. I love a vampire/ zombie style story. The science and reasoning for the apocalyptic event wasn’t really discussed which I would have loved. The first half of the book is the journey of Beckett and Ruby as he brings her back to the city of Delta as a bounty. It is filled with encounters with other humans, the infected, and other dangerous situations. The second half of the book centers around character growth and development. The two characters start to build a solid relationship and friendship.

The one thing that really didn’t work for me was the use of “ain't”, it drove me absolutely batty because it didn’t fit Beckett well. At times he was very eloquent and had complex sentence thoughts and paragraphs, other times he would think “he ain’t trying to shove”. There were a few instances where the narrating sentence said “ain’t” but it should have been “isn’t” since it wasn’t the MMC’s dialogue. The use of “ain’t” should have been reserved for the MMC’s actual dialogue. But this was just a small thing that would probably be easily ignored by most readers.

The world was very easy to understand and grasp. There were hardly any notable side characters so you weren’t trying to keep track of a lot of different journeys and characters. I would have enjoyed some additional side characters but I can see how they would complicate the plot. This was very easy to read and set down and come back to. It would make a great vacation read or in my case, a parking lot and frequently interrupted read. I didn’t have to re-read paragraphs or pages to figure out where I left off, it was very easy to start and stop.

Thank you to the author, Anna Callaway for sending me this book. I really enjoyed Beckett and Ruby’s journey and look forward to the next book. I believe it is supposed to be about Beckett’s sister, Cassie.

Summary
In 148 years, everyone you know will be dead. Unless you know Beckett, who somehow manages to live that long in what is essentially a lawless wasteland that used to be America (yes, really 148 years and not two or three). Beckett is tired, probably from that time he's been living with a virus that requires medication, otherwise he will turn into a rage monster and basically be a daywalker with pretty silver veins (fangs included). When the opportunity presents itself to return a bounty back to one of the secure walled cities that are still around, he hesitates for approximately 0.5 seconds.

Ruby has run away from the city for freedom. Freedom from what, we're not sure yet, because why would you escape the safety of a walled city for a desert populated by rage zombies and disease? Doesn't matter, because she's now stuck with Beckett and together they're going back to Delta.

Along the way, it turns out Ruby is actually rather adept at surviving in the swamp. You'd just have to exclude her naivete about how society functions outside the city...or how to feed herself...or literally anything about the virus she's been shielded from...but yeah if you remove those things from the equation, she's going to be just fine. JK, Beckett may be the grumpiest of grumps and threaten to truss her up (be cool) to make sure she doesn't escape, but at least he's pleasant to look at and doesn't want to eat her face (or does he?). And if you think he's charmed by her questions and her chatter and her warmth...he's definitely not, okay? OKAY?

Vibes
Are you familiar with the video game and TV show based on said game, Fallout? Did you watch the show and think "SMASH" when The Ghoul showed up even without a nose? And maybe you thought, "I know there's a huge age gap between these actors, but I'm still kinda shipping the The Ghoul and Lucy"? Well I am that person, and if you can understand where I'm coming from, you'll have a great time with this one.

3.5 stars ~ Review first appeared on Sarah’s Book Solace

Are you obsessed with the Fallout TV show? Have you ever wondered what would happen if Lucy and the Ghoul fell in love? Then look no further, because this book certainly reads like it heavily draws from the Fallout franchise.

Lucy–Sorry, I mean Ruby, leaves her home in Delta–one of the last remaining uninfected cities–to escape her abusive ex. Said ex has put a bounty on her head, and she is being held captive amd starved until a bounty hunter comes to collect her. Enter Beckett, who wins her bounty in a poker game. Ruby is just the ticket Beckett needs to get into Delta and find his missing sister.

Ruby is just like Lucy. Naive, believes in the good of mankind, and far too trusting for her own good. Beckett is cynical, distrustful, and desperate to find his sister. He’s a man on a mission, and he’s not afraid to use anyone and anything in his path to rescue her. He’s also one of the infected (think vampires more so than zombies) who has lived over 140 years without going wild, but must take pills regularly to prevent the rage virus from taking him over. Sound familiar, anyone?

Anyways, I thought this was a silly book (you will NOT believe what cures the plague 💀) but I did enjoy it. I wish I was warned about how heavily it draws on Fallout because if you’ve ever watched the series, the first half of the book will really feel like you’ve experienced this before. I did enjoy the forced proximity aspect when they reunite in the Blue Ridge Mountain facility, but the experimenting and subsequent cure were basically just plot devices to further the romance. I’m not mad at it, and the spice was decent, but it just felt goofy. I think I was expecting more world building in general, but I would probably pick up more books by Anna Callaway now that I know what to expect from her books. If you like these tropes and enjoy Fallout, you might enjoy FEVER BOUND:

⚠️ Forced Proximity
💖 Enemies to Lovers
⚠️ Sunshine x grumpy
💖 Age Gap
⚠️ Slow Burn
💖 Bounty Hunter x Captive

Apocalyptic romances are back (or maybe they never left, and I am just getting into them). Either way, I am here for it! Give me a broken society full of lawlessness, a morally gray MMC and viruses and you best believe I am diving in. The post-apocalyptic world Anna describes is so interesting, and I loved that the world was built as you were already walking through it. I kinda love this because sometimes I get burnt out on crazy fantasy world building, so it's nice to have a world we know a little about, but it's turned on its head. Anna's slow trickle of information about the virus had me flying through the pages to learn more. I was devouring this book trying to figure out what this was and how it swept in taking out modern society. I expected desolate towns, outlaws and chaos, but what I didn't expect was isolated cities, experiments laboratories. However, the laboratory became my favorite part (you'll have to read to understand). I love a slow burn, the slower, the better and this was it. A little enemy to lovers, I mean he won her as a prize and is forcing her to go back to her isolated city. He takes her in ropes and with tape in hopes to gain information about his lost sister, so romance is the last thing on his mind. I loved the banter between these two and even more so when he had to re-tape her mouth because he was over her sass. I was cracking up these two, and it just added so much more to the slow burn. This was the most perfectly drawn out spice and when it finally hit, perfection. I love spice that fits the story and isn't too much. Overall, a super fun, fast read! I loved that this is a standalone and the story perfectly ties itself up, but I cannot wait for more of this world in book 2!
This book is in 3rd person POV so be sure it's for you before picking it up. It usually takes me a minute to get used to it, but this book kept me hooked from the beginning and I barely noticed.

Okayyyy Fever Bound… 👀🔥

I went into this one expecting a post-apocalyptic story, but thankfully we are NOT dealing with the same “the world ended and now there are zombies everywhere” storyline. 😂 And honestly, that was one of my favorite things about it. It felt different without trying too hard to be different.

And then there’s the 148+ year age gap. 👀😂 Before you start judging, just hear me out… it really doesn’t feel like a 148+ year age gap because Beckett looks and acts the same age as Ruby. So after a while I was like… okay, we’re just gonna go with it. 😂

And obviously we have enemies to lovers because apparently I will never get tired of watching two people who supposedly hate each other fall for each other. It’s my weakness. 🤷🏻‍♀️

There are quite a few twists and turns throughout the story, and while none of them had me completely losing my mind, there were definitely things I didn’t see coming. It kept me wanting to read more because I needed to know what was going to happen next.

And the spice toward the end… 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Listen. 😂 It got SPICY, but it actually fit the storyline and didn’t feel like it was just thrown in there because “hey, we need a spicy scene.” So I was definitely not mad about it.

Overall, this was an easy 5⭐️ read for me! I loved the unique take on the post-apocalyptic genre, the enemies-to-lovers tension, and all the little twists that kept me turning the pages.

I can definitely say I have not read another book quite like this one. I was intrigued the whole time. I found the world really interesting and the characters grew on me as the story went on.

I really liked the growing chemistry between Ruby and Beckett. Ruby is just a ray of sunshine and she just loves to chat...about everything and anything. Beckett of course, being the lone wolf he is, definitely was on the struggle bus socially when he met her. So their relationship at the beginning of the story is very rocky, full of gruffness from Beckett and no sense of safety from Ruby.

They of course continue on their journey for Beckett to return Ruby to her abusive husband. And of course things take a turn and I absolutely enjoyed the scene where it did.

Then the super weird and interesting part of the book happens. There's a facility, a possible cure, a weird voice in the intercom, and bonding challenges ...it was a whirlwind of a trip for sure. I did enjoy the bonding moments and the vulnerable moments these two go through. I also enjoyed the spicy moments and Beckett just being feral moments.

And of course, throughout this whole journey, Beckett is on the hunt for his sister who was separated from him years ago. I'm excited for the next portion of this story, to see where it leads.

With only 21 chapters, I was able to sit down throughout the day and really dive into this book. Forced proximity, post-apocalyptic and enemies to lovers? I’m sat already.

This was such an interesting concept for an apocalypse story. It had the vibes of the walking dead mixed with fallout. There wasn’t much backstory to how the world got to the way it was which I would have loved to read more so hopefully in the next book!

The MMC and the FMC and captor x captive at first and the lines get a little blurry. They’re both sassy, he’s grumpy and she’s a walking ball of sunshine and hope. He’s been wandering around, taking bounties to supply his treatments so he doesn’t turn into the wild beasts he hates the most that have taken so much from him.

Fever Bound is full of action and suspense, twists and turns and the yearning is unbelievable. Emotions are fragile between a 148 infected bounty hunter and a city girl who grew up privileged and then thrown into horrible situations. They’re trapped together, wondering who to trust, if they can even trust each other.

Spice level? Probably 2.5/5. It was very heavy on the actual plot. The second he started calling her sweetheart I knew it was over for everyone. Totally recommend this book!

Thank you to the author, Anna Calloway, for this ARC!

4.5 stars rounded up! And as always I try to keep my reviews spoiler free.

Now THIS was a slooooow burn! So much so, as the page count dwindled I started to worry I’d have to wait for book 2 before anything happened! But the payoff is SO worth it! SO. WORTH. IT. Perfection. Loved it.

I love Ruby and Beckett! I love their early banter, their slow, unwilling tolerance and warming to each other, their whole journey. They’re both stubborn and headstrong, both so determined to be right, both sure they know what’s best. And oh. That. Chemistry.

Becket is so full of self loathing and apathy and Ruby is so determined to break through and prove to him why he’s wrong. She doesn’t take no for an answer. Roar at her and she’ll roar right back.

10/10 I can’t wait for book 2 to hopefully tie up the loose ends and get our lovebirds the other answers they’re each still searching for. I’m so ready!!

If you’re looking for a good dystopian, post-apocalyptic-zombie-virus-with-a-twist, enemies to lovers, grumpy/sunshine, slow burn romance with maybe just a little subtle sprinkle of Beauty & the Beast vibes, then definitely pick this one up as your next read!

If Anna writes it....I'm immediately adding to my tbr, especially if it's an apocalyptic romance. She just never fails to pull me in and fall for the characters and their stories.
Beckett and Ruby were no different. This might actually be my favorite. The banter between these two were just so fun and perfect.
Beckett was grumpy, but once Ruby got through those outer layers we seen a new side to him and omg 🫠🫠🫠
Ruby was also a pretty strong character. She's been through a lot and she's trying to find a new life for herself when her and Beckett cross paths.
Think if the movies The Bounty Hunter and Warm Bodies had a baby....sorta vibes.
Also the slow burn was exactly that, a true slow burn, but yall when things finally heated up it was like a pot of water boiling over. That 148 yr age gap is not a problem. 🤭🥵🫠

The healing part though between the characters was so good too. The ending was so peaceful compared to what they had gone through at the beginning. 😅 it was perfect.
I just simply enjoyed and LOVED this book!

But what I'm excited about now is the next book 👀👀👀👀

Thank you so much Anna for allowing me to arc read for you. ☺️🫶🏻

In Fever Bound, we have the grumpy x sunshine trope with a twist. He’s infected, she’s his bounty. She’s a talker, he’s not. He’s motivated to make it to his destination with her, she’s determined to change his mind. They’re definitely not meant to be friends, let alone anything more than that. But, as I’m sure you can guess, a lengthy travel will make or break a relationship. This also takes forced proximity to a new level with the…uh, test - I refuse to say more. 😅🙃

The way the world building is written was easily digestible. It was the ”just right” amount that I always enjoy. I didn’t have questions and there wasn’t so much that my head spun, trying to keep up.

I also wasn’t upset that the side characters didn’t have huge parts. Sometimes, giving side characters a whole, big part washes out the actual story and the connection to the main characters. This book doesn’t do that and I appreciated it during my read.

Thank you, Anna Callaway, for the opportunity to read and review Fever Bound in exchange for my honest review.

3.5 Stars! This book was a fun ride and the post-apocalyptic storyline actually felt different - the rage virus doesn't just leave a bunch of mindless zombies.

I'm not gonna lie, I struggled to get into the first part of the book. I appreciated that it was more true enemies-to-lovers (I mean they really do not like each other 🤣) but the first half of the story felt repetitive and disjointed.

However, the last 40%, I felt like the author found her stride and I could follow what was going on, including their thoughts about what's happening outside the testing center.

I loved Beckett. I love me a grumpy, "touch her and die" man. He had some swoon-worthy moments.
Ruby is the definition of sunshine and lights up Beckett in the way he needs. I enjoyed them together. BUT the dialogue was rough for me. I'm sure it was to show the difference in their life circumstances but it was hard.

Anyway, will I continue the series? Probably. I gotta find put what actually is happening to Cassie.

I'm here for the post apocalypse books! This one takes place after a virus runa rampant and changes the world as we know it. There are infected and the uninfected....and then the cities that protect the elite. Definitely society levels.

The world outside of the cities has moved on with their lives, finding ways to still live.

The MMC has been infected for decades and wards of the virus completely by keeping up on antiviral pills. The FMC has escaped the city for good reason, but was captured and has a bounty on her head for being returned. He needs to get inside the city for his own reasons and she is the ticket into it.

I was completely into this book from page 1! The book took a left turn after the halfway mark (no spoilers) and I do feel as if I was thrown a bit at that point. I really wanted to see more of the world outside and their travels.

All in all, I am so thankful for the arc and look forward to seeing where this world goes.

I received an ARC of this book from the author.

I love that the post-apocalyptic, infected universe isn’t over-explained. Stories can get bogged down with world building that takes away from the story. Fever Bound is character-driven. The elements that are necessary to understanding the plot and character motivations are detailed and readers aren’t inundated with backstory that isn’t integral to the characters and their journey. I always enjoy third-person POV and it was done really well, with each character’s chapters distinct and unique.

I was hooked from the moment I opened this book. The whole dystopian world gave me major Fallout vibes, and I was absolutely here for it.

I especially loved the multi-POV storytelling. Getting to experience Beckett’s perspective of living with the virus and seeing how he was treated, while also learning about Ruby’s experience growing up in Delta, added so much depth to the story. Seeing their worlds and experiences unfold side by side made their journey that much more impactful.

I found myself smiling, holding my breath, and even tearing up right alongside the characters. Their journey completely pulled me in, and I loved experiencing every twist, emotion, and moment with them.

Thank you to the author for the ARC copy. I leave this review voluntarily!

I received the free ARC from the author for an honest review.

If you like forced proximity, post apocalyptic slow burn romance, age gaps, strong FMC and MMC then this is a book for you.
It follows an infected(think zombie/vampire) MMC Beckett who takes a female bounty, Ruby as he takes her back to her uninfected city. It doesn’t work out and he leaves her, only for her to track him down to a facility where he is being experimented on. During their time in the facility they are forced to play along with the scientist.

The banter between Beckett and Ruby throughout this book had me hooked. The ending has me anticipating the next book. This is my first read by this author and it won’t be my last.

Thank you Anna Callaway for the free ARC!

Review of Advanced Copy Recieved by Author thank you for the opportunity

Post apocalyptic is a genre ill sign up for no matter what because it can go so many ways. I did not see this one coming but it pulled me in and shook me because i didnt expect a virus to be control with medication, but that is exactly what our MMC Beckett did. He meets the sassy Ruby as he takes her on as a bounty to the cuty of Delta and well the story begins with so much fun banter, full of action and suspense and so many twists to keep you on your toes. As the they grow closer the develope an strong connection to where he softens with her and beings to care for her, moments to swoon over. This books was fast paced and flowed smoothly.

Thank you to the author for the ARC copy!

I loved the Grumpy-Sunshine chemistry of Ruby and Beckett! In this post-apocalyptic story, he's a bounty hunter and infected. She's his bounty and ticket into the city on the other side of the wall to find his sister. Their relationship grows in such a fun way without his personality changing into a completely different person than who we are introduced to in the beginning. Both Ruby and Beckett discover hidden truths about the worlds that they were living in and how the political landscape has shaped the last 100+ years since the outbreak.
This story has a set-up for the next book, but also a satisfying ending to the main storyline! I can’t wait for the next one!

Oh my goodness, what a amazing read ! I enjoyed every second of it. The story was so well written I couldnt get enough of it. Beckett has been searching for his sister for a while. Ruby is his ticket to finding some answers but she doesnt want to go back. But this world has its ups and downs, and Beckett is not someone who is normal and she will find out sooner rather than later. Getting away from bad guys, trying to survive, finding confort in each other, but most important he learns that this company is not as bad as he thought It was. This story really is amIng, in a world that went bad, having someone next to him makes this journey better. Thank Anna for greating such amazing stories ♡

Thank you to Anna Calloway for a chance to read her ARC of Fever Bound!

Ok so, not gonna lie it took me a few chapters to get into it. I felt like I was missing some important information and was thrust into a story. It was a different apocalypse story, however. The more I read, the more I liked it. And let me tell you, I sped read to get to the spicy stuff. I knew immediately that this pairing was going to be fiiiiiireeeee! I love a broody a$$hole type of man unfortunately.

Is this really enemies to lovers? More like Stockholm Syndrome in my opinion. I’m not complaining though. I enjoyed it. I also love an “ancient” MMC. Especially one that bites. Can’t wait to read more!

4 stars!

This was a unique take on zombies and a post-apocalyptic world. I would have liked to read more about the beginning of the end of the world, but I feel like we might get a little more of that in book 2. I loved the banter between Ruby and Beckett. And when Beckett started opening up they were everything. The lab was definitely my favorite part of the book. I felt on edge during some of those experiments and during the come down of the experiments. I have some predictions for book 2, but I’m probably most definitely wrong. I’ll just have to wait and see.

• 148 year age gap • enemies to lovers • apocalypse • grumpy x sunshine • hurt x comfort • forced proximity • SLOW burn •

Okay, wow! I really enjoyed this book! This is a first time reading this author and I’m blown away. I think this is also my first post apocalyptic romance and this was so good.

It’s a mix of walking dead and I am legend. While there is what they call “wild” around you don’t have much interaction in the book which is nice.

You meet Beckett, 148 years post virus and he has been surviving as an infected and has been trying to locate his sister and when he gets a chance to, he takes it. It just so happens it’s with Ruby, a talkative uninfected that escapes the safety of home.

Ruby is so funny, and I love her development with being with Beckett.

This book is everything! I love Beckett and his brooding. He's so guarded, but only because of the pain he had experienced.

I liked the virus and thought that it was explained well. And was almost it's own character throughout the novel.

I truly enjoyed the romance and how things didn't get steamy until later in the story. Was a little bit of a weird twist with getting trapped, but I'm here for it.

I highly recommend this novel for anyone who loves apocalypse stories (and not afraid of some spice)

Fever Bound was a really great book! There were some difficult topics discussed and emotional points. I thought that the world building and explanation of the virus was done well overall. Very good mixture of plot, banter, and spice!

Fever Bound releases on October 1st, 2026! Thank you to Anna Callaway for allowing me to read this arc prior to release! All thoughts expressed are my own.

3.75 ⭐'s rounded up
Fever Bound is a post apocalyptic slow burn romance full of intense chemistry and lots of tension.
Beckett was doomed from the start with Ruby. She was all head strong and sass. Beckett is so angry, he tries so hard to push her away. Their journey together is full of chaos and obstacles.
Once this burn ignites let me tell you it is FIRE!
I truly enjoyed this one. It had a good storyline that had a great push and pull between the characters.
One thing I can say is I wish we got some more backstory about what happened before we jumped right into it.
